The 3 stars is purely for the service; the ladies there that Sunday were friendly and welcoming. I…read morebooked my appointment for Saturday May 24th but little did I know my cousin's wedding would be held on Sunday May 25th. When I called to see if I can reschedule it to the following day, I was told no appointments under my name existed. I was peeved but it worked out fine since I needed it for Sunday anyway. Sunday was booked for 2PM. I arrived at 12:15PM and requested to be seen earlier. I was told to come back at 12:30PM. Yay! I was very anxious because every time I step out of MAC, I feel like a million bucks. I assumed every MAC would create the same experience. Sadly, that did not occur. Although the girl that did my makeup was very nice but she didn't create the smoky eyes like I asked and the lashes she put on me looked incredibly fake. Granted I know I can't expect to look "natural" after a makeup session but it looked totally unreal in an unpleasant manner. To me. Everyone at the wedding liked it but that goes to show you that I do not care what people think or say about me - what matters to me is how I feel and see myself. I was unhappy. My fault. I should have gone to the MAC in San Jose at Westfield Valley Fair. This is just one of many that is added to my "why Santa Cruz sucks" mental list. Side note: I had a blast at my cousin's wedding and cannot wait for another event to get glamorous for. I'm not a makeup person and will never be. You just need to spend at least $50 in MAC products for the makeup session; a really good deal.

I have almost completely converted to MAC makeup so I end up here a lot - I can't seem to run out of everything at the same time. The counter seems to be permanently swamped but you always get at least some acknowledgement that you are there and waiting, which makes such a difference. The artists are willing to give recommendations - I always need help finding that perfect everyday shadow, and I have never been disappointed with their picks. For Halloween this year, I decided to be 100% girly and wanted to add fake lashes to my look. I have been wanting to try them for a while, but the application process and glue in particular scared me. I mentioned them to Jasmine as an afterthought, and she went through the entire procedure with me, did the motions in front of the mirror, trimmed the lashes, and gave me one of the Q-tippy applicators for the glue. So nice! Come Halloween, I got them on my lids first try and they looked amazing. This has totally opened up a whole new world of femininity for me.

I have had two successful surgeries performed by Dr. Garner. Both of which exceeded my…read moreexpectations. I have also had non-surgical procedures done (Botox) in his office over a few years (sadly I now go somewhere over the hill closer to where I work). Dr. Garner is an honest and intelligent doctor. He is knowledgeable, kind, and capable. His office is clean and staff caring and helpful. Beyond my two surgeries, Dr. Garner has consulted me on a major surgery that I got elsewhere. He was available, confident, and took the time necessary to answer all of my questions. I think that he is a great resource to have if you are considering plastic surgery. I just can't say enough good things about him, and the rest of the office as well.

My postoperative experience after a facelift began with a complaint about my face. Instead of…read moreaddressing it, Dr. Steven Garner focused on my right ring finger and said he could cut it off ..., an alarming statement that made me question his judgment and intentions. Before the procedure, my dominant right hand functioned well. Although my ring finger bent at one joint, I could make a fist by trapping it with my little finger, and I was not seeking hand surgery. Garner never told me, on April 27, 2005, that he intended to perform surgery on my hand. The surgery took place the next day, April 28, 2005 ..., and I was under anesthesia for approximately six hours, during which students were present and participated, something I was never told about or asked to consent to. What followed was, in my experience, far beyond what I understood myself to be consenting to. I was left with serious loss of function in my right hand ..., from better than 50% median nerve function beforehand to what specialists later described as complete loss. In the years afterward, I consulted hand specialists and spent extensive time trying to determine what had been done and why. My concerns are supported by handwritten notes from 2007, in which I disputed the description of my preoperative hand, disputed his claim that he had cut into a preexisting forearm scar, questioned the use of a Hunter rod, questioned what I had consented to, and sought expert opinions and records. Two hand specialists I consulted, Diao and McCarroll, told me it would have been impossible to graft a tendon from my middle finger to my ring finger because the tendon wasn't long enough ...,directly contradicting the explanation I'd been given. A hand surgeon who later examined me said, in his opinion, that Garner appeared to want to get a Hunter rod procedure "under his belt." I cannot know Garner's private motivation and present that only as the surgeon's opinion, not established fact. This experience changed my life. Patients considering significant procedures should obtain a clear written explanation of the proposed treatment, alternatives, who will perform each part, and the precise scope of consent.

Parking is street only which means there is no parking, although the beach parking lots are not even a block away, in summer as this place is so very popular that may not be as helpful as you may hope. This is a tiny shop, so small that three people will fill it up. While the main portion of the stock is dessert themed bathing stuff-bath bombs (Also known as bubble bars. For those that may not know bath bombs are used to add essential oils, scent, bubbles, color and whatnot to the tub. Typically they fizz up a bit as well.), scrubs, oils, lotions, shampoos and whatnot as well as yes, lotions of the intimate hur hur hur kind. The owner was originally thinking of a one stop shop for everything needed for a luxe, sensuous, bath excepting the bathroom, but wound up selling more of the soaps and scrubs as opposed to the silky private lotion thingys. Having said that if you are needing some quality lubrication for that special adult time, yeah sure they have it. Make no mistake however this is not an adult shop. But most folks just pick up the bath bomb stuff, and it actually manages to be kid friendly. Sounds odd or quirky? Hey welcome to the north bay. Overall it's a great shop for bathroom fluff.

The sales person working here was full of knowledge and was a great salesperson. They had so many different things I have never even heard of! I didn't end up buying anything since my wallet was a bit too empty. However, in the future I would love to come treat myself to some of their fun items! Everything smelled amazing in here and I love supporting local places.
