A popular brunch spot on The Ave that has breakfast all day. I've only tried their breakfasts so far and they've all been decently good, if not mind-blowing. However, please note that none of the staff were wearing masks. We also saw one female staff member eating with her fingers, while using those same fingers to pack to-go orders at the same time (without washing them). That's just unsafe/unsanitary, especially during this pandemic. The staff are younger (college-aged) and look extremely busy/overworked so we didn't mind the slow prep time, but PLEASE take safety into consideration. read more

Really enjoyed our meal here. on the fly choice before the movies. not busy at all, just two other parties. interior felt homey, if maybe a bit aged. brick walls, stylish fixtures, and lots of plants. seated promptly and personably. wide-ranging menu of Greek specialties, pastas, and sandwiches/burgers. two interesting menu notes. they serve breakfast all day, a nice touch and they serve all you can drink mimosas all day every day. our server couldn't have been nicer, giving us attention around the large, distracting party across the way. she made a couple of recommendations and let us peruse the choices. my wife wasn't too hungry tonight so she chose to do a cup of the Avgolemono soup and a single skewer of the Souvlaki chicken. the soup was delicious, rich and seemingly simmered for hours to bring out the lemony flavor. the chicken was fresh grilled and has a wonderfully seasoned flavor. oregano, rosemary, and a bit of paprika create the distinctive taste. served with a side of house made Tzatziki. she loved both and when she expressed her enjoyment of the soup was offered the chef's recipe. i chose a pasta-the pesto pasta with grilled chicken. this came with an option of soup, moist and delicious chicken in a commendable quantity on top of wide noodle pasta with a totally fresh tasting pesto cream sauce. the portion was quite large and i wasn't sure i'd finish it. until i took the first bite. it all came together so deliciously i didn't leave any for later. served with choice of salad or soup and small pieces of garlic bread. i chose the salad which was the only miss of the night with rusty lettuce and a few small pieces of cucumber. didn't really detract from the experience. we will definitely be looking to visit here again when we are in the area for any events in the future. recommended. read more

Came here on a Sunday for brunch in a group of 6 at 11am and was seated immediately! The place has a comfy cozy diner atmosphere, and our waitress was super funny and attentive. I got the Classic Eggs Benedict and loved it- also tried my friend's strawberry crêpes and veggie dolmas, which were also tasty. My wife and I dined here an hour and a half before a show at the Neptune Theater. The server seemed quite harried even before we asked if she thought we would be served in time to make it to the show. She served us promptly, and we had no problem with time. That's the good part. The staffing seemed inadequate, and The restaurant didn't feel clean. Our main complaint, however, was with the food. We ordered the Olympic plate to share (Moussaka, dolmas, lamb souvlaki, spanakopita). The souvlaki was overcooked and too tough for either of us to eat, and flavors were bland throughout. The filo was soggy, Ufortunately, there isn't much choice of restaurants with any pretense of atmosphere within walking distance of the theater, so we were stuck eating here. read more

I always love Costa's! The service is good and the menu is large, I go all the time and you can't really run out of things to try. It's not fancy but its good and I enjoy being in the space, the huge plants add something special. Definitely would recommend their breakfast menu but the Greek specialties and pasta are also delicious. The hours online aren't current though, be aware that they're not open for dinner right now but hopefully that changes soon :) read more

I had been wanting to try out Costa's for some time and finally did this week. In the future I probably wouldn't order eggs again from this restaurant via Uber Eats because when they arrived they were not even lukewarm. And the order was up way ahead of schedule with 7 minutes from pickup to delivery. There's nothing exciting about cold eggs no matter how good they may have started out. The fruit was fresh and a good helping but it was weird to have fruit on aluminum foil. The metal imparts a metallic flavor that I don't particularly enjoy. I would recommend they use a non metallic container in the future for the fruit. My husband ordered a sandwich from the lunch menu and said it was very good - I only sampled the fries, which were indeed very tasty! The fries were warm upon arrival so maybe the chef needs to prep the eggs last in a to-go order in the future. read more

So I come here semi-regularly with my friend and we always enjoy our server on the weekday mornings. She knows our general orders and is always pleasant with us. The food is mostly good. A few hits a few misses. But overall, we've enjoyed our dishes most of the time. French toast is alright by my friend. I definitely dig the biscuits!! Ambiance is hole in the wall on the Ave. but it's cozy and charming in its own way. Have never been in on a busy brunch or weekend when there may be a very different vibe. I don't think this place deserves the current low rating! Crab Benedict on croissant instead of English muffin was quite delicious! My main issue is that the poached eggs were overcooked and totally solid (although at least a little jammy still rather than being FULLY chalky yolks.) But yeah, they were not runny as expected. Flavor was great, though, and the croissant made it extra special. I got this via delivery, too, which might have contributed. Also got baklava, which was tasty but a bit tough. But you get a good sized piece for the price, and it the top part was still flakey and light as expected! Lastly, I ordered a side of bacon. I prefer mine crispy, which this wasn't, but but it was nice thick bacon at least and tasted good (and I know not everyone prefers crispy bacon) l. In general, I was quite happy with my food and would order again! They were also really nice on the phone when answering my questions. I have ordered from here once or twice in the past and don't recall any bad experiences then, either, so I don't quite understand why there are so many poor reviews. I rarely give one star ratings but I had a bad experience with this restaurant because they overcharged our bill. First of all, why do they do manual calculations instead of doing it electronically? If my friends and I weren't poor college students, we wouldn't have double checked the calculation to find that they charged us $4 for a single egg instead of $2 (which was expensive in the first place for the quality anyway). And this isn't a singular occurrence based on other reviews, and we're the ones who have caught it. I actually liked the overall calm ambiance created by the greenery. But my friends and I all found there to be a strange "old people" smell when we walked in. The wait was long and they only had two people working. I didn't know the blueberries would be inside the pancakes (my mistake though) so I didn't enjoy the taste of warm blueberry in the pancakes. read more

I see the bad reviews and I raise you this: Upon entering the restaurant we were cheerily greeted by the staff. The restaurant was pretty empty so she advised us to seat ourselves, so we chose a spot by the window. She came over promptly and made a pot of decaf for me even thought I told her I'd only have one cup. We got the biscuits and gravy and the steak & eggs. All was delicious. The side of fruit was perfectly ripe. Coffee was good, and overall really fantastic service. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the biscuit was a little dry, but other than that it was all delicious! read more

The bottomless mimosas for $15.99 sold me on coming here in the first place. I had no issue finding street parking (paid). Ambience is super casual and pretty busy but no wait time coming in on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. Waitress provided great customer service and was always on top of refilling mimosas ( I think I had 4??? Can't remember...lol) I had the chicken sandwich served with fries and maaaaan, their fries are goooood! Hot and crisp on the outside. The chicken burger was huuuuge! All of their portions are actually quite generous so you get bang for your bucks. I would definitely return to try other items on the menu. read more

Costa's is one of the only full service, sit down restaurants on the Ave, which is a nice change of pace from the typical order-at-the-counter, seat-yourself style places on the Ave. I've been here twice and have had a decent experience both times. The waiter service was average, nothing great or bad. I ordered the California burrito both times by coincidence and enjoyed them both: extremely flavorful with the right ratio between meat and veggies. I was also surprised by the generous amount of avocado in the burrito, since typically restaurants put a tiny piece of avocado in a dish and call it "California." The value isn't amazing by any means, and I wouldn't call it a "steal" of the Ave, being around $15 with tax and tip for a generous, but not gigantic portion. I usually prefer to pay less than $10 for a meal at a restaurant, but I guess that's the small extra price to pay for sit-down service. I'll be back, but it won't become a regular go-to. read more

There are a lot of dining choices on the university strip, but most look like fast food joints. This diner beckoned me inside with the lure of all day breakfast as well as Greek food. This along with their "sit back and relax" interior sold me. It's a carpeted environment which cuts down on noise. There were large plants everywhere dividing tables into a private oasis. Although slighlty run down, the place still offered me a quiet retreat where I could recharge. I was tempted by the gyros and Greek combo plates, but ultimately decided on one of many choices of Eggs Benedict (Californian, country, Greek, Florentine, etc.) I settled on the Californian which has bacon and avocado. It was okay. The eggs were poached properly, the chunks of avocado could be found in every bite, and the wide slabs of bacon were crispy just like I like, but I regretted not ordering something else. Matter of fact, it didn't leave me wanting to return. I think the hashbrowns with their soggy underside and dishwater taste ruined the meal for me. On the flip side, the wait staff were extremely attentive to my needs. They seated me right away, refilled my soda several times and took care of my bill when I was ready to leave. For the students on campus, I'm sure this place, with its short walking distance from the university, offers a nice, peaceful change in atmosphere. For those with cars, keep driving. read more

Not too busy when I stopped by on a weekend at 10:30am-ish. Lot of vegetarian options on the menu! I got the florentine benedict, really tasty good and huge portion of the hashbrowns on the side! I also got the bottomless mimosas, which were a really great price. It was nice that they allow for not the entire party to get bottomless. I got a couple refills on the mimosas, but I had to ask the waitress for the refills which was kind of annoying as the restaurant got busier. Would go back again! read more

This was by far the worst brunch meal I have ever had in my life - I ordered the crepes and country fried steak with eggs. I love Costas! When I first started coming in, I had a few hiccups. Food didn't come out quick, or I got hashbrowns instead of a fruit bowl. Mistakes happen- and I just didn't hold it against them. I was a pain in the ass too making all of these changes to my meal like add this take this and replace it with this... And child, that's annoying. Stopit. So I chilled out. Had I held those moments against them, I would not have had the experience of trying a few different dishes. I'm a major breakfast food person, and I could eat that all day. The scrambles, omelettes and skillets are fantastic and filling, while the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream made me smile ear to ear from happiness. (No joke- I'm a big girl yes, but it just tastes right with a slight crunch to it.) The Greek salad was refreshing, and guys, the pastas for dinner are pretty amazing. I had a sausage and peppers pasta, and it tasted great! Came with a yummy bread too. Since I gave it all a chance, it's been just an all around great time and I have become a regular with my boyfriend. I look forward to my meals there. Worst brunch experience ever. Came for the bottomless mimosas but the customer service was so bad it's not even worth it. It's been two hours and we have only been "checked on" by our server three times. Both times she spilled our drinks she didn't clean it up, we had to clean it up ourselves. We finished our entire dishes and our server never came over to check in. She checked in with every table around us (literally the two tables next to us) and avoided eye contact. It got to the point where she would check in on a table next to us multiple times without asking if we needed more refill or needed our dishes cleared (we finished eating around an hour ago). I had to go up to the front desk TWICE to ask for more refills. Whenever I asked, we'd get a refill within 5 seconds. She literally has the pitcher on hand. If anyone has recommendations for places with bottomless mimosas around u-district, let me know because this was the worst brunch experience ever. They claim it's bottomless but got 3-4 refills in the span of almost 2.5 hours. Should be noted that we were the only group in the entire establishment that was not white... Was actively ignored for hours, saw four tables around us leave before us. Not because we were taking so long but because we were neglected. We were nothing but nice to her, were patient, and never complained for the lack of attention. The customer service here is just terrible already, and I would avoid at all costs. Server only came by once to take our order and a second time to drop off the food. No coffee refills because server never came around. We were done for at least 15 minutes before we could apprehend the server and ask for the check. I dont blame the servers at all because they're constantly busy. I consider this place a hole in the wall breakfast joint. They open super early (6-7 am) and are usually occupied by older folks enjoying breakfast with friends. I ordered the eggs benedict with hash browns. The eggs benedict was creamy and rich with flavor which went great with their crispy hash browns and a glass of orange juice. Been coming here, infrequently, for awhile. Food can hit the spot (some days better than others), but customer service during busy times is really lacking. Was told "5-10 mins" about 5 mins after walking in. Then, after 10 mins, several other groups walked in and they told us "20-30 mins." The girl was like "who was here first?" after we had clearly been the only ones standing in front of her for the past 10 minutes. Doesn't feel good to be ignored, given false info and have our time wasted. The girls working were busy, and I know what it's like working food service, but this was unacceptable. 1 star for that. 2 more for the generally satisfying food I've had over the years. TLDR: place largely patronized by and run by college students in the Greek system (not to be confused with the Greek fare on the menu). Pretty standard for a family-owned diner, but service sucks on the weekends and is less than good normally. Depends on the sorority girl lol read more
