I usually think the smaller, hole-in-the-wall places have the best food, but this place proved me wrong. The staff at The Shed were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. Portions were generous, and everything tasted amazing. The brisket, in particular, stood out--it was moist, tender, and easily one of the best I've ever had. I even spoke with the manager to share how impressed I was, and he went above and beyond by taking me back to see the smokers. That really showed their pride in what they do. I can't say enough great things about The Shed Market--I just can't wait for my next trip back to Texas. Hope to add photos soon

The best barbecue in Abilene is definitely a battle between The Shed and Jay's. Both are great, and…read moreboth are expensive, but all bbq is. The Shed opened a new location several years ago, and this is my first visit since they moved. The new building is GREAT! Love the look and layout. We got there at 11:15 and the line was almost to the front door. I ordered fatty brisket, jalapeño cream corn, and Mac and cheese. The brisket was just ok, not very fatty and not very juicy. But the bbq sauce definitely helped. On the other hand, both sides were GREAT! The jalapeño cream corn was fantastic, and the mac & cheese was very, very good. I'll come back again and get a rib plate, just so I can get some more sides! Is it barbecue time at your house? Let's go!

Absolutely some of the best BBQ I've had in ages - and I'm a bbq snob from Kansas City!…read more We had the sampler (brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and one each of the mild and spicy sausages). I fully expected that one or two of the meats would be good and the rest just passable. I was wrong. Every single bite was spectacular. We also had the brisket and queso chips and pig candy - both were really tasty; the chips especially were very fresh and sprinkled with just a touch of bbq rub. We arrived a few minutes before they opened on a warm Saturday and the wait was about 75 minutes or so. Definitely worth standing in line for. There's ample outdoor (but covered) seating and plenty of good music playing, plus cornhole games if you're feeling competitive. Jays will be our go-to for BBQ the next time we're in Abilene! PS - if it's still available when you go, be sure to try the cherry chipotle sauce - it's amazing!

They do have restrooms so that's nice. The line gets long and they are slow in taking orders and getting the food out. We arrived around 11:15 on a Friday and the line was already long so we decided we would order to go as we need to get to Lubbock before 3:00pm. We ordered the Texas Trinity to go. This place has charm and lots of stuff to look at while waiting in the long slow line. You can go up and order beer to drink in line but my thought is that the beer is over price. Some places have free beer or free water while you wait outside in the Texas heat, not here. So the food we got made it all the way back to eat in Houston on Sunday when we got back. The true test of good BBQ is how it taste when you reheat it, all the food was good but the brisket was a bit dry 8/10, the sausage was nice 9/10 and the pork rib was good 9/10. I recommend you try Jays BBQ when in the city of Abilene, Texas
