I came for the trivia. No surprise there. Can I review the trivia locations in town or would that bore you? I liked the trivia set-up here more than Rogue. It was more difficult and I appreciate that. Drink: it was hard to read the drink menu from where I was sitting because it was low (4' off the ground) and behind another table with people. There seemed to be a pretty reasonable selection. This is beer country, though, and I've yet to be disappointed in beer selections (still developing a palette though). Food: I went for the Monday special: burger and beer. I was pleased to be informed that meant any burger (but one) on the menu. My burger was well cooked, the avocado was very fresh, the bun delicious. My fries were nice and crispy. Service: My poor waiter. I was so busy gabbing and demanding attention from the other person at the table he had to come back like 4 times to get my order. I was one of those customers. But he was very friendly about it and returned regularly. Towards the end, my water wasn't refilled, but I dealt. Restrooms: They weren't exactly in the restaurant, but they were nearby and clean, although with only two stalls there was a bit of a wait to use them. My boyfriend and I are about ready to move out of the Eugene area so we are trying to eat at as many cool local places as possible. We had heard wonderful things about this place so it was a must on our list and well......not impressed. The food was adequate, even good, but the service was atrocious! We stood at the entry way for a good five minutes before finally getting someone's attention to be told we seat ourselves. It was another 5 minutes to get menus and 10 minutes after that before we were checked on by our server (who had a large beard, with what appeared to be sweat or water in it) asked if we were ready but before we could answer, immediately left our table to help another group since he had forgotten one of their drinks. He was inattentive, slow, and clearly trying to juggle too much. When out food arrived, my boyfriend ordered another side of ranch but it never came. Our napkins had been on our plates for 15 minutes before we could finally flag down our server for our check. He proceeded to give three other tables their checks before ours. We finally just left exact cash on the table and walked out. We saw lots of your employees just standing at the bar, not doing anything then racing to do too much when they realized they were getting behind. Plus the mash up of music from the kitchen and restaurant was absolutely awful. I would love to order food from you guys and have it delivered since we were happy with our food but the atmosphere and service was some of the worst I have experienced in a long time. read more

Did I mention yet how, to a Californian, the lack of sales tax in OR is a great incentive to go out every night while you're there? Our second night in Eugene found us at Cornucopia, sort of an upscale Barney's, if you're familiar with that chain in the Bay Area. Good values in inexpensive local wines, great veggie options and burgers (although the name "Vurger" is a little off-putting) and fries were the perfect thing for our group that night. We got out a little late, and most places had closed by the time we got there on Sunday night, and our only other option was a much more spendy place around the corner. We might try it next time, but Cornucopia hit the spot on a rainy Sunday night. And a bill with no sales tax . . . Rude hostess could not stop and talk....no they were not busy....ran ahead to seat us amongst a bunch of kids when we wanted to sit in the bar and watch the games. She would not stop to listen to us. This place definitely has a different 'feel' from their first location. While the 17th Ave location has a super casual, meet up with your friends here after the game-vibe, the new 5th ave location is a little nicer. Out of the two, it's the one where I would (and did) take my mom for lunch. The table ended up splitting the All American Burger, the Va Va Voom Swiss and Shroom Vurger, and a Cobb Salad. The Vurger was by far the table's favorite, even among the hard-core carnivores in the group. The tempeh is just so well seasoned! The cobb salad was pretty good although I was hoping for chunks of turkey in it but got sliced up cold cuts instead. Wait staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Wait times to be seated and to get our food was surprisingly long considering we came at 1:30pm on a Thursday. read more

Last handful of times we've been in here, the quality of the food has gone downhill as has the service. Waiting 20 minutes to be given menus then we had to stop him before he took off, to order a single beer. Never was checked on again - had to request my bill when we finally tired of hoping for a 2nd round of beers. Then the waiter forgot my to go order (could be that was because he wouldn't write anything down?) Food also was not what I ordered - Philly cheese STEAK has steak, not ground burger. Hadn't been in a while so we decided after a long day of packing and moving stuff to grab dinner here the other night. The food is pretty consistent. The service is okay. Had the bloody mary (Contrary Mary as they call it at the 5th st. location) which is pretty good (hey, it comes with a beer back). Came in on a Tuesday afternoon in May. The place was pretty busy when we arrived. We were craving burgers and this place came highly recommended. The burgers & fries were good. The burgers were cooked to a perfect medium, the buns were toasted just right and the fries were crispy. Definitely a great place to grab burgers and drinks in a casual atmosphere. Taking off 1 star for a lack of team work. Our bartender was doing the best he can while mixing drinks, taking orders, serving food and seating people. We saw 2 waitresses as we waited to be seated, but didn't see them again the entire time we were there. Despite our bartender seemingly having to do everything himself, he still managed to provide us good service. Overall it was a good experience. We will definitely come back next time we visit Eugene. I was told to go to Cornucopia to try some of the best burgers in Eugene, and my husband and inwere not disappointed. Huge portions, good local beer rotation, decent fries (I really enjoyed the sweet potato fries), and other options such as sliders and chicken tenders (even with gluten free breading). We have also had their food delivered to David Minor while we watched a movie, which we enjoyed. They have a great quintessential Eugene location by the train tracks in the 5th street area near the Shelton Mcmurphy House. There are a few outdoor tables as well. Expect a pretty divey feel inside with lower lighting and a pretty noisy crowd- it's a popular spot! Expect to pay around $15 a meal which is not cheap for a burger joint in my opinion, but definitely worth trying. read more

We had these skillet nachos with shrimp, and I look forward to coming back to try the other varieties of nachos. Slight downside: cornucopia should start peeling their cucumbers for their salads. I love the 17th street location for its atmosphere and neighborhood feel. But the reasons not to go there are many: service is always terrible; if you have more than one other person in your party you will wait; the table selection isn't good- you'll often end up far too close to another party whose conversation irritates. So we solely go to the 5th street location now, and even further, we attempt to sit in **~*~*Kaye's**~~**~* section because she RULES. Always great service. She's pretty much what makes me a fan of this location and ABSOLUTELY what makes us come back, as a couple, and as a family. read more

Applebees on steroids, Cornucopia wants to be more than it is. Funky decor. Great looking bar. Well designed rooms for sitting and eating. Cornucopia looks like a Eugene staple. The service is good. The menu is thick. Is it a bar? A restaurant? A bit of both? Sure, yes, all of the above. But for all Cornucopia has going for it, it just lacks that something that makes it POP! The food is fine, I guess. But I've never had anything here where I'm going "Oh, yeah, this is what this place is known for!" I've had the burgers, they're fine. And the Cheesesteak (it's fine, I guess.) The fries are fine. And the appetizers are all okay. Is there a menu item here that says "This is what Cornucopia rocks at! This is what you come here for!" If so, I haven't found it. To be honest, if Cornucopia wasn't as well decorated, wasn't in this great part town, and hadn't invested as much in design, I'd give it four stars. I mean, part of what I review on is "what is being promised?" A dinky restaurant in Scio with great food gets judged differently than a hotspot in Washington DC. Cornucopia seems to want to be really awesome but it's just...well...not. It's fine, I eat here. But there's better food nearby, check out Casablanca a short walk away for better grub. read more

Holy deliciousness! My boyfriend and I are hot wing aficionados as a fact and we both agree that Cornacopia's hot wings are ranked in our top five. We couldn't get enough! The waitress was friendly, colorful, conversational and made sure we had a pleasant experience. I ordered a porter which complimented my salad nicely. The other half ordered a spicy pepper-strewn burger that made me want to forget about my unfortunate beef allergy and take it from him. He lifted the burger from its nest of crispy french fries, gooey pepper jack cheese oozed in every direction. It was gone in less than 8 minutes. Cornucopia is the great restaurant in Eugene. Everyone who works there has the best energy. Especially in the morning - Saturday in particular. The bartender Stephen made the best drinks in all of town! The hostess with the mostess Emily was attentive and fast and sat us in the perfect location. The other server - Kasey (i believe) - seemed to have the best attitude and was very pleasant when dropping off our food! The food was scrumptious! Props to the chef. Restaurants are like people... Often we either immediately click with them or instantly put them on our "be wary" and "don't trust this place" list. Last week, Cornucopia and I immediately clicked! And the server that helped make that happen was Travis--a truly friendly, cheerful and very professional younger chap with an easy smile and sincere persona. I had just stepped off the plane a few days earlier from Kauai, where I've been living for the last year. So needless to say, I'm used to the Aloha spirit, which includes a friendliness and feeling of familyhood that is often not felt here on the mainland USA. The place was busy. We sat ourselves outside with Travis' help and he let us know immediately that, because of trivia night, that they were busy - - only one server and one bartender! I let him know, hey, take your time, we're easy, I'm on Hawaiian time. Well I must have said the magic words because from then on it felt like Travis gave us top shelf service, from quickly taking our orders, to being consistently and appropriately present and checking in on us--even getting us CUSTOM made made virgin bloody Mary's since their mix had alcohol in it. The kitchen must have been firing on all cylinders because although almost every table was filled inside and out, we got our food within ten minutes, with all the extra sauces! Travis even remembered the local aardvark hot sauce as well. Service was perfect, without a glitch or hitch. A 10/10. Food was solid and delicious : 9/10. Virgin bloody Marys with Tabasco and lime : 10/10 Outside atmosphere : 8/10. The kids like to come out and smoke near the outdoor tables. Bleck. My new friend and I were impressed. Not only was Travis good but he exuded genuine sincerity and made sure to engage in small talk--or as we call it on the islands: talk story. Kudos to Cornucopia for such incredible service and extraordinary fish tacos - - and the special sauce was unbelievably delicious too! And honestly, it's worth stating the truth :You did yourself a huge favor by hiring Travis! Travis, keep up the good work. You never missed a beat. Went back again and the burgers are frick'n awesome. I tried the Mushroom Swiss burger and it was equally as good as my other burger. I will work my way through the selection of burgers :) I hope more Eugene-ians find their way here and experience this carnivorous delight and rate it appropriately. This is a legit burger and some of the locals don't understand what a gem they have in their backyard. My gf got the chicken pot pie and she loved it but wished that the crust was in the bottom of the pie as well instead of just on top. Otherwise all was culinarily spectacular again. read more

Had dinner there tonight, I left feeling like I paid too much and didn't really feel full. I went with a friend, we had an appetizer and two entrees and it cost over $40. It was very basic, fried food that was highly over priced... The sandwich I had was $13 and it had barely any meat on it. Another not-so-great thing is that I left with my clothes smelling like cooking oil REALLY bad. The service was good and prompt, but prices were way too high for what I received and really wasn't that great. read more

I love Cornucopia! My boyfriend, friends and I come here a lot, and have been for the past few years. The food is great and consistent, and there is always something good on tap. If I am not sure about a beer, they are always great about bringing me a sample. The mixed drinks are great too, they never skimp on the booze. They also recently started making their own deli meats, and the sandwiches are so flipping good. I see a lot of complaints about the service on here, and they are slow at times but we are always there to enjoy ourselves and not rushing to get out of there. Our servers are always super friendly too. I thought I would finally give them a review on here since it is our #1 spot to hang out. :) read more

The woman who introduced herself and said she would bring out drinks said she was not going to take our order. Waited quite a while and she came back to tell us he was coming. (A perk of eating out in the patio perhaps?) While he finally came It was non=eventful and I don't remember his name. When we did get our food, that was it. The food again was super. Grilled cheese and tomato soup for me. Burger and tots for my husband. We'd go back to eat. But, cautious we can get serviced outside hopefully. And yes, he came back to bring the bill. I was very disappointed. Way overpriced, chicken strips were $12.75 added onion rings for $2.65. The onion rings were undercooked Frozen onion rings and the chicken portions were really small and over breaded. Worst $15.40 ever spent on chicken strips and onion rings. Busy Friday Lunch. We were sat within 3 min and promptly given water. Since this was our first time there we took our time looking at menu which is possibly why no one checked on us. For a place called "Cornucopia", they have a surprising lack of burger toppings. That said, they do know how to make a well-done burger. The fish tacos and hush puppies are also really good. Sadly this place has gone downhill. I have had the slowest service the last 4 times (why do I keep going back?! Oh, cuz you can't mess up the beer!) And the food is terrible. Had a turkey provolone and it was the saddest sandwich of my life. I am guessing that the reason my experience at this particular restaurant was so horrible is because I simply was at the wrong location on the wrong day at the wrong time--either way, it really is unacceptable customer service! I had eaten at the Cornucopia location on 17th and really, really enjoyed my burger! It was juicy, large, and most importantly--HOT. So, I thought I'd take my Dad to dinner here to show off Eugene cuisine as we are both foodies. It was Monday night and we unfortunately arrived just before Trivia started. A good half an hour before trivia started, though. We both ordered the burger and brew special. We were sat at a two person table in a very cramped spot even when there were other more spacious spots available at that time. It was so cramped I even asked the waiter if we'd be in the way sitting there and if we should be seated elsewhere! He said no and then extended the table next to us, which made it even more cramped, but not too uncomfortably so. Here is where it gets bad. We received our brews as the people next to us at the extended table proceeded to take it upon themselves to extend their table again, literally blocking me in my seat. I had to stand up and move my chair aside twice for people to scoot in past us. The waiter, who later apologized for "regulars who were being rude", had an attitude when I stood up and notified him that we were moving to a table outside. At this point 30 minutes have passed. We have changed tables and our brews are half gone. No food. I went inside and asked our waiter if he knew we changed our seats and he replied that he was aware. The trivia started and we waited about 15 more minutes, although my father at this point expressed his lack of enthusiasm for whatever cold food might be headed our way. I talked up Cornucopia and said it would all be worth it when he tried the burger. Unfortunately, he was correct and our burgers were GROSS. Finally, our waiter came out and I KID YOU NOT, asked us, with our nearly empty beverages, if we wanted our check yet!!! We gawked for a minute at him, I have to admit, and then said that we would really like our food first. We received two cold and incorrect orders. When I went inside to grab our waiter, I literally saw him take our water glasses from our previous table and take them to new customers. After some investigation, by our waiter, into our cold food, it was determined that my father, in fact, had the correct order. I watched my incorrect order, which I picked apart with my fingers to determine was incorrect, be brought back inside and returned to the line of orders waiting to be delivered to hungry customers. Both my father and I were unable to finish our cold burgers, which did not live up to in any way my previous experience with Cornucopia at the other location. The place was busy, but not so busy that our waiter has any valid excuse for A. BEING RUDE and B. FORGETTING JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT WAS COMMUNICATED TO HIM ABOUT OUR ORDER. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this location although I have convinced my Dad to give the other location a go--hopefully, I do not AGAIN REGRET MY PURCHASE. read more

Been here 3 times now, our burgers are always good, and their hot wings are great. (Honestly never ordered anything else). They've got a nice selection of beers usually, too. Problems: the wait staff tends to get distracted. We've had to stand waiting for a long time at a not busy time to get seated, and have had our beers "forgotten" and had to request them again. Also, had issues getting seated and then never given water/napkins/drink orders or seen a waiter for 10 minutes and had to hunt them down. Mixed feelings as this has happened both in semi-busy times, and slow times. Their food is good though, so if you don't mind sitting for a long time, go ahead and enjoy! read more
