The dental hygienist have given me exceptional cleaning and are always adamant in answering any questions or concerns, with great detail, that I have for keeping my mouth clean. Dr. Walding always has a friendly smile and breaks down what has been found with each visit. They are always open to the many questions that I have along with making recommendations on mouth cleaning products for each persons' need.

She is very knowledgeable, very efficient, gentle, and does a fantastic job. Plus she lets you hold the suction thing when she needs 2 hands...FUN!!!! Dr. Palmer himself is an AWESOME dentist. My previous dentist tried about 5 crowns on me to fix a tooth. So it was the usual, grind, cap with a temp, send home, send off for the crown, wait 3 weeks, come back, get crown installed, break crown, then wash-rinse-repeat. Dr. Palmer takes a 3D image of your tooth and then fashions the crown ON SITE. Yup. No waiting. No coming back. He has this cool machine that 3D mills your crown THERE. I think I am 5 years in and still no problems with the crown. On top of that he is super nice and friendly. He really takes time to explain everything and is very personable. Living close to this establishment and not going here would be like going to the Louvre and not seeing the Mona Lisa. It just makes no sense. So. Awesome staff? Check. Good location? Check. The hygienist was very thorough in taking x-rays, and taking pics of teeth, which I have never had pics taken before. The hygienist and doctor thoroughly explained the treatment plan. My only concern was that I was refused a general routine cleaning -- I felt so shortchanged with this visit. I felt that this dental visit was incomplete for me. I had gloved hands, instruments, and cotton in my mouth, and didn't even get a rinse after exam! I was told that I needed a deep clean (which cost hundreds of dollars), which I understand is the doctor's recommendation, but I would think that the patient could have a choice. From what I can remember most of my teeth did not need a deep clean as much as a few; but I still could not get routine clean. It would have been nice to have clean mouth until I could afford to get deep cleaning; but now I have to look for a dental group that can give me a cleaning without an exam. I guess this is a Houston thing--refusing general cleaning. This is the second dental group in Houston that did this (the first dental group the dentist said teeth were fine, but it was the hygienist who was pushing deep clean for $700+). The first time this happened, I had to fly out of town to go to my previous dentist that I regularly frequented in the past. Got a thoroughly cleaning which included scaling, polishing and flossing. I also received toothbrush to take home, which I did not receive from the Palmer dental office until I had to ask for one. Again, I feel so shortchanged.

Sadly, I cannot give a one star review…read more At an annual cleaning appointment Dr. Davis suggested replacing my crown for cosmetic reasons and I unknowingly left for college in August 2025 with a crown that was not properly fitted. I was left alone at college with severe teeth pain, ear aches, nerve pain, and I could only chew on one side of my mouth because of the intense pain I felt day and night. I frequently visited emergency rooms and dentists in Austin with additional incurred costs, not knowing my pain came from my tooth being severely inflamed and infected due to deep decay, damage, and trauma because of my ill-fitted crown. I returned to Houston and alerted Dr. Davis and staff of my severe pain, where I immediately came to tears because of my immense pain, and he came to the solution to shave down my crown. He said that shaving my crown would help, but that I might need a root canal if the pain continued. I was not given an X-ray, which would have shown how infected and damaged the root of my tooth was. At this appointment the urgency and need of getting a root canal was severely brushed over. After visiting a new dental practice, I was told that I needed immediate care (root canal and crown replacement) because of my ill-fitted crown that could have left me with permanent damage, and even the loss of my tooth. As a young female college student, I have endured immense stress, pain, and emotions due to the lack of attention and care from Cosmetic Dentist Associates. I have lived a very difficult six months where my tooth and nerve pain were a constant stressor, when it could have been completely avoidable if I had received proper care from this dental practice in the first place. I am happy to say that I have received attentive care from a dentist in Austin and finally, six months later I am able to chew on both sides of my mouth, and not live in fear that my porcelain crown would break inside of my mouth with a dead tooth. I advise every one who comes to Cosmetic Dental Associates to advocate for themselves, as I have spent half a year of my youth in serious pain, when it could have been completely avoided or caught earlier if I was listened to.

Initially the office was for Dr. Patrick J McClellan, DDS, but he has since retired and his role assumed by Dr. Chris Johnson. The office is clean and cozy and there is never a long wait in the waiting room. The office staff and hygienists are always very friendly. They make an effort for you to be followed by the same hygienist each visit so you get to know the staff. I had a terrible experience with another dental office (a chain) which tried to force me to get an anesthetized deep clean because it had been 2 years since my last cleaning. When I declined they refused my care. I went to Dr. McClellan and he explained that it was neither indicated, nor did the other provider do the proper eval to determine if it was actually needed (he said it was not). A friend in dentistry acknowledged that up selling is unfortunately not uncommon in the big chains. Dr McClellans honestly really made me feel well cared for, and he assured me when he left that Dr. Johnson shared the same values in his care. So far this has been true and I would highly recommend this practice to anyone. Just FYI, downtown parking can be annoying. It's the perfect office if you work downtown or can take the metro rail, but because I drive I always aim for the early morning appointment to make parking easier. They open at 7am - another bonus!

I really like that he used state of the art technology to clean teeth and prevent problems. During this last visit he was able to find a tooth that had the starting of a cavity so before it became bad he was able to treat this and prevent any further damage. In the old days or doctors not using the same technology will instead have to wait until the cavity is visible and that's where you start to feel pain as they repair. I can't say enough good things about Dr. hedge and his staff im really happy to have him taking care of me.
