Location: Downtown Bastrop. There's minimal parking on the street and a parking lot about a block away behind the downtown strip. Food: I had the chicken tender basket. The tenders and fries were good, but the gravy was way too thick. It was congealed and the consistency was unappealing. I could have flipped the cup over and the gravy wouldn't have spilled out. My friend had a steak and said it was pretty good. He liked it better than the wings. Service: Slow. Our server Alexia was nice, but she along with the other servers were running around like crazy. When they brought out our food, we didn't have any utensils. We had to flag down someone and they only brought out one set of utensils. The servers just seemed like they were in the weeds. They were much faster at bussing tables, than serving food. Sports: There's a ton of screens all throughout the restaurant. Unfortunately, they didn't have the sound on for any of the games. We were trying to watch the UH game and kept missing stuff because the sound was off. On top of that, we requested for one of the TV's to be turned to the Astros game. We asked two separate people and apparently they either couldn't change one of the TVs or didn't want to. When we inquired about it, they gave some sort of unclear answer about not being able to change it. I've never seen a sports bar deny a request to turn a TV to a specific game.

As usual, Old Town never fails To put out the best food! The wait staff never allows you to have an empty glass! The atmosphere is always welcoming! Stop by and see them!

New York Strip

First of all, Shauna is such an amazing bartender/waitress. She is always so sweet, on point and fast. We went on a Friday midday to celebrate my husband's birthday. We ordered the New York Strip steak and it was absolutely perfect!

This review is solely based on their drinks since we didn't order food. We stopped in on a beautiful day while strolling Main St. We picked our own table and the server was quick to take our drink order. She was friendly and the bartender made a mean Bloody Mary. We enjoyed our drinks and watched football on their multiple screens. Good place to spend your football Saturday!

Deliciousness.

We had a blast. They have one of those internet jukeboxes, AMI. If you have the app, you can select songs to play and pay. So I put in $20 worth and waited and waited. Finally, I asked why weren't my tunes playing. Seems they had it on random or something. Once they turned that off, my tunes started playing. Drinks were not bad, $3.75 for a beer, $6.50 for a Jack and Coke. The bartenders Kealy and LeeRoy were a lot of fun. LeeRoy whom is all of 20-something, could sing any song I played from the 60s to the 80s. And LeeRoy makes a mean go and tonic A lot of fun. I played 'What's Going On' by Four Non-blondes and had all the people seated at the bar singing. Kealy said we had to tone it down because people were eating. WTF?! The GM told him to calm it down. Damn, we were all having such a good time. This is what keeps me from giving five stars. Such a bummer. Go there anyway when in Bastrop.

Our server Dee had the personality and energy that would have us coming back as regulars if we were local. My Aggie hat drew the attention of what turned out to be the owner Justin. We proceeded to have a wonderful conversation on the state of college football while we waited for our pizza. Which was delicious! And a cherry on top for me, a little live music. Glad we got there early because they get busy. I can't see myself ever going to Bastrop and not stopping in.

I was with a large party and we were seated on an outdoor deck area that overlooks a lovely greenbelt and the Colorado river. I was uncertain about outdoor seating in June, but they had lots of fans that dispense a light mist to help cool the area. The drinks were excellent, I had a margarita on the rocks with tajin rim and it was tasty and refreshing. The food was fabulous! I highly recommend the meatballs. Everyone in our party could not get enough of them. I will be back to try the wings, they looked delish. Misty was our server and I am still in awe over her. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in our (very large) party was taken care of. There were dozens of us and I'm not even sure how she managed to do it but I realized afterwards, I never waited long for anything. Misty was always nearby and so kind and attentive. Im not sure how she took care of so many people at once, it was amazing, honestly. Ive never seen such efficiency and I don't know how she did it. I hope I'm lucky enough to see her again when I go back to sample those wings!

Technically, I'd give this a 4.5/5 for the elevated airport prices, but you're sort of a captive audience and I have to give credit to AUS for at least including local brands, even when they some are tweaked a little bit to be included. (I'm looking at you, 24 Diner's less-anchovy-y airport caesars.) There's not really anything to change about beer, thank goodness. This stand has Austin Beerworks' beer, which is some damn good beer. I wish ABW had a distribution deal in the northeast so I could continue drinking it at my new house. Service at the Beerdrop is usually friendly and just the right amount of attentive--friendly if you're bored, hands-off if you've got a laptop out. One bartender on a slow day even checked on my order at the other food hall counter for me, which was rad. There's a full bar with non-beer options, too, although I've only ever been there for the beer. It can get a little loud and crowded if the wider food hall's busy, but unless you're hitting at peak food o'clock, it's pretty laid-back in there.

I ordered a 14-ounce serving of Fire Eagle IPA (for $11.49)--which is very good. The bartender suggested to instead order the 20-ounce serving for $1.50 more ($0.65 per ounce rather than $0.82). However, I was trying to spare some room in my stomach for a subsequent crawl to Hippies & Hops (featuring local beers from Live Oak Brewing). I lucked out on the timing, to watch an NFL playoff game during my visit here. It was surprising that other patrons at the bar were mostly drinking beers other than the local beers that this bar showcases; or alcoholic beverages other than beer. I like the easygoing atmosphere here, where it is easy to socialize with the bartenders and patrons.

For reasons that make no sense to any experienced summer festival-goer, the Q2 powers-that-be decided to make this a "no re-entry" event, meaning that attendees are basically locked in the stadium with very few options for relief from the heat. Thank heaven for PointsBet Sports Bar! PointsBet Austin is located inside of Q2 stadium on the north end near the Zebra Gate, up some stairs just to your right as you enter the gate. They have cold air-conditioning, at least one phone recharging station, a few table games, seating for at least 50 people, and standing room for a couple hundred others. Plus, there's a huge horseshoe bar serving plenty of canned and mixed beverages. The whole north wall is floor-to-ceiling windows, providing plenty of natural light. Lastly, there are 18 flatscreens around the walls showing various sporting events and during our concert, a couple were streaming a live view of the concert stage. As expected, prices were "high" (like everything else in Austin these days), but they were in line with pricing available at the other beverage stands outside in the stadium, so we didn't pay any more than we would have out there for the same drink. According to their website, PointsBet opens 3 hours before soccer matches on regular Q2 game days, and it's one of the few air-conditioned places where non-VIP attendees can get a break from the goings-on outside.

We have two gluten free folks in the group and there were plenty of corn based options. The tostadas come with three and were nice and fresh, I was a little hesitant when it said mayo, but there was just a bit to get the shrimp and imitation crab to stick together. Turned out the kids loved the wings - we tried the citrus pepper and Austin amber bbq flavors. The chicken inside the flautas was tender and we enjoyed the cabbage, onion, carrot slaw to bring a fresh crunch. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.
