I used to enjoy the pizza at Uptown. Just had some tonight and things have changed...unfortunately not for the best. The sauce was sweet and has never been sweet before. Their prices drove us away completely. Two 12 inch pizzas with one topping each were over $30....same thing at Ianazones for less than $20. We will most assuredly never go back to Uptown, as they have literally outpriced the local market. read more

This place was awesome. Tried it for the first time as I have heard so much good about it. The waitress was very polite and pleasant to interact with. I had a meatball sub. It is a little smaller in size but absolutely priced accordingly. WOW was this sub good. The meat tasted very good. Sauce was excellent and lots of cheese on top. The bun was perfectly toasted. I also had a bowl of wedding soup. It was no disappointment as well. All of the correct ingredients and the right amount of each. Overall I will absolutely be coming back to this little pizza shop often. Keep in mind it's nothing fancy BUT the food makes it all better. MUST TRY!! read more

This was Mr. V's favorite spot for pizza. This and Niccolinni's in Wedgewood. I never ate here. Drove by it, a lot, finally came in a couple times. First, place is closed Mon and Tues due to employee shortage. Second, employees they got are great. And third, the wedding soup kills. The pizza has a great crispy bite with a nice chew. One of the top four pizza shops in Youngstown, Liberty Uptown Pizza is delish. Crust is thick, edges crispy but not dry, and they're always generous with the cheese so no "extra cheese" orders necessary. Great for economical lunches (little Joe, salad, and drink + tip for under $10). read more

Ya know, cuz its a 15 minute drive, I overlook Uptown. Now esp in this area there's a pizza joint on every corner, so it seems, and there's prolly a lot more misses than hits. Now, Uptown's been a fixture for years- it was on my short list back in the 90's when I lived nearby. Tried it today at the wife's suggestion. Sweet Lord, just as I remembered. Crust? Excellent, with a crisp and a chew. Sauce? Bingo. Cheese galore. And a side note- best sausage I've EVER had on a pizza if that's your topping of choice. Lunch special everyday....cup of Italian Wedding Soup and a 6" pizza for $4.75. That is a deal that is just too good to pass up!! Great service, good food. The wedding soup was really delish. The pizza, which they call the "little joe", is awesome. Although it's only 6", it's thick-crust, and LOADED will cheese all the way to the edge! Other toppings cost extra, but it's still a great deal, with good food. It does get quite busy around the 12p-1p hour. read more

I have come to Uptown since I was a kid and after 30 years it still tastes EXACTLY the same. This is what pizza should be like. Perfect crisp/chewy ratio, tasty sauce, tons of cheese and so greasy you need a napkin to soak it up before eating omnomnom, lol. We also love the pasta and the specials are so reasonable one could almost live on Uptown for a week for the deals. For the beginner I recommend the Little Joe and Salad deal (Tangy Italian Dressing and a salad loaded with beets, olives, chickpeas and peppers). Grab a beer or my favorite pairing is a root beer (wishing they still had New York Seltzer like the old days). Fresh food is made to order so be patient, it's worth the wait when it's busy even if it smells like grandma's kitchen which tortures a hungry belly!!! read more

This place has been around for at least 30 years. And for good reason! Their pizza is outSTANDing. There are only two sizes: the regular size (12 inch) and the much smaller, single-serving Little Joe. The sauce is a bit sweet, the cheese is just right, and the crust is not quite thin, not quite thick. Excellent Italian wedding soup too. And prices are very reasonable. Service is friendly if super-casual. The place is small, only seats about 50, and it can get crowded during the weekdays lunch hour. Otherwise they're accessible. Take-out is the norm but there's decent seating. read more

only thing making this a 3 is that the pizza was still amazing despite the ridiculous wait time. Called and ordered and they said 30-35 minutes. No problem. I had to stop at the hair store in Liberty Plaza. I was in the store for 20 minutes. Made my way down to Uptown and when I walked in it was a total of 31 minutes. She said 5-10 minutes more. Uhhh ok. So I sat and watched the girl who was taking the money cut customers mini pizza's and use the corner of her fingers to put them on the plates. HUH?!?!? I'm confused. Shouldn't you wash your hands?!?!?! I wasn't 100% sure she didn't wash so I just sat back waiting for it to occur again. So she then disappeared. I wait an additional 16 minutes after the initial 5-10 when I first arrived and finally my damn pizza came out. FINALLY!!!! If I wasn't in town for only a short time and was craving this greasy yet super delish pizza I would've left a long time ago. The girl came back out and I watched her.....if you touch my pizza or anyone elses Im gonna lose it. Nope she didn't lol. Super delish....not worth an hr wait that's for sure. If I could I would have this pizza shipped to California. 12 inch extra cheese and roasted red pepper for around 10 bucks became my best friend during my Ohio trip. 2016-06-11 Visit.. This rating I wasnt sure o becuase the food itself was great. but what happen to my pizza is becuase of the dumb server.. so here are the actual rating.. Food 4.0 Service 0.0 So I average it to 2.0 As previous people have said there is a long wait for the pizza. However they are cooking it fresh and as I watch my food cook I notice they have a two step cook process.. First they bake the pizza in a pan and then put it back in without the pan to crisp up the crust a little. Which gives it the perfect light crunch of the crust but still remains soft. I order the small 6inch pizza which they put in a wax bag and the then put in a paper bag with napkins. Now here comes the problem. The server hand me the bag vertically. I automatically noticed this and then correct my carry carrying the bag to my car (since I made a to go order). down the road I went till the pizza was cool enough to eat.. I open the bag and all the cheese and sauce slide off the pizza to the bottom of the bag. so I was just basically eating the crush with a light coating of sauce. I love the crust and the slight taste of the sauce I knew I like the sauce. And then had to eat a big gump of cheese of sauce with it.. There was lots of extra cheese on my order and was very tasty. overall I think I would have loved the pizza if it was packaged correctly. I probaly would return if I am in the area but I will tell them to put it in a box even though the box would be an overkill. Maybe they should get small boxes. The food here is the best. I travel from south Florida just to get Uptown Pizza. I've never been disappointed with my meal. I often get to-go but have gone in and had Ronnie take care of me. He's the best. You instantly feel like you're his best friend and he's attentive and observant. The prices are really good. The fried cheese is amazing. The pizza is like nothing I can get any where else. The subs are delicious and the salads are so tasty. Everything I've had has been wonderful. It's well worth the drive. read more
