Horrible horrible food…read more I mean, I really don't want to write a bad review unless it's *really* bad and I think this place falls under that category. The ambience is pretty dingy but I didn't want to "judge a book by its cover" and went on to try out their buffet. They do multi-cuisine and barring the Indian section, most of them were quite bad and extremely oily. The poppadums were fried in reused oil which smells really unappetizing. IMO, you get a much better meal for 7 euros in the same locality (think Boojum).

That means that your tray ends up littered with bones by the end of the meal but when in Rome.... If you like your curries all fancy and well presented this wouldn't be for you - it is an all you can eat, self-service diner after all - but personally I think the taste of all the curried chicken and chickpea and lentil dishes is awesome and this alone makes it worthwhile for me. It is clean? Clean enough. Is it quiet? Not really. Is it super friendly? Well, the staff seem to be one big family and seem to have a lot of friends who come in... It's cheap, you can eat the equivalent of two meals if you're that way inclined and most of the clientele seem to be from Middle eastern countries, which to me is a plus when choosing where to eat my curries. I don't tend to eat the European or Chinese meals, I'd say they're a bit average. During the daytime I'd usually go down into the other buffets beside LIDL on the same street but Buffet 79 stays open later... Whether you'll enjoy it I think will depend on what your priorities are. Me? I love it.

Located on Parnell Street, Dublin's unofficial "Chinatown," Lao Chinese and Korean sits among a…read moredense concentration of East Asian restaurants, supermarkets, and cafés just north of O'Connell Street. The exterior is relatively understated, with large windows looking into the dining room rather than elaborate street-facing décor. Inside, the restaurant is noticeably larger than many neighboring establishments, with multiple dining areas and table setups designed to accommodate both standard meals and tabletop barbecue. The atmosphere feels practical and comfortable rather than trendy, allowing the focus to remain squarely on the food. There's also a large make-your-own sauce bar at the front, and a buffet station at the back full of fish, noodles, and vegetable options to complete any hotpot order, along with Chinese snacks and even some desserts! Our group of nine made a reservation in advance, though on a Thursday night, the restaurant was about only half-full, and probably could have accommodated most walk-in parties. The menu is extensive, ranging from Westernized Chinese favorites like Fried Rice and Kung Pao Chicken to Korean BBQ to individual-sized hot pot dishes, which are convenient in that they allow everyone at the table to customize their hotpot to their liking (along with their own little heated section of the table) - particularly with the soup broth flavor and various toppings that they choose. For meats (options of beef, lamb, pork, and chicken), you order with the server, and for everything else, you may go up to the buffet as many times as you'd like. As with most hotpot buffet places, there is the risk of cross-contamination with the communal tongs that they use, so people with dietary restrictions, beware! Other than that, the buffet selections were extensive and quite fresh. I ordered the Extra Hot & Spicy Hotpot (€33 for AYCE hotpot), and the broth was rich, comforting, and "Ireland-spicy" (which is to say, not very spicy at all). I ordered one plate each of their beef and lamb, both of which tasted fresh, but quite fatty. Each plate of meat comes with a generous portion, and two portions was quite enough for me. Prices are moderate by Dublin standards; most entrées fall within the typical city-center range, while barbecue and group-style meals can push the per-person cost somewhat higher. Expect roughly €20-40 per person depending on how extensively you order - from hotpot to KBBQ to classic Chinese takeout fare, there's truly something for everyone, and this is a great place to go if you have a large party with diverse food interests/preferences.

They serve up nice selections for hot pot and the condiments are adorned! I used it for my noodles even though I didn't do hot pot! I like the lamb skewers with the fennels. Spicy and it helped with the satisfaction of lamb.

The hot breakfast is a la Carte with different meats to go along with the scrambled eggs in water. I chose the less expensive route on the morning I ate here. For 4€, I chose the generous portion of scrambled eggs with two pieces of toast. Butter and jelly packets were free to accompany it. The tray to carry the food was also free. Porridge, granola, fruit, cereal, biscuits and breads, bars, chips, coffee, bottled drinks, and other items could be bought separately. The check out process was easy. All of the employees were very helpful. Plenty of seating awaits. When you're finished, be sure to return your tray to the cart.

The food is standard to anonymous campus fare:full plates and bland tastes... but students come anyway. The setting is bright and efficient -bold colours and cafeteria-cold furnishings (except for that second dining room under arched columns... woah), and the loud clanks coming from the open kitchen make conversation difficult to keep up. There's plenty of places off campus for visitors to grab a bite before heading onto campus, but if you're bound and determined to dine in TCD-stop at O'Brien's on your way over for a few sandwiches to go and find yourself a nice on-campus bench. Cheaper, quieter and better ambience.
