Been eating here since early teen years. Back then they also sold hot subs. Since then, been through a lot of hands, but the crust and sauce have retained their perfect (to me) pizzaocity. Twelve inch. Sauce with peppers. Crumbled sweet sausage and mushrooms on top. It is a unique crust that I have never gotten anywhere else. Kind of bready, thick, chewy, lots of air pockets. Anyone who like the stuff (and the one in Cornersberg is the best, to me...) can I.D. the pizza by the crust alone. Now, what truly SUX is, besides my Mom, no one else, not my wife, none of my friends, like the pizza the way I order it above. I mean, that is incomprehensible to me. I grew up eating this pizza whenever my uncle would come in town. It's his absolute favorite. Now, it's become a family tradition. Taste - 4/5 Thick crust, rich sauce which includes green peppers, and lots of pepperoni. I like how the pepperoni are added at the end and not baked on with the rest of the pie. My family has been eating Cornersburg Pizza for most of our lives. They have remained true to their original sauce and dough...the sauce is always thick with sweet green peppers-just outstanding! The crust is thick and crunchy, we've never once been disappointed. They don't offer anything but pizza, but that seems to be working out just fine for them. Tucked between a grocery store and laundry mat you will find the best pizza and wings.I like that there menu is very simple not cluttered wIth a lot of choices and different food customer service is good the only thing is when you call sometimes it's hard to get through or it takes awhile for them to answer. I am 57 and have been eating Cornersburg P in Cornersburg my entire life. They now do, in fact, take plastic. They still don't deliver, but that is alright for me really. If you grew up and have only experienced fast food pizza, you may like this. If you enjoy fresh quality ingredients than avoid this place. First the positive. Good staff. Two guys were working when I went in. They were efficient, communicated well with each other to give me a good ETA, and also interacted well with other customers. Neutral: Wings. Extra crispy as ordered. Hot sauce was forgettable. Slightly to small Negative: Pizza ! This is just Pizza Hut pizza slightly (I do mean slightly) better. Crust is thicker, with no texture, no chew, no crisp - it's just bread. Tomato sauce was to sweet and had no tomato taste at all. I have to believe this is canned sauce of low quality (canned tomatoes can be just fine, but these are bargain basement, or a premade sauce). No fennel in the sauce for something interesting. Cheese was equally tasteless, definitely not fresh mozz * parm. Toppings were as bad as the pizza. I had a sausage and mushroom, based on so many 5 star reviews from others. Mushrooms were definitely canned, and had no individual taste, just sort of there. Sausage also had no taste. So everyone knows, I ate a slice all together, and than took individual bites of all the components, and they are all very low quality and canned. Each ingredient should be able to stand up on its own, and none do, so the combination is just weak. If it wasn't for the hard work and interaction by the staff, and okay wings, this would be one star, as anyone who has tried pizza from NY, New Haven, or anywhere that uses fresh & quality ingredients would know. I don't know what else to say except it is the best pizza EVER!! th last time I was in Y-town, we bought 5 pizzas and kept them in the car and ate them as we traveled around and reminisced about growing up . we took the pizzas to the 'fairy bridge' in Mill Creek Park and the Old Mill and as we looked over the fence at the Jack Rabbit at Idora Park. This was all about 15 years ago. I grew up in Youngstown--Chaney HS. We WALKED to the ORIGINAL Cornersburg Pizza and bought slices for 25 cents!! 35cents if you wanted pepperoni. the green peppers were baked with the pizza--not added after. My CAT even liked the peppers !!!! Cornrsburg Pizza IS Youngstown. Now if I can figure out a few things: 1-how to buy a franchise --or get someone ELSE to open one here in Orange Park, FL. and 2-how to order pizzas to be sent to me without paying an arm and a leg AND 3-how to get a francise or order online HANDEL'S frozen custard. What a better way to start Yelping than to write my first review about the Pizza of my youth? While I don't live in the area anymore, I try to go back and grab a pie from Cornersburg whenever I'm in town. They are a takeout place only. Let's see, how do I define their pizza? It's sort of Chicago style, but with a Youngstown flair. A lot of sauce - probably the best Pizza sauce ever made - with the right amount of cheese and a great dough. I've always gone for the onions, and no-green peppers. They also make a killer Bryer Hill Pizza...that's a pizza that is sprinkled with olive oil and Parmesan cheese, no Mozzarella. The place is been in the same family for at least two generations, and looks like it's going to be another generation. Simply awesome pizza. read more
