Okay. Here's the thing: Having not been a Costco member for a number of years, I may very well be in my honeymoon phase. This particular Costco may not be the best Costco of all the Costcos... the parking may not be optimal... but when you've been free of the access to deals, gratuitous samples, and packages of more freshly-baked goods than any one person should be purchasing at one time for so long, it can send you into a tizzy.
More contributing factors:
- This location is 7 minutes from home. SEVEN MINUTES to cheaper than usual gas and excellent dinner options that save me time and cleanup (I'm looking at you, stuffed peppers, salmon with basic butter, handy vats of chicken noodle soup, barrels of wings, and cilantro-lime shrimp)? Yes, please.
- My last warehouse membership was with BJ's, where I found the service and products paled in comparison. I mean, the place IS called BJ's so... yeah.
- Colder weather is coming, and I'm a sucker for a cheap DKNY sweater... which this place will often have awaiting me on a table in the center of the store.
- When my monitor crapped out on me, I found a fantastic replacement (a 24" LG) for less than I was finding refurbished models online.
- The pharmacy here carries some of the pet medications that Banfield doesn't keep on hand for The Dutchess Lola Von SassyPants... and they will sell them to me cheap (and save me fromhaving to await them by mail).
But THIS is the biggie, and why I've taken the time to review:
The Mister is a terminal glasses-adjuster. I don't know anybody who seeks out a place to get glasses tweaked as often as my hubby. If we haven't been to every LensCrafters on the Eastern seaboard, I'd be surprised. That said, he needed an adjustment like whoa, and after a terrible experience at LensCrafters in the mall (1 person working, couldn't be bothered with a customer) as well as the VisionWorks there (nice girl, but she wiggled the frame and accomplished nothing), he was at the end of his rope. With little hope, we sauntered over to the folks at the optical counter in Costco, and he proceeded to get one of the better, and more attentive adjustments he'd received in a long time on two pairs of glasses. Not only did the Doc get it done, but he explained exactly what the issue had been, how he remedied it, and offered that if an issue were to persist in the coming days, the Mister should come back for a more aggressive adjustment.
A happy husband makes for a better day... so, four stars until I have a reason to say otherwise. read more
