I ate at Cornucopia many years ago, before the major renovation. The new open air ambience is a definite improvement. That was a big plus. We had a reservation for 7:30 p.m. for a party of five so we arrived promptly. It took them over 10 minutes to take us to a table on the outside patio. The patio was nice but it also became apparent later that this is where they deposit people they don't want to spend a lot of time waiting on. Our server was a sweet young woman but her attention didn't seem to be on us when we ordered. We ended up waiting for our food for over an HOUR. A couple that was seated beside us soon after we arrived got their food in about 20 minutes. Nothing any of us ordered was especially complicated. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and fries. I will say the sandwich was pretty tasty but the fries were barely warm and tasted like they were out of a bag. One of us ordered the spaghetti carbonara but she showed us that it barely had any bacon in it at all. It was mostly pasta. For $18, that's insane. Cornucopia used to be a good place to eat. But waiting over an hour for expensive mediocre food is not worth a return visit. Cashiers now has plenty of good dining options, I'll be trying one of them next time. read more

It's a beautiful restaurant inside, great natural lighting. The staff is polite and very accommodating. The food is a little pricey. Some things are portioned better than others. I had the curry chicken salad, which was wonderful, but there didn't seem to be much there. It said "greens" on the menu. It came with a piece of lettuce that was set on the melon under the chicken. I was left wanting more food but didn't want to order more because of the price. My husband got a club sandwich and that was plenty of food, a huge sandwich Their lemonade tasted like it was fresh squeezed, not that crappy minute maid stuff All in all, I'd go again! read more

The atmosphere here was great! Lots of outdoor space. We waited 45 minutes in line to order food on a Monday night! Service was really slow. Looked as if one employee was doing everything (running food, stocking ice, cleaning tables) while the others were not doing much of anything. Someone else should have been taking orders. I'd at least like to sit at my table with drinks & wait than stand in line. The food was good. Not too many options but that is what I expect for bar food. Overall was good. Dog friendly. Food quality was similar to a diner. I had the fried chicken salad with honey mustard dressing and my husband had a BLT with avocado and fries. Both were good but nothing to rave about. They've got good fries so I would recommend paying extra and skipping the chips. Our food was brought out very fast and portion sizes were reasonable. We sat at the bar and ordered a drink each. We tried the st. Germain + prosecco and the peach moonshine + prosecco. The girl tending bar, I won't even call her a bartender, seemed clueless. She couldn't find the liquors for our drinks because she didn't know what they looked like. She popped open a prosecco bottle so violently the cork went flying. The second time she needed to open the bottle she called over someone else. She and two other girls collaborated on making our very simple spirit+prosecco drinks. The cucumber slice on husbands drink was 1/2 thick and each of our drinks were very strong. These were no four ounce wine pours with a 1 ounce addition of alcohol. Not that I'm complaining but it was comical to watch. (I will say I left the restaurant tipsy and I'm glad I didn't have to drive.) When I ordered the Appalachian Bellini (what a name), one of the waitresses tried to dissuade me from choosing it. She told me someone had sent it back the previous night. What confidence. She nor the other waitress had tried the drink so they couldn't tell me why the previous customer didn't like it. It's made of canned peaches steeped in moonshine with prosecco. I was asked if I wanted my peaches crushed... I'm supposed to tell you how to make this $11 cocktail?? Shaking my head over here as I write this review. Ate here twice in the past few weeks, because I had to go back and have the sandwich again. I got the Grilled Chicken Club. It was very delicious both times. It's mostly beautiful weather in the mountains so the outdoor seating is perfect. I was there for lunch both times. The first time was peak time, very crowded and I had my toddler and infant with me. We waited 10-15 minutes to be seated. Pros: The food was amazing and so very fresh, you could just taste everything was high quality and ripe. Perfect portions to fill you up. The kids meal of grilled ham and cheese was a large portion but I was most happy it came with fruit and some fruit snacks for a treat after. Cons: It took about 45 minutes to get the food - a LONG time to wait if you have kids with you. A two hour lunch meal is a bit much. I would think they could do better in peak tourist season. I came back with just my husband and we grabbed two seats at the bar immediately. The food was still very good. He got the Pimento Cheeseburger. Since the county now allows alcohol to be served, the bar is a nice addition. Definitely worth the meal. read more

They did not honor our reservation for 12 made weeks ahead of time. I wish I could write good things about a restaurant I had heard good things about. Problem is that I did not get the chance to eat there because they cancelled my reservation. Normally, the restaurant only takes reservations for parties of 10 or more. I was entertaining 12 clients for whom I made a reservation for lunch 2 weeks prior. The day before I called the restaurant to reconfirm the reservation and to inform them that we would be about 15 minutes late. The employee who took the call (and who didn't seem to care or know much about what he was doing) confirmed that it was all good. On the day, the first of my clients arrived at a restaurant; they were about 15 minutes late coming in due to the fact that they could not find parking. Upon arrival, they were unceremoniously told that the restaurant could not afford to lose business so they gave the tables away to the patrons who were waiting in line. Turns out that the employee who took the call the day before did not indicate that we would be late. Moreover, no one from the restaurant bothered to call me or text me to inform me that they would give the tables away if we did not show up promptly. There is no policy stated on their website about cancelling a reservation after so many minutes. All of my clients were restaurant managers and executive chefs. I was looking forward to treating them to a nice meal a the restaurant; we ended up eating somewhere else because the management at Cornucopia did not even have the decency to communicate with us ahead of time. Maybe one doesn't care when there's a line of people waiting to eat there, so this review will basically go ignored. But, nothing will change the shameful manner in which the restaurant handled itself in this situation. As they say in the F&B industry - it's the quality of service stupid - Cornucopia failed in delivering even the most basic of the courtesies. I could have gotten a better burger in town at Wendy's for half the price. The burgers were clearly frozen patties, pre-cooked and then charred to warm them back up. We ordered medium well and received a charred very dry piece of meat. At $11 a burger, one would expect a much better experience. The waitress couldn't tell me what kind of cheese was on the cheese fries. As they have a cheese shop with an impressive selection, I expected something more than below average cheddar and jack cheese on the fries. Surprisingly, they do an impressive amount of business. I have been sitting at this restaurant for 1.75 hours and my entire table has still not received our dinner order. My brother is waiting for a Caesar salad and still hasn't received it. How can a restaurant make its patrons wait close to 2 hours for food especially when they have little toddlers at the table is beyond me? Clueless waitress and management staff. Don't even waste your time. I'd rather be eating a pbj sandwich at home. Sad because it is a really cute place but this restaurant is a disaster. read more

We ate lunch there 7-8-17. We went to the bar to get a glass of wine while we waited for a table. The gray headed bartender was rude to not only me and my husband, but to 2 elderly ladies and 2 other couples. It was unbelievable. He told the elderly ladies they could find somewhere else to eat. The entire bar (only about 10 seats) were talking about him. We had a better experience at the table and our food was good. If you want to enjoy a cocktail before dinner while you wait on a table, let me suggest bringing your own booze while waiting in the parking lot for your buzzer to go off. I hate to give Cornucopia a 3, but I just couldn't get past the rudeness of the bartender. read more

Honestly some of the best food in the CashiersHighlands area and beyond. Best dish for dinner is the fried chicken- deliciously covered in honey! Best for lunch is hard to choose because everything is amazing, but you can't go wrong with the black bean burger or the regular burger with a fried egg on top! A few of the past reviews that were not flattering might have been people in a rush. We have eaten at a number of restaurants here in Cashiers/Highlands and each have required having patience and relaxing. Do that and you'll get some great food. We stopped by for lunch and they have a specific outdoor seating for those of us traveling with dogs. The staff responded with a bowl of water for Maggie and drinks for us. The menu has a good variety and each of our meals was very good. I had the Mandarin Chicken Salad for lunch which was great....and that evening I went back and has the Black and Blue Salad (with Flank steak) which was cooked perfectly. My wife had the Haddock which she enjoyed. The older gentleman from Venezuela (not sure if he manages or owns) came to our table and was absolutely delightful. So take this advise....in a hurry go to Wendy's.....want good food and atmosphere...come here. We did twice. read more

This is a cute little farmhouse style restaurant. This first time I had the food was taken out and only mediocre. The second time I went, I had a salad in house and it was quite excellent !! Stopped by Cashiers because we had enough of the overpriced, pretentious, delusional Highlands restaurants. This is the best food we had all week (including all of the $$$$ restaurants in Highlands), and the service was outstanding to boot. Appetizers were better than our main courses, tbh. Green beans, biscuits and gravy were yummy. Great comfort food in a cool, family venue at reasonable prices. Would steer clear of the sandwiches in the future. read more

One of my favorite places to have lunch.. The fried chicken salads with the ginger sesame dressing is to die for. We wait patiently for them to open in the spring. Then we get so busy in the summer and only get to eat there a couple of times. Chris`s favorite is the Rubin the corn beef is slices so thin and the Russian dressing is made from scratch. To finish up your meal with a home made Pecan Pie and then you are in hog heaven When in Cashiers visit the Cornie, I give it 5 stars. read more

I was actually seated this time around (and they were legitimately busy)! The food is good, I had the burger with bacon and cheese. The waitress I had was not good though. She barely spoke to us and was always very terse and didn't respond to my friendly comments asking about menu items. At one point we asked for refills and extra napkins (sweet tea and water). We could see the pitches of both drinks sitting on the other side of the patio window. She came back almost instantly with water but didn't bring sweet tea or napkins for 15 more minutes and then brusquely put them on the table without a word and with no response to our "thank yous". The interesting thing is we never prompted her to bring the sweet tea or napkins after the initial request, meaning she didn't forget, she just didn't do it. Tip: If you're dressed for the weather, ask for a table outside for wait times under 5min during peak times. read more

Food was very good however we waited so long for service I had to get some one. It's dog friendly, they made us sit outside with my dogs who were in a stroller. Then we saw a dog in the main part of the restaurant on a leash. It was at least 10 degrees cooler in there. I was not happy. read more

Our local favorite!!! Good honest food... love the Wade Hamptons Downfall sandwich!!! Our all time favorite! Had a Scott's black bean burger on gluten free bread last time I was there! Off the charts yummy if you are feeling vegetarian! Salads are salads...fresh and good quality. An Arnold Palmer ice tea is fabulous WITH an orange slice instead of lemon slice!!! Squeeze it and stir...you will never taste better! Burgers are good too... but might be cooked past your favorite temperature so order accordingly. The restaurant was nice, the food had the potential to have been enjoyed by all, but the wait for the food (a good 45 minutes) was horrendous and it didn't help that it was delivered and set down at the wrong table and stayed there until they figured it out and then delivered to our table cold. To add to this, we couldn't get the server's attention for additional syrup (ended up asking another server) and absolutely no refills on the drinks or asking how everything was (we think she was hiding).
