Went in today to buy a device. No one is around. On the other side a worker was talking to what seemed to be a customer. But I notice she has a COSTCO badge on too. They notice us and keep the repairs to my house conversation going. My wife turns around and she's a young kid who helps us. We go to pay and the cashier is real pushy on the executive membership for 21 dollars more to save 10% on the purchase. We say no. Like 3 times. I just tried to cancel my membership at Costco by calling my local store. I live over 40 miles away from my local store. They have just informed me that I am unable to cancel my membership unless I appear in person at the store. I highly recommend that you do not do business with Costco and certainly not engage in any sort of automatic renewal policy. read more

Beware!!! This is for the tire center!! Always the same result!!!! Pathetic at best, you set an appointment then you must wait behind countless walk up people who merely want to price tires . Therefore you can't even leave your car for the appointment you set weeks prior. Then after you leave your vehicle they are already ready to take breaks- you watch the service techs leave your car sitting on the rack and go take their breaks - although I always set the first morning allotment. Which is 10am.. .. Finally- the service is performed- the girl at the counter leaves for her " break" now...which results in your car being ready, outside ..YET.. NO one is there at the counter to call you letting you know your car is ready. Until she returns from her hour long break of course!! At this location an appointment means NOTHING!!!!! Try another Costco or SAM's A simple tire rotation with an appointment should not take over 2 plus hours. it's this way every single time!! Tire service took 2 hours to replace 2 tires. Lunch break left the car on a jack, then another 45 minutes, then another 30 minutes to bring the keys back after they mo ed it out to the parking lot... worst service, and most expensive price. I won't come back for tires... read more

This review concerns 2 items. 1. The bakery has changed from making 1 pound country bread loaves to a larger 2 pound loaf. Which is for me not practical. It is too large for our purpose and too large to handle. The one pound loaf was much more user friendly for all around home use. Our bread purchase has changed to another location. This item gets a 0-1 star rating because of the size change. 2. The wine department has been hacked up. The local Costco has moved the heavy floor cases to an area in the vertical shelving area. This review is based solely on the tire center, everything else at Costco is 5-star. Prices on tires is unbeatable, installation was fine, no scratches on my wheels, however they COULDN'T BALANCE A WHEEL TO SAVE THEIR LIVES. Took a Lexus Sedan here yesterday, had new Michelin's put on and everything seemed fine until I got it out on the road. At 65mph there was a good vibration in the steering wheel, which is a bit hard to notice due to the cars comfort mode and road feeling dampening. At 100 miles the vibrations turned into violent thuds. Took the car back and the staff were nice, apologetic, and agreed to fix the issue and find a different mechanic to preform the balance. Upon picking the car back up, the mechanic explained that it should be better as this time he balanced it to the bare minimum on the machine. I'm no mechanic, but I don't understand why they didn't do this in the first place, unless they just half-assed the job. They also mentioned that they "cannot guarantee no vibrations at 65 mph and especially at 100mph as they can't recommend I drive that fast". As if that's any kind of excuse for a half-assed balance job. Today driving with all comfort features turned off and full road feeling, I have a HORRIBLE thumping from the rear tires at 65 mph. I'm so fed up with Costco's incompetence at balancing a tire that I'm just paying a private shop to do the job correctly now. Going forward, I'd rather pay more money for tires somewhere else and know I'm getting competent work done the first time. If they are willing to cut corners on a balance job, what else are they letting slide? read more

It's busy here this morning with the aftermath of the gas pipeline hack and all. The attendant here indicated that people freaked out about the gas pipeline hack for two days. It's settled down a little bit today, after the ransom was paid to the hackers. Gas is $2.45/gallon, not bad. Went to check to see if we can pick up more snacks, but the lines were pretty long. The mask mandate in the store was lifted for folks that have already been vaccinated, following the CDC recommendations. I'll still be cautious and wear them anyways. read more

Even on a very busy weekend right before Christmas you can count on Costco to have all hands on deck. The place was packed today but they were very organized and had two people per register and extra helped at the self checkout to keep the lines moving. I love many things here including the meat, stuffed peppers as well as the cheeses and salami packs. read more

Saturday crowded as expected. Used the self-checkout but for some reason the monitor required someone to log in on the screen before I could pay. There was only one attendant, and a number of the self-service kiosks were flashing as needing help. She did not help people in the order they requested (3 people were helped even though their request came after mine. So had to wait a long time. We mentioned that to her so she would know and also tried to understand why she had to check us out. She was busy and rude and did not even talk to us. I have been going to Costco for ages and even purchased tires there knowing service would be slow. However, I recently purchased a Sam's card and they were not only helpful but also allowed me to use their app to check out without going through the checkout line. read more

I've been a member of Costco for many years, even before this location opened. For the most part it's ok. I'm just disappointed that it doesn't have as many non perishable organic products. The first day we came looking for organic flour and sugar I was heartbroken they didn't have it. The have later added sugar but not flour, and other products. Costco will always be me go to for bulk things for the home. I would recommend going on everyday except Friday-sunday. I gets extremely crowded with long lines. This location has low gas prices and excellent values in the store. We love the hot dog & drink special for $1.50 for lunch. Clothing choices change according to the season. I've sung Costco's praises day in and day out, patronizing them so much that I've had a history of being duke (at least for a while) at an out-of-town location. That despite all Costcos having parking issues; this one, though, takes the cake. I think it has to do with the proximity to the fall behind it. Parking is impossible to come by most days despite there being a covered parkade out around the back! All I can say is, if you're going to come anywhere around here around Christmas time, you might be better off using your own two legs as a mode of transportation. I was visiting my daughter and decided to buy lots of food for her and my grandchildren before I left. she said costco was the place to go. I was amazed at the products and prices and spent almost $400. everything was good until check out time. the cashier was horrible. he said I could not pay for my daughters groceries so I replied that we would put it all back and shop somewhere else. of course he didn't want that to happen. then I turned to my daughter and spoke to her upon which he started screaming that I swore and swearing is not allowed in the store! he proceeded to loudly announce that he was a Christian and I was disrespecting him! needless to say I have never in my life witnessed such a horrible display of customer service. We are coming up to our one year mark where it's time to renew, so we made the drive into Georgia to see if there was anything we needed. When we went to checkout, we went through the self checkout area and a lady was standing by the register. I showed her my card and she rang everything up. When it was time to pay, my husband pulled his credit card out and went to swipe it. She stopped him and asked if he was a member. I said yes, but she said show me your card. First off we are married, we are on the same account. But he took it out of his wallet and showed her. She made him show him the picture on the back to verify it was truly his card. We thought this was crazy, I as a member should be able to come in with any one I want. As we were leaving, the man at the door had his back to us talking to another crew member. We walked by, as we didn't think it was important to stop and wait for their conversation to end and he chased us out the door to look at our receipt. I don't know what's going on with their customer service, but they don't make us feel welcomed. We won't be renewing our membership another year. read more

This Costco location is well kept, organized (as much as can be with how much they inventory), the pharmacy is great and speedy, and the eye doctor here is our favorite and most thorough. Their wine selection and grocery section is also superb, though there are some strangely disappointing omissions (ie: No plain hummus, but a HUGE stock of pine nut hummus?) But, when it comes to respecting your time, this Costco falls flat. Once you're done shopping, the lines are atrocious. But, that's what you would expect at most locations. But here, they dont allow you to buy a few select items when picking up prescriptions. So, when you bundle your visit with that, you have to wait on two lines. If you want to eat? Another line. And, when you want to leave? You guessed it, another line has formed to check your cart. read more

I have been a Costco member since 1983. This was perhaps the most chaotic and unfriendly Costco I have ever been to and found myself wondering how it missed the mark so much! The people giving samples seemed miserable The people stocking seemed miserable The registers had grim faced checkers We ended up buying only the two things we needed, normally we get a whole bunch of stuff we don't necessarily need but was interesting. This one had such a pall over it our entire visit we got our protein shakes and pecans and got out of there, fast! Even the people shopping there just seemed hard and angry, it was strange and not very Costco-y to us at all. Even though it is not far from Chattanooga, a place we love to visit, we will not be returning to this location in the future. read more

Tire Center - Bought tires at a good price last year. Install was fine. Came in last week to get the free rotation and balance. After an hour wait they said that needed to make an appointment. I made one for 1PM today. Turned in the keys at 12:40 and shopped. At 3:30 the tires were not done and I was second in line. Turns out that today a new sale started so anyone buying tires got priority over appointments. Even those folks had to wait 3 hours. What good is an appointment? Meanwhile if you need to know anything about the store I have it memorized from walking around in it for 3 hours. Not sure if or when I'll go back. read more

When you come to Costco, I'm not sure what kind of service you expect... I really never had any expectations when I came here - UNTIL.... I purchased a few bottles of wine here, and had the misfortune of one bottle being bad. I mean really bad. The cork was half rotted and by the time we got the bottle open, the wine was more like brown sludge than anything else. Well now what? A store isn't going to take wine back. I called the store and explained what happened. They didn't give me a hard time at all! In fact, they explained that there is a no return policy on alcohol in the state of Georgia, but said they'd be happy to give me a credit toward my next purchase. They asked when I was coming in next. When I got there, Anthony verified my purchase, but during this time he was approached by several customers and other sales associates with various challenges. I would have been completely frazzled. Not Anthony. He was calm, polite and handled each issue and questions with a smile and confidence, the whole time not neglecting me. I really don't know how he did it, but he made it look effortless. Not only was I satisfied with the way the store handled my challenge, but I was very impressed with Anthony and his service toward me and about 5 others at the same time. I can only hope that he is recognized for his stellar work ethic. His skill of customer service is a rarity! read more

Although the warehouse is nice and the customer service experience is fine in that part of the organization; I would strongly suggest you find somewhere else to have tires installed. I've had tires put onto two vehicles here, paid in advance and made an appointment to get them installed. The Tire Center uses the term, "appointment" very lightly, and they are happy to routinely underestimate by a very large margin the time it will take them to install them on your vehicle. The first episode with an "appointment" took a mere 1.5hrs to get my 4 tires put on. The second "appointment" time lasted a little over 3 hrs for another 4 tires. Nothing special about the install. Had I not prepaid for the tires, I would have walked away from this joke of a tire shop. To add insult, I took my vehicle to a closer shop at 7500 miles to get them rotated the first time and was told that the lugs had been over-tightened and they feared damaging my tires. They suggested I return to Costco, which I did. Although the service manager said he would make me a priority and "get me in next" I walked out 1.5hrs later with my keys and still nothing done to fix the issue with my tires. I'll gladly pay someone else to fix Costco's screw-up. I have too much self respect to subject myself to their customer service games again. read more

This is a great place for buying things in bulk. You have to have a membership to shop here. As far as I can tell, prices for things are that much different from other stores if you bought them in bulk elsewhere. This one seems to be on the smaller side, but I really can't complain because the nearest Costco used to be 3 hours away from my house and now it's only an hour. I'm so thankful that Costco is now in our area. This saves me hours driving to Nashville or Atlanta. Now that I've shopped at this location a few times, I have a few comments. First, the store seems smaller than others. Not small, just smaller. It was packed every time I visited so I'm sure they'll have no trouble being successful at this location. I wonder why they chose not to include self checkout lanes here. Lastly, the parking lot has hardly any cart returns. As a result, customers are leaving shopping cars behind other vehicles or letting them roll freely into other cars. The only way to stop this is to make cart return easier. Hopefully these are just growing pains. Otherwise, the employees have all been great and the store is shiny and clean. read more

When this location first opened, I was thrilled... And in their wine department way too often. I loved walking around, leisurely checking out all the aisles and perusing the books/magazine section. Like every other Costco shopper, I often filled my cart with $100s worth of stuff I didn't even know I needed. Though I still enjoy coming here, like the song says, "the thrill is gone." Don't bother going during the weekends-- just trying to get your cart through the aisles past the greedy folks trying to grab samples is like driving in NYC during rush hour. And the checkout lines... forget about it! I've switched my trips to middle of the day on weekdays and I must say, the lines are often still long. It's a bit disappointing that even in the middle of the day only 3 lines are open and still go all the way back to the rows of food (both annoying and making it hard for people to pass.) Also, everything here is not always a bargain. Don't get me wrong, I really like their Kirkland brand products and have found some real steals there. BUT, as an avoid couponer, I can sometimes find better deals at local grocery/drugstores. And, I don't always need a gallon of mayonnaise. Of course, you can still find me in the wine department a few times a month... Though not as often as I used to be there. read more

I think that if it weren't for the great beer prices, I'd be ready to cancel my membership. It really is worth the drive south from Ooltewah to purchase beer though. Just take a look at my guest room closet to see the wide variety of cases. I was in Tallahassee this Thanksgiving and got to visit the awesome Costco there where I was able to buy beer with much higher alcohol content and also visit their awesome liquor store to restock my liquor cabinet. I sure wish Ft. O had the liquor store. Other great things to buy here are items from the cafe, cell phones from the kiosk-best deals I've found, home mortgage (yes, my Ooltewah home mortgage came thru Costco and it was a fantastic deal) and propane tank fillings are less than $9 for your standard grill. Aggravating purchases always seem to be produce. So often stuff goes bad so quickly and I'm screwed. I bought two cantaloupes last week and within two days, both were rotting. I guess I'll keep renewing my membership and just quit buying the lousy produce. read more

The one in Knoxville doesn't get this busy, but I think it's a testament to how much everyone loves Costco products and business practices anyway. I stop here when I need a cheap break when I'm traveling down the 81, I can get gas, cheap snacks, a decent meal, a warm place to walk around, compare the products between this Costco and other ones I've been too, and if I don't get a cart we can get out only with what we can carry!
