Location: Downtown Bastrop. There's minimal parking on the street and a parking lot about a block away behind the downtown strip. Food: I had the chicken tender basket. The tenders and fries were good, but the gravy was way too thick. It was congealed and the consistency was unappealing. I could have flipped the cup over and the gravy wouldn't have spilled out. My friend had a steak and said it was pretty good. He liked it better than the wings. Service: Slow. Our server Alexia was nice, but she along with the other servers were running around like crazy. When they brought out our food, we didn't have any utensils. We had to flag down someone and they only brought out one set of utensils. The servers just seemed like they were in the weeds. They were much faster at bussing tables, than serving food. Sports: There's a ton of screens all throughout the restaurant. Unfortunately, they didn't have the sound on for any of the games. We were trying to watch the UH game and kept missing stuff because the sound was off. On top of that, we requested for one of the TV's to be turned to the Astros game. We asked two separate people and apparently they either couldn't change one of the TVs or didn't want to. When we inquired about it, they gave some sort of unclear answer about not being able to change it. I've never seen a sports bar deny a request to turn a TV to a specific game. read more

We ended up at this restaurant because the first couple of places we were going to go were closed on Monday night. Not sure why. But they were open and crowded so we decided to give it a try. We only had an hour so we decided to have an appetizer and a drink. I personally did not like their margaritas at all. They didn't have any wine, etc. so I would definitely not go back there for drinks. We just decided to split the blanco queso and chips, and we added fajita meat to it. The queso was really good but I would not pay the additional four dollars for the fajita meat again because we both commented that we could not find the meat lol I even made a comment to the waitress when she brought it that they forgot our fajita meat and she told me that it was in the queso. The meat added nothing so we would have be better off without it. I'm guessing this would be a great place to go watch sports but for a nice dinner, I would pass. read more

Typical downtown local bar kind of scene but has kid menu items. Only thing I would ever change is adding live music every now and then even if it was a person with a guitar singing. Really disappointed in how much the overall quality had decreased at this iconic Bastrop establishment. The last two times we have been here, there always seems to be something broke or out in the kitchen, or something that cannot be served. I don't expect anything beyond what they do, but at least do that well. Might be time for new management. read more

We stopped in on a beautiful day while strolling Main St. We picked our own table and the server was quick to take our drink order. She was friendly and the bartender made a mean Bloody Mary. Packed Friday night local sports bar and restaurant. Super friendly bartenders and patrons. Good for families too. We had some great drinks at the bar and then took food to go. We had a blast. They have one of those internet jukeboxes, AMI. If you have the app, you can select songs to play and pay. So I put in $20 worth and waited and waited. Finally, I asked why weren't my tunes playing. Seems they had it on random or something. Once they turned that off, my tunes started playing. Drinks were not bad, $3.75 for a beer, $6.50 for a Jack and Coke. The bartenders Kealy and LeeRoy were a lot of fun. LeeRoy whom is all of 20-something, could sing any song I played from the 60s to the 80s. And LeeRoy makes a mean go and tonic A lot of fun. I played 'What's Going On' by Four Non-blondes and had all the people seated at the bar singing. Kealy said we had to tone it down because people were eating. WTF?! The GM told him to calm it down. Damn, we were all having such a good time. This is what keeps me from giving five stars. Such a bummer. Go there anyway when in Bastrop. read more

Time after time I am completely appalled at trash on the floors, filthy tables and pathetic service. Last time it was a lousy waitress that had the nerve to bring our check back to the table and let us know that the tip wasn't 20%. Tonight it was a young man who had no personality and complained that he'd been stiffed on tips most of the night as I was literally signing the check. Uhm... could it be you? These entitled young people are in need of some serious training. I don't want to step foot in this dirty place again, which is really sad because if I could tip the chef instead of the servers I would eat there 3x a day. This used to be a favorite in town but now it's a last resort for a late night appetizer. If I were managing this place, its profits would triple in 6 months. What a disappointment. read more

Update: WOW what a couple of visits make. Came in for the CFS at that has changed considerably. Vieny, tough, and very small. Actually all the portions were much smaller. The worse part was the green beans. It was visibly obvious that canned was mixed in with fresh to created volume. Maybe most wouldn't noticed but unfortunately I did. My last visit here. I understand specials don't bring as much profit as regular plates but to cheap it, well that's just bad business. The chicken fried steak was good but the burger was WOW. On recommendations from the staff o got the Ol Town. I added Serrano sauce and grilled onions yum yum. Next time I'm going to add jalapeños for the extra heat. It ate like a puffy taco being it was greasy and delicate BUT so good you jus don't put it down until your done. Going to be hard to try anything else here. read more

I love this comfy, small town establishment on the corner of a cute little downtown! The bar food is exceptionally good and relatively inexpensive. There is a full bar and the bartenders can make anything you want. The service is laid back and slow, which is just the vibe in this place. Karaoke happens on Friday nights, which can be really fun and entertaining! There's also tons of tvs playing current sports. read more

Horrible. Sunday 8/13/23..was in Bastrop visiting family and always wanted to try this place. I walked in and was told to find any table. All empty tables were dirty with dishes, found a table semi clean in the back left corner. Was never acknowledged and decided to wait for my husband while he found parking. Grabbed a menu off table next to me. My husband arrived and we still did not get any help from anyone working there. Since no one acknowledged us, we left. Old town is a great place to go when you are in town. I always see a friendly familiar face. The establishment is super relaxing and easy going. Everyone is so outgoing. I mean everyone! Even the customers. Wednesday and Fridays you may catch me singing karaoke that amazing DJ will help guide you through. The Bartenders are always protecting and watching out for you. So you are always safe. The food is amazing! Shout out to Suzzee the bartender! And Kyle in the kitchen! And NY Brian for being a DJ! I recommend the cheese dip for an appetizer and a good old veggie burger for the vegetarian yumminess! All in all the place is worth visiting and trying out. Mostly a sports bar with 60 different beers and bar fare. The service was good and atmosphere had large TVs. Veggie burger was the best in Texas so far and the chips and mediterranean wrap was great. Tons of TV's for those who need to watch something and the friendliest wait staff that I have ever had the privilege of being served by and fantastic food! Good ole sports bar menu. Fried pickles had a little kick to them. Not overtly spicy, but they do sneak up!! Chicken wings (Mango Habanero) might be the best we've had in Bastrop! Fries were crispy and left unsalted . . I assume so that I could add however much salt I desired. ;) Bleu cheese dressing was yummy, too!
