First off, I would like to say that the staff there is incredibly friendly and helpful so this review's rating doesn't truly showcase their hard work. However, the processes that are in place to run the Costco Tire Center could be vastly improved. I ordered a set of tires back in January and was told that someone would call me when they arrive. The price was very reasonable and they were great at helping me find a set that fixed the spec that I wanted. I assumed that due to shipping issues to Hawaii, recent storms, etc that my tires must just be taking forever to source and arrive. After waiting a few months, I tried calling the shop and nobody ever answered the phone. I even called multiple times a day with the same result. I finally set some time aside to go down there and talk to someone about my tires. I was told that the tires had arrived within 2 weeks of the order but the representative was shocked to hear that nobody called me to let me know. He did his best to squeeze me into an installation appointment within 2 weeks of me coming in and I thanked him for trying his best to help me out. I arrived at my appointment today on time and it took about 30 minutes to drop my keys off to have my tires taken care of. There was a long line of folks who had a variety of issues with their batteries and tires. Some customers had absolutely no clue what they needed and the two workers were trying their absolute best to get thru the line in the fastest way they could. Service was completed within 2.5 hours from actual drop off which was explained and expected so I was pleased with that. My pickup thankfully was quicker due to an actual tire tech coming out from the back to process my pickup. He was also the kind gentleman that squeezed me in after my no-call situation. Overall I was happy with the service that was provided by employees in person, but the no communication for my order and the drop off and pickup process left me wishing for more. In store purchases of tires could not be tracked in the app, unless you make the purchase online yourself. Given how busy Costco can be, even if they sent some less specialized workers to the front desk for the drop off and pick up process, it would help the tire specialists take care of customers who have more technical questions and needs. I would love to do business with them again but with the hope that the processes make it easier for a customer to get their needs taken care of in a quick and timely manner. read more

I went in on a Thursday night with a flat tire. It was close to closing time, and I spoke with one of the mechanics who told me that they were out of my tire, but he would look at my tire to see if it was repairable. He informed me that they do accept the walk-ins if you are in line early enough. Sure enough the next day I was second in line and they repaired it in just under an hour for only $12 highly recommend coming here love these people. read more

First time and I'm a fan! Wife's car needed 4 new tires, and since I had time (a retiree), I decided to take a chance and try to walk in without an appointment. So I showed up 30 min before the 1000 am opening and I was #4 in line! They promptly opened up on time and by 1015 am I was at the service counter and paying for my tires! It took about 1 hr 15 min for them to mount the new tires and call me to say it was finished. But not a problem, as I could use the time to go shopping next door anyways. However, I just wish there was a small sitting area in the tire center. But in my case, I went shopping, and also had a quick lunch while waiting in the food court right outside. I think it helped in my case, that I looked online to see which tire I wanted, the tire size (I just looked at what was already on the car), and the year, make, model of the car. Then when I reached the counter, I could tell the sales person exactly what I wanted. So in doing a quick cost comparison between goodyear and costco, the savings of costco not charging for the mounting can be a big difference. For the same amount paid, you can get a better tire from costco. In my case, I got an 80,000 mile Michelin at costco, as compared to a 60,000 mile tire had I gone to goodyear. I mean, you really can't beat the price at the Costco Tire Center. You can order tires online, wait for them to ship in, and schedule an appointment, but in my case, I needed new tires immediately because I failed my safety check. At first I tried calling, but they're so busy that no one picked up. The mechanics also run the front desk, so they're only out there when they have a break, which I totally get. Instead of calling, I went in person in the evening when it's less crowded since most walk-ins come early in the morning. I was able to talk to someone, pick out the tires I wanted, and schedule an appointment for later that week without any issues. The day of my appointment, it took a couple of hours for them to finish my car, but pickup was super easy. One of the mechanics came out and asked if anyone in line was there for a vehicle pickup. I was the only one, so I got to skip the long line and grab my keys right away. I understand why some people leave low ratings, but once you understand how their department operates, it's honestly a smooth process. I honestly love Costco, and as busy as the tire center is the staff really does what they can to make it as painless as possible! They are always busy, so you just have to go in when you have time to wait and bite the bullet. They always overestimate their time though, I needed to get my tired rotated and they told me it would take 3.5 hours. However, a little over an hour passed and I got a call saying they were done! A happy surprise for me! The employees are very kind and work hard, the only suggestion I would give would be for them to hire someone who stays at the front and schedules appointments/answers phones. Waipio Costco Tire Center is the easiest to deal with and they have the best customer service! I was having a problem inflating one of my tires so I took it to Costco since the tires was purchased from them. To my surprise there wasn't a line and they opened a little earlier than the posted time. The guy listened intently to what my concern was then said it's probably the valve so they will look at it and fix it if that's the problem. He then asked if I want the tires rotated. Yes, please!! He said they will work on my car now and call me when it's ready. Perfect, I went shopping... I was bit worried because I was done shopping and I had perishables. Well as I said excellent customer service... my phone rang as I was walking out of store. My car is done, tire fixed and rotated! The whole process took less than 40 minutes! Love Costco!! read more

We came here about three weeks ago to purchase tires. They didn't have any in stock so they asked if we wanted them to order it. Said it'll take about two weeks...it took three. We know they don't have any control on shipping so not a problem. Someone called when the tires came in and set up an appointment. They said the installation will take between 1 to 1 1/2 hours...they took 45 minutes! Thumbs up! Up to now, we experienced great service until a worker drove our car out of the bay area... Another worker was guiding him out. When it was clear, he gunned the engine in REVERSE and WHIPPED our vehicle in a parking space. There was no cause for him to do that! What would have happened if a child ran in back of the car or he caused an accident if a car reversed out of a stall?! Instead of prioritizing individuals who had appointments, they made everyone wait in the same line when I walked up to the appointment drop-off register to drop off my keys. I lost my initial place in line when I arrived and had to go back to the line. The gentleman (Beard, tattoos, and name started with a B... Bronson) was very impolite and not empathetic. He doesn't say much, no thank you and was extremely rude. No one was monitoring the register while everyone was waiting. 12/15/24 - Noticed tire imbalance symbol while on the freeway so went to Costco to put air in tires. Passenger rear tire was not inflating properly and a customer noticed and assisted, eventually concluding something must be wrong with the tire. Made an appt for 12/19/24. Micheal explained what was done to check for punctures and advised of a possible issue with the stem valve. Most importantly, the spare truck tire needed air. Came in for a tire appointment. If you buy tires at Costco, you get great perks for maintenance such as "Rotation, balancing, inflation checks and flat repairs for the life of the tire." There is also included warranty coverage such as "road hazard and manufacturer's defects warranty." This is a great perk for being a Costco member. I bought my tires several months ago, and they give you a sticker on the inside of your car of when to schedule for your tire appointment, based on the mileage of your car. This was my first time using this perk, and scheduling online was very easy. I went in about 20 minutes before my appointment time, since sometimes there is a bit of a line. Everyone I've ever talked to here was so helpful and nice. I was quoted about an hour - hour and a half wait for my car to be done. Looking at other reviews, that seems to be the standard. They actually got it done in 45 minutes. That was more than enough time for me to get my steps in and look around Costco. Positives and negatives. Great deals here. We bought a battery from here that lasted for quite some time. But it died while still under some type of warranty- not sure if it was a manufacturer warranty and/or a Costco warranty. But either way, we brought it back, got a credit, and only had to pay $4 for a new battery. Pretty crazy but one of those pleasant surprises. On the negative side, service is hit or miss. When they are busy and/or understaffed, the counter remains unstaffed and people are just waiting around for guidance. Like is anyone working today. And possibly due to that busyness the staff can be a bit abrasive at times. read more

I had a nail in one of my tires in May 2021. My set of tires were purchased at Waipio Costco. I brought the car in to have the tire repaired. I was helped by Stephen Dela Cruz who examined the area and determined the tire was not repairable due to where puncture was. He searched other Costco stores for this tire model and size and could not find one. He mentioned due to the Covid19 situation tires were slow to come in from the manufacture. The tire could take six to eight weeks. I said, "lets do that." Stephen followed up and kept me in the loop. He called me a few weeks later saying they found tires in Texas and they will be shipping the tires to Costco Waipio. I got the call again that the tires came in and was able to schedule a tire service replacement appointment on the phone. I appreciated Stephen's follow through and help. I felt he went out of his way to make sure I got a replacement tire or tires. He called to update me on the situation. He was very friendly and professional. read more

Costco Waipio Tire Center is by far the BEST on the island! Every experience I've ever had has been great - with the staff going above and beyond. My most recent encounter was under not so great circumstances: I had a tire blowout. Long story short, I put the donut on and drove from Salt Lake to Mililani because that's where I had bought my tires and they were still under warranty. I knew I was pressing my luck as it was close to closing time. Alex was nice enough to check my car out right away, offer his advice on what type of tire to replace it with since the tires I ordered were discontinued. He even went as far as replacing my tire that night! Elijah was also an awesome help - he had the best customer service while ringing me up. Went to the Waipio Costco to buy a battery and waited in line for almost an hour to buy it. When I got Costco there was about 10 people in front of me with only one person at the counter. Two people were trying to buy tires not knowing what type, or year of the vehicle they had. It took the clerk about 15 minutes to help them to figure what they needed. I think they should have a line for New Tire Sales which takes time, and maybe one for Scheduled Appointment and Battery Sales. There should be a way of calling clerks from inside of the store to help out. Try waiting inline for an hour just to buy a battery, it's just too long. read more

This is the second time I needed my tire repaired due to a puncture. The difference was that this tire wasn't purchased from Costco. Just so happened that everybody else was doing a tire repair. I would say 6 in the group I was standing in line with. Anyway, even though my tire was not theirs, they still repaired my tire for about $12. On top of that, I believe they were able to take everybody else's vehicles too. Forgot to mention it was like 6 pm on a weekday. One of our tires had a leak. We showed up without a reservation just to ask what could be done. They fit us into their busy schedule and took less than two hours. Instead of replacing the tire, which would have cost $300, they patched it up for $10. The staff was very friendly. They called us when the car was done. I've had a lot of bad experiences with people who've worked on my car before so I know how hard it is to find a place that deals with cars that is trustworthy. Shout out to Kelsey at your tire department! He was patient enough to help me and teach me how to use the air contraption outside your Waipio Costco. He taught me how to find my air pressure (on the driver side door). I would always look for it on my tire. He showed me how to adjust the air pressure on the beep beep thing that fills the air. Got my tires all 4 brand new from here. I really enjoy that they will do rotation, fixes, etc for free under the warranty. I was across the street at the tony nissan and they recommended getting a rotation which would of cost me more $$$. So I highly recommend buying tires here and taking advantage of the huge $$ you save in free rotations and other stuff. The only negative thing I would say is the line does get a bit long and something you are just waiting and waiting. I tried calling the last time, last week, and the phone would just ring and ring. Nice guys working most of the time but you can't set an appointment without buying tires and you can't buy tires or know if they have yours in stock by calling in cause they never.ever. answer so you literally have to go in to wait probably 15 min if at least one person is in line for them to tell you tires are in stock which price wise are about the same or more than most tire shops.. the free balance an rotation would be great perqs but appointments are usually 4 days to a week out once you figure out how to make an appointment online.. which you can't do from your Costco app you have to do it on the other website.. just go to Nu-image in wahiawa.. support local and be done in a day or two.. all in all 3 stars only because the guys working are talented but the whole system isn't there fault and should hire more people to work the desk and process customers more efficiently read more

While having my truck's oil changed, I was informed that my tires would need to be replaced if not now, very soon. These were my original tires from when I first purchased my truck in 2013, lasting over 75,000. The next day, I went to Costco Tire Center 20 minutes before they opened and was 2nd in line. Boy, was I glad I arrived early...when the doors opened, there were approximately 15 people waiting behind me. After a brief 5 minute wait, Jayson assisted me with my purchase. He showed me the tires they had available that would fit my truck and went to the back to place them aside to prevent it from being sold. We then went to my truck for an inspection, where he jokingly said, "You sure got your money's worth from these tires". After paying for the tires, I went into the store to shop. Less than an hour later, I received a call from Jayson telling me that my truck was done and ready for pick up. Came in as a walk in, waited roughly 2.5-3 hours and tire was good as new. The staff inside is friendly and respectful. Even though I saw their patience being tested seeing rude people interact with them. Kill them with kindness. Something about holiday season makes people more angry than usual. The service is average at best but the wait to check in your vehicle is just terrible. I can check out in the store in about 2 minutes but need to wait in the tire center to check in my vehicle for almost an hour. They need to change their process in there and get more personnel to help. I came in and was the 10th person in line. When you consider only one person at the counter and each person takes about 5-10 minutes it's no wonder I waited for an hour. People with a scheduled time slot should be able to just drop of their keys with someone instead of waiting in line. People buying new tires should be put off on a computer and let them select what they want and buy it online. Many of them I think are suprised of the cost of 4 new tires and start to call their spose like to get an approval from them because of the cost. No matter how Costco wants to fix this problem they need to address this issue as more and more people are going there for service. read more

The absolute worst service I have ever received. We brought our ONLY car in for new tires (zero prior issues) just to get it back and it leak air from 37PSI To 6PSI EVERY SINGLE DAY until they decided they weren't busy enough to get us in. We have a prior claim that they scratched our rims and they actually cracked our rims and the manager was completely rude when we wanted to add it to the claim when there was zero prior issue of cracked rims until they got ahold of it. I just needed air on my tires. I recently had a shoulder surgery and wasn't able to take of it myself so I thought about the tire shop. Stephanie greeted me with a smile. She dropped what she was doing and asked me what kind of help did I need. After I've explained my situation, she smiled and said no problem. She has a very friendly attitude. I would give this place zero stars but yelp won't allow no stars. The service was unbelievably slow. There were a total of five technicians in the shop. We tried calling in advance four times to find out if they had a battery on hand because the website didn't offer much help. The website only told a customer the type of battery but never the inventory. As a result, the customer had to call to find out if the center had the battery on hand. After four tries of an unanswered phone calls, we decided to go down to the store. There was no one at the counter for ten minutes and there already was two customers waiting at the register. Because of HI GOV and their darn rail construction I constantly get nails in my tire! One night driving home after work I notice a sound and when I pulled over a HUGE bolt had pierced my drivers tire. It was in the middle of our lock down, 5:30-6:00 at night and everywhere around me was closed or booked with appointments. Costco Tire Center workers were AMAZING! Ordered tires online and received an email that stated, "Tire shop will contact you when tires have arrived." Didn't receive a call so I tracked my order that showed it was delivered 10 day ago. I called (Tire Center opens at 7 am) and called and called until someone finally picked up. They had to "look for the tires" but called me back and apologized that no one called then said I could make an appointment or walk-in. The next appointment was 3 weeks out! I had no choice but to attempt a "walk-in" which meant standing in line at 6:27 am on a Friday [holiday] morning. There were already 2 people in line when I got there, they said they were there since 6:00 am! By 6:55 am there were 12 people in line. (tip: bring a folding/beach chair) They let us in at 7:05 am. I was helped promptly and was out by 7:15 am. I requested to keep one of my tires which they bagged and neatly placed in my trunk. I was quoted 2 hours but was called in 1 hour and 45 minutes. My new tires had green caps which I was told indicates high Nitrogen in the tire. Overall, friendly and fast service. Costco carries reputable brands at good prices.
