I called because our old washer stopped working. Paul came out the next day and diagnosed the problem right away. He said that it was not necessary to buy a new washer, that he could fix the problem. And he did, by going to Elgin to get the needed part and then coming back to finish the job. This was first-class service, from my initial call to the repair of our washer. I just had my LG dishwasher stop heating properly. I am putting my house on the market, so I needed fast service. I called Cornerstone Appliance repair today, and they scheduled a call for later in the afternoon the same day. Randy the tech, diagnosed the problem correctly, and had the necessary part on his truck. (A fairly inexpensive switch.) He replaced the defective part, and put the unit back in working order. We had dishwasher problems. Big time, dishwasher problems. Our dishwasher was leaking water and the water was dripping into our basement. Of course, I thought I would be able to fix it on my own. Ha. Hardly. After a couple days of dripping water and kitchen puddles and my aggravation of not being able to fix it on my own, my husband called Cornerstone. He called on a Friday afternoon, late and they set up an appointment for Monday morning, bright and early. He (we think it was Bob) arrived on time and was super friendly. He fixed our dishwasher in about 10 minutes (it literally took him less than 15 minutes because HE knew what he was doing). Our final bill was way less expensive than we thought it would be. Great service and we will definitely be calling him again when something happens in the Money Pit (what I have nicknamed my house).... and believe me, something always breaks here. read more

I wish I could say anything about them, but apparently they won't be bothered to come out to fix LG appliances, even when they are Kenmore Elite (was told LG makes it washers for Kenmore and they won't work on those ). She was booking into the next week but found a way to fIt me in on the day before the party. Long story short, after seeing numerous reviews giving cornerstone 5 stars, I opted to have them come out to look at the freezer. Lincoln came out, and looked at the fridge. He was incredibly friendly and professional. The other reviews weren't kidding; these guys were top notch. Lincoln quickly diagnosed the issue and gave me a quote on the cost to repair. I went ahead and had him do the repair. He was quite efficient. He even went as far as vacuum behind the fridge as well as the coils; I think a lot of other places wouldn't have gone that extra length. Bob, who repaired my broken dryer, was incredibly professional and personable. I also had a great experience with Cornerstone this morning. I called on Friday and they were able to get me in today before 11 am. My washing machine was not draining properly and with 4 boys in the house, you can imagine how quick I needed service. Lincoln was prompt, cared for my home by putting on shoe covers and diagnosed the problem right away. He patiently explained the problem, showed me how to get to the drain if I chose to do it myself next time and had it up and running in about 30 min. The total repair call was $98. I was very happy and will call them again if I need a kitchen or laundry machine repaired again. One thing to note, however, is that their profile shows that they open at 7:30 am, but really don't until 8:30. Relatively minor issue. read more

Our family has used the same repair company for over 45 years and they've retired so when my stove broke, I needed to find someone quickly. I called to make an appointment and was able to do so quickly. Bob came out and assessed the situation and was able to fix it enough to allow me to host Easter as planned. Today is the second time I've had Cornerstone out to fix my stuff. The first time, my oven wasn't working so I called them after finding them on Google Local and reading their reviews. I couldn't be happier with their service! Today they were out to fix my clothes dryer, and it was the same wonderful experience. Their guys are very clean, smartly uniformed, polite and efficient. They've never tried to sell me anything I didn't think I really needed. They just diagnose and fix the problem quickly. Compared to other appliance repair companies, I feel that Cornerstone's prices are extremely reasonable. Most companies charge a lot more just to walk through your door, to say nothing of how much the actual repair will be. It was almost a week from the time I called to the time they could come out, but this is because they're so busy - a good sign! They sent two guys out to me today and one of them seemed to be training so it looks like their business is growing and they're hiring more technicians. The excellent service and reasonable prices made it more than worth the wait, however. I will absolutely call Cornerstone for any and all appliance repair needs I have in the future. Short version if you don't want to read: Had guy out for CO issues after multiple specialists told me it was our dryer and stove, was then told I wasted his time because I didn't wait until my family physically felt the effects of CO poisoning before I called. I have three 4 year olds, btw... Long version: Our new CO alarms have been going off with very high readings (150, 250, 650) for the past week. After testing by both the fire department as well as an HVAC specialist, I had been told both the stove and dryer were emitting high CO. The dryer had spiked the gauge we have to as high as 650 this week and I could smell unburnt fuel as it ran. So I had Cornerstone send a guy to take a look. End result of his visit was being scolded for cooking on the stove for an hour (in his words, that is "asking for it". I'm thinking this guy doesn't cook much, TONS of stuff needs to cook on a stove for well over an hour, and I've done it more times than I can count over the years... ), and then given crap for "wasting his time" when the dryer and stove looked fine to him (both items that the FD and HVAC specialist told me were causing the CO alarms) He also made a point of reminding me CO is odorless when I mentioned the smell, at which point I had to remind him that improperly burnt gas can CAUSE CO. I was aware I wasn't smelling the CO, but I was smelling the causing factor (seems like something he would know, but ok...) Was also told I should have waited until we were feeling the effects of CO poisoning before we call so we don't waste his time. Good to know, next time I will ignore instructions from the fire department and wait until my 3 small children pass out before I dare waste this companies time. I deeply apologize to Cornerstone for the inconvenience, as soon as we are on the verge of blacking out, I will do my best to crawl to the phone and schedule an appointment 3 days later. read more

We were extremely pleased with the repair on our double oven. They came on Christmas eve and had our oven in working order while we waited for the replacement part which they ordered during the first visit. They came prepared to work on the oven with the necessary equipment. Knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt tech. Called them to get an estimate to replace the bearing kit. They were out to my house the next day. I asked them to call first when the technician was on his way, and that is exactly what they did. When the technician Bob came out it was the same price after he looked at the machine. However, he had an extremely difficult time getting my washing machine apart as I had waited a very long time before calling them about the grinding bearings in the machine. I think it took him at least 45 minutes just to get all of the parts disassembled before he could start putting in the replacement parts. When I got the bill, I was expecting the price to be higher because of the difficulty, but no, it was exactly what he said it would be at the beginning. I would definitely call these guys again. Our dishwasher was washing but not heat drying which was very annoying with sitting water & soaking wet dishes every single time! I called up Cornerstone on a Saturday so I left a message & got a call back on Monday, their next business day. The lady on the phone was friendly & helpful with setting up an appointment . Lincoln came out that Friday, was instantly friendly & good sense of humor! He explained to us what he was going to do in regards to running diagnostics & provide an estimate . Once that was done, he was honest in letting us know that parts & repair would cost us more than just replacing the dishwasher with a new one! It was up to us what we wanted to do. We really appreciated his honesty & the options provided! We were only charged the service fee & informed that if we decided to repair it, we would be charged what we were quoted. Wow - can't say enough about this company! Really surprised they don't have more reviews. My neighborhood has a forum to inquire about service providers. I posted about appliance repair and an acquaintance recommended Cornerstone - she suggested the owner by name. I called and was scheduled with someone who was not the owner - totally understandable. We had 3 appliances to repair - two things that were non-critical on fridge (ice machine) and oven (second oven not working), and an urgent issue with a totally not working dishwasher (because who can live without a dishwasher!?!?!?!). I called late in the day and was scheduled for a 2 hour window the next day. Love that it is a 2 hour window and not a 4 hour window like most everything else I have ever encountered. A service call I believe is $68, but a 3 appliance call is $112. Why not have them fix it all at once for that price, right? Service guy 'R' comes and fixes fridge and dishwasher right away, he had the parts on hand. He spends time on the oven and has to order parts. This is Thursday, so we reschedule for Monday. And it's going to be the same guy - 'R' - wonderful since he is familiar with our appliances! Love it! So he comes out and replaces the parts, but they don't work. Unfortunate, but seems like GE appliances kind of suck, and they have been thorough and explained that charges would not continue to accrue for diagnostics, and that makes me pretty happy! He wants to send out the owner, but he's on vacation. So he schedules me with the guy who is #2 in the company. He comes out - and let me say he was well informed about what R had already done as I explained to him what had already transpired. It's clear these people have great hand-offs, which is rare in this business! He tests a LOT of things, but seems a little stumped. I'm a little sad, but he explains everything to me and doesn't talk down to me even though I'm a woman! I talked to him about things like relays and fuses and he didn't act like a woman would be clueless about such things. He showed me what he had tested, etc... He tells me what he thinks it is, but ultimately wants the owner to come out. He schedules the owner for the next day. I'm happy with that vs replacing the most expensive part in the oven - the control board. Ok! So now I'm worried that they are going to tell me that it's the $500 board, and considering just getting a new oven as this one is 17 years old. But I am willing to wait for the owner, because who knows best, right? And - at this point, it's still part of the diagnostic fee. I can't deny feeling a little bit guilty at this point because they are very likely not going to make any money from this because of the several service visits. But I've also been extremely patient and willing to wait for a proper diagnosis and repair. And I honestly hope they appreciate that in a customer. The owner came out today. Again - he was well informed as to what had already transpired with the other previous techs. This, to me, is extremely impressive and also allows them to move forward quickly and not overlap work. I honestly abhor incompetency and duplicate work, so this was quite pleasing to me (yes, I have high standards!). Within 30 minutes, he diagnosed the problem in the board, but then looked at the board and decided he could just solder the bad/fried joint vs replace the board ($450) or have it fixed/rebuilt ($150 and no oven for a week). He fires up the soldering iron, fixes it. He puts it in and tests it, there was one other issue which was quickly diagnosed with another solder joint. He fixed that, put it all back together and we were good to go. He made sure to put all the parts back together, that it was functional and cosmetically perfect. Again, he was willing to show me the bad parts, didn't question my knowledge base as a woman, he realized I had some clue how circuits, relays, and shorts work and treated me extremely respectfully in that manner. Very refreshing as a woman! And franky, we need to come to a place in this world where there doesn't need to be said. But I digress. He refunded me for the replaced parts that didn't fix the issue. Extraordinarily reasonably priced. I can't say that enough. Very fair. I'm afraid to admit with the several service calls, they may not have made any money on me, but their service was clearly impeccable, their prices were beyond fair and I would not only call on them again, but recommend them to anyone I know for being thorough, well priced, honest and fair.
