I've been a regular at Publix in metro Atlanta for decades (Atlantic Station location, mainly) and that never happens to me. I told him that this Publix's layout is flipped from what I'm used to. He smiled and said he gets that a lot. I did get turned around at first, but I was able to easily find everything I was looking for, except for the Red Baron Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza singles (2-packs) which this location and my go-to location were out of at the time. I've also liked to buy them in bulk (12-packs) at Costco. That guy and the two ladies at checkout were very friendly. There were also a couple employees in the produce section that were joking around with each other. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood. This was on a random Tuesday night around 8:30-8:45. Did they all just find out they got unexpected bonuses or something? I had a conversation with the cashiers about the restaurant I'd just eaten at, Kyuramen, in the same shopping center. I brought my leftovers in and had them with me while I shopped. My cashier, Jill, noticed and went out of her way to bag my leftovers for me. How nice of her. This Publix is located in Abernathy Square, the large shopping center at the big intersection of Roswell and Abernathy Roads in Sandy Springs, North Fulton. The reason I came to this location is because it was convenient for me to grab groceries right after dinner. This shopping center was busy, especially when I arrived around 6:30pm, but there was plenty of parking. I ended up settling for a 2-pack of Red Baron Deep Dish Four Cheese Pizza ($4.59) and got a few things I routinely buy at Publix: a large fruit salad ($16.08), Silk Almond Creamer Sweet & Creamy flavor ($5.59), and two cans of Starbucks Premium Instant coffee Medium Roast ($10.79 each). The selection of Starbucks products at this location was better than my normal Publix in Atlantic Station, but I'm pretty sure this Publix is bigger. My wife and I are generally fans of Publix and prefer it over competitors like Kroger and Harris Teeter simply because of Publix's fresher produce and generally higher-quality selection. I also like that you don't have to deal with a membership at Publix because everyone gets the same "automatic" discounts. Publix did launch a membership program, Club Publix, in 2020, but I think its main benefit is digital coupons -- it's not for automatic discounts at the register like Kroger Plus and Harris Teeter VIP, where you have to scan a membership code or enter your phone number. Like the Publix I frequent in Atlantic Station, this Publix also had a police officer stationed inside the front. This one was a Fulton County officer. This location opened in May 1994.

Overall, it's a great neighborhood grocery store with friendly folks, plenty of options and pleasant service. If you're just popping in to grab a few groceries, this Publix will do the trick! Now, let's get into the nitty gritty of this Publix. I've recently been able to try their food, and there are definitely some highlights. The best thing in my opinion about this Publix is their deli and their sub station. They make their subs with Boars Head deli meat on long loafs of bread. At Jersey Mike's, I can get a giant Italian sub for $18. At Publix, a similar sub costs me only $8, with only a minimal downgrade in the quality department. I'll be back at Publix for a future sub. Another cheap option here is the hot bar. The popular items are the fried chicken tenders and the wings. I can get a chicken tender meal with two sides for just over $9. I think it's a pretty good deal. Although cheap, the chicken tenders are nowhere near the best, in fact, they are typically dry from sitting out. Their sides aren't all that impressive either, and they never seem to have the potato wedges. It's a mistake going into the hot bar with super high expectations. Your goal should be to get a decent meal at a bargain, and if you think this way, then you will always feel like a winner! This Publix also has a bakery, which is easy to become fixated on, as it's one of the first things you see as you walk in. Their cookies and cakes are delicious. Their doughnuts and some of their other pastries have been hit-or-miss. Going through all the desserts is like entering the lottery, you might come out with a winner, or with a dud. Lastly, compared to other Publix's in the area, this one seems a little more cramped, and not as bright. However, I've never had one bad experience with the customer service. All attendants are friendly and helpful, which is why I will continue to shop and eat here, for as long as I live close.

There's just a different energy at this location, and it's something I've consistently noticed over the years. Of course, the parking can be a little interesting at times. It gets busy, people are trying to navigate the lot, and every now and then it feels like everyone forgot how to drive for a minute. But honestly, that's the least of my concerns. The parking is free, and once I'm inside, the experience more than makes up for any extra few minutes it might take to find a space. What keeps me coming back is the hospitality. Shopping for groceries may seem like a routine errand, but the people here make it feel a little more enjoyable every time. It's the kind of place where employees are happy to answer questions, help you find what you're looking for, and make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. I'll happily drive a little farther for that kind of experience. Great customer service is hard to beat, and this Trader Joe's continues to get it right.

They are fast for the purpose of stealing your money, so people need to take their time and check their receipt when they are buying a lot. I think when buying a lot is when the thieving cashiers strike. I got there at 7pm and my total was $277.81, it was more than I usually get, I even asked the lady that it seems some things were scanned twice but she said no, only to get home and found out the added charge. They have no phone number on the receipt and the one I called directed me to online. I'm never leaving the store again without checking my receipt no matter how large the groceries is and what time it is. Those are the two factors the cashier took advantage of.

The line moves fairly quickly but expect to wait about 5-10 minute total before getting to the pump. The station does have long pump lines which means it will stretch to either side of the car so you can choose any lane; you don't have to choose a lane that has the pump on the same side as your gas tank. I usually find it worth the wait since the gas is cheaper than other stations nearby.

Costco always offers the finest quality products at the best possible price. Their fuel is no exception. This Costco location on Peachtree Dunwoody road is excellent. It's close to the GA 400. The traffic layout of the parking lot around the gas area leaves a lot of room to be desired.
