Bev is the primary inn keeper -- what a firecracker! She makes the most sumptuous country breakfast imaginable, with the most gorgeous flat, dish, silverware. The inn only has 3 rooms, so you'll be sure to feel comfortable in the intimacy of the house. When we stayed, at the end of October, we became fast friends with the other couple staying there (keep in mind, we are in our 20's/30's while the couple was in their 50's/60's, but the environment was just so laid back it was difficult not to be so friendly!). The place is near a cutesy New England downtown you would only expect to see in the movies. Also near Dartmouth U and Hannover. I've been spoiled -- don't know how I could ever go to any other B&B but this one ever again!

We were warmly welcomed, shown the inn, and made to feel very comfortable. Snacks, coffee and tea were put out around 3:30, which was a nice treat. The house is on a nice property right on the river, and is very pretty. The road noise is constant both outside and inside the rooms, but it died down around 10pm. The house is clean and has plenty of light. The breakfast was very nice, with yogurt and oatmeal as the first course, and baked apple, and egg and ham topped toast as the primary. Plenty of food to wake up to. We also enjoyed a fire at night with delightful company. The rooms are all quite small, but ours had a bureau and bedside tables, so that was nice. The bathrooms are all very small, and our shower was barely large enough to turn around, forget bending over. Other rooms were even smaller. The bed was comfortable and the bedding of a nice quality. In summary, we had a nice time and enjoyed the owners very much. I would return if the price point were more in line with the size of the room and bathroom. My expectations for this price are simply higher than the room delivered.

Kristy made the most delicious breakfasts every morning- a veggie quiche, pumpkin pancakes and was sensitive to me being vegetarian. They also baked the most amazing afternoon goodies, we definitely enjoyed the macarons! Dan was super generous and even offered to share some of his precious heady topper beer with us, they are so kind! They have the cutest common room and dining room and lounge chairs facing the tranquil creek behind. They also pointed me out to a nice easy 30 minute running path across the river. Quiet at night and just a 10 min drive to town. Made our leaf peeping trip perfect.

VISITORS BE WARNED…read more The Bed and Breakfast is under new management. They have done away with the two-course breakfast the inn is known for and replaced it with a continental breakfast that is a poorer offering than what you will get from Hampton Inn. There is now fruit, yogurt, granola, stale pastries, hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee/tea only. The communication refers to the continental breakfast as an "enhancement" when in fact it is a replacement. They are not honoring what you have booked, offering only $15 per day in return. Our breakfast out, while delicious, cost $60. The new management should have been transparent in their communication, honored what guests had booked for at least 90 days after takeover, and given notice to folks here that have booked so they could have an opportunity to make a change, if desired. When I asked for a real solution, the new manager stated only that I was "talking in circles" making me into the problem instead of taking real accountability for the misinformation they've delivered to customers. I haven't gotten away with my husband since 2021. This has left a negative stain on our getaway.

When you arrive, there is a board on the left side of the house that has the required information for contactless check-in information which was uncomplicated. Our room - the gala - had a much bigger bed than expected which was awesome as well as a spa tub, and gas fireplace. About $550 for two night stay which is very competitive for the area. Within walking distance to many attractions and shopping. Clean and the communal areas were very cute and matched online pictures exactly. My only qualm is that this is a very old house and you can hear EVERYTHING from the other rooms which was very unpleasant especially if you are in a downstairs room. Floors creaking, beds squeaking, music, conversations, etc. I would recommend bringing headphones and not coming here with children unless you can rent all the rooms for your group or you might have some explaining to do in regards to the sounds coming from other rooms... This is my first BnB experience so maybe this is the norm but I was not prepared for it. As far as I can tell there aren't any enforced quiet hours here. Shampoo/conditioner provided - no body soap. Hairdryer, iron, and hangers available in room. Extra blankets in room. Fridge available for guest storage. Ability to use microwave in kitchen. Parking lot in the back, parking included in stay. WiFi available, but NOT reliable for zoom at least in the room I was staying in. Suggest Farmer and the Bell for wifi for work. Thermostat/heater available. Host reachable via text. Enjoyable breakfast from 8-9am, the same every morning - see picture: oatmeal, yogurt, pumpkin bread and coffee cake, coffee/tea/water Books available in our room - also local free library at Mon Vert if you need something to read! We ended up reserving the only room which does not have an en suite bathroom for $100/night, which includes a very tasty continental breakfast. The breakfast included delicious spiced oatmeal with a variety of add-ons (walnuts, chopped apples, honey, real maple syrup). Also available were hard boiled eggs, great coffee, a variety of teas, excellent bread and jams, bananas, apples, oranges, homemade pumpkin bread, Greek yogurt, granola. I peeked into a couple of the other rooms which were not currently rented and they all seem to be spacious and nicely decorated. Right now I am hanging out in the comfy shared living room space after wearing myself out XC skiing at the Woodstock Nordic Center this morning - only about a mile away. A variety of restaurants are within walking distance. And a bonus for us: There is an EV charger about a 2 minute walk away.

Lots and lots of history here !! I also learned that for here, the "first floor" means one flight up from the lobby, and the "first floor" is NOT on the ground floor nor where the lobby is. Learn something new everyday. In fact, this inn does not appear to have rooms on the ground floor or where the lobby is, but if they do, I just don't know where that would be. The dining room, kitchen and bar appear to be what exists on the main floor. Regardless of all that, our room upstairs was beautifully appointed and spacious, and our king-size bed with its fluffy pillows was so inviting and comfortable. It was beautiful !! We slept so very well. I wish we had booked for more than one night. Our room rate included a warm-cooked breakfast the next morning. For an additional fee, we ate our dinner at the Vic Tavern, as well. (Those will be reviewed under the Vic Tavern.) The owners were very nice and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with them and staying at their inn. I came across this B&B because my daughter had just moved to Vermont and I was looking for a B&B to stay at. I wanted something nice because it was my first time going to Vermont. I was so happy I had found this place, it was a wonderful experience. The B&B and farm was so beautiful. The owners were amazing and the nicest people. I'm sorry I can't remember their names. I had a room on the first floor. I remember mentioning to her that I was visiting my daughter and that I wish I could cook my daughter her favorite meals. The owner mentioned that they had an apartment like room on the 2nd floor with a kitchen that was already reserved, however if the people who reserved it don't show up, I could have the room. They did not show up so I got that beautiful room with a outside porch and beautiful view. My daughter even slept over for a couple of nights and I was able to cook some of her favorite meals. The stay included breakfast which was the best. The house was so charming. It was the best experience I ever had. The following year I drove and called to book a room and found out no pets were allowed. I was devastated. I would have been a life long customer. I highly recommend this B&B. Also, best maple syrup ever!
