Had to urgently order a tire in person - due to it being a warranty order. Estimated 2 - 3 weeks. No calls, so had to call them - has anyone else ever tried that? Let it ring, let it ring. After finally reaching someone, it was "I will check on this for you and call you back in a few minutes". No call back for the entire day. So I walk in. Hmm, should be here. Search for 20 minutes in their obviously organized system. No tire. So now the story is, well, apparently this happens "a lot" where Costco orders and it doesn't come in. But good news "we ordered another one for you earlier today". Really? So you knew it didn't come in earlier today, didn't call me back, looked for 20 minutes anyway, and now say we reordered it? Ok, fine. I ask for documentation that an order was placed. "I can't give that to you." With a straight face no less! When I ask why, it's "well there's personal information on the order". What?! It's an order for me, and all I'm asking for documentation of the order for me, and you can't share information on me and my order? Does anyone smell a rat?! The gentleman says let me speak with my manager...yes please, solve it... The "'manager" never had the guts to come out and talk to me themselves- just kept channeling thru their front man. How about this for a "throw away comment" - he was nice... I finally get a print out. With almost no information. My name isn't even on it. With an estimated delivery almost a month from now. Seriously? The order wasn't a recreational activity - there is a screw in my tire. And all I get from Costco Hawaii Kai tire is the run around on a warranty order. Can't get their facts straight. Unwilling to provide documentation. Unwilling to say, hey, we messed up so we'll get a rush on this. Costco is great in many ways. But not the Hawaii Kai Tire Center. Excuses, shifting explanations, contradictory statements. It is the epitome of a poorly managed, inefficient and inept operation. The worst part about it is THEY DON'T CARE, and they know there's not a thing anyone can do about it. And that's why they never apologize, improve or change. read more

Is there a no star rating? Bought all 4 tires at Costco Hawaii Kai but possibly a year (or more) apart. The first two, the service guy said he can't warranty the tires unless they change the valve stems (sounds like the Toyota service writers all over again) I had to laugh but they were cheap enough to avoid the confrontation. Just now, I went in for my 4:00P "Tire Service" that they wrote on a sticker in the front left of my windshield. Made the appointment on line, checked the correct boxes, took off from work, secured a ride Only to have their service writer walk me over to my Tacoma and measured the tred depth and tell me that HE CANNOT TAKE MY TRUCK IN TODAY BECAUSE THE TREAD DEPTH FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK IS DIFFERENT what the F do you expect when the tires are bought over a year apart...It shows up on you computer hello. Ok so I asked what do you mean you can't take it in today, he responded with WE CAN DO THE SERVICE WHEN YOUR TREAD DEPTH IS SIMILAR FROM FRONT TO BACK... so of course my response was SO YOURE TELLING ME THAT YOURE NEVER GOING TO DO MY TIRE SERVICE. He then responded that I could rotate the rear tires to the front and try to wear them down. So if I were dumb enough to do the rotation and "balance" off the tread depth, only to have them tell me that I missed my required required service at 170,000 so they can't take my truck in "today", I'd be in jail for sure. All I can say is that with his delivery and arrogance, hes just lucky that I'm old, 10 years ago he'd be on his ass and I'd be in jail..... They do great work but be ready to wait. Even with making appts the system moves slow. The website is difficult to navigate and it's unclear what kind of appointment is needed. Still, the staff is very nice and seemed dedicated to doing the right thing for every customer. So if you have the time this crew is great. read more

Really Need help. Purchased tires on 1/29. Paid for already. They said they would contact us when the tires came in. It is now 3/17. No call or emails. We have called several times and the phone rings off the hook and no way to leave a message. We have drove back to the tire dept and still no updates. Any suggestions?? read more

Needed new tires for my model 3, originals were coming up on six years and wearing thin. They open at 10:00 on Fridays so I arrived a little before 9:30 so I'd be first. Went in when the store open. And they were very friendly helping me select which tires are best and told me they'd call me when it was ready for pick up. NBN, there's a fairly supple process and they didn't make it a fairly easy one as well. Good value and pleasant service. read more

Hmmm, hard to say in this one as their tire prices are standard to other local tire installers but they have a good warranty on puncture repairs. That being said, they are really busy with lines out the door and if one wants to make an appointment through their computer site, the date will be sometime in the following week. Also, today, their computer system was down and everything had to be manually put on paper. Overall, feels like a waste of over 2 hours to have 1 tire installed. Side note, we still never got the text that our 1 tire had been installed. read more

Just like others have mentioned, 3+ hour wait for a tire change, even with an appointment. Waited over 2 weeks for the tires to be ordered, then another week until the next available appointment. This center also does not answer their phone, even with multiple calls at different times of the day. While Iwilei is much busier, the service is better and wait times are shorter. Avoid this tire center if you can. read more

Looking at my last review in 2017, There have been changes in getting new tires at Costco. I ordered my tires online since I know they don't carry my staggered performance tires in stock. They even had a sale with discount if I bought 4 tires. The online process was super easy and I received regular updates on delivery of my tires to the Costco shop. Someone from Costco even called me when the tires arrived to find out if I wanted to get it installed earlier. Installation appointments can be done online which is what I did. I chose a weekday thinking it would be less busy. I arrived at about 10 am on a Tuesday and checked my car in by 10:30am. After only 60 minutes, I was called and informed the install was done. Walked in today without an appointment (didn't know you needed an appointment now). I was the third person in the door when they opened at 9:00am. I needed them to check one of my tires that seemed to have a slow leak. They were able to accommodate me, (without an appointment), which I appreciated. They told me that it would be about 1 to 1.5 hours, so I accepted the wait. They charged me for the service and I went to walk around the shopping complex. When the time quoted came up and didn't get a call, I thought I'd give them a call to inquire, if I may have missed their call (which I didn't). They said they'd call me when it was ready. Two more hours elapsed (now it's been five hours). I finally received a call to inform me my car was ready. As I mentioned, I appreciated they took me without an appointment, but they shouldn't have quoted me a time they weren't going to be able to keep. I would have appreciated it more if they would have been more honest about the wait and should have followed up with a call to inform me that it was going to be a much longer wait then originally quoted. I could have made other plans instead of waiting at Costco for five hours. I would have thought they would take care of the more simple projects and push my job out quicker. I would have given 5 stars. They did a good job and I will return to them again. It just was a long day and it pushed all of my project back and I couldn't get any of them done today. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. I recommend avoiding, even if you need to drive farther and spend a little more money. It truly was that bad Ridiculously long wait time, even when I showed up an hour prior to opening, earlier than the 45 minutes recommended by the team member the day prior, "to avoid waiting for 2-3 hours." I had a 4:45 appointment slot booked, but did not want to wait that long, which is why I arrived before 9:00. Was assured by staff member when I checked in that I would definitely have my car back before my 4:45 appointment time. It took over 9 hours for them to finish my car. I received it at 6:10 PM. The family who was originally right behind me in line were still waiting for their car to be started on. It was looking like 10+ hours for them. A disturbing fact is that the family reported that at least three others who had checked in after us had already left with their servicing completed. These people had no appointments and were standing in the long line BEHIND us at check in. I followed up several times for updates, even with a warehouse manager who kindly walked over to the tire center to check on status for me. At each checkpoint I was given severely inaccurate time quotes. There were no apologies for the extreme delay, only the excuse that they prioritize people with appointments. Clearly not, since I had an appointment. There is a warranty on the tires, but what good is it if you get a flat and need emergency repair, and have to wait forever to get assistance? Unless you have all day to waste and don't mind being given the runaround, avoid this place at all cost! read more

Had to replace my car tires and waited for Costco tire sale. They had an awesome deal on 4 new tires. The customer service was just amazing. The staff is so friendly and give 120% service. The wait was not too long. Jason assisted me and recommended the tire that would fit my car. We even walked to my car so he could check the measurements and other important things before putting in the order. Paid for the tires and scheduled the appointment the following week and left happy. Returned the following week to replace my tires. Again received excellent service. Was so pleased with the service from Jason and the other staff I baked my special Lemon Bars. Waited over 30 minutes just to return the old battery to get the core return money $15 Why? Only 1 worker at counter and he kept saying if anyone has appointment, he/she goes to front of the line. What can I say it's the Costco tire shop . No doubt they are reliable and the best deal around. The hours are convenient because often times I can't walk in until later in the day because of work. Last week we brought both cars down for two different services - husband needed 2 new tires and I needed a tire maintenance/rotation. Don't try to call- they basically turn off their ringer because they are always so slammed with walk in and appointment customers that they don't have time to answer as the line is always at the door. Be prepared to wait in line... but once your car is checked in, they are super quick to work on it and call you back. Hubs and I went for some pupus at mailes while we waited... turned mundane task in to a mini date. Overall good experience. read more

The upside: the prices and service are excellent. The downside: very, very busy; they don't answer the phone and you have to make an appointment in person. It's worth going to Hawaii Kai after work to make an appointment, since the shopping center with the tire center has a Costco and several nice places for dinner: a Taco Del Mar for takeout Mexican, and a Ramen-Ya or Chopsticks and Rice for a sit down meal. And there's a Ross Dress for Less if you feel like browsing or picking up a few value buys. read more

My tires on the car were getting old and starting to make a lot of road noise, so I figured it was time to start looking for some tires. Hard to get a better price with the set of 4 and my last set was worn pretty evenly and all matched and needed changing anyway. Went online Costco tire finder through the application and figured out which tires were the best fit for comfort and budget. Ordered them and had them sent to Hawaii Kai Tire Center. I was alerted via email and an accompanying phone call from Costco HK that my tires we ready for pick up and install. Then used Costco online tire appointments .com to make an appointment in about a couple weeks. When the time came I brought my car in. Kevin I believe was the main person that helped. He was pleasant and easy to work with. It took about as long as they estimated. I received a phone call when they were done. Everything went pretty smoothly. I'm happy with the new tires so far. I appreciate the entire experience and would recommend it if you're not in a rush and able to wait a few weeks for shipping, appointment and service. read more

Who writes a follow up review for Costco tire? I DO! I hate going to Costco for tires. The check in/check out areas make me nauseous with the smell of rubber. Most tire stores keep their stock away from their customers but Costco keeps them right there in the lobby. I still love THIS Costco tire store because I go to the Costco food court, grab a $1.50 hotdog and soda, and walk to the Marina side seating. They are piping in Hawaiian music. It feels like a resort without the tourists. The you aren't as cheap as me, you can get Starbucks, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, sushi, or Jersey Mike's. If I'm going to wait for tires or tire service, I'd prefer to make Koko Marina my waiting room. read more

This place offered pretty good services with good employees; however, their computer system needs drastic improvements to link up with Costco purchases. Bought tires online and then later learned they stocked locally the tires I needed; I could have just scheduled tire replacement appointment without going through all the hassles. I schedule time for the services. Went for my appointment, but failed to have my order number available, and they had a hard time finding my tires, notwithstanding the fact that I provided other pertinent information, such as charges to my credit card, appointment times & reasons, etc. Still unable to figure out what went wrong, other than the importance of having the order number handy. My nightmare experience was beyond description. Lesson learned: make sure you have your order number handy. Otherwise, you will be "SOL!". read more

(Pre-Covid 19) Recently stopped by the HI Kai location to rotate my tires which I bought from the Iwalei location. I was told that there would be a 2-4 hour wait because of all the people in front of us. So instead of waiting we made an appointment for the following week which is the best thing to do if you need any services from Costco Tire. The following week we showed up for our appointment and there was no cars in their reserved stalls surprisingly. We left our SUV and tire lock with the friendly staff member and went shopping, even though we didn't need anything. Well if you shop at Costco you do know that you'll always see things that you might or probably need. $200 in misc items later we went to see if they were finished with the free rotation. Which personally think is a super deal when you purchase tires from them. Yes, the vehicle was all done and just needed a signature to get us one out way. Like I mentioned previously, make an appointment with them if you don't like to wait. Great friendly service again! read more

My husband is away on a business trip & usually takes care of our vehicles. Well, my safety check had expired a month ago & when i took my car in, i was told my tires were bald!! Thank Goodness Costco was having a Michelin Tire Sale: $70 off 4 tires & if you use your Costco card, you will get another $60 off for a total of $130 off!!! What a deal! I checked Sams Club which also had the same $70 Michelin tire sale but NOT the additional $60 off plus i live in Aina Haina & Costco in Hawaii Kai is closer! So i called Costco & let the phone ring & ring to double check if they had the tires in stock for my Volvo. Jimmy answered the phone & was very nice & helpful. He checked if they had my tires & said if i come within an hour, they could change them for me! Great! I got to Costco & Jimmy was there to help me. Costco Tire Center is such a life saver. I found out from my neighbor that he noticed that my car tire was flat. Who knows how long its been that way. I almost forgot about it again until my husband texted me to get it checked out. Right after that text, I started to get worried about my drive. You see I drive every week day from Hawaii Kai to Waipahu. So here I am thinking the worst for my tire. I have one of those smart cars that can detect tire pressure on my car. Well the tire pressure signal kept going off so eventually I never paid attention to it. I should've paid attention because then I wouldn't have been in this predicament. Anyways so I press the tire pressure button on my car while driving and it's at 6. Yeah 6! It made me freak out even more hoping that nothing happens before I get to Waipahu. I made it safely to work but then I had to go to check out a tire place to see if they could patch my tire. They said that the damage was too great so I would have to replace the tire. I got an estimate from them and decided I would also call Costco for an estimate. Costco was cheaper so I took my car to them after work. One last trip with a flat tire all the way home. There weren't that many people there and they were able to help me right away. We decided to eat dinner in the area and just hope that they would finish right after dinner. They finished quick. I failed my safety check and needed new tires. I was told that Costco had the cheapest tires so I didn't really shop around for prices. Instead I just went straight to Costco. I tried to make an appointment online, but it said you have to call to make sure they have your tires in stock. So I called and they said yes. Instead of making an appointment though, I just decided to drop off my car first thing in the morning. It worked out great that they open at 7 am because I was able to drop off my car and pick up my car after work. (Luckily a co-worker offered to pick me up and drop me off.) I ended up changing all 4 tires because the front two were stripped and the back two were the original tires from 2009. Oops. Plus, I had to change out all 4 sensors because they were either dead or low in battery. That cost $45 each. My bill after a $100 instant discount.... $677. Ouch. Hopefully I won't have to change the tires anytime soon. read more

What a huge difference in customer service between Costco and the Tire Center across the parking lot. The people working here are unprofessional, impolite, discourteous, and inconsiderate. There seems to be only one person or nobody working at the front. Who the hell are all these people on the wall? Do they still work here!? When I came here, it was just me, but the person at the front was on the phone with a customer. 10 minutes later more people customers came, still on the phone. Another 10 minutes more people came in, still on the phone.... Then another employee came in, and literally screamed out "ANYONE PICKING UP??" It was unnecessarily loud since it was quiet inside and his co-worker is on the phone next to him. Only one person was picking up, and he just gave him his keys and that's it. Did not offer to help anyone else. What, not qualified to help customers? There were at least seven people waiting behind me, and no one bothered to get someone "qualified" out front to help us? That's very unacceptable. Also, the worker talking on the phone was unnecessarily long and drawn out. Everyone was losing their patience. After the long wait, I asked him to have my battery CHECKED. He said "Ok, let me get that," and then grabbed a book. Uhhhh, quite a large battery tester there.... I asked one more time, and they don't have a battery tester. Really? Then why did you give me that answer? It's ridiculous they don't have one since they're selling batteries too. But I guess they're not qualified to test it and change it for you. My battery is just 40 months old. The warranty is 36 months, so I just wanted to see if my battery really needs a replacement because I've had a hard time starting my car. I was thinking it might be overheated with this terrible humid heat and burning sun. But I didn't have a choice! I just bought one. I haven't installed it yet. I'm tempted to return this battery and just go to Sam's Club since they have battery testers and their customers service is infinitely better than here. However, their batteries are more expensive and not very reliable, but it seems like my Costco battery isn't too reliable either. Can Costco Hawaii Kai please send some workers from the Warehouse to replace these unqualified fools at the Tire Center? And buy a battery tester! Thanks. read more

I'm a little annoyed with the tire center cause no one ever picks up their phone and I tried both Hawaii Kai and Iwilei locations which could have saved me some time if I had spoken to someone before hand. So I got to the tire center the next day just a little after they opened - no one was in the front and I hear the phone ringing on the lowest setting ever. Which explains why no one picks up the phone especially if they're not in the front area, but someone eventually came. I explained that I bought a battery from them exactly a year ago in December and it died on me a few nights ago. The exchange is no problem - sort of! Only except they can't change the battery for you if it's currently in your cars engine. My only option was to buy a new one and then return the dud another time. The only problem is that once I got home and found an available body to assist me installing it, it turned out to be the wrong one sold to me so it was a complete waste of time all around because now I have to go back and get the correct battery and then take it home to install and then go back to Costco to make another return! That's 3 trips to Costco!! I'm beyond peeved because I've been out of a car for almost a week and i don't know how long I'll be able to run with my car being jumped all the time. read more

I went in with a, well, sponsor to buy me tires and install them a few weeks ago. Neither of us know much at all about cars, but all I really needed was the size of my tires, which can easily be found on the internet or on the tires themselves. I had called ahead to ask if I needed an appointment and was told that I didn't and that I was only required to buy the tires prior to leaving it to be installed. The guy at the front working the register was extremely friendly and informative, giving us options based on price and on what I realistically needed. Upon inspection of the car, he informed us that this could be a $12 job if I only wanted to patch the tire since they seemed to all still be in decent shape. My sponsor agreed that four new tires made more sense since we were already there and coming back within the next year would just be a waste of time. I didn't complain. The estimated time for an installation without an appointment was 4-6 hours or so. I was informed that my grandmother--I mean sponsor--received a call only a couple hours later and it was already finished. The only issue I ran into the entire time was the initial line. It was a decent wait, but it also wasn't more than it seemed like it was going to be. I can't speak for any other service members except the one I had, but as far as I saw, it was a solid experience. read more

I visited to get a punctured tire fixed after using a liquid sealant to temporarily repair the tire (I used the one that came included with my car since it doesn't have a spare). The guy verified all my tire sensors still worked and told me it was no issue to get it fixed with the sealant inside - worst case scenario I'd just need to get the one tire replaced since the others had most of their tread left. They didn't have any slots open that day so I scheduled an appointment for a few days later. I arrive for my appointment and am told that they can't fix a tire with sealant, contrary to what I was told earlier. I then ask them to replace the tire, but he says they can't just replace one, I'd need to buy two. So now a $15 repair has turned into a $300 expense. Deceptive and a complete waste of time. read more

A screw nailed my tire and I got a flat. Went to Costco because of convenience how quickly it would be for a tire replacement. Arrived right before 8 am stood in a short line. When I explained that my tire was flat because of a screw, the attendant checked to see if they could repair the tire before replacing it. Repairing the tire would have only cost $11.50 vs buying a new one. What I liked about it was that it didn't matter if the tire that we were inspecting was not purchased from Costco. So it didn't matter, they would Repair it regardless if it was a Costco purchased tire. There was a 4 hour wait, but it was all worth it because upon inspection, they were able to repair the tire. They also checked if the inside of the tire was compromised too! Awesome service Costco! Thanks for helping me save $$$. read more

Rude customer service is the start; was early for my appointment, but had to wait 45 minutes for 'help'- someone to tell me that since my car originally came with run-flat tires, Costco will not mount non run-flat tires on my car. I may have purchased them from their website, following the instructions on the website, and have a spare tire, but that doesn't matter. The tires are the same size, width, speed rating and even have a better load rating, but they are not run-flat tires (they were changed at the dealership to non run flat because the original owner complained). The rude manager was unable to return the tires & give me a refund since I didn't use their credit card, so now they have added another layer of inconvenience & have tied up my money for weeks. I'm surprised at the overall poor level of customer service Costco has slipped to over the past year- seems most of their employees don't want to be there, as they have no problem telling their paying customers what they should have noticed, done, or said. Doesn't even look like I can have someone else mount the tires as they won't give me my tires. Damn. read more

This is the second time I've taken my wifes juke for a flat repair, and the second time, they would not repair a simple nail. First time because it was with an inch of the side wall, and because the car is AWD, they have to replace all 4 tires. The second time was because the inside shoulder was worn. They recommended replacing both front tires, and while we are, it replace the back because one tire had scuff marks from rubbing a curb. Do not recommend...long wait times, lack of customer service, lack of staff, upselling when not necessary. Considering filing formal complaints with both the store and corporate for predatory practices. read more
