Went in to catch up on some work emails and have a drink/lunch. Took 15 mins before anyone even acknowledged I was there. Only 1 other customer so not busy at all. Asked if they had WiFi and was told boss will not allow it...so I left after one beer and no food. Who doesn't have WiFi in 2024??Not an inviting place. A bit outdated. The brunch food here was very tasty. There was a lot of attention to detail that we appreciated and surprised us for "bar food". We had the burger, avacado toast, and the short rib hash which were all tasty. Our server Diamond was very attentive and friendly despite being busy behind the bar and serving food. We were looking for something simple and tasty after a long, hot day of helping the son move into college. This popped up as a possibility and, as one who's long had an interest in the Pomona Mall, I decided we'd give it a try. Metro wants to be a sports bar, an event center, a dance hall, etc. We could only judge the first, and it does a decent, if uneven, job. FOOD -- Basic brewpub fare: burgers, sandwiches, a few dishes, pasta combos. We both had the pastrami burgers, which were tasty if hard to hold. My onion rings were good, as were my wife's brussel sprouts. DRINK -- While there were some interesting and local brews on tap, a lot of what was there was standard Big Bev beers, with a heavy lean on the IPAs. They also had a decent set of house cocktails. Our mules were both good, though not well-mixed when we received them. I followed up with a Kilt Lifter scottish ale which was quite nice. SERVICE -- Quick and attentive. Granted, it wasn't busy early on a Saturday night, but our waiter was right there, whenever we needed him, and the food and drink both came out fast. Staff was all wearing masks, and other reviews indicate they have been very diligent in dealing with the pandemic. AMBIENCE -- A classy-looking joint inside, with an atrium to a higher floor. TV screens scattered all over the place, though we managed to choose a table with very few that we had a clear view of. Interesting play set of music going on, which was lightly distracting but not too badly loud. OVERALL -- I'd recommend this place for someone to give a try. There's nothing that really recommends it from other sports bars, but it's not a big chain operated from another state, but a local business, a key tenant on the Pomona Mall, so supporting it helps support the community, too. read more

But the fact they don't make this place accessible or even have an elevator working for those who cannot take the stairs to the bottom floor is unexplainable. So let me tell you about my new favorite place! *This will be very long so just a heads up! My sis and I have never been here. It was between Donovan's and this joint. I called earlier that day and spoke to BRENDA (kind and sweet by her tone of voice) and asked about reservations. Once we arrived, it wasn't crowded at all! Good for us! The hostess gave us an option between a booth and a table so we took the booth near the kitchen. It was perfect size! Although the table next to us was extremely loud, that didn't stop us from having a good time! My sis and I ordered a strawberry margarita and a mango margarita (both blended) Let me tell you about these margaritas. Casa Moreno and El Jefe have nothing on this place (nothing against these places btw)! Usually when I ask for blended elsewhere, it arrives watered down by the time it gets to the table or it just taste like ice and nothing else. The margaritas here were very good. I hope to try the other ones they offer (maybe next weekend ). I asked to speak to the manager when the BOH Lead cook, ADAM introduced himself to us. My sister and I passed on praise because how could you not when the food tasted like that?? Shout out to the entire BOH because the food was GOOD! Adam was very attentive as if he was our server. He made sure we were taken care off. Thank you Adam for your service and kindness!! Adam was able to ask to GM to come to the table so we could briefly speak to her (I was unable to get her name but I believe her profile is somewhere on their Yelp page). I typically feel gross and regretful after eating out but this place made me want to come back sooner than I think! Walked in, I was instructed to sit anywhere and they'd be right with me., I was given a menu and asked what I'd like for a drink, said Coca Cola /Pepsi... Being in the space there is a cover artist singing Elton John songs, the atmosphere is relaxed and joyful as I see people enjoying themselves watching sports on the tv's and drinking to their hearts content. I ordered a Caesar salad and the Metro nachos appetizer., I wasn't expecting a full size order of the salad which I'm looking forward to., also a full plate of nachos with black beans, cheese sauce, and guacamole, I opted out of the poco de gallo and jalapeños. This was my old stomping ground... I went to school located within 5 minute walking distance. And you're correct to think I would go here with my friends after class! It was our way to decompress. As students, we would sometime run into our professors after class.. and when we graduated, we joined some of them for happy hour... definitely miss those days where exams were the only things I needed to worry about... Restaurant is pretty big. The bottom floor has some pool tables and a dart board. My first time play darts was at Metro, and I got so addicted that I even bought my own professional set. Almost a decade later, this place hasn't changed. Food is still delicious. Beer selection is still great. Bunch of working TVs for the sports fans. Vibe is great and versatile. It can be fun and loud on certain/busy nights. It can be chill for you and your group of friends. Or it can be just a restaurant for great pub food, entrees, and beer! I always love their bar food menu. Everything on there pairs well with their rotating beers on tap. Today, I got the Southwestern Turkey Melt, and it hit the spot. I love how the bread is toasted with grilled Parmesan. Usually patty melts are on the soggy side but the bread here is extremely toasty and crispy. Oh, and make sure you ask for a side of ranch for your fries! Their house ranch goes well with anything fried! The sliders also looked delicious so I might have to try that the next time I'm back. Honestly, due to covid 19. We were a bit skeptical going out to restaurants and being around people all over again. The thought of crowds had instilled fear in us because we had become accustomed to staying home. Putting fears aside, we decided it was time to adapt to our new world with precautions. We decided to try Metro ale house. And I have to say, I am so glad we decided to step out of our comfort zone and went! They definitely took on the social distance measurements seriously. All outdoor dining tables were a minimum of 6ft apart or more. Tables were sanitized and there was a bottle of hand sanitizer at every table. Waiters all wore their mask above their nose and wore gloves. Waiters were friendly and smiling with their eyes. We were able to watch the UFC fight here which the staff accommodated. (Which was probably the best part!) The food was great, the drinks were great, the peace of mind was great! read more

Overall (4): Service, food, and pricing were pretty good. Standard bar with actually decent food. Service (4.5): Staff was very nice and generally attentive. The place is a bit large for the number of staff they had on hand but it wasn't busy and so it was okay. I would be wary if you come and it seems 75% full or they have standing patrons. Atmosphere (3): Standard sports bar, but everything was clean and lots of light. Nothing to write home about here. Food (5): Had the tacos and fried pickles. 3xTacos were good if a bit small, though the $9 price made up for it.
