First off, I love Costco. On the mainland and here. It's nice to see economies of scales put an end to the predatory practice of local grocery stores. But the employees at the door here are horribly aggressive when checking for membership. I've been to Costco hundreds of times in my life and have never been demanded to show proof. After I showed the woman, I let her know that you don't need a membership to buy alcohol so why check. She told me those people are escorted. The set up of this Costco was a little weird. It doesn't have the circular flow of the others so the traffic entering the store collides with the traffic going to the check outs. It still has the same basics as all the other Costcos. Got a Caesar salad from the deli section and some liquor. All good. read more

I shop more often at Sam's but we were on this side of town and decided to stop by. As always nice selection of things from household, out door, to food. I love that Costco offers bundle packages of gift cards and things like that. I find Costco's produce looks a tad bit more appealing than Sam's. The layout is also a whole lot better, compared to pearl city Sam's. It's a tight fit frenzy in their produce/dairy area. We bought our pups a new bed (50$) and some toys(10$), a 6x9 floor rug (49$) that was around 20$ off, and a hallway runner (10$), so I would say it's a good deal for the quality of the products. I must come here at least 3 times a week. From groceries, household goods and gas, it's a good one stop shop!

Only recently I started going to the Kapolei location, since there is Target and other stores I like going in the nearby area. There is plenty of parking available. The store is well stocked with water, paper towels, and popular food options. I was looking for the sparkling ICE drinks, but they had no supply, must of sold out. They had a few weeks before. The food court is inside of warehouse, after the check out. You can order at the counter or use one of monitors to order, pick up once order ready. I like how the gas fill stations are the back side of warehouse. Plenty of room for cars waiting to fill up and no is blocking those cars trying to get out of the parking lot. It is a problem at the Waipio location during the peak times and weekends. read more

Love shopping at Costco. I always end up buying a cart load of not needed things. I came across the Shredded Dried Pork. It's made in Canada. I came home and tried it. It taste so good. The dried jackfruit was good but a like sweet for me. I noticed when I eat too much of the jackfruit it made me cough like crazy and non-stop. Noodles was ok. Cheddar bacon crisp is very addicting but we cannot find them anymore. read more

I happen to live right in the middle of Waipio Costco and Kapolei Costco. I usually go Kapolei because the parking is better and easier access in general. We haven't been here in a few months and was surprised to see pallets stacked at the store entrance up to direct incoming shoppers. Probably because the opening time is chaotic (I heard 100 deep). Then there are employees who wipe the handles down on the carts before you go in. Everyone bee-lined to the far back corner to look for paper goods. Nothing except baby diapers. Had choke bottled water (which we don't buy cuz we have filters). I like buying meat here and freeze them with FoodSaver. Good quality meat at decent prices. Today they were low on canned good like soup, chili etc. Only had vienna sausage. Low on pasta but choke pasta sauce. Good place to buy bulk beef jerky and nuts. That's true apocalypse survival food imo. It was still kinda busy this time of night but I'm still glad we shopped vs prime time crowds people throwing blows over TP. WEST side Costco Most Costco's have the same or a similar layout. The Kapolei Costco follows this same mantra: fruit and vegetables side by side, bakery in the rear, the alcohol within reach of the those items. However, there was one aspect I found absolutely remarkable: Self check out stations!! I don't know why but I found such joy when I clapped eyes on these machines of convenience. I imagine this arrangement is ideal if one has only one or a few items. Besides the self check out stations, this Costco has the requisite: Gas station Bakery Photo Center Pharmacy Tire Service Center and the all important: Food Court As usual, service is friendly, helpful, quick and efficient. BOTTOM LINE: An agreeable location for residents of West Oahu. Self check out stations are quite convenient! read more

One thing with this Costco is they are not consistent. When checking out one worker said to put the bar codes facing up for an easier check out and leave items in your cart. So we have been doing that, next time we go we get stink eye while they grab the items from the cart to put on the belt. When I ask they say every cashier is different...um, ok but why? Especially in a pandemic I don't need your germs hands all over my items. So now everything goes on the belt...I'd put a surf board on there if it could fit! Need to buy things in bulk? Costco is the place to go! You get things in bulk for a cheaper price rather than shopping at grocery stores. I love it when Costco has seasonal items, they always have cool things. Especially during Christmas time. I recently got a desk ring light mirror that i absolutely love. This Costco is located in Kapolei across from the court house and Outback Steakhouse. Be prepared when you go on weekends, it's a mad house!!! All day long... we usually take someone to jump out and shop and the other person goes to find parking or park on the side until the other comes out. So I want to start off by saying, after doing some observations and taking the time to observe, I do believe I was racially profiled. As I was exiting after checking out and you know how you have the person checking your receipts and marking it that you purchased. The guy at the door actually counted out my items and notice that one item was not scanned out. I did not have more than 10 items nor did I have 2 items. At first I'm like "oh he is doing is job, actually looking and counting and marking appropriately." I had to step on the side and have a worker scan out my item. But as I'm on the side, I see this guy is not doing that anymore. He looks and marks.. there were a few people with lots of stuff, a few stuff, and someone just like me... Why did he count mines out loud when I got there?? I got rung out and left and park myself right in front to watch 15 minutes if anyone else got the treatment.... Nope, as your typical Costco person look and check... I am a young black woman wearing a baseball cap. Do I think racially profile?? At this point yes.. The Kapolei site is exactly as crowded as the other, but owing to the broader layout, it is simpler to park and access the gas station. It doesn't matter whether it's the middle of the week or the weekend; I can usually locate parking...especially since I don't mind walking. They give out complimentary sweets, but I can't say that I've ever taken advantage of that offer since they just have samples. read more

ULTIMATE FAIL...this review is for the new self check out lines and the food prep/cook(s) in the food court. N I dont normally give bad reviews but dang How many times does it take to make a half cheese and half supreme (combo) pizza...da world will neva know well at least I will neva know lol. Love that they have self check out but I couldn't see any register scan guns to scan the items in the carts. instead you have to take each item out of the cart, scan and place in the larger metal basket, than after scanning all items and paying it tells you to remove your items. Mind you it disnt allow me to scan the 2nd item if I didnt place the 1st item in the side basket. Okay self check out is supposed to be faster and easier so why is it having the customers carry everything 2x. Okay no probs went back to the table to wait 8 more mins until I heard our order # called again. Great pizza ready...opened the box to verify it was our and guess what...half pepperoni half supreme...wrong again...by this time my mother stepped in, lol dont mess with my Hawaiian mama. She showed the girl at the whole pizza window our receipt and told her once again we ordered a half cheese half combo No pepperoni we dont eat pepperoni pizza. The girl went to the pizza lady she started arguing and yelling 'what the hell does she want' than looked over and saw my mom and said 'oh just give her the cheese pizza slices from the last pizza'. The girl came back and told my mom what she was going to do and my mom said 'we don't eat pepperoni but we'll find someone who does'. Long wait for 2 pizza boxes housing a pizza and a half. Not sure how the pizza lady kept hearing and making pepperoni but to answer her question What does she want? all we wanted was a half&half Cheese&Combo pizza, C&C dont have no P. Next time we order a whole pizza to take home to the ohana for dinner we will definitely be rethinking our decision at this location. Considering it was quite busy here today, I had no issues interrupting my weekly therapy shop for food day!! As usual, the stock of items that I came to purchase were all available. Similar to my gas post, I frequent the Waipio or Kapolei locations because to be brutally honest, I hate the Iwilei location. You're best bet coming to shop I'd say is to avoid the day of or few days after EBT day because the place is packed with people and probably find that many items are sold out quick. Aside from this, you still have the food court and tire center at your convenience. This, as most of us know, is universal. P.S. Don't forget to get your samples of whatever foods they're providing. They said in making and then the genius Jeffrey gets mad at me telling me I should have informed him before and I should have known Costco system is down in morning. The workers at this location are friendly and professional. They are always ready to serve you with a smile. They even have a resident Disney character in the store. I know they're trying to be fast & helpful, but you have to watch them or you will overpay. I have bought my phones from Costco waipio location , but they no longer sevice t mobile. so I went to kapolei location this morning to order my new iPhone 15. couple days ago spoke to a very nice lady name Tracy and she said pre sale would be Friday, but she would be off. She was helpful and informative and very professional. I go in and the guy who services me his name is Jeff. he was absolutely wonderful, professional and oh so helpful. No pressure just wants the best for the customer, even making suggestions didn't try to hurry me and even thanked me for being his first customer for the IPhone 15, I went one hr earlier before opening. I am never ever shopping or stepping foot in another costco again. I have a Costco membership as a Christmas gift that my sister has given me as a Christmas gift which is the only reason why I shop at Costco. Even tho I prefer Sam's club since I already have a membership with Sam's. Tonight, 06/08/2023 at around 705pm at Kapolei Costco, I was discriminated against and had the worst treatment from a local Hawaiian lady. I have 7 year old twins, one being physically disabled with a Prostethic leg with whom was sitting in the front seat of the cart in the front. When I was ready to check out, there was about 2 people ahead of me which wasn't bad or a big deal. After the guy before me went to check out, I stood in line for a good 3 minutes and more customers started lining behind me. As there was no guidance in line, a lady who worked at self check out approached when the line was getting longer and yelled, there's 2 lines. Then people started to form them. So I decided to stand on the right side since I was already waiting before everyone else. She should had let me go first available side which was available but no, all the people who came to the line after Me and couple people who stood after me waited while the others who came after went first. After waiting and seeing all the other people going I decided to take the next available open then the lady comes yells at me rudely telling me I have to wait. I looked at her and said why do I have to wait when I came all before these people and you saw me there before the others. Again with her attitude didn't give a damn if I was there or not. Then she looks at my physically disabled son and walked away as I went to the next available self check out on the right side because she told me since I waited on the right side I had to go to that side. Then she walks away not even helping me with the 5 packs of water bottles in the cart. Normally, the associates have to scan them in so the customers didn't need to take it out one by one. Instead this lady just walked away and had to flag her down. Again, she is giving me looks and my son dirty looks as if she is disgusted. I'm so upset I stormed out of there and then loaded my car. Ive tried to call Costco several Times and there was no answer then finally someone answered and I requested to speak with a manger. When I finally got a hold of a manager, I told her what happened because I never experienced a discrimination towards a a single mother who has a physically disabled child. I will be asking for a refund for my membership tommroow when I have the time to digest what just happened to me as a single mother who has a physically disabled child. I will be reporting this to corporate Costco tommroow when they are open since the time difference for Hawaii is behind the other states. read more

I drive a truck and need to put gas every weekend at Costco gas so naturally I will go shopping at Costco weekly. Sticking to your shopping list helps until you see something you really don't need, but could use and look how much you get! It so easy to shop at Costco the isles are wide and products are displayed in a shopper friendly way. The store in general is always clean including the restrooms. Costco is a big store, but you can always find help when your trying to locate a product or have a question about a product. The warehouse staff is very knowledgeable about what they sell and if it's in stock. If you have a big family or like saving money Costco is the way to go. read more

While both Costco's in Oahu are great, I particularly liked the selection at this location. For example, they had a large sushi selection and a neat assortment of fresh leis in the fridge section. I was looking for bagged hurricane popcorn at the other location but they only had the kind where you'd need to microwave yourself. To be considerate of others at the hotel who may not like the smell of popcorn, I felt the already popped version would be better. This location has it! One of the best things about this location are their employees. This should be a different review on their gasoline page, but we had to flag down an attendant at the gas station because we forgot our card at home. We had such a great chat with the attendant while there. Such great aloha spirit and reminded us why we love the people in Hawaii so much. read more

I ordered new tires, weeks before, and COSTCO sent me an email on Monday to warn me to not be late for my appointment on TUESDAY to have my tires installed. I went to my scheduled appointment and they said that my tires had not been received yet. The lady acted like I was lying to her when I said I received an email yesterday for my appointment. I went home and they still haven't returned my calls. It sucks being treated like a liar when COSTCO is the one at fault.
