Beware of bait and switch from this business Years back, I went to a tire shop on sand island (Mikole St) and didn't like how I was serviced there. I had a slow leak and told a plug was $10. An hour later, I was charged $26 ($1 dollar tax) because the guy said a patch was better. He didn't give me the option to make that decision. After running a whole bunch of potholes after this Kona Low storm, I have a slow leak again in one of my tire. Not sure if it can be repaired (I was putting air every day), I brought my spare new tire. My thinking was if the tire cannot be plugged or patched, I will have them replace with my own tire. The guy working could not find the leak (he had informed me that they are now charging $35 for a patch now) so he suggested I change out my tire. I agreed. I asked him if the price was still $25 since they had increased their price for a patch. He said they charge $25 for the dismount, mount and balance service. I told him I will take my old tire back. Before he put my tire back, he wanted me to pay and the invoice says $35. I told him he charged me the wrong price. He said the additional $10 was for tire disposal. But I was taking my tire back. He said they charge the additional $10 no matter what. Although the $10 is not a lot of money, it's the principle behind this. They advertise $25 patch and $25 for change-out tire service, but when you get there, you realize it's a bait and switch tactics. I will never going to use their service no more. read more

I dropped off a dismounted wheel for a simple tire patch and valve stem replacement for next day pickup. When I arrived an hour and a half after they opened it still wasn't done and I was told it would be another half hour before they could do it. I dropped it off at lunch. The employees excuse was "the guy never showed up" which made no sense to me since he was the guy I dropped it off with and he was mounting a tire as he spoke. As I was driving into town, I noticed that my tire light went on and my car was swerving to one side, so I decided to head straight to VIP Tires to see what was going on. The technicians were very informative letting me know that I had a nail in my tire and there were a couple options for me. I could either do an inside patch for $25 or a plug for $10. which were both good deals. We opted for the patch because as Victor stated, "it's almost like a new tire because your tires are still good". They did the job really quick and had excellent customer service. I don't keep cars long enough to have to buy tires. This is the second time I bought tires in my life. First time I picked up Michelin tires for my LS460L and I remember it being on the pricey side. When I leased my most recent Benz from CA, I was told that I can return the tires bald and it'll be ok as long as no wires are showing. It's great but the dealership here in HI said I had to replace them. Maybe because I didn't get the vehicle from them? Not sure but it's another reason why the Mercedes Benz dealership here sucks. If I didn't replace the tires, they would but charge the usual dealership markup. Since I have run flats, it would have been pricey for new tires that I would never use. Why burn a several hundred dollars when you don't have to? That's a lot of bowls of pho! I called around and was recommended to contact VIP Tires (same company as VIP Towing). They told me to come down to see what they have in stock since tires are sold on a first come, first serve basis. When I arrived, Victor helped me. I told him I needed two 225/45/18 run flat tires of the same brand. He said give him a few minutes and he'll go see what they have in stock. A few minutes later he came back and said they had two Pirelli run flats. What luck! They said it's rare to have matching run flats. I asked how long and they said 30 minutes but I didn't have 30 minutes so they said 20 minutes then I consented. Didn't feel like coming back later in traffic. They started on my vehicle right away after I pulled into their garage. Luckily I had the wheel lock handy on me. I waited outside till they were done. It only took them about 15 minutes so that was quick! They asked if I wanted to dispose the tires myself or have them do it for $10/each tire. I had them dispose it. Regular tires for 18 inch rims were $85/tire but run flats were $100/tire. This included balancing and installation. Total came out $210 cash (got a $10 discount). This was the perfect cheap resolution that I was looking for. Would I buy used tires for a car I'm going to be driving? No, I wouldn't but they were the best answer for my current tire problem. I highly recommend them if you need used tires for safety check or to return a leased vehicle to the dealership. Customer service is excellent and the price is right. 4.5 stars! You won't be disappointed with the service. Heads up, all sales final and no refunds. read more

Upon arriving at their Sand Island location I was immediately met by one of their friendly staff members; (I think his name was JT ) He was very knowledgeable & knew exactly what size tires I needed & found 2 almost new tires in less than 5 minutes & began servicing my vehicle. While he was busy at work I had the pleasure of meeting another team member named Victor. We talked like old friends and shared quite a few laughs. Another smiling face I met was the owner of VIP Tires also named Victor. Victor was a happy, humble, honest & more than fair guy who treated me & his staff like family. Scam Artists, walked across the street to help an accident and our car got towed. Called to ask for the address to the shop so we could get the car back and the operator was rude and dissrespectuful, telling me to "Google" the address when it could have been given to me over the phone in the same breath it took her to tell me to "Google" it. Was put on hold for 10 minutes after that and when she got back on the phone she told me the the person operating the truck that towed us told her "what really happened" the entire story she told me was fabricated out of thin air. Tried to run the tower down to tell him what was happening on foot and he proceeded to speed up going much faster than 25 in residential. Blew threw a stop sign so I couldn't stop the truck and proceeded to make a a very un-safeleft turn with our car attached to the truck. Nothing about these people are aloha and I would not ever do buisness with them in any regard. I picked up a previously owned car at an excellent price a couple weeks ago. It needed some front tires and VIP Tires was recommended to me. As a back up car I don't want to spend a lot of money on it and was able to get two 14 inch "used but in good condition" tires put on the front for $90 ($45 each) plus $20 for disposing the old ones that I didn't want to bother with disposing of myself ($10 each). This included the installation. I'm not giving them five stars because they didn't balance the tires which is supposed to be included. It comes with a one week warranty which I figure is enough time to figure if there's any major issues. Service took about half an hour included waiting for them to finish one job ahead of me but they have enough guy's changing tires that they can do several vehicles at the same time. All in all was a decent experience for my needs. read more

My car is a limited edition so it can only take low profile tires and previously I was going to Lex Brodies who charged me $450 each time I needed tires replaced and told me they couldn't change one tire and they only did 2. One thing they don't tell you on the Facebook ad is that you have to pay a $10 fee for tire disposal unless you dispose of it yourself. $10 per tire! When I had my vans one tire replaced I never saw them balance the wheel. It feels fine while driving now but the fact I never saw them balance it concerns me. Probably won't come back here since I have a tire place I go to in Waipahu that is the same price and their prices already include the disposal fee. So the price is the same. Plus they actually balance the tire. This place gives you a week warranty against any defect or unbalanced issue. Flats they aren't responsible for. read more

When driving past construction sites means picking up a nail in a back tire......no fear! Call VIP Tires. Called VIP tires to see if they had my cars tire in stock- they sure didn't disappoint. The worker (wish I got his name!) was so efficient in letting me know the price for a new or used tire- and that they take the last car at 4:45p- I got there at 4:37p, pulled up to the lot and was greeted in less than a minute! A rep asked to go in my car and get my flat tire, so they could take get the rim for the replacement- I opted for a used which was $65 with NO mounting fee. also, the goodness was in my favor (prob every client they have) there was no disposal fee for my old jacked tire! VIP tires is the real deal! Lots of hard workers and seems to be the spot for best deal on tires. I liked that although there were two cars ahead, I was taken cared of with respect!
