AC died in the middle of the night. They came out the next morning and said my unit was too old…read morerepair (just over 20 years old), while ripping out something from the power box and seemingly breaking a component in there. They said they could try to do a repair for about $1.3k but that they couldn't guarantee the repair would be effective because of the condenser. They then tried to sell me on their highest end heat-pump for about $24k, which was too much for our needs, since our furnace was also functional. We ended up choosing a basic AC replacement for around $9k. They were able to install the new unit two days later. However, on the day of the install, they saw some surface level rust on the furnace heat exchanger and tried to get me to replace it for an additional $4k. When I said no, they backed off and recommended a CO alarm (which we already have). It felt like I was being heavily taken advantage of because I was in a dire situation. The installation went fine, but my experience of being pressured and hard sold to during the process made it feel like I was being milked for every penny they could get out of me. Take this as a precaution to check your HVAC AC/furnace/heat pump regularly, and get multiple quotes before deciding on work. If you go with this company, they will seemingly do an effective job, but they will try their best to get as much money out of you as possible.

Even gave me the model number of the capacitor to replace if I want to save money and do it myself (I'm reasonably handy so it's something I'd probably do). It turned out my AC unit needed a new compressor and more freon because it wasn't cooling enough and too much ice was building up on the coils in my home thus causing a leak when the ice melted. Andrew also saw that the drain tube coming from the unit inside was clogged. He cleaned the tube and got everything working properly again. He also recommended using less restrictive filters for my system, stating that the higher quality ones are too restrictive and don't allow for efficient air flow thus making the unit work too hard. All of his recommendations are paying off since my system is no longer leaking and is working much better than before. I'm grateful for his knowledge and expertise. He's honest and has fair pricing. I've referred him to many of my neighbors.

I will copy the review I wrote about ABC, which lead me to hiring Hero Air in the first place to give you the full picture: Update: ABC did show up at 8pm the following night and proceeded to quote me $1,363 to replace some components and $475 to deep clean the condenser coil. I was paying for their VIP service and that is the quote I got. I said no way since I trust them zero. Got Hero Air, who get amazing reviews on Yelp to come out and were there within 2 hours. Turns out I needed a new thermostat, which all in for diagnosing, running out to get the thermostat, and installing for $407. He also recommended a deep cleaning and charged me $150, so for $557 instead of $1,833 which wouldn't have even fixed the problem I am up and running 4 hours after requesting an appointment. So when I said above they hope idiots will let them get away with charging triple, I was not exaggerating. ABC deserves to go out of business. It seems like with their AI reservation system and "fluid" scheduling they probably go bought out by private equity and it seems like they are running themselves into the ground. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANYTHING!
