Even…read morethough my treatment time with them was short, sadly I did not have the experience that I had hoped for. I was referred by my OB/GYN for help with better management of my PCOS symptoms and the hope to get to a place where I could conceive naturally, or with minimal help/treatment. My first consultation with Dr. Derman was okay. He was professional, and initially made me feel heard. I was given two options for helping my PCOS: 1) lose weight, possibly with a GLP1 from my PCP, to see if that helped with my PCOS and allowed me to conceive or 2) jump into ovulation induction medications to get pregnant ASAP. Ultimately I chose to go the GLP1 route through my PCP and put a hold on option 2. Dr. Derman prescribed me a birth control, as he wanted me to try to regulate my cycle and I needed to be on BC if I started taking a GLP1. I started having "breakthrough bleeding" on the pill, which I was expecting. However, the bleeding lasted for 75 days. While it wasn't heavy bleeding the entire time, it was enough to have to use my menstrual cup every day for those 75 days. I reached out to the clinic a few times during those 75 days to express concern and to ask "how long is too long?" Every time I got the same answer, to continue taking the pill and that the bleeding was to be expected; that there was no concern unless I was filling my menstrual cup within a couple of hours. I discussed this with my PCP, who helped me make the decision to change my birth control pill. I started a new pill, and the bleeding stopped within 10 days. It was clear that the birth control Dr. Derman put me on was not ideal for my body...but they didn't seem to care, even when I told them the constant bleeding was taking a physical and mental toll. I decided to no longer seek any care through New Direction. To me, it felt like my care was put on the back burner since I wasn't trying to actively get pregnant. It felt like I wasn't worth their time or effort, and it was very disheartening. Sadly, this ruined their reputation for me. If I couldn't count on them to listen to a concern about a birth control pill, it doesn't instill a lot of trust that they'll be the right providers for me should I need fertility treatment.

I'm glad he did, because this is a doctor you want on your side. Since then, he has replaced his office staff with concerned, capable, friendly and helpful people who cross all their T's and dot their I's. As for for Dr. Husein, I'm impressed by him as a professional and a human being, who opts to serve low income families in South Mountain, where trying to find a specialist in the neighborhood is like looking for a lit match in a giant black hole. He never makes you feel rushed, really listens to you, isn't reluctant to order the tests you need, and treats you like the sentient human being that you are. I never feel "talked down to" and always walk away feeling confident in his ability to diagnose and heal. And as a former New Yorker, I'm never confident about anyone! If you need a great cardiologist, Dr. Husein is your man.

The three stars on this review are truly for the assisting staff (nurse, office manager, front desk…read moreetc). They are truly so wonderful, kind, attentive and thorough. I truly appreciate all the help they provided me in my situation. However, if it was not for them, I am not sure I would given past one star. The initial intake visit was alright, minus being told that I am too young to have any real heart issues or any complications from Covid vaccines (even though many of my peers and family have been dealing with heart issues as a side effect). Brushing a patient off because of age is not quite a good practice. Here's where my experience continued to decline. I do not live in Arizona, so I ended up traveling back home soon after completing some in office and at home tests. I wanted those tests sent over to my PCP at home so she could review them when I went to my routine check up with her. I was told that the doctor would refuse to release my results to me (or anyone) before I have a follow up visit. This was the first major point of concern because I am not entirely sure that is legal given that I paid for these tests. So I am forced to do a call visit where the staff is running late so I tell them to take their time. Then the NP gets on the visit and tells me that there is no time to complete the proper duration of the visit because I am late to the call and she has someone after me. Bear in mind, I cannot be late to a call that I have not received. After some more wasted time, she says she will complete the call. I had to press them on the call to send me a copy of my results so that I can actually follow along with the reading, as this was an audio call not a video call (yet being charged as a full doctor visit). Words cannot describe the insanity of that. After going through the visit to be told that my results are fine, something that could have been emailed or sent as a voicemail. Doctors have a habit nowadays of charging you for doing minimal effort work, and charging you unnecessarily for things that do not require a visit. In my case, my results were refused to be released to me until I paid them more money for a follow up visit, that once again, was absolutely unnecessary. I have doctors of my own that I truly appreciate for running an honest practice, I can't say this is one.

Dr. Orris performed my gastric sleeve surgery 6/21/2023. I'm down 16 lbs from surgery in just about…read morea month and lost about 8lbs on the pre-op diet, so I am feeling awesome! I have Surgery Plus and the whole process was quick and easy to get approved for surgery. Tip: If you have Surgery Plus- be sure to ask about hotel/travel and per diem benefits! I am a nurse and was honestly really worried about having this type of surgery in an outpatient setting, but I was assured by Dr. Orris and his team that I would be okay. I put my trust in him and have to say, it was an excellent experience. Immediately post-op and for about 2-3 days afterwards I had A LOT of nausea, which was explained to be normal and due to swelling of the stomach after surgery. The day after my surgery I went back in to have my drain removed and was told I could do the IV clinic if I felt I needed it. (Which I did and am so thankful this was offered). Pain was very minimal- I never even took Tylenol! Anne Marie is the heart and soul of this place- she travels between the offices and I swear she is everywhere and does everything! Elvia took great care of me for my day 1 post op appointment and got me well hydrated with 2 bags of IV fluids. Mike is the nutritionist and he is so helpful and kind- you can tell he really wants to help his patients! He even gave some advice to my wife who joined me on a post op appt. Dr. Orris is a serious, no nonsense kind of guy. However, he took a lot of time to talk with me and discuss my care, options, what to expect, etc. I felt comfortable and safe in his care. He even gave me his personal number if I encountered any problems in the process. I've NEVER had a doctor do that! My one negative is that the office is being restructured and a lot of the nurses in the surgical center are clearly new or inexperienced in the specialty. The circulator in the actual surgery (dang do I wish I remembered her name) was very seasoned and made me feel very comfortable for my actual surgery. However, the pre-op nurse didn't even know basic medications and once she found out I was a nurse was basically asking me for opinions on jobs that sounded like she wouldn't be too stressed out or have to work too hard.... Growing pains are definitely part of the experience but most everyone I came across was kind and helped me get through this process. If you are thinking about surgery, do it. If you are thinking about using AZ Weight Loss- do it!

Dr. Suber and his two fellow "neurologists" at BANNER DESERT SAM HOSPITAL can not diagnose their way out of a paper bag. He needs to go back to medical school PRONTO !! On February 4th, 2020, I went to DESERT SAM URGENT CARE, because for 6 months, CJ HARRIS - CIGNA failed to diagnose my disease. Within 30 hours, on February 5th at 7:38 pm, I was found dead in their PACU by an attendant nurse ... having died of ACUTE HYPERCAPNIC RESPIRATORY FAILURE due to an OVERDOSE OF SEDATIVES ... for an MRI TEST. Dr. SUBER and his two associates could never diagnose my MG neurological disease ... despite my VERY POSITIVE AChR Test results at 3 am on February 10th, that another doctor ordered. I was TRACHED, PEGGED, CATHED, and sent UNDIAGNOSED to a DIGNITY Hospital downtown on February 27th on a late night ambulance run. Due to the fuckups of those three " Neurologists ???" at the BANNER HOSPITAL, I did not get out of the THIRD HOSPITAL till June 11, 2020. REFUSE HIM ... if you need a SPINAL TAP !!! The medical paper work that I recovered said it took him NINE "ATTEMPTS" to get a sample. Medical journals say that if you can't get a sample after THREE ATTEMPTS, ... you need to schedule it for another day or YOUR SPECIMEN RECOVERED will be faulty and UNUSABLE !!

Hello. I have had the worst experience not with the doctor, as she is unfortunately away from the…read moreoffice but with the office staff and Office manager named Terry. This started last week when the pharmacy faxed in my prescription refill 4 times with no response from the doctor, this is per the Walgreens Pharmacist. So, I called the doctors office and they said I needed to come in for an appt. BEFORE I can get my refill. I was told if I made a appt. they could call it in, so I did. Then I got a call back saying I needed to first come in and then they could refill it (remember, since they took so long to get back to the pharmacy, I since ran out of my daily medicine). When I explained this was an issue as I am already out of the medicine they then said that was not their problem. I asked to speak with a doctor as they would know that this particular medicine can't be missed as my health is at stake and they refused. They also said that my insurance would not cover it without the appt. so I called my insurance company, they said that was not true, they did a three way call to the doctors office and we got Terry, the office manager who said they would not refill my medication and would not let us speak with a nurse or doctor, she hung up on us! So, the insurance company then got one of their RN on the line and we called back again. She asked so speak with a nurse or doctor and they refused but did get Terry on the line, again, the one who hung up. She said they could get me in tomorrow at 1:30 (before they couldn't get me in for 2 weeks as my doctor is on vacation....they expected I'd go all that time without my medicine....can you hear law suit in the event something happens to me?) I took the appt. even though it affects my work, children and parents I take care of. Then I got a voicemail this morning saying they made an error and can't get me in until 3 instead, which, won't work as I already made arrangements for 1:30. So, I called this morning and got another different Terry who said I wasn't even on the schedule, to which I said, I have the voicemail if you'd like to hear it. She became rude and said well you are not and I have other calls in line. I said, I need to get make an appt. as you all called an moved it and I can't make the time to which she insisted I was not on the schedule even though both the insurance company heard it AND I HAVE A VOICEMAIL saying I am. I asked to get scheduled and she said no one was in and hung-up on me. This is the second hang-up. I called right back and got an appt. for tomorrow. Fingers crossed I am not taken off the schedule. Definitely going to the State Board if my doctor, when she returns, does not see this as a major issue. I have been seen in this office for decades! Poor staff, it's hard to find good help but in the medical field both should be FIRED!
