BEWARE before you rent from Corolla Classic Vacations by Vacasa!!!! "Cancellation Policy: If you cancel within 24 hours of booking, you'll receive a full refund. After that (unless stated otherwise in the home description and unit-specific terms), if you cancel 30 or more days before the first night of your reservation, you'll receive a refund of any rental payments you've made, minus the booking fee." We reserved a beach house in June 2022 for the next year June 2023. My first payment was $4226 and another payment due in 2023. I cancelled that reservation 6 weeks later. They charged me 10% of my total bill $803. That's some "booking fee" for them considering the house was only off the market 6 weeks one year in advance. read more

Extremely poor customer service and responsiveness. Wouldn't answer the phone, wouldn't call back, and wouldn't reply to emails in a timely manner. You expect to get something of value for your money when you pay almost $4,000 for a week stay. This rental property failed to provide basic necessities and supplies to make an extended stay comfortable. If you're going to require your guests to "...gather all dirty dishes and run them through the dishwasher," then you need to supply dishwasher soap. If you ask your guests to "wipe down the stove and oven daily..." you ought to provide some type of cleaner. Sheets and blankets had holes in them. Most of the blankets had people and animal hair on them and stunk. When we went to wash the blankets the washer turn knob came right off making the washer un-usable. Bathrooms were dingy and dirty. We weren't allowed to put the thermostat lower than 72 degrees which means there was likely something wrong with their system but they don't want to get it fixed. Many of the outside lounge chairs were cracked. The whole experience was disappointing to say the least. We'll be avoiding this home in the future. read more

We rented Flights of Fancy 478. Not cheap. We rented during COVID (middle of June) and were told bedding would be left wrapped in plastic on each bed and that there would be no bedspreads, but washed blankets would be in closets. Many of the beds were made (which was fine) and the blankets that were available were wadded up in a couple closets and clearly not remotely clean. Almost every blanket I pulled out had knotted hair and/or bits of stuck on Doritos and other choice food items clinging to it. There was trash greeting us when we pulled into the driveway. Random bits of whatever the last person left and whatever had possibly blown in, but more likely what was left behind. I didn't even open the outdoor shower because of the random items peeking out at me from under the walls. There was trash under (I do not exaggerate) every bed. There was even a half-eaten PopTart on one of the top bunks (that got tossed in a gross-out panic by my daughter before I could take a photo). Open food, wrappers, drink bottles... And then the rain. It rained the first few days we were there. Then it started to rain inside. The leaks came through the roof into the master and master bathroom. This was clearly not the first time, based on all the stains on the ceilings and walls. We put out pans and bowls to catch the rain. We arrived on the 14th. On the 15th I emailed CCV to let them know about the trash and the leaks. They responded offering housekeeping to come back and asked about the leaks. I did not take them up in housekeeping, and told them the trash would remain under the beds and in the carport. I did not feel like having people in the house-- we've been sheltering in place for months, why are we going to invite people in to do another half-assed job when we have nowhere else to go while they clean? I sent them photos of the leaks. I sent them photos of the leaks and did not hear anything for two days. I sent photos to the main email and to the maintenance email. The house has new carpet, which I found strange since the house allows dogs. Who carpets a dog house? Clearly someone who's had a flood. No one emailed me back and no one called and the water started coming into the floor below. Then the ceiling in the main floor bedroom, where my daughter was sleeping, started to buckle and the popcorn started falling off in sheets. I finally called and spoke to someone at CCV. I let them know I couldn't believe the zero response to my emails. Maintenance came over after that. The ceiling was bulging and had dropped into the bathroom. The smell was awful. (Mold.) The maintenance guys were impressed. They said they'd have to send over a contractor. Here I am, trying to avoid people who are in my house at home, only to have to deal with this house where they are inconveniencing me so they can rent it out the next week. As the leaks got worse, I continued to send photos to CCV. I asked to talk to a manager and was put on hold for no one to ever pick up. I emailed several more times, as well as left voice messages for the property manager-- Whom I have STILL not heard from. The contractor came WITHOUT A MASK and said there was no way he could deal with this big of a problem (no kidding). We had to leave two and a half days early. The weather was great and the leaks had dried up, but the smell, and obvious mold, in the house were too much to deal with. And if it rained again, we just didn't want to deal with any of it anymore. The fact that no one addressed any of our very serious concerns while we were there was disappointing and froBecause everything is paid for ahead of time, why would they care, really? I have been renting from CCV since 2008 but this is, most likely, going to have been the last time. We rented Corolla Gold #434. The location and views from the top floor are spectacular. However, the house had been recently painted and the screens were not returned to the main windows which means losing the cross breeze. The windows in the main dining room were not painted and several of the windows, once opened, had to be closed from outside by aligning them and pressing them closed. The pool should have been heated while we were there, but I had to go to the CCV offices to get the heat turned on. Folks came out and added water to the pool and did something else, so the second day we had heat. The third day it was back off again. After 5 days of this, we finally ran into the pool folks in person who informed us that the water needed to be at a certain level to keep the heat running. Unfortunately, that meant we had to feel the pool for over 2 hours each day; there is definitely some type of systemic problem with the pool. My daughter, who stayed in the basement KBR, had a similar problem to another commenter. When she opened the shower door, it fell on her. The downstairs bathroom was filled with cobwebs and spiders. Our second day there, the upper oven blew out. And when I say, blew out, I mean it. There was smoke and flames. My daughter thought to turn it off and keep it closed until the smoke cleared. We were told it would be fixed and we kept checking the element to see if it had been replaced. As we were there for 12 days, we had some time. On the Thursday before we left, it appeared to have been fixed, but I didn't want to turn it on until I checked with CCV. I went to the offices only to be told that CCV had not been notified by the vendor whether or not the oven had been fixed and I shouldn't use it until I heard back from CCV. I never heard back by the time we left. There were windows that had wooden inserts to make the glass look as though it had panes. Half of those were broken or falling out or had been removed. The thermostats were set at 70 when we checked in to the house; it very clearly says in the house "book" (and if you've been in OBX before you already know) that thermostats should never be set lower than 72. The tiki bar in the pool area was a mess - the cabinet doors were hanging by their hinges, the water didn't work and the fridge was completely rusted out and non-functional. The outdoor showers didn't work at all. I loved the home as a whole but if CCV is responsible for the maintenance they're doing a less than stellar job of it. I was also promised multiple times that the pool issue would be pro-rated - I wrote to the company and the manager told me she would get back to me the beginning of the week. Well, it's Thursday - you missed you deadline. I visited the CCV offices no less than 4 times during our stay. Thankfully, a very nice gentleman came out after the first time and did what he could. read more

RUN!!!! Don't walk away from renting from this company. If I could give negative stars I would. Twice!!! They screwed us out of our rental homes. Called to have rental moved to another date for large group gathering. Corolla Classic Vacations confirmed the home was available for the new date and the change was made. Didn't receive revised contract so called again and again was told changes were made and contract was in the works. Still didn't receive it. Checked again and was told home was now not available and that they didn't have our reservation. Was told I would get a call back from person who I worked with to help find something else. Never got a call back. Called 5 times with no one answering and no call backs. Now it's too late and we have no rental. Will only give us back our already paid $9000.00 IF the home is rented out for previously rented week that they screwed up on. This company is unethical and does not care about their clients!!!!!! They screwed 8 children and their families of a family reunion and birthday celebration that we've planned on since November of last year. read more

https://www.vacasa.com/unit.php?UnitID=44765 Retriever's Rest OH4 - Corolla, NC USA North Carolina Corolla Ocean Hill - Outer Banks Listing #44765 Worst rental experience ever.  My wife and I have been going to the OBX for decades, love Corolla and always stay there.  We rented this property because we wanted to be on the beach and ocean.  It looks fantastic on-line and we paid about $9,000/week in June 2021.   The house was plagued with maintenance issues which culminated with an infestation of flying bugs.  We were there six days when I woke up and found the entire 3rd floor coated in dead or dying insects.  We know the OBX, we know about the insects.  This was literally an infestation level.  I spent 90 minutes wiping down the counters, vacuuming the furniture and sweeping the floor.  I amassed huge piles of bugs in the process, certainly in the thousands.  My wife had cleaned the entire floor the day before so this was all from one night.  All of the insects were the most highly concentrated by any ceiling vents.  The ceiling was also covered in various spots by these same, mostly dead bugs. My wife and my brother would not stay any longer after this.  I had promptly contacted VACASA (we rented through Corolla Classic Vacations) all week about various failings in maintenance and finally with this.  I told them we were leaving and we needed a refund.  They kept trying to play it off as 'this always happens' and 'it's the OBX we get bugs from time to time.'  I told them to look at the photos and films I had taken - this was an explosion of bugs, clearly one more case of poor maintenance that led to infestation.  It seemed very clear that at least initially they never looked at the photos and films I took.  I also raised the other maintenance issues in my final conversations with them.  They said 'you should have reported those items' and I told them I had called VACASA as they were identified. We stayed 6 days of the 14 we rented.  I asked for a prorated refund of 8 days based on the actual cost paid.  This is quite reasonable.  They gave us one week back but only because THEY RERENTED THE PROPERTY FOR THE WEEK WE VACATED.  They stated clearly that had it not rented again we would get nothing. At the bottom are a list of the maintenance issues we noted.  Many of these items were clearly long-standing, no one could be bothered to fix them.  I understand this is a rental property and keeping it occupied is a priority but even at the expense of the renters?  $9,000 per week and they could not be bothered to fix routine maintenance items? Gate on deck is broken and the horizontal board for the top of the fence is off. Plenty of nails sticking out. There were about four other boards of this type missing on the side of the house facing the ocean A grill that was mounted on a steel post into concrete on the side had rusted out completely and snapped off.    It was just laying there.  A new portable grill was under the house, this was a known issue. The hot tub lid was broken. The cover part that's vinyl was torn and the internal part that is Styrofoam was broken off Plenty of garden hose just pulled all over the property when we got here clearly no one even cared to put it away I found two trash cans full of trash that I had to put in the driveway as soon as we got there. As a renter who's paid a small fortune for this house I can't believe I had to put out the trash for the last tenant Multiple lamps and lights throughout the house did not work. Also at least a half dozen of the blinds were broken in one fashion or another. The coffee pot was filthy when we checked in and the number of the dishes were dirty we had to put them all in the dishwasher and run it The closet door of the folding closet door in the master bedroom on the south side of the second floor barely worked and when you open it it had an ear piercing screech The ice machine was not set up properly and so it was fully blocked with ice. The fireplace was full of ash, no one had cleared it for a long time. I was given two codes to get into the house when we first checked in. That was at best confusing The cipher lock stopped working one night. It was completely dead. I was required to call maintenance and they came the next day and had to reset it. I asked what we do if it happens again and no one's in the house to let us in. The maintenance guy told us if we "complain enough they'll allow me to replace it." This was rather infuriating as it is a safety issue Also there were issues with insects since we checked in but what occurred the final night was over the top and an explosion of bugs.  My wife had vacuumed the entire top floor the day before so all of the bugs in the photos were from one night - I initially went upstairs around 3:30 AM and first saw the explosion of dead bugs. They successfully rented a house. After that they were not very good. Everyone I spoke to there was too important or too busy to be helpful or even friendly. Worse they could not get their stories straight. One told me I needed to check in and get a packet. When I went to check in and get the packet I was rudely told I did not need a packet. I tried to get mid week hot tub service, for which I was willing to pay. I was first told it might be included and then told it was included and would be done Wednesday. Having learned they were not reliable I called again and spoke to someone else who said it was included, most likely, and they would be there for sure on Tuesday. Needless to say they never showed. Lastly, we had ants on day one. I called and asked for ant bait. They said no but that they would send an exterminator. No exterminator appeared. read more

We stayed at a property (430) through Corolla Classic Vacation (8/24-31/2019). The experience was extremely poor. Please read before you rent. Saturday: found a leaky toilet in the hall bath on 2nd floor. called for maintenance. Sunday: maintenance came and changed some parts in toilet tank. It didn't work. Tank still leaked from time to time. Monday: WiFi did not work. drier did not work. Called Tuesday: someone came to work on the drier, after a while, declared that he could not fix it: new parts need to be ordered. WiFi could not be fixed either. Called again. Maintenance said they would bring a hot spot to swap out the WiFi box while they fix it. (for Tuesday, we had to go to a friend of ours's house to get our wet laundry dried) Wednesday, (at this point, we were calling the office twice daily.) maintenance said FedEx would deliver the parts and they would fix ASAP before 3 PM. Nothing happened. Hot spot was not very useful. New WiFi box was installed. still not working. Thursday, when called, we were told that only one part came on Wed and the other one was not delivered. But the second part would come in. Regardless of how late, even after hour, they would come in and fix the drier. Nothing happened. Friday at 11 AM, someone came in with new parts and finally fix the drier. Note, our check out date is Saturday at 10 AM. And the drier was only fixed less than 24 hours before our check out time. At around noon, another maintenance person came in to assess everything. We complained about WiFi still not working, he checked and noticed that the connection was only half plugged in. Once he fixed it, WiFi finally worked in the afternoon on Friday!!! It's been an extremely stressful vacation where we could not dry our clothes, no WiFi, and we had to daily communicate with the management. Every day, in the phone conversation, I'd ask the office to call me back with an update. They'd never done that, I always had to call back myself. Starting Wed, I had requested to speak with the manager. I received so many excuses about managers being in meeting (wed), on vacation (Thu), and would only call me back after the following week (Fri). I did not feel that there was sincerity in handling our disaster. I still have not been able to speak to anyone since we got back. We've been vacationing in OBX for ~20 years. They rented us a very expensive house, knowing after the contractors and their families (approximately 18 ppl) left the house filthy! Sanding, paint dust EVERYWHERE!!! The bottom of your shoes were white from the dust! Paint droppings everywhere. Dried food on the table...a half cut lime in the silverware drawer, disgusting! Both dishwasher filled with dishes! I had to wash all bedding before the others arrived because of the contractors dust! Broken shower in main level bath. Toilet paper rods missing. Towel rods missing. We couldn't use any outdoor furniture because it was covered in blackish built up dirt, obviously never cleaned. When we arrived Thursday, at check in, they let us know it would be a little past check in, as the construction/painters were cleaning up.....it was workers of the real estate office, there documenting the damage the workers had left. She offered a cleaning crew to us, before the rest of the family arrived from Florida and Maryland. I called the number and took them up on that...they said it wouldn't be until Friday. Finally mid day 2 ladies show up and we let them know about all of the dust....everywhere, furniture, bed frames....EVERYWHERE!!! Oh and I might add hair in the bathrooms....they went through this 3 story house in less than a half an hour, and left! They told us, "we were here yesterday day and cleaned" lol well I can see why it was so dirty! Saturday night we pushed the couch a little back, as we were playing the oculus game....there were empty yogurt cups under there! The real estate office is responsible for these cleaners to do their jobs!! I might add, they refunded me a couple hundred dollars. Yeah that made it all better.......NOT! This office was unprofessional and didn't care once they had our money! We absolutely loved the actual house! Beautiful with an amazing view! I pray the owners find out what's going on, and cares! It's a shame this real estate office doesn't care what we endured! We made the most of it, but unfortunately because of all the dust a few of us returned home sick! I won't let one bad visit stop us from returning, as we live the OBX!!!!! read more

DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENT! We love the OBX and were loyally fans of Corolla Classic Vacations (CCV) for about 15 years. When we married in the OBX years ago, we rented multiple homes through their office knowing we would have a smooth experience, and we did. The office used to be very responsive whenever we experienced concerns regarding a property we rented. That all changed this fall as we rented a home the week of September 3. We arrived the day after a tropical storm came through town causing visible damage to many homes. Our review takes into consideration the storm troubles as most of the issues mentioned in this review have nothing to do with the storm. Upon arrival at our rental PI155 - These are the Days we immediately observed many areas in need of housekeeping attention: crumbs still on the kitchen table, fingerprints on the stainless steel refrigerator, hair on the floors of all the bathrooms, dirty bathroom rugs, a contact lens on the bathroom floor, and glittered acrylic fingernails with human nails attached on the floor of my toddler's bedroom floor (yes, he found them). On the outside of the home we observed many maintenance items in need of repair or clean up: broken glass bottles, rusty bottle caps, rusty nails in the driveway and around the pool deck, 7 wasp nests in the deck levels, and a broken hammock. The pool was filled with leaves, dirt, and shingles from the storm, this remained the case until Wed afternoon. On our first day, we called CCV regarding the cleanliness and maintenance needs of the home. We provided a specific list of the items needing to be cleaned. Someone did come back to clean the next day, however all the same dirt listed above still remained. Instead of calling the office again, we spent our vacation cleaning other people's filth so we felt a bit more comfortable during our stay. At one point we considered moving to a hotel, but decided to "tough it out" considering what we paid for the rental. A few days into our vacation I walked into my child's room and found a PLASTIC BAG OF DRUGS lying next to my son's bed. There were 9 pills of a Schedule 2 controlled substance (ALZA 54) used in the treatment of ADHD and narcolepsy easily accessible to my son in a plastic bag. As a note, these were not ours. We were horrified at the thought of what could have happened. With drugs in hand, I drove up to the office to file a complaint. The two ladies at the front desk were sympathetic and courteous but weren't able to provide resolution nor did they express any urgency in trying make things right. Instead I was told I could reach the manager on Monday the following week. After I sent a follow up email documenting our experience we did hear from the manager a few weeks later, Mary provided a 2 sentence "sorry for your inconvenience" email with a small refund. After I sent another email follow up, we received another short email stating they already processed the small refund. We didn't receive the excellent customer service from CCV they state on their website. Mary's response, or lack of response is very disappointing. Next we called Nancy who said she had to research the events and would call us back. We have yet to hear from her. We expressed a variety of major issues with our stay, and we couldn't even be extended a phone call or more than a two line email response. I would like to stress that what we experienced, was more than an inconvenience, it was dangerous to our child. We selected PI155 - These are the Days for our vacation based on features that we thought we would be able to enjoy. Instead, the house turned out to be dirty, unsafe, and multiple features completely unusable to us during our stay. We didn't receive the service/accommodations that we paid for and for that we wanted to do what we could to ensure other families do not experience what we did with CCV and PI155. read more

This company did not step up the plate like they should've. The house they rented out for $7,000 was not ready to be lived in. All of the decks need to be rebuilt and every door on the upper level leaked tons of water during a rain storm. When you have families staying at one of your properties your job is of a host and to make sure their needs are met. We felt like we were on our own to fix the issues. I do not go on vacation only to find myself stressed out with all types of problems. I will never use this company again as there are so many others out there. Side note: John the maintenace guy was very nice and did all that he could to make us happy. Be prepared to have issues with your rental and prepared that they won't be resolved. This management company loses a lot of interest in you once you're 'paid in full.' We just checked out of Kite Tails (CB 38). After having the same issue with the AC (it likes to blow heat) and filing 2 requests to have it looked at we never heard back from anyone. The last request we filed was in person ( which seems like a good use of our vacation time) and after expressing that we hadn't been comfortable at all since we checked in we didn't receive so much as an 'I'm sorry' and why would they, we paid $1000.00 to stay in a house .5 miles from the beach with broken air conditioning. Did I mention it was in the 90s last week. They received there money, and don't care the slightest that you enjoy your self. There are plenty of rentals in Corolla. Go with someone else!! read more

This company was sold 2 years ago and went from good to horrible. As a home owner, we invest in making the beach house incredibly equipped and spotless prior to the season. The fact is the weekly in season cleaning and maintenance service is terrible and guest complain more and more each week as it falls further behind. By the end of the season the guest are irate and disgusted. If you want a long trip up route 12 to enter a filthy house with rude customer service (cringe!)... well... you be been warned... read more

Do not use this company. We rented from from Corolla Classic Vacations last year. The hot tub at our $6000/week rental was not serviced properly and six people developed hot tub rash. We just returned from spending Thanksgiving week in Corolla. We had a very good experience with CCV. Everyone I dealt with there was very professional and helpful. The house we stayed in was nicely decorated and very clean. I love that CCV includes linens and towels, which is one less thing I need to worry about packing. We did have an issue with a toilet while we were there. I called CCV and the plumber was there to fix it within the hour. Check in and check out were a breeze. All in all a great vacation! I would not hesitate to rent through CCV in the future! read more

First rental with CCV in a home named Dream Catcher. Upon check-in we had to request cleaning. The house had been cleaned supposedly but still was not clean. CCV sent cleaners immediately and they took care of the mess. CCV addressed problems so this review really is based upon the house and not the company itself. A few problems with the house - air conditioning is completely imbalanced. The two bedrooms in the front of the house did not cool down over the 7 day stay. The rooms were so nice but not comfortable for sleeping. The master bedroom was very nice and it had a spacious bathroom, which was very nice. The bed however was a nightmare. It was a rickety bed with a cheap, rock hard mattress. All of the beds in this house had thick memory foam pads except for the master bedroom. After two days of sleepless, painful nights I gave in and slept on the couch for the rest of the vacation. We called CCV about the bed but they sent someone over with a mattress cover which was no resolution for the horrible bed. If you rent this house bring an air mattress - you're going to need it. Problem with the direct-tv not working in the bedrooms. Turned out to be dead batteries in the remotes. CCV sent a nice man over to figure that out. The house is reasonably new, clean and comfortable. Floors in main living area on 3rd floor looked like wood but were not. They felt sticky. Rugs throughout sleeping areas. Clean enough. Laundry facility on the 2nd floor was nice. Decent kitchen, several bathrooms. Overall pretty nice. Not a lot of decorations to collect dust. The location was perfect for kids as the pool is just steps away from the back door. Beach was a short 5 minute walk away. Grocery store 20 minutes away. Dining and shopping 30 minute drive. Not bad even with traffic. One issue that really bothered us - spiders in the house. Black furry spiders that would pop up on the upholstery furniture especially in the 1st floor. Yes it is a "beach" setting but still that could be controlled with an occasional bug bomb. We will likely return to Corolla next summer but probably not to this same house. read more

My family has been vacationing in Corolla North Carolina for over 22 years now. We have used all different vacation rental companies over the past few decades and have never been so disappointed as we were this year. We have never complained once to any other rental company about the service or homes that we have rented. We rented Corolla Gold #434 from July 22-29, 2018. We had 16 family members ranging from 9 years old to 78 years of age and 1 dog in attendance for the week. We had two different birthday parties planned as well for this week. We paid for an early check in to get prepared for the first birthday party which included utilizing the gas grill. Unfortunately, early check in resulted in far less superior cleaning throughout the home especially the bathrooms. Upon stepping out to the deck on day one- we quickly realized the gas grill was not only inoperative but also grease was puddling underneath on a large mat underneath the grill. This grill was on the top floor wrap around balcony. It was not fun keeping our dog away from the grill the entire week, so he didn't eat the massive puddle of grease underneath it. My sister attempted to wipe away the grease with several paper towels with no luck. Remember this wasn't our grease but the previous several tenants. I am sure this old inoperative grill is still there now unless you removed it on Sunday 7/29/18 after we checked out. We called every single day for a new grill only to hear there weren't any replacement grills within the budget that Corolla Classics would allow the manager to spend. After multiple phone calls we finally got a grill on Thursday 7/26/2018 around 5 pm. This was 4 1/2 days after we checked in. We ate out all 4 days which certainly would not have been the case if we were able to grill. We even brought our own meat and seafood to grill from a local butcher shop in our home town. We realize the weather was rainy, however the grass was over 2 feet tall when we checked in. It was taller than our 70-pound bulldog. The yard has broken glass on both sides of the house and cactus growing within the grass all the way around the house. Without seeing the cactus due to the grass height- our 1-year old bulldog stepped right on several cactus' day one. He yelped, and we had to pick thorns out of his feet. We had to walk our dog elsewhere the remaining 7 days as it wasn't safe in the yard. This home shouldn't be listed as pet friendly unless they have landscapers clean up the cactus and glass. The grass wasn't mowed until Friday, two days before we checked out. The television sets in this house were so dated they had VHS players within the set itself. We were unable to log into Wi-Fi and had to locate the router ourselves. Normally the WI-FI code is either in the Guest book or on the refrigerator. The router was so old and dated that the Wi-Fi barely worked. It took over 10 minutes to log into my work laptop and send an important email. The maintenance employees laughed and said that the current router was way too old and dated for a house this size. The bathroom showers were filthy with mold. The basement king master bathroom shower door fell off in my daughters' arms and nearly crushed her. As she screamed for help, giant chunks of mold flew out all over the floor. The toilet seat also slid off in this same exact room while she was sitting on it. The steps to the hot tub are broken and slide apart multiple times. They are literally not connected anymore. I would suggest fixing this as quickly as possible, so someone doesn't get seriously injured. The basement sliding door lock was broken upon arrival 7/22/18. We had to call your office as all the children were sleeping in the basement. Maintenance came out and couldn't fix the slider, so they gave us a wooden pole which was too short to stop most people from coming inside if desired. The lights in my 78-year-old mother's room didn't work in the toilet closet. Also, her bedroom door doesn't lock, we called maintenance and they came out promptly. Turns out - you need to hold the entire door up as the house sank so the bolt doesn't slide properly into the hole. She's 78 years old. We just kept her bedroom door locked the entire week, so she didn't have to deal with it. The duo bunk room on the front middle level of the house literally has an oval shaped window in the bathroom that is also accessible from the front porch. The window is beautiful however there is zero curtain over it. Therefore, if you take a shower of go the bathroom- anyone standing on the front porch can see you completely naked. The kitchen was extremely disappointing. There are 5 wine glasses (not plastic ones) total on this property. There are 6 coffee mugs. And we didn't have a working toaster until we complained, and your office dropped off a brand new one that works for bagels only half of the time. read more

We have used Corolla Classic Vacations for 8 straight years and I highly recommend them. Have we had problems, yes. Everything from broken A/C , downed Internet (although internet is very new to the Island) to pool problems to even one time with a mix up about pets. However, each and every time they have done everything within their power to fix the issue. Often it is out of their hands as the island is not an easy place to get to for repairs and deliveries or it is simply the owners fault. I have found them to be responsive and easy to work with. We are going back for a 9th year, this time two weeks and we are again booking through Corolla Classic Vacations. if it is your first time booking be sure to do a lot of homework via the net. The listings varry very much from cheap to expensive. Ultimately, you're most likely not going to get a deal. When it comes to OBX, you get what you pay for. The Island is so narrow in Duck or Corolla that if you stay on the Ocean side you are never more than a 5 minute walk to the beach. Beaches are NOT crowded and it is very laid back. I recommend Late June or early July. Its too hot in August and too many bugs! Enjoy... read more

We rented the house called "Diamond Girl" a few weeks ago and had the time of our lives. Corolla Classic Vacations was extremely professional and made the experience of renting the home stress-free. The house turned out to be an amazing place. Right on the water, it provides a spectacular view of the ocean. The interior design of the home is out of a magazine. Everything they picked for the house - fabrics, tile, furniture - is close to perfection. You'll be staying at the beach but in style. Another plus is that there's nothing missing in the house. Every plate, cooking utensil (if you want to cook), appliance is there - nothing has been overlooked. This is one of those vacations that you ask yourself: "why aren't we doing this more often?" I have used Corolla Classic for 6 out of the 7 vacation years we spent in Corolla. The year we didn't stay with Corolla Classic is the only time we were unsatisfied with the home we stayed in. The staff at check in were extremely nice and helpful. They even let us check in 30 minutes early with out charging any fees. The houses have been extremely clean and very family friendly. We are getting ready to check on for our week at Whim Sea and I cannot wait to stay there again!!! read more

We just wrapped up our week at parrots in paradise and this house was such a disappointment. Your company does not maintain your houses well. We had waited around for the plumber, the appliance man, the maintenance man and the septic man. As soon as we arrived we saw the house was not clean to our standards and several of the shower curtains were moldy. The down stairs smells extremely musty and the bathroom walls have painted over mold. So we spend Saturday evening cleaning. There were two dishwashers the first one said out of order so we loaded the second one, that too was out of order. The maintenance man arrived Monday morning couldn't fix it so we waited on the appliance guy. He was able to fix it on Tuesday. On Monday morning our downstairs sinks and bath tubs started bubbling every time someone would flush. The septic was backing up. After the maintenance man came and dug up our back yard he told up the septic was full he was going to leave the lid off until the septic company could come out to pump it. He showed up on Wednesday. So we couldn't use the backyard until late Wednesday. The house is not maintained well at all. If I were the owners of this home I would switch rental companies because you guys dropped the ball. We have always used another rental agency on the island but we really liked this house so we decided to try your agency. We will continue to use our previous agency after this experience. They accepted my reservation, but a day later they called back and said the price I booked at was an error and demanded another $1,000 or they would cancel my reservation. After I refused to be held up for an extra $1,000, they unilaterally canceled my reservation. This company uses bait and switch listing tactics and you should avoid them at all costs. There are plenty of reputable leading companies in the Outer Banks. Why deal with dishonesty? read more

Stay was pleasant overall. Our friends and I have rented from you various times over the past 6 years. This home experience was the weakest. We had towels and chairs that were not there. Took a day to get this. We had an issue with cleanliness. The kitchen was dirty (dishes in dishwasher. Pots dirty in cabinets and the countertops were filthy). The grill was also very very dirty. As was the outdoor toilet. There was garbage left in one of the bedrooms that your staff said they were going to remove. Never happened. I did it myself. We could not use the volleyball set up because the grass was never cut. Honestly do not think we will use your agency again. I also received a Wyndham survey and when I hit the link to reply it said the time expired! It was a few days later. read more

We have been going to Corolla Light for the past 20 years. We recently stayed at Whispering Pines 9 and were very disappointed. Stove wasn't properly cleaned and caught on fire. 1980s refrigerator took 3 days to make ice and cool below 40 degrees and that was after the technician hard reset it. Hot tub never worked for the whole week. Property abuts route 12 and it is the only house that the trees either died or were cut down. The only positive of the house it came with a beach storage locker, which was needed as it is far from the beach. read more

We rented Oh So Grateful the first full week of June- Very convenient check in and out process. I appreciate the pet friendly home and the home owner's obvious love for their canine. Location of the house is good. Just a short walk to the beach ( or fast if you forget your flip flops on a sunny day) The house is very nice, but needs some basic repairs. Cleaning company didn't do a great job. Spots on the bedroom rugs looked like they had t been treated. The hardwood floors were still sandy and there was a lot of dog hair on the stairs and upper level of the house. After lifting the rug in the living area I questioned if this is where Sean Spicer has been sweeping up after Trump. The kitchen sink backed up on the day we arrived. I attempted to put lemon rinds, parsley and mint in the garbage disposal and although it smelled quite lovely it became a sink full of green yuck after running the dishwasher. Water was running out of the cabinet under the sink- I called CCV and Vicky told me Mike would be out to fix the issue. Two hours later I called again and the answering service again said someone would be there to fix it. The following day at 10am I called and let Vicky know how disappointed we were and how poorly this reflected upon CCV. Within 20 mins Mike came and said he would need to replace the garbage disposal once he could locate one. The gas grill burners were rusted out. CCV took two days to respond, but brought a new grill once the did. One of the glass covers on the pendulum lights hanging above the breakfast bar came crashing onto the granite and shattered, ruining food we had opened for lunch. I called to report and mentioned the other two being improperly placed and expressed my concern for a repeat with one of them. A day later maintenance came and agreed the covers should be removed and ultimately replaced. Poor response time to all issues. The kitchen is poorly equipped. A set of nesting Pyrex bowls and the Chicago cutlery were the only useful cooking tools. The Paula Dean cookware as well as the other damaged teflon should be disposed of. Several glasses were chipped and glass bowls were as well. Plastic dishes which were partially melted need to go out with the teflon. It was difficult to find storage containers. We loved the table and bench in the dining area. The deck furniture was in good shape for a rental unit. Beds were comfortable. Pool area was mostly shaded, but nice. Bumper pool table gets two thumbs up. We put the beer label puzzle together one morning while waiting for the rain to stop. Kudos for still having all the pieces to it. This is the perfect size place for a single family. The area works well for several families to stay in same neighborhood. While I would stay at this property again, I would hesitate to use CCV again, and I certainly would not want them to manage my property. read more

The new ownership has no customer loyalty. We have been using Corolla classic vacations for over 20 years and when we tried to make our reservation for the next year on the same week, we were told that someone else rented the house back in March. Every other rental place gives you first choice for the next year and Corolla classics used to, but apparently there is new ownership who does not value the long term customer. We were not even given an opportunity to reserve it back in March and were not informed. We are limited to the houses we can rent since we have to have an elevator for a family member who is unable to do stairs. So we were happy to have found one that we could rent for many years, unfortunately Corolla classics did not give us that opportunity. Also our house's oven broke. They gave us two toaster oven which is nice but not for feeding 13 people. Only two TV's in the house and the equipment went down and could not be fixed during our stay. You would think that if the property you rented did not have all the amenities working that the price would have been reduced or some other compensation, but no. We will never use Corolla classics again. There are other realtors in the area who were eager to take our business and who have ensured that we will get first dibs at the house and week that we rent. read more

We have used Corolla classic vacations for the past ten years and have always been happy with their service. This year we rented Flight of Fantasy and were extremely unhappy with the place. 13 burned out light bulbs, terrible mattresses in all of the bedrooms, filthy stove and lots dead bugs in all of the rooms. None of the showers drain and you actually stuck to the tile floor in the kitchen area. We spent a portion of our first day of vacation vacuuming up bugs, washing floors and scrubbing the filth off the stove top. The house is in a great location and had a nice pool and hot tub and the air conditioning works great. I don't blame Corolla Classics for the condition of the house but the photos on the web site are clearly from many years ago. read more

Have been traveling to OBX for 20 years and had the worst experience with a home I rented with them, "Down by the Sea" 408. The hone was poorly maintained and I dealt with maintenance people every single day; starting with a broken pool filter, broken hot tub, broken AC, terrible internet, broken faucet, missing chairs, terrible living room sectional, sand in beds, and cobwebs and bugs in and around the house. ....CC was very responsive when I was down there, but now that I have been home for 10 days, no one is returning my calls concerning these matters and possibly compensation. I left messages for the managers Michelle and Lori, but they do not call back. It's frustrating, and I will not be using CC in the future and will not recommend them to anyone. read more

Use someone else! We rented a house through them (Station One PI400) and had nothing but problems. Problems happen, but not in this quantity and not with their attitude of tough we're not going to fix it, and not without any effort to compensate for our troubles. Multiple problem with A/C, broken internet, broken pools... their attitude is tough we might send a repairman, but they won't fix it they will just note it, you just have to live with it... They scheduled other repairmen to fix other stuff in the house while we were there and never told us. Random people walking through a house we paid many many thousands to rent and have a good vacation. Waking napping kids and interrupting our vacation. Rooms we could not use because of a/c, a big media room / home theater but what we won't tell you is the bulb on the projector won't work.... so that is just a waste. Oh we can't fix the internet because we don't have the password... we can't fix your a/c because we don't deal with that brand... we can't reach the home owner because the number we have is wrong... we can't make the media center work because we don't keep extra bulbs... your the first people using the hot tub so we did not know it does not work... the only thing they are good at is excuses. Hours and hours of our vacation wasted on them... they say there is nothing they can do it is the home owners issue. Your the management company! Mange! 8th year renting in the OBX so we are not new at this, but these guys clearly are and hopefully won't be around to ruin others vacations. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. They breached a contract with me off of Airbnb. Totally canceled my reservation for the price agreed upon upon in the contract. Don't deal with these people they are crooks. They should have honored the contract on the property involved. I will be seeking legal counsel. Very disappointing to lose the property my family was looking so forward to using on our vacation. The person I dealt with was very rude. And obviously did not understand I had a contract on the property. They should have made the situation right if they had any type of customer satisfaction. This past week we stayed at Ray and TD's, one of their properties. We had a very dangerous experience. The wood floors there were so slippery 4 of our guests fell. Two of them likely have a fracture and are seeking medical treatment. Three of the falls occurred in the first 24 hours. The office was informed on Tuesday morning. We were told that someone would contact us and come out and measure the vulnerable areas for runners to minimize any further falls. No such contact was made the entire week. Two others fell - one a second time. Both fractures occurred after the office was notified. Based on the treatment (or lack thereof), I would not recommend staying at any of their properties. Not a good way to take care of guests. Not good at all. read more

Our extended family of 20 stayed In Parrots in Paradise the week of 8/4/18-8/11/18. After reading reviews I was a little apprehensive about this property. I was pleasantly surprised. We paid for a early check-in and at 1:00 our house was ready. It was clean and everything was in order. The house is a little worn, but I think you have to expect that between the age of the property and weather conditions on the OuterBanks. We had 2 small issues and both were responded to very quickly. We have already booked this property for next year! read more

A group of us just returned from renting a vacation home (Beachwood CV II) in Corolla NC from Carolina Classic Vacations (CCV). Overall, the vacation was great, but we had a problem with CCV being unresponsive to address a problem with the pool. One of the main reasons we had picked the house was to enjoy the beautiful private pool pictured in the photos for the property. We arrived about 12 to 15 hours after Tropical Storm Hermine had passed through the area, and the pool was filled with broken tree branches and sand. We called the company on Saturday to point out the issue. We understand that it takes a little time to clean up after a storm and waited a couple of days for the cleanup to happen. Two days later, however, the pool was still not cleaned up, and we had had to remove the tree branches from the pool ourselves. We called again on Monday and were told that the pool would be cleaned up by the end of the day. Monday came and went, and still no cleanup. We called CCV again on Tuesday, and this time were told that they would check with the pool company and call us back to give us an update. Near the end of Tuesday, still no call back, so we called again to check. The company said that they had left two messages for the pool company but gotten no response, and they did not follow up to let us know that. At this time, we asked for a partial refund of our rental price paid and were told that a supervisor would contact us - this never happened. We also were assured that the pool would definitely get cleaned up on Wednesday because that was a regularly scheduled pool cleaning day. All day Wednesday came and went - still no pool clean up. We called again on Wednesday to request a pool clean up and a partial refund. Finally, on Thursday AFTERNOON - only 1.5 days before our departure - the pool got cleaned up. Even factoring in the storm, CCV's service was far too slow and deprived us of a clean pool for virtually our entire time at the house. We never did hear back from a supervisor regarding the pool. In addition to the pool issue, the outside of the home was not as nice in person as what was pictured on the website. Many of us who first drove up to the home noticed this and made the same comment. It needs paint and some TLC. We also pointed this out to CCV and were told that a new owner had redone the inside recently but did not have time this season to attend to the outside. This is understandable, but CCV's advertised photos should look more like what the house looks like in person. (Note also that the road to get to this house is not paved and had huge potholes.) Also, the inside of the house had stained carpets and ceilings (numerous brown spots on the ceiling), and the bottom level with the game room smelled so bad that none of us used it for the entire week. One person thought it smelled like pesticide but was told by CCV that it actually was wet cedar. Other than these issues, the top two levels of the house were quite beautiful and nice to hang out in for the week. The lay out and number of bathrooms as well as the deck space overlooking the ocean, which you could see and hear from this house, was outstanding. The bedrooms were really nice and, for the most part, had terrific mattresses. The house also came with some games and beach chairs, which was nice. CCV gets 2 stars instead of 1 because they did provide us two extra sets of sheets for an unexpected bonus sleeper sofa and a couch (we did have to drive to the agency to pick them up, but this was not a big deal). Also, the people at the front desk were nice to speak to when we were at the agency in person. They just need to work on their customer service in addressing problems quickly once they've collected the rental money and people are in the house for the week. read more

Not user friendly. It's been 5 years but I learned my lesson and won't use them again. When we arrived we could witness harried 20 year olds behind the desk scrambling to move other people checking in through. By the time it was my turn, I tried to be as pleasant as I could but I was just another body infront of her and she couldn't care less. The houses had been mediocre, but that's more a reflection on the owner and their lack of care but when something broke- it took a while to get someone out to fix it. We had a stopped up sink and it took 2 days for a plumber to come clear it. Houses have issues but the response from CCV made it tough to "deal" with it. Still go to Corolla each summer, didn't go back to CCV, never will. read more

We stayed 7 days at Another Sea Este OH1 October 2020. We were told check in would be 4-6pm since extra cleaning due to covid19 but received notification a little around 3 that the house was ready. It looked like bare minimum cleaning was done. Water bottles and chip bags under several beds, milder in some of the showers, no dust pan, so we bought one. The hot tub by beach was not working and pool was not heated. I called about both, the lady I spoke tried to convince me it was working by saying the jets aren't powerful. I have a hot tub, I know when a jet is on, not to mention it was ice cold. Same w/the pool. Someone finally came out on day 4 and fixed the hot tub. Day 5 the pool got fixed. So we paid $595 for a pool to be heated for a day and a half, only the kids could tolerate with their shivering little chins. I left a message about being refunded, no call back of course. The positives are: plenty of space for whole family, nice to have bathroom for each bedroom, easy access to the beach, beautiful view for sunrises. They just need to clean home better and not blow off the guests when they call about issues and send someone out right away. They should at least prorate a refund for the heated pool. read more

From the pool and hottub not working, to the broken AC, terrible internet, furniture problems, broken faucet, missing chairs, bugs and cobwebs in and around the home....I can go on......was truly frustrating. Now that I am home, the managers from CC will not return my phone calls regarding some type of compensation for the major issues my family and I had to endure on our vacation. Here is a letter we wrote to Nancy Beasley (Manager). We were not compensated for our troubles and our calls are not returned. I would not recommend this company or specific property (Key Largo) to anyone wishing for a peaceful vacation: Hello Nancy, We'd like you to understand that you have had over a week to work out a solution to this issue. Not only have you failed to resolve our issue, but you have not been prompt in returning our calls. While we understand your desire to contact the owner of this property, we also believe that Corolla Classic Vacations is at least partly responsible for the issues we faced on our "vacation." We have placed the credit card charges in dispute with the credit card company and will only consider removing this dispute when an acceptable financial solution has been proposed. Below is a list of issues that we had with the house and/or Corolla Classic Vacations: 1. The house was generally unclean when we arrived. Examples include: dishes in the cabinet with food on them, dirty floors, outside of fridge and other appliances dirty, dead bugs covering windowsills, food crusted onto couches in main living area, etc. The second cleaning crew arrived and reiterated our feeling that the house was disgusting (their words). 2. There was a major insect issue both inside and outside of the home, as well as multiple snakes found on the second and ground floors. There were bugs all over the ceiling in the master bedroom and great room. Additionally, we had major bug issues in the kitchen, master bath, and baths on the 2nd floor. The outside of the house including the front porch and decks were infested with bugs and badly needed power washing. Please understand that this bug issue made the house completely unlivable. These conditions were totally unacceptable. Please also note that we spoke with other renters in nearby properties and they had NO BUGS in their homes, indicating that this was an issue that could have been resolved prior to our arrival had proper action been taken. One of CCVs employees made the excuse that the property had previously been rented by a family with many children who left the doors open all week. This is simply not an acceptable excuse. If the home was unlivable due to previous occupants, we should have been offered an alternative property. 3. The house was generally in a state of disrepair. Imagine our surprise, after reading the description of the home stating that it contained elegant furnishings, to discover it was old, worn, stained and had holes in it. Additionally, the fridge, both dishwashers, a toilet, and the hot water were not working in the house. We spent a week on "vacation" unable to take a hot shower or give our child a hot bath. Overall, the house has simply not been cared for properly. Even small things like the fact that the grill was filthy and the tv remotes had no batteries indicate to me that there is no respect for renters hard earned money and precious vacation time with their families. We expected luxury accommodations and were deeply disappointed. Please understand how utterly disappointing it is to spend a hard-earned week away speaking with cleaning crews, maintenance people, pest control, plumbers, etc., and running back and forth to the store for bug spray and cleaning supplies so that we can help do others' jobs. And in some cases (e.g., the hot water issue) the problems were not resolved during our stay. While CCV did send people out to help resolve some of these issues this was simply too little too late. We ended up spending half our vacation dealing with YOUR problems, problems we never even should have been aware of. Beyond disputing credit card charges, we will most certainly be alerting other consumers to the issues we faced via Facebook, vacation sites and blogs, etc. and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau if this is not resolved post haste. While we have not currently mentioned the name of the property on Facebook, we will do so. Please feel free to share this message (in its entirety) with the owners of this property. We appreciate you getting back to us regarding a specific timeline in which we can expect resolution to this issue. Vague claims that the owner is on a business trip will simply not suffice. read more
