Bought a package of thin cut rib eye steaks today. Got home and took them out of package to get them ready to bbq. Just under 4 lbs and 9 pieces. All but one of them were brown on the bottom. The brown was hidden by turning that side toward the foam tray and overlapping the steaks to cover it up. The one good one was the one on top and you could see entire piece. There are a few things that make this Costco location different and in my opinion better than the others on Oahu. First of all, the food court/concession is in door. You can eat in the air conditioning, and without birds flying around (like the other locations.) Secondly, Kapolei Costco has a sushi station. I believe it's called Snow Fox. The sushi is decent for the cost. They have a variety of individual rolls ($8-$16), nigiri platters and mixed platters ($26-$36). Those are great for potluck contributions. This location also has a self check out area, located to the far left of the regular check out. This really helps to alleviate the long lines. I have used it a few times, and have never waited in a line longer than 2, for self check out. I wanted to rate this costco as 4 1/2 stars, but rounded up to 5. There were a few times I had stopped over to get gas, and the card reader was unable to read my costco card. It was strange because the Waipio costco read that same card just fine. This has happened to me at least 3 times, particularly on the same gas pump (towards the furthest left lane.) I even asked to borrow a costco card from the member infront of me. Aside from that, Kapolei Costco is my favorite because of the sushi station, indoor concession, self check out and multiple entrances/exits (4 all together.) read more

The location is great, the store is nice. What I am tired of is the bullying when I check out. I'm constantly asked and (your employees will not back down) about switching to an executive membership. We had an executive membership and lately we saw we were not shopping at Costco as much and paying over $60 to renew that membership. The only benefit is the cash back to my knowledge . So after politely declining and explaining why ( which one should not need to do) multiple times, and I get a bit aggressive with my decline. I'm looked at as rude and an ashore. I'm not there to wheel and deal any type of deal. I'm there to shop, pay, and leave. I as others have mentioned am starting to look towards Sam's club. Costco's in Hawaii SUCK. They are overcrowded and understaffed. With that said, it's Costco! They are leaps and bounds above the alternative. The locations on Oahu are just different enough that you can get some variety between them. The food courts are always packed. Samples? Like paper plates, paper bowls, forks, spoons and napkins. They also have PARTY FOOD! Where you just may have to either set it up nicely, cook it for a few minutes or the better part, already made and you just gotta eat it. The variety is awesome! Except it's already been twice that I really loved something and then POOF! It's gone to never return. I asked why and I uh forgot the answers ‍ but that's ok. I don't go to Kapolei or anywhere on the Leeward Side of Oahu very often, but there is generally plenty of parking even during its most crowded times. It's definitely helpful to buy in bulk and save money. Lots of good items from food to office supplies to kitchen and bathroom supplies. The gas station's lines get really long if you go in the middle of the day, but the prices are so much better than the other nearby stations. It really does help to have a Costco membership and I think it has paid off for me in the long run. read more

Did my shopping in 20 min so loaded up and dropped back off at park where we having a party. Drove back and at counter at 12:41. Paid. Then they yell "phone order!" I had to get all four tires of my 4runner replaced, and my brother recommended Costco in Kapolei. I've gone there before, to pick up car batteries, and the employees at the car battery/tire have always been helpful, so decided to have my tires changed there too. Nathaniel was very patient with my questions, and informative, which I very much appreciated. While some people would or may roll their eyes at people's lack of knowledge relating to tires (I know, I know, I should have Googled), Nathaniel calmly answered my questions, and provided great customer service. Did enter into "The Twilight Zone"? It was about 2:00PM when we drove to this Costco and readily found a parking space near the entrance. There were so many parking spaces available with NONE of the "usual" crazy drivers that we normally experience at the Iwilei branch. As we approached the entrance, there were rows of shopping carts that looked brand-new (hardly any dings, clean and complete with 4 functioning wheels). Our amazement was furthered as we entered into a relatively quiet and empty store. We zipped down the main aisle to pick up our groceries then went to check out within 20 minutes. There many cashiers on duty and each line was no longer than 4 people! Whaaat? We couldn't believe it. There were more people dining at the Food Court than in line. We noticed that the layout of this store is more like those that we've been to on the Mainland where the Food Court is located within the store and customers have access to the automotive services from the store rather than having to exit and go around. Our reality check was our bill as it hit the $100 mark, it's rare to shop in a warehouse-type store and come out with less than $100 worth of items. But, we got to use our new Costco Visa credit card as their contract with American Express expired. With our dream sequence complete, we drove home happy from spending most of the day out in Kapolei and have plans to return soon. read more

We made it a point to drive out to this branch of Costco every chance we got because it was always a much more pleasant experience than shopping at the crazy Iwilei branch in town. There's always much less people shopping in the store and it's easier to find a parking stall in their large lot. Our family loves shopping at Costco whether it be to stock up on everyday essentials and groceries such as their Charmin toilet paper, Lysol Antibacterial Wipes and multi-vitamins as well as their Bounty select-a-size paper towels, Kleenex tissues, seasoned rotisserie chicken or bbq pork ribs. They also sell other fun items such as Michael Kors watches and handbags, bebe sunglasses, fresh flowers and infant car seats. They have almost every department and every individual's needs covered...and IN BULK at great prices. And if you come the right time of day and right day of the week, they offer wonderful samples free of charge! I've had a multitude of things from samples from their Keurig coffeemakers and Sodastream contraptions to their sausage and hams from their meat department to their Jelly Belly jelly beans, roasted and seasoned seaweed over hot white rice and popcornopolis multi-flavors. Costco also sends out these great coupon mailers every month with the latest sale items, which drives people in hoards to come back and shop even more. Sure you just bought and are fully stocked up on Charmin toilet paper and Lysol Antibacterial Wipes to the gills, but they're on sale this month and how often do they ever go on sale? Well just to be sure and take advantage of their sale, we must go back and buy some because you never know when they'll go on sale again. Of course people especially LOVE their excellent return policy. Apparently people return EVERYTHING under the sun and are able to get their money back. I know this for a fact because I've seen them do it. You see them standing in line with their old produce and opened boxes of food and products that they're unsatisfied with. I don't know how people do it. I know that I've definitely had my share of mold on fresh clementine boxes I had just purchased from them and burnt batches of newly opened boxes of Wheat Thins, but I'm too embarrassed to even try to take them back. I guess to me I feel it's not even worth the time or effort. Anyway, you get it. They are great on returns, which is yet another reason people keep coming back. And how can you forget their $1.50 polish dog and soda combo. What a great deal. Not sure how I feel about this warehouse after today. We're loyal customers and visit this location at least twice a week. That being said, I never realized there's a dress code for customers. We decided to stop in for some last minute things on our way home from the beach and were turned away. After it took us fifteen minutes to find a parking spot, the two ladies at the front said we weren't allowed in until my son and wife were wearing a shirt. My 7 year old son left his shirt at the beach and while his being shirtless is understandable, my wife was wearing shorts over a one piece, striped bathing suit. Nothing about the suit was revealing and we wonder if she would've been turned away had she been wearing a cotton tank top. I do not recall ever seeing a dress code sign at the front and maybe it's our mistake, but this seems like Quaker prudish for a company that's so customer driven. read more

Although this location does have its busy moments, it doesn't seem like claustraphobic and you are not irritated. From fresh food to dry goods, the selection is great as well as the prices. My new fave from Costco's? The rotisserie chicken is THE bomb diggity especially if you consume it with hot rice and shoyu! Although their inside snack bar is a better than having it outside, it's unfortunate that it is not separated like Sam's Club. It would create less congestion when everyone is trying to manuever to the exit after check out. Nevertheless, I prefer this location over the other Costco locations on Oahu. read more

Always a fan of this Costco and its gas station! I live in Ewa so it's just a hop, skip, and a jump for me to drive here to fill up. The amount I save to fill up my tank far outweighs the amount I use in gas to drive here. There is usually never a line and if there is, it doesn't last long. The lines are not near as long as the other Costco gas stations either! I have never had a problem here...except when I came to get gas on Easter and they were closed. If you're staying at Disney's Aulani resort in Ko Olina, this Costco is just about 10 minutes away. We stopped by here immediately after our flight into HNL and after renting a minivan. I'm glad we went here before arriving at the resort, because once we got there, we didn't want to leave for a few days ;) We stocked up on fresh fruit, milk, Hawaiian sweet rolls, cheese, drinks and snacks for our weeklong stay. Aulani villas come with a full-sized kitchen with a ton of amenities, so we felt right at home after filling up the fridge and counters with some pantry basics from this Costco. Hawaiian Costco locations like this one also have a great selection of Hawaiian apparel (men's shirts, ladies' sarongs, casual t-shirts), tour guides, and souvenirs, so remember Costco before buying at the airport or at tourist-laden souvenir shops. Funny story about this location... I was obviously struggling with a full cart and loading four kids into our van in the parking lot when I felt that funny feeling you get when someone is watching you. At first glance I noticed a pretty well built, bald, Polynesian male heading looking and walking in my direction. In the business of the moment, I felt a slight bit of fight or flight syndrome in the back of my head thinking to myself "should I jump in the van and get us out of here?" Almost instinctively I looked back in his direction to make sure we were okay when I was confronted with the most alarming and unexpected weapons of choice... a SMILE. In that moment I finally realized this guy was a Costco employee. He was what can only be described as "super cool" saying "No worries, I have kids to I understand" helping me load all my purchases into my van while I manage getting the little ones buckled into their car seats. It was so odd, yet refreshing and surprising that I couldn't help but want to offer him a tip for helping out. Unfortunately he humbly said "Sorry, we are not allowed to accept gratuities but I appreciate your offer." Who does that? I have never had a bad experience at this Costco. Stopped by Costco to grab a few grocery items. Unexpected shopping trip since we were in the area. Didn't have my membership card, but my husband had his on hand. When we went to pay, attempted to use my debit card, but the cashier named Shayne said card payment needed to be made by mem card holder. So I said I'm the Primary, but didn't bring my card as I didn't plan to visit Costco today. So I took my cash out and handed it to my husband who did bring his card. SHAYNE said payment needs to come from person who has the card. Really?!?! She looked flustered to begin with. I felt she could have just approached the situation better. Usually all the workers are very pleasant and cheerful. Won't be going to her line in the future. On a better note... my husband needed to update his costco card with his photo. This is a very nice Costco...as Costco's go. It's in the newer part of Kapolei over by Target and Home Depot, and it has the largest, most welcoming parking lot out of all Costco's and Sam's Clubs in Hawaii. Almost solely for that reason, I'm giving them my coveted '5-Star' ranking! Sure, call me simple, but most of these membership clubs are cookie-cut replicas of themselves, so not much unique to talk about. They sold Christmas Trees out front this year, but there was only one type, one size of tree...so nothing special there. They have the requisite hot dog/pizza stand, but it is indoors. They have lots of cash registers, but like other Costco's, never all open at the same time. Actually, here's one other thing I really like about this Costco - their Fresh section. From the bakery to the meats to the produce to the deli, these sections seem larger with a better selection than most other membership clubs here. OK, I'm not that shallow. Yay me! read more

There are always plenty of parking, not like the Iwilei location. Besides Costco, there are other shops and restaurants around the area. You can go to Kapolei Commons or Kamakana Alii. I use to have sams club but waited for it to expired and went to Costco being that it's literally 5 mins from where I live. Also I had to stop at the food court and get me a chicken bake and a soda, ever since my husband brought one and I tried it, I had to get me one. Finally made it out to the Costco in Kapolei and was not disappointed. The gas out there was about a dime cheaper than the oh-so-popular Iwilei store, and the lines were maybe a third as long. Interestingly, their food court is inside the store, so not accessible to non-members who just happen by. Other than that, this is a big, roomy, well-stocked store. Costco is always about value, not hand-holding customer service, so expect to do a lot of wandering around looking for what you want, but if you're looking for good deals on everything from shoes to boogie boards, this is a great place to be. read more

I love this Costco! I like how Costco has large parking stalls. I don't usually load up my wagon like most people do in the beginning of the month. I just go to get things that I need for the week. So instead of loading everything in my trunk I just put them in back seat and with those large stalls I can maneuver my wagon to the side of my car without worrying about hitting the car next to me or inconveniencing anyone from getting in or out of their cars. This Costco doesn't seem as hectic as the other ones. Except maybe for the beginning of the month when everyone all of a sudden has money to spend...hmmmm...I wonder why? I used to like when Costco had an earlier time for business or executive members to come in before everyone else. Now everyone comes in at the same time! I also like that the food court is inside. It doesn't get crazy when you just want to get a bite to eat after shopping or if you're just too lazy to make dinner because you can't go wrong with a whole pizza for $10. On that note, I like coming here to pick up quick meals for those nights that you just don't know what to make for dinner. Whole rotisserie chicken for $6, pre-made meals that you heat and serve, salads, sandwiches, poke and more! Being a business executive member, I get back 2% of purchases!
