This has to be the best Costco on the island. The parking lot can be crazy because they share it with other businesses but If you ever need something that you can't find at other Costco's they most likely have it here. They layout is pretty easy to navigate and the service is the best. If you are interested in wine, these guys have the best selection and great prices. The fruits and vegetables are always plentiful and fresh. The server's providing the free samples are so sweet and always encouraging people to try what they are cooking. Really helps if you are wanting to try a new product. This Costco everything is always so organized and neat. The place is spotless. What I like best is the service. The team here is truly the friendliest and most helpful. Customers service is hard but these guys make it look easy. Thank you for running such an amazing operation. read more

we shop weekly at Costco and we like to support local. We've been purchasing lemons and limes from Costco Hawaii Kai for a while now. Limes were $2.99/bag and lemons $4.99/bag and we never came across a single bad fruit in the bags. A few months ago, Costco switched to lemons and limes grown in Maui. The price nearly doubled but we were happy to support locally grown until we brought home bag after bag of spoilt, squishy limes and lemons. We voiced our to at least two different managers but nothing has been done regarding quality control. Even today, we had to sort through the bags to find one without very soft lemons and limes. Please have better quality control if you're charging customers double what we used to pay for excellent limes and lemons. Locally grown is great but make sure they're not rotten produce. read more

Great up going here all the time with my mom since we lived about 5 min away! Now it's about 20 min away but still enjoy going to get massive amounts of toilet paper and paper towels (this is the only kind my mom will buy and she is very picky about her paper products). We always loved to see the "Yee haw lady" who used to give out samples. They were my favorite part of the Costco experience but now it's tied with the self checkout (love cashiering!). And of course, we love the food court. My mom's favorite ice cream bar with almonds is no longer there and she is sad, but Taylor loves the pizza and the hot dog/drink deal is still the best! Such a relaxed atmosphere here in HK compared to Iwilei. So much parking and no long lines at the cashier. There's a little less product in HK, but, the experience makes up for that. read more

As far as price, quantity and selection, Costco is a value. This location seems less hectic and the crowd flows better here. Good monitoring of the cashier lines, too. Another overall plus is the self-check out. It's made such a difference during check out. read more

1/22/24 @ 1830. Raced to this location after work to pick up the Lego Auspicious Dragon, which had discovered came in yesterday. I circled the store a few times but I could not find it. I asked an associate, Ryan, and he immediately knew what I was talking about. It turns out, there were only two left. He asked if I were either collecting it or planning to save the box because he made sure I got the one with a box that was not crushed! We even got to talking about other special Lego sets since he was a fan of Back to the Future collectibles. I really appreciated that he made sure I got a set in good condition. Visited this Costco location on a Tuesday afternoon. Wasn't busy at all. Barely anyone was there. They had everything that almost all costcos offer. Nothing too special stood out. If you're a tourist, grab all your Hawaiian chocolate snacks here. And don't forget the big jar of island bees honey to take back with you! It's the best honey and only Costco offers the huge jar for such a good price. Bathrooms were clean Parking was easy to find. read more

This isn't far behind, but at least you can park on the City Mill side & walk to save some sanity. The employees are always nice, polite, & sometimes unbelievably happy! Insert thinking emoji here. Really?? Happy to work in a crowded Costcotopia?? Ehhh!! Almost every employee I make eye contact with is smiling! Some are joking around with other employees and/or customers. Insert startled jaw dropped emoji here. I don't remember seeing that at the other Costcotopias before. There are a bunch of stuff we get from what's in the coupon ad book for the next month that comes in the mail. Of course, when you buy something one month it goes on sale the next month. Doh!! Insert smacking forehead emoji here. Ehh, one of the cashiers said to wait for the next ad to come out before buying from the previous ad. Hawaii's Costco is the best! This is the best place for tourists to buy local Hawaiian snacks for souvenirs. I found food items that I couldn't find at my local Costco at home. The sushi and sashimi are very fresh and delicious. My biggest favorite find is a massive bag of shrimp chips. This is the place to buy chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Also, gasoline at Costco is the cheapest on the island. Beware that lines can be very long. read more

The only thing we can say about Costco is WE LOVE THEM! We shop there every week and buy every drop of gas at their station.

Due to geographical limitations, we've always frequented Costco's competitor in town. I figured, they're basically the same thing, right? Wrong. I'm thankful for a family member recently getting a membership to Costco, where we've discovered all the things that makes this place great. This location is in Hawaii-Kai on the Ewa side of the pond. They have ample parking that's shared with Ross and others stores and restaurants in the mini-mall. Outside is a stand for pizza and ice cream, be sure to note this is cash or debit only. Inside is the entry with membership desks, car deals, and other promotional items. Inside is the main warehouse store. They have everything in bulk at low prices. Frozen foods, produce, boxed food are around the outside and the back; books, clothing, toys, furniture, and sports equipment are in the center. You never know what goodies you'll find; it's hard for us to make it out without buying more than we planned. Restrooms are in the front. The checkout area is large and spread out, plenty of space to social distance. Workers here do your scanning for you, they're fast and efficient. Employees were also friendly and helpful, it made for a personal and pleasant experience. Crowds are easier here than the Iwelei location, but there is no gas station here either. read more

I'm sorry, Costco. I'm sorry for breaking up with you after being with you for so many years since the beginning 26 years ago. It's not you, it's me. But I'm back now. I even got the Executive Membership to show you my commitment! I can't imagine how to explain the happiness I feel to be back here at Costco. It's very convenient to shop here at the Hawaii Kai Towne Center, it has excellent monthly sales, and it has pretty much everything I need for my household. I can't begin to tell you about Costco's excellent return policy lol. But I'm usually satisfied. Oh yes, how can I forget that samples! Costco has so much samples, and employees who actually know how to prepare them. This Costco does get crazy busy at times, so parking is definitely a battle, and maneuvering around shopping carts and shoppers gets tight, but I actually enjoy it lol (sorry to the people I cut off with my cart, btw). The checkout lines get super long, but thankfully the staff here are quick to open up additional lines and all the cashiers are pretty quick to scan. The store is always clean, organized, and well-stocked. What's also good is Costco's own brand, Kirkland. Most people think the store's own brand, which are cheaper, are lower quality and not as trustworthy as the more common and more expensive brand names. Costco uses other brand name companies to produce their products, so you're getting the same high-quality product that's just using the Kirkland name. My parents bought a washer that was Kirkland Signature, and under the logo said "by Whirlpool," and crazy enough, that washer is still being used today for over 18 years. Hopefully I haven't jinxed it. The only bad thing about this is that Costco lacks variety. Costco has always been good, if not great. I wish I kept the Costco membership, or should've demanded my employer to provide me with Costco membership too! But I'm happy to be back. Same great Costco prices, less people. This location is great for a break from the Kalihi location which is closer to me. Its a nice 15-20 minute drive if traffic is light. There's much more in the mall where its located as per stores and site and parking was especially better. The bestest part about the Hawaii Kai location is the crowds. There is none. Honestly, like each cashier lane has two maybe three customers max as opposed to the 20 per line in Kalihi backing up into the aisles. First person I encountered that was not very nice . We only had few things in our cart mostly laundry stuff we didn't put on the counter during checkout. This guy La'a was kinda ticked off because we're supposed to position for easy scanning, I said sorry under my breath. First time I encountered a Costco worker that was not Akamai. Some people go to the closest Costco but some go to the most convenient. For years I've been going to the most convenient because it fit into my schedule and I could get some grocery shopping done between client meetings. That "convenient" Costco is the one in Iwilei. We all know about the packed parking lot, busy warehouse and crazy cashier lines. Not to mention the Food Court is ridiculously busy there too. To come here, you have to account for that. Still I would suffer and go through all that because it was "convenient" for me. Nowadays I have to be wiser with my time so I go to the closest Costco which is the one in Hawaii Kai. After a few visits, I didn't know why I kept going to the Iwilei location. This Costco is AMAZING! There is always parking, the warehouse is busy but not packed and the cashier lines are almost nonexistent! So much time saved in a day! The staff here is very friendly and they have time to help you as they aren't overworked like the Iwilei location. We can also pick up Starbucks near this location and run errands if needed to inside the strip mall. Best Costco on the island IMO! read more

Costco has really become part of my lifestyle now. What I mean is that I usually get all of my food and household supplies from Costco. If and when Costco is out of stock of a particular item that I regularly purchase, the pain is real to see the prices other retailers charge for the same products. They have now added self check out kiosks at this Hi Kai Costco so running in to purchase one or two items no longer require getting in line behind another shopper with a cart overflowing with items. You can go in and get out in a reasonable time period. The staff at this Costco is typically and genuinely friendly and helpful. Item's are well stocked and the store is kept clean and pleasant to shop here. read more

Cashier's name was Diedra. My gf and I are both cosco members. I left my cosco card in the car so my gf gave hers. Diedra demanded she hand over a picture ID with her cosco card; rude and short. After confirming it was her, I went to pay and she said she'd need my card too, which I explained I didn't have it. She said my gf had to pay in this case. Again, rude and short. Super nice manger-type guy came up to save the day--grabbed my ID and confirmed on the computer that I had a membership and that it was up to date. Good, let's move on. No, Diedra finds that something has lapsed on my card. This bit isn't clear because she's not actually telling me what the issue is--she just won't let me pay for the groceries, and you can bet she was rude and short about it. Manager-type guy is uncomfortable. He suggests if he could prove we live together I can pay for the groceries. Appreciate his effort, but at this point I'm thinking "whatever," my gf and I will go put some of the stuff back, maybe a get a few smaller items since we can't tackle the payment the way we planned. Guess again, Diedra won't let me take the cart. She's physically grabbing the cart, tugging it against my pulling it away. Unreal. Ended up buying a few things with the cash we had on us and driving to Times to get everything else. Don't be like Diedra. read more

Hawaii Kai Costco seems to be less crowded then the Dillingham location. But, I usually get lucky parking anywhere so... decided to shop here since a friend requested it. As is our tradition, we always stop by this Costco for sweet treats to bring back home...and also for a bit of nostalgia. Located in the Hawaii Kai Towne Center, it is very accessible by public transportation (The Bus) as we chose not to utilize a car on this particular trip. Shopping at a Costco in Hawaii is very different than on the mainland because of all the local snacks/food/Hawaiian goods that they offer. It's a good thing that the airlines limits your personal effects because I would be the one to go over the limit...EVERYTIME. I don't know if it's the day/time that we went (Monday, around 11am) but we could actually cruise the aisles carefully and take our time, all while decided how and what would be the most efficient items to pack (spacewise and moneywise haha). Needless to say, we found most of our foodie gifts here. There are certain items that stood out to me like the fresh flower leis and the myriad of fresh + frozen Hawaiian food items like Portuguese sausage, lau lau and poke. LOVE their precautions they're taking due to COVID. It's not crazy ridiculous rules but it's not lax either. I did recently learn that if you want to keep items in your cart [so you do not need to have your items touch the belt that everyone touches] you can only have up to 10 items. Anything more, they'll ask you to put it in the belt... UNLESS you tell them due to COVID and medical reasons, I'd like to keep the items in the cart. Then you're good to go. HOWEVER, you really should face all the barcodes out and up for them. read more

LOL Anywho this time it was a good one for me. I got me some storage shelves for $99.00. We have a shed and needed a couple of shelves. This worked out perfectly. We also scored on some entry mat's for the back porch and it was $3 off. Not bad. Parking can be humbug if you have a big truck like me but you just have to be a little patient. We do come here to get tires for my truck whenever we need new ones. I just wished they had more of the same items as Iwelei or better yet Kapolei. They did have the electric scooter. This Costco may be far, but I choose to shop here because it is the BEST one on the island in my opinion: -the parking lot is never chaotic and I can always find a stall quickly and near by - it never gets CRAZY crowded - both the shoppers and workers are pleasant -they are always stocked with the things I need/want - sampling here is a civil, pleasant experience without people hoarding or cutting in line In fact, the reason I decided to write this review is because I went to Iwalei Costco today and it was crowded, frustrating parking, and people were so rude (not the workers). On August 31, 2023 at approximately 3:30pm, a rude male worker yanked back our cart as my husband pushed it out of the exit door After he drew a check mark on our receipt. Upon analyzing the situation at home, I assume that the worker only marked the receipt but cannot see what was in the cart due to his height and distant from the cart. The worker had a very bad attitude and said that he wasn't done with the cart yet. Why did he mark our receipt without checking the cart in the first place? Most importantly, if my husband wasn't holding on to the cart, the cart would have hit me as he yanked it towards my direction. read more

We had a great experience at the Hawaii kai Costco Optical dept. Leah Vogt helped me and my son with his glasses purchase. She was very helpful, patient and friendly. We purchased the glasses frame a couple of days prior to make sure we have it but my son didn't have his prescription yet. When we went back with the prescription she remembered us and our situation. Without asking she did a frame return and repurchase with lens. That way it is easier to submit to insurance which I was going to ask her but she already was working on it. Hawaii Kai Costco is my second favorite location next to Kapolei. They are not as crowded as other locations, and the parking is not bad at all. However I see some items being out of stcok and they do not have the gas stand is a bummer. The food court is outside, which I have a mixed feeling for. It is nice to have outside that way it can spread the crowd but I don't really wanna use the condiments and stuff for hygenic reason. Employees are mostly nice too just like any other Costco but there are always a few bitchy ones. One girl named Nicole was giving such a hard time to the customers in front of us unnecessarily and she held the line for a long time. read more

"A big box doing it right" Over the years Costco has proven to be a consistent and reliable warehouse style retailer with great customer service. I have had an opportunity over the years to visit all the Costco stores in state of Hawaii and all provide good service in all facets of their operations. From the food counter service to the optical services and all the services in between, we have never really had bad service, sometimes a little slower than we had wanted but never unreasonable. A problem with something purchased? They have the most liberal return policy and will take back items, no questions asked. There is a time limit for electronic items but more than enough time to try something out to see if it is acceptable. Plus- if you purchase with the Costco credit card, you get an additional year of warranty for most of these items. Yes, there have been "hiccups" but Costco is quick to correct mistakes to the customer's satisfaction. I have never seen a Costco employee badger or show disrespect to a customer. Would like to give a special shout out to both the optical and photo center employees at Hawaii Kai. They are the most patient and understanding people on the planet and this Hawaii Kai location is the one that stands out above the rest. The other locations are great but Hawaii Kai is the best in all my years of going to Costco. Costco Hawaii Kai is "No Ka 'Oi" in My book. read more

This is the best Costco on the island by far. It's not too crowded, lots of parking close to the store and they have ample availability on their products. Even during the worst of COVID, whenever I found disinfectant wipes or other high demand items, it was almost always at this location. I've already convinced a few of my "town" friends to skip Iwilei and come here instead. Most of the workers here are pleasant and the lines move pretty quickly. I usually don't spend more than 30 minutes in this store, I'm in and out! read more
