I was really apprehensive about getting electrolysis but only because I have a low threshold for pain & I'm a bit of a wimp. But I had heard great things about Winchester Electrology & Laser and I was finally committed to the idea of getting rid of my unwanted eyebrow hair forever. (And because you can't use laser that close to your eyes...electrolysis seemed like the only logical alternative. I was so ready to retire from my lifetime of plucking & preening!) Paula is wonderful - not only is she knowledgeable but she's kind, patient & always fun to talk to. On my first visit, she took the time to explain the whole process to me & what kind of timeline we were probably looking at. She could sense I was a little nervous when I asked her how much it would hurt. So she sweetly offered to do a quick trial session just so I could see if I thought it was something I could handle. (I could!) It's definitely a commitment but one that is so worthwhile. To be freed from my tweezers has been blissful. Now I have beautifully shaped eyebrows that I never have to worry about. Laurel is so sweet! I originally came in for electrolysis for my sideburns, but she took a look and recommended laser, and im SO glad I did it instead. It was quick, i was in and out in 15 minutes. Usually my sideburns grow back in 3 days after waxing, but it's been 2 weeks since my first laser session and NOTHING has grown back yet. Super effective! read more

I have been receiving services at Winchester Electrology for nearly three months now. Things were fine up until today when I had to call to reschedule my appointment. I had called twice two days prior to reschedule however, something was wrong with their phone and they were unable to hear me. I also attempted to reschedule using the confirmation email that I received when my appointment was booked, but received the message that the appt was not booked using the website (I booked in person) so I was unable to manage the booking. The owner, Paula had a terrible attitude, was laughing and scoffing while I was speaking with her. She was saying to me, "you need to do this and you need to do that" and said "no one else has had an issue" when I told her that her phone was continuing to cut in/out. I have also been flexible when they have had to reschedule my appt, when they wanted me to see someone else other than my regular electrologist, or when they're running behind. For me, as a paying customer I will not tolerate the way that Paula was speaking to me this morning. I will go elsewhere. read more

I have been having treatments with Paula for well over a year now and she is excellent. I started out with a laser hair removal package for my lower legs, bikini line, and underarms. I was a little nervous going in at first, but Paula is very comforting and knowledgeable which helped a lot. I chose this laser place over one of the various chains in the area because I wanted my treatment to be more personalized. At a chain, you will likely see different professionals every time, and with so many treatments coming in and out, I just didn't trust them to do a good enough job. I have been battling facial hair for many many years and I finally decided that I had to put the tweezers aside and get serious. From my extensive research, I was pretty sure that I would need both laser and electrolysis, because although laser may be fast, it is clear that certain hairs that are blond/gray or dark hairs that have blond/gray roots, cannot be removed with laser. So in putting together the arsenal for the war on my facial hair, I knew that I needed the aerial bombing widespread mass destruction effect that laser would provide, but also the focused sniper-like hits that only electrolysis can provide. However, most hair removal centers either do one or the other, not both, and so the people that run those places will tell you as they told me, "Oh, electrolysis is the best, you don't need laser" or conversely, "Oh, laser is the best, you don't need electrolysis" - all without ever even seeing my particular hair pattern! I knew that these places were just trying to sell what they had to sell, without thought to actual outcome. This was troubling to me to say the least. So then, happily, one magical day, I discovered online, Winchester Electrology & Laser - thanks to the reviews on YELP and the informative and comprehensive website, I emailed Paula and got an appointment for the next week. I never told Paula that I thought I needed both hair removal processes. On our first appointment, she carefully examined my hair and she confirmed my self-internet-diagnosis, that I had both types of hair, dark hair that would respond to laser but also the blond/gray hair that could only be eradicated by electrolysis. I think that many women have similar hair growth scenarios to me, and should beware of laser-only or electrolysis-only centers. I have been working with Paula for a while now, and I am thrilled. I have been going to Paula for eyebrow electrology for about a year now. When I first met her, my eyebrows were a mess, but now, Paula has made them look perfect. Paula is very talented and I can't believe how awesome my eyebrows look now. I'm a 42 year old male and have been frustrated with back and neck hair for years. The hair on the back of my neck grows fast and has been difficult to trim by myself and do a good job. It's inconvenient/expensive to have it cleaned up regularly by a barber as well. Even just from the process of trimming it, and especially if I would wear shirts with a collar, some hairs would get ingrown. It would get painful and ugly, I'd inevitably try to dig the hair out, and then it would bleed with the collar further irritating it. I also had patchy, thick black hairs on my back and shoulders. I hated how these grew randomly and how they looked against my lighter skin. I read about laser hair removal and then was told by a colleague that I should go to Winchester Electrology if I wanted to try it. I immediately liked Paula and her staff. Everyone was friendly and professional. Her space is quaint and clean, and her chairs and equipment are excellent. She is very thorough, highly experienced and makes the process easy and comfortable. We started on the back of my neck and after the first treatment, the hair was reduced so drastically it was amazing. It really worked well for me from the very first treatment. We continued to treat the back of my neck and moved to the front as well, then the shoulders and the back. The back of my neck is clean now, as I wish it had been all of my life. I don't get ingrown hairs there at all anymore and don't feel self conscious in line anymore if people are right behind me that they see the wolf man effect or nasty ingrown bumps with white heads or dried blood. It is just smooth and normal and I look healthier and better. My back is responding just as well. We still have a few treatments to go but I am feeling great heading into summer to take off my shirt and have a smooth and hairless back! I had to Yelp out my story to those considering laser. Each of the electrolygists here are incredible. They are approachable, kind, gentle, honest, and professional. Even though Paula and her team are often busy, they squeezed me in weekly for electrolysis appointments when the person I had been seeing stopped working. They sensed I was desperate, as a previous laser treatment (in my hometown of New York, not here!) left me with stimulated hair growth on my face. They put me at ease and the results have been incredible - my face is much smoother. I feel so much more confident after seeing Paula and Laurel. The treatment hurt less here than at any other electrolygist, and the prices are very good. They also will be honest with you about how long to book treatments for - I went down from 45 min to 30 after seeing improved results. I spent many years shaving, plucking, tweezing and mostly embarrassed. I would shave every single day and would have 5 o'clock shadow.
