Had a very yummy, wonderful, encounter with a big bowl of spaghetti, meatballs, and garlic toast. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a warm, friendly, neighborhood vibe. I needed a special request table near a tv with sound for a special program I wanted to watch, and they were extra friendly and accommodating. Hey guys, it was important, and meant a lot to me, so THANK YOU!! Got to meet James, who is one of the chefs. He was very friendly, and sweet, and I got a few tips. Checked into this venue to attend a banquet. they wound up being short handed on appetisers and also got some of the food orders wrong, but to be fair; these large events can be hard to cater for. Overall the event was a pleasant one, atmosphere was great and the staff was quite gracious (despite the mishaps). This place is awesome! The bartender Ulises was extremely friendly, and on top of things. The bar was full and he was still attentive to my needs as a consumer. The food was also delicious, and fresh. I ordered the chicken tacos and a Dos XX, and it was the perfect food/beer pairing. Oscar, the GM, came by to verify that things were tasting great which shows he cares about how his business was doing. I would definitely recommend this tavern if you want genuine, friendly staff and a clean environment. They even have a student discount for college students! Fun, friendly environment with great beer prices. Very clean place which we appreciate. We had a hamburger and salmon, meat was moist and on point with flavors and the salmon my girl loved. Should be called the Merto "Cockroach" House. Went in to finally try this place after a time of contemplation. There were a couple other patrons so we decided to sit at the bar. As we were talking we were disrupted by an unexpected guest. At first, we dismissed it as we never really got a good look. We resumed with our conversation only to be disrupted again by the unwanted guest. This time we had a good look, and to our dismay, the roach freely approached to join us for lunch and drinks! We are open for good company but this time we had to decline the nice offering of the roache's company. Greeted warmly by the owner/manager, our waitress was friendly and attentive, they welcomed our dog, and the food was delicious and very well prepared. I usually don't eat onion rings because they are often slimy and bland but Metro's onion rings were crunchy and delicious. read more

This place was pretty disappointing. It has a very nice location, nice outside patio, and our waiter was very friendly. We had to stand there for quite a bit before someone noticed us and seated us. We got mozzarella sticks as an appetizer which were very good. Unfortunately our entrees were not. I had a chicken sandwich that just had NO flavor whatsoever. I honestly wish I could select 0 out of 5 for today's experience! I ordered through yelp again, and when I arrived, the order hadn't been placed. I understand it's a holiday and I know things happen. I was really upset by the way I was treated. No "I'm sorry", "that's awful, let me do .... for you", I'll take care of it, etc. Nothing! Instead they made me feel like I was inconveniencing them and I was in "their" way. I am a well-educated, well traveled medical student, and this is hands down, my worst experience ever! This was my first time here and it was a great find. I had the Pollo Serrano .... if you like chicken breast in a wonderful cream sauce you will love this dish. Our group had the pretzel bite to start and they melted in our mouth.... the burgers were excellent and the side salads were freshly made. I will be coming back for sure. read more

Came here to earlier today to bring my Mom out to lunch for her Birthday and we loved it! We ordered fried pickles for appetizers, the buffalo chicken sandwich, and the BBQ bacon burger. It was soooo delicious and reasonably priced too. I definitely recommend this place. read more

I had always been curious about this place and finally came in last night and boy am i glad i did! the service was great, unfortunately i can't remember our servers name, but she was very nice helped us by suggesting food and was on top of everything. I had the chicken pesto sandwhich and my bf the pastrami burger which were both DELICIOUS oh and the fried pickles! so good! defenitley recommend this place and will be back! oh and they do have pool tables downstairs with another bar very cool hangout. read more

Metro came to this place few times always a good experience. Tuesday's are always the best also enjoy Friday's and Saturdays. I enjoy the food and games especially beer pong. The drink are better then other places thanks to Marvin and Tony bartender for the night life. read more

A buddy and I walked into this place on a Friday night around 9:30 p.m. Although the place was anything but packed, we went unnoticed for over a few minutes. We didn't receive as much as a head nod or eye contact, even though we were standing right at the bar, in between two bartenders (who weren't even serving, but seemed to be organizing or cleaning). Anyway, the music was LOUD and the atmosphere seemed more like a club than what I'd come to expect from some place called an "Ale House". My buddy and I decided to walk further down 2nd street to see what Pomona had to offer. As we were exiting the Metro Ale House, some guy who was dining out in the small patio area stopped us by shouting "You guys are going to regret leaving bro!" I turned around to say "Excuse me?" He informed us, in his opinion, that we were making a huge mistake leaving so soon as there was a plan to host a Victoria's Secret giveaway later that night and that the place would be "packed with hot chicks". He then handed us two raffle tickets if we promised to return in a few minutes. We told him we wouldn't make any promises, but he gave us the tickets anyway. A trio of women walked past us as we were taking the raffle tickets from him and he shouted at the women "VICTORIA SECRETS GIVEAWAY LADIES!!!" The women exchanged questioning looks and continued walking away. I think they made a good call on that one. Anyway, I won't knock this place for not being what I expected and "Ale House" to be like...some people like that club-like, "hook-up" type atmosphere. I'm going three stars because I went ignored for too long at the bar (again, considering it was NOT busy) and the way that guy outside was giving off that "creep" vibe. read more

Stopped in for cocktails because it was the ONLY place at that hour in the area with a full bar. The drinks were super good...the Cucumber Cilantro Margarita was so delicious as was the Cadillac. The tacos were only a dollar during happy hour, but we wanted something vegetarian and the waitress let us know they were able to offer that option and they were soooo good! Went to the Metro Ale Grill for their grand opening on St. Patty's day and fell in love with the place. I have been waiting for this venue to open for a while and let me say they did not disappoint. I showed up a little early (4pm) and was a little skeptical that this place would fill up, like all the other bars in Downtown Pomona. I'm do glad to say they brought in a good crowd. The dj downstairs had good old school music. And the live band upstairs was great. Only think they need to work on is the Guiness, it was warm and they didn't let it sit also no Guiness cup. But doesn't warrant me bringing down the rating. It's their first night and they made up for it by giving us a sampler from their foo menu. The cook Chente did an awesome job on the food. We tried the Greek salad and it was superb... was told it was all made from scratch. I enjoyed the ambience and the fact that it seemed like a place you can go to to grab a drink and good food and chill. The crowd seemed decent compared to other bars in the area. Metro Ale house has always been good to myself and my friends. we've come here on a few occasions for late night eats and drinks. The staff is always attentive, friendly, funny and prompt.It feels nice that they make it a point to call us by our name. Simple things that keep us coming back. Chris is one of our favorites =) The food is really good, not what one would expect. I'm a simple girl, so the chicken fingers always make me smile. The french fries with pastrami are always a treat. Metro is a super fun place with great deals on drinks. It's a perfect place to go on any day of the week because they always have something going on. I had my birthday party here and it was a blast. Amazingly mediocre. Terrifically run of the mill. Perhaps I came in on a bad night or I'm the wrong sex but I got nearly completely ignored by the bar staff on both levels. People would come up to the bar after I was waiting and order drinks, not sure what I did wrong. I had a salad and chicken wings, the kitchen should be called "Meh". The sound system for the dj was terrible, upstairs the band hardly had a sound system. Beers cost 7 bucks, you think metro ale house can afford a starter PA system or something? This was my first time to metro ale house. Went with my girlfriend, her sister and boyfriend. First of all I parked in the back lot. My girlfriend and I tried to open the back door but of course that was closed. So, we walked to the front and met up with my girlfriend's sister which was at the front high bar tables. We asked her if she gotten seated but she said there wasn't a hostess and she just sat down. So, she told us to see if there was a better table to watch the game we walked around and the owner came up to us and said you can sit anywhere you would like. At the time we couldn't find a better table so we just stuck with the first one in the front. After a while of waiting nobody came up to us I waived down a waitress who was really nice. She finally came to us and brought us full menus and a drink menu. Since it was before 7pm it was happy hour still and that menu was at every table. Lots of apps, beers on tap and well drinks $5.00. So, we ordered happy hour drinks and some apps. We saw a big party leave and moved to that table since the tvs were better to watch from there. They were playing the nba finals and soccer too. Finally are appetizers came which we ordered calamari and spinach dip. Wasn't expecting much the calamari because it was different which looked like fish sticks covered in panko and tarter sauce which was also different instead of marinara sauce. The spinach dip was alright but not thick it was kind of runny. Then we got our second round of drinks and ordered our meals. My girlfriend and I both had burgers. She had the metro burger rare with onion rings and I had the bbq bacon burger with fries. Her sister and boyfriend had a burger and steak sandwich. The food was good but my burger wasn't cooked right and was really messy. But overall it was pretty clean and cool they had a open kitchen. We used a groupon and they did take it without any complaints. Also, I noticed the place was pretty packed for a monday night and it looked like they needed some help. People working owner handling bar duties, two waiters and two cooks. Pros: food, clean kitchen Cons: The smoking area is too close to the bar area and sometimes it smells like smoke inside the restaurant!, Needs hostess, bartender and busser/runner. PS: I saw two pregnant women sitting at the bar which was very uncomfortable since this is an ale house/bar which has to be unhealthy because of the smoke that comes in from people smoking cigarettes outside. read more
