I got these tips with dip 4 weeks ago today!! I have never had tips last this long. Not a single nail has chipped, broken, or popped off! I bite my nails and have nubs, so the tips barely even had anything to glue to. Amazing job by Cosmos!!! read more

Out of all the nail salons on 18th street, and maybe all of DC, this is my new favorite nail salon! The first two times I came as a walk in to get a gel mani. I had no qualms and was very happy with how my nails looked and no chipping issues - very long lasting. The last two times I saw Kim and got liquid gel. She likes doing designs and so I just let her do her thing. It takes about an hour to prep and put on extensions and another half hour for the polish and design, so make sure you account for the time! Love coming here and I will be back. read more

I was referred here. I called and asked to make an appointment with Yo-yo and the person who answered said they would get in touch with her to see if she was available at 5. They called me back and confirmed that my appointment with Yo-yo was set for 5. I get there, pay for parking and enter the salon to see that Yo-yo, at 4:50 is placing tips on someone's nails, and there is another client waiting for her. Yo-yo insists that I grab a color, so I ask if 5 o'clock would still be good. She then says "no, I have a 5 o'clock but pick a color" -- now why on earth would I sit there for over an hour? The entire reason I mad an appointment was to not have to wait. My first impression is I won't be back and nail salons in DC should really get it together. read more

Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill after the pandemic. Sad to have to update my review in this way because this was my favorite nail salon. It used to have consistently good service and reasonable prices. But this was my last visit. J gave this place a couple of chances post-pandemic. I booked an appointment with my sister and requested manicures for both of us. When we showed up the same technician handled both of us, one after the other. What should have been 45 minutes, turned into 1.5 hours. My recent appointment was disappointing because I didn't feel like it was a clean environment. It was also so-so: not the cleanest towels, or the most sterile equipment. It was fine. But now, that just doesn't cut it. I couldn't relax. I also didn't like the quality of service. The end product is so-so. And the prices are jacked up. No longer worth the trip across town like I used to make to come here. I'm not happy with the final product. Disappointed but it's definitely time to say goodbye and move on to a cleaner establishment that's actually worth the price it's charging! read more

My friend and I went to get mani/pedis in November and made appointments in advance. When we arrived, we were both seated at pedi chairs immediately and they got us started with scents in the foot bath, but then my nail tech didn't appear. My friend's did and she was 30 minutes in when mine arrived. There was a miscommunication and the nail tech started buffing my toenails for a dip (I said I wanted them for mani only), but was able to stop it before he got too far. Because he was trying to catch up with my friend, mine felt rushed and like I didn't get the full luxe treatment that my friend did. For the mani, I opted to get dips, which was a first for me. I can't speak to if the process here was different than other salons, but at the end I was a bit surprised at the results. Some of the fingers were lopsided which made things like typing or texting more difficult. They lasted a month before starting to chip, but the bottoms of them all started to come undone after about two weeks, which would regularly catch my hair or clothes. Once I had them removed (at another salon), my nails were trash. Maybe that's how dips always are, but I was not impressed. I will skip Cosmo next time. read more

This review has nothing to do with my nails. They came out fine. I had the manager I believe and every single time someone would walk in the door she would leave me. It took her 2 hours to finish my SNS because of this. I couldn't believe how unprofessional she was. And she didn't even notice how pissed I was growing. I won't come back her if I have her again. read more

Yesterday, on 08/22/2024, I called ahead before going, as I had seen a lot of disappointing customer reviews. I asked for a manicure and pedicure combo, specifying that the manicure had to be gel with French tips. I was told it would be $75.00. I went to withdraw $100.00 cash, thinking I would even get change back after paying + tip. When I got there, they did as I asked, but I wasn't informed that the callus removal was extra. This was my first pedicure, so I thought it was included. When it was time to pay, the bill came to $95.00. Confused, I handed over the $100.00 and walked out, saying I would call the next day to confirm the price I was quoted over the phone. The next day, I called and asked the same question about the price, and not only was I right, but they also told me it was $88.00. I was blown away. I explained that I came the previous day, was told $75.00, paid $95.00, and now I'm being told it's $88.00, with the callus removal being extra. All she said was that she was sorry. Apologizing isn't going to fix the damage caused by upcharging people and not communicating with their customers. I'm left wondering if they're just guessing prices. And they didn't do anything to fix it. I do not recommend this place. If you do risk going there, make sure to ask for all prices upfront. read more

I do not know how this salon has averaged four stars. I just moved to the area and had tried a few salons, and this is the worst of them all. The people were very nice and I really wanted to like them but this is just unacceptable, especially for the price. Not featured in the photos is a cracked nail on the left hand (it doesn't photograph well). I've never felt more ripped off in my life. For $100 with tip, I have a literal crap manicure where I regret even getting them done and a smudged pedicure. I'm trying to go back to get them fixed, stay tuned if they charge me ... I have been a loyal customer of Cosmo Nail Bar for nearly two years and these past two years I have had the most polished appearance I have ever had. This place is truly a gem and you must treat yo self to the experience. Located on the main strip of Adams Morgan, Cosmo is anything but off the beaten path. The salon is one of those bigger on the inside kind of places that has a large back room to accommodate extra foot traffic (pun intended as the back room is for pedicures). There is also a large area for manicures. The place operates like a high efficiency beehive and I have never had to wait for more than 5-10 minutes for a WALK IN! Amazing, right?! Now I always stick with the classic pedicure, and I will sometimes add on a classic manicure if the moonlight strikes me. I'm fancy, but not that fancy. The classic pedicure only costs $28. That's it. A BARGAIN. During the week they have happy hour specials and it's even cheaper! Now I was first wary of such a low priced pedicure, but I have NEVER been disappointed. They do a fantastic job every time. They don't cut corners, just nails. They also go above and beyond to scrub your lower legs with a sugar scrub, lotion them with a nice green tea lotion, and then massage them with hot stones. It's almost unbelievable that you get all that for the most basic pedicure they offer. You can pick any polish color off their wall or bring in your own as well. Manicures are a pretty similar experience, and if you add one on, it will cost about $50 total. Woah. Attention‼ They offer you complimentary wine while you're enjoying your salon experience. They have red, white, and house made sangria to choose from. If I recall correctly, they have had champagne in the past on occasion. Overall, I highly highly recommend Cosmo Nail Bar. First time getting SNS and absolutely loved it. My friend had unfortunately a worst experience than me because her stylist kept getting up and getting distracted, which I'll let her tell you her story, but since we had come together, I found myself having to wait SO Much longer for her to get done since they had taken forever with her nails and we were getting the exact same thing. They did charge us $5 for the cuticles which was a ridiculous increase in price when a few months ago that wasn't the case. I can't say if it was just us or a real change, but that was annoying. I don't think we'll be back unfortunately, especially since our favorite stylist has left. On to the next one. read more

Every time I'm at Cosmo's, I receive exceptional service. The ladies are very friendly and attentive. The manager, Yoyo usually takes care of me, and she knows exactly how I like my nails. I would suggest making a reservation since business fluctuates, and you may not always get the nail tech you want, otherwise. Make sure you are open to the ladies switching on and off as there are ladies who specialize in different areas! Definitely check out their new location at 1911 9th Street NW, as well!! read more

I hate writing negative reviews for nail salons, especially when they spend so much time and energy on you. However, I am really disappointed with my SNS nails. Really sloppy shaping and cleaning of the cuticles. It's hard to even look at them knowing I spent $55 for something I want taken off immediately. Cosmo Nail Bar will not be getting anymore of my coins. I am not sure what kind of acrylic they used on my nails, but three nails have broken in a span of two weeks. I've been going to Cosmo for a couple of months now, with absolutely no complaints. They usually do nails really well and are reasonably priced. Last time I went in Cosmo, a newer nail tech (newer because I've never seen her), did my nails. I asked for a new set (brand new acrylic nails), usually I pay about $50ishh... this woman charged me $65. I didn't complain because I know pricing at nail salons can be all over the place. Anyways, fast forward three nails have broken! How can three acrylic nails from a new set, break?!?!??! It's absolutely ridiculous! When the first nail broke, I called the salon and asked if they could repair. They told me to wait three days due to bleeding; which makes sense. Two days later, another nail broke! Then one day later, another nail broke! A total of three nails. Also, during my last visit, I asked for a glass of champagne. The women doing my nails told me "we don't serve champagne during the week". Shortly after, I hear another technician offer another young woman wine. So I am not sure what their policy is. I know I have a baby face, maybe she thought I was underage? She could've just asked for my ID.... Nonetheless, I will not be going back to Cosmo Nail Bar. They over charged and all my nails are broken. read more

I've been there a few times, the service has always been ok. However, one of the ladies overcharged me on my nail set. When I asked her how come it was $70 ? I received a soak off($10) and a full set with regular polish($60) apparently. She caught an attitude because I asked for a breakdown. She insisted I had long nails and the shape was all extra. Although I made it clear when we started that I wanted it short and squared shape. Then she went on to tell me that the full set started at $55. NOT right at all! read more

I decided to visit cosmo after all my friends at work rave about them and all their SNS colors. I've tried SNS once before and wasn't too impressed so I figured I would give it another chance. The salon is in Adams Morgan on a corner. I can see where parking can be a hassle and you have to pay the meter. The salon was a good size but not the usually open spaced ones. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was placed in a pedicure chair. I decided to do the "Vegan Pedicure" which consisted of different types of scrubs for your legs of your chosen scent. It was a nice pedicure and much needed. Then I moved to the mani seat. I got tips added on for the ombré look I wanted. In all, the process took about 1.5 hours for the SNS look. Mollie did my nails and I love them. Granted I'm not used to having this type of length but it looks good. They are kind of pricey but I definitely got what I paid for. I would go back again if I was in the area and just stick to the basics of a regular pedicure and gel manicure. read more

This stuff is just so rude it's unbelievable I am surprised how very still working her in any other circumstance Louis and they are related or dad. I went last Tuesday to remove my acrylic and get gel or tips done. They put me to soak them right away which of course took some time but that was fine and it minimized the damage to the nail. The young lady who did my nails cut them in a nice shape and applied the gel nicely and I thought that it would last but it has not even been a week and my gel polish is already coming off in several places. I'm sad that it did not even last a good two weeks. Also while I was there, they did not even offer me any water or drinks but asked everyone else in the salon. read more

I, too, am not sure what kind of acrylic is being used however 4 of my nails have broke. The nails looked good to begin with but I have never experienced anything like this with having multiple nails popped off. I have to find somewhere else to go today to get my nails done. My sister and I came here a few weeks ago. My gel pedicure was a great experience. I felt like the nail technician did a great job on my toes. When it came to my manicure however, they mixed up me and my sisters colors. I ended up with a light mint color and my sister ended up with the darker teal color I wanted. That part wasn't a big deal, both were pretty colors so we just went along with it. My manicure was subpar at best. It was sort of sloppy, it did not go all the way to the edge of my nail and the lines were not straight at all. When it came to my sisters nails, they could not get her previous gel off and kept insisting that she had powder on her nails. They had to send over 3 people to get it off and the last woman, who I assume was some sort of manager, kept arguing with my sister about what was on her nails. She was unprofessional, argumentative and lacked any sort of customer service skills. My nail tech mostly remained quiet in the midst of all this. The mint color on my nails was a more translucent polish. My nails looked sort of splotchy and I knew it was because it was translucent so I asked for another coat just on my thumb nail. The manager woman then started arguing with me saying that it wasn't the polish, it was my nails. I had literally just asked for an extra coat on ONE of my nails. My nail tech seemed conflicted because I think he wanted to do the coat because I had asked but his manager was basically telling him not to. I wrapped up before my sister did. My nails were so-so. My sister asked for an extra top coat and the manager woman ROLLED HER EYES at my sister. It was unbelievable. Our experience up until the manicures were good. My pedicure still looks great. I wish they would take the same precision and care with my toes with my hands. I'd even consider giving this place another chance but only if I did not have to deal with that woman again. She was rude and should not work with people. read more

5 stars for Yoyo. I should preface this review but saying I'm an extra picky, local who has tried all DuPont / Admo nail places and this is by far my favorite. Cosmo outshines the competition. A salt scrub and hot stone massage are included with a regular pedicure. A gel manicure has a sugar scrub included in warm months and a parrafin wax treatment included in the cold months. Plus they have great hot loose tea, sangria, wine inclusive for all guests. The nail techs are superior to others in the neighborhood, and do gel, SNS, acrylics, experienced with various shapes (coffin, tapered, etc), polishes (gel, liquid gel, SNS), and designs. read more

This is my favorite nail salon in the area! The inside could use a little TLC, but the staff are all friendly and the prices are good. I've been coming here for a while, but recently came in before my wedding with my mom, a friend, and a 4 year old. They were accommodating of all of us and did a great job with the 4 year old with us. I really appreciated how patient they were with her. This will continue to be my go to nail salon for sure! read more

I was looking for a new nail salon in D.C. and I absolutely found it in Cosmo. I called in the morning and booked an appointment with Yoyo at noon. Yoyo was so friendly, worked so hard to make sure my nails were perfect and was really fun to chat with! She helped me choose the perfect colours to get the effect I was looking for, and made suggestions for how we can care for my nails and strengthen them in the lead up to my wedding! I will definitely be coming in to get chrome nails and SNS in the next few months! Another thing I really appreciated was how honest Yoyo was about the services the offer and the results that can be expected. I like that she was really upfront about how long she expected nail tape to last - lots of salons mislead clients about these details when it comes to nail art. They serve delicious coffee with sweetened condensed milk - the perfect pick me up! If you can, take advantage of their early bird deals where a gel manicure (including removal and a paraffin hand treatment) is only $26! This is absolutely the best deal in town! I loved this place... until I got an infection after my last visit here. Yes, I got a disgusting toe infection after getting a pedicure here. I ended up having to go to the doctor and getting antibiotics. I saw them use a fresh pack of supplies, so that leads me to believe that they do not clean the foot baths properly and/or thoroughly. read more

This nail salon definitely deserves a 5 star! Been here 4 times now for a gel manicure only each time and they have the best up to date modern nail techniques and polishes. Additionally, I was driving to Old Town when I live in the city and would often battle additional traffic as well as parking issues. So when I saw the fabulous reviews for Dupont Lash I decided to give them a shot. First, I was so pleased with how easy it was to book and that I was able to find availability the same week. That was challenging at the last place I went because there was only 1-2 lash techs. When I met Sara, she was so helpful in asking me what look I was going for. I showed her my past applications that were my absolute favorite as well and sharing with her the overall look I was going for. She understood the assignment immediately and nailed in on the first time. When I came back the second time I just wanted as very slight modification, and once again she executed it perfectly. (And she is so lovely!) Additionally, my lashes seem to stay on some much longer. Although I typically do a two week fill, my two week mark usually still looks so fresh and so good! Overall, I'm glad I made the switch and found a place that is more convenient and consistent.

While I've had lash extensions since November, not once did any of the techs at the other salons tell me the extension length I wanted was WAY too long for my natural lashes to support. I was having to spend tons of money each week to get a fill because my natural lashes just couldn't support the weight. Still being a newbie to extensions, I knew something didn't seem quite right with my current extensions but I just didn't know for sure. I decided to switch salons and booked a "fill from another salon" and was told to text photos of my current lashes to the Art of Lash. Within 10 minutes, Malin called me to discuss my current lashes and the possibility that they won't be able to fill on them. She suggested we re-book as a removal and full set (which is precisely what we did). When I arrived to Art of Lash for my consultation and (possible) fill, Christina sat down with me and completed a consultation before looking to the damage that had been done by other places. This is the first time I've had anyone really take me through the steps and ask me what I was looking for. She provided pictures of different shapes and before/afters of people to show the results. When I finally laid down and Christina saw my lashes, she was pretty upset. She said there was 1) WAY too much glue 2) way too much length (only 30% of your lash length max, mine were more than 50%), and then 3) multiple extensions glued together- meaning there was twice the amount of weight per lash. NO WONDER WHY I HAD SUCH A HIGH TURNOVER RATE!!! My lashes simply couldn't support the extension that were incorrectly and unskillfully applied by other salons. Of course this meant Christina had to remove my old extensions and then apply a full new set. Yes, it was a lengthy process (especially if you're not someone who can fall asleep aka me), but it was SO SO worth it. My lashes look amazing now and are much healthier with a normal turnover rate. When the appointment concluded, Christina was super helpful in giving me aftercare instructions, recommending a cleanser, and recommending I use a lash serum (since I like length & the extensions from before damaged my natural lashes). At the other two salons before this one, I was NEVER told how to clean and care for my lash extensions so this was so incredibly refreshing. Yesterday, I had my first 2 week fill. This was the first time since November I have been able to retain lashes this long and not look like a crazy person. Christina informed me my lashes were growing back in pretty well & my retention rate was awesome. Amazing what can happen when the proper length is used and care instructions are given! Art of Lash has changed my world! Moral of the story: if you're looking at reviews on here to make an informed decision, you've found your lash place. Don't risk your lash health just for cheaper prices elsewhere because this salon is 110% worth the cost. Christina is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and an overall kind person. The salon is gorgeous and has wonderful aftercare products for sale as well! You won't regret getting your lashes done here!

I was getting lash removal & a new set of classic/hybrid lashes. I've been getting eyelash extensions for 13 years and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. They were thin, whispy, pre-made fans that were poorly glued onto only some of my lashes. They started falling off almost immediately, and there were visible white clumps of glue that a friend pointed out because she thought I had crumbs on my eyes. One week later when I went to another eyelash studio, they couldn't even tell I had any extensions on until they put me under the lights. I would've been better off just curling my own lashes & using mascara because mine are thicker & longer than whatever they used. I've never had such poor quality.

This review is for Sera…read more I completely understand that a stylist's time is valuable, and I know it's frustrating when clients are late. I also understand why my appointment needed to be rescheduled. My issue is not with the policy, it's with how I was treated. I was made to feel like an inconvenience from the moment I walked into the salon. I had a 12:45 p.m. appointment and called before leaving home to let the salon know I was running about 10 minutes late, which is their stated grace period. The receptionist told me she would let Sera know. At 12:56 p.m., when I was literally one minute away from the salon, I received a call saying Sera could no longer see me because I was late, and she had back-to-back clients. While I was disappointed, I understood. I asked if I could still come in briefly to speak with Sera because I wasn't even sure I needed a full highlight service, and the receptionist agreed. When I arrived, Sera immediately told me I needed to reschedule and seemed unwilling to discuss my hair beyond commenting that the back was "really dark" and explaining that she had returning clients scheduled after me. She didn't seem to know or care that I was a returning client. Sera had done my hair in February, and I came back because I had really liked her work. Not recognizing me in and of itself is not a big problem--I know a lot of people sit in her chair--but it made the interaction feel impersonal and left me wondering if she'd even prepared for my appointment. I was fully prepared to work with Sera and the receptionist to find another date and time that fit both of our schedules. Instead, both were unhelpful, dismissive, and rude. This experience was especially difficult because I have pretty severe alopecia areata that, thankfully, is now well controlled with medication, allowing me to grow most of my hair back. That said, I wore a wig for five years after losing most of my hair, so finding a stylist I trust is still an incredibly vulnerable and anxiety-producing experience. Every time I see someone new, I have to explain my hair loss and why I prefer a lived-in color that doesn't require overly frequent trips to the salon. I chose to return to Sera because I thought I had found someone I could continue seeing. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and genuinely upset. I walked out of the salon, called my husband, and cried like a reprimanded little girl. I am a 35-year-old grown-ass woman. Policies are important, and I respect them. Kindness and professionalism are just as important. Had the situation been handled with empathy and respect, I would have happily rescheduled. Instead, I left feeling less like a person and more like a time slot or a dollar sign. It seems like Sera may have enough clients that turning one away isn't a big deal, but I was respectful, cooperative, and ready to work with her to find another appointment. I deserved that same courtesy and respect in return.
