Today I woke up to a flat tire. The day before I noticed a chunk out of my passenger front fire. I took it to Mike's Tire anf two technicians looked at it and said it was completely fine. I believed them and thanked them for their time. Clearly, it was not okay. I drive this vehicle for Uber so passenger safety is very important to me. I called Mike's to let thrm know ow what happened and the guy could care less, tried to sell me a tire, and gave no apologies. Called Pono,they looked at inventory found a used tire and got me in immediately. They were very friendly and the swap only took 15 minutes. I have new found respect for Pono Tires. Excellent work.

I had a slow leak and told a plug was $10. An hour later, I was charged $26 ($1 dollar tax) because the guy said a patch was better. He didn't give me the option to make that decision. After running a whole bunch of potholes after this Kona Low storm, I have a slow leak again in one of my tire. Not sure if it can be repaired (I was putting air every day), I brought my spare new tire. My thinking was if the tire cannot be plugged or patched, I will have them replace with my own tire. The guy working could not find the leak (he had informed me that they are now charging $35 for a patch now) so he suggested I change out my tire. I agreed. I asked him if the price was still $25 since they had increased their price for a patch. He said they charge $25 for the dismount, mount and balance service. I told him I will take my old tire back. Before he put my tire back, he wanted me to pay and the invoice says $35. I told him he charged me the wrong price. He said the additional $10 was for tire disposal. But I was taking my tire back. He said they charge the additional $10 no matter what. Although the $10 is not a lot of money, it's the principle behind this. They advertise $25 patch and $25 for change-out tire service, but when you get there, you realize it's a bait and switch tactics. I will never going to use their service no more.

We built our business based on trust and avoid anything that will break that trust." This is false advertising. My husband went there for a simple service regarding his tires. He agreed to their premium price. Without going into detail, there was a serious safety issue with my husband's car. My husband informed them about the problem; however the representative was reluctant to investigate the problem. The representative stood by his "experienced service staff." So my husband went to a reputable tire company to investigate the problem. The company discovered and concluded that American Tire Company negligently installed the tires improperly. Moreover, American Tire Company installation standards are generally set for commercial vehicles and NOT according to the specific type of vehicle that requires service. There is a sign in their office disclaiming that they are not responsible for any damages to the owner's rims but they claim to be very careful. Now I understand why they posted that disclaimer in the office. I issued a complaint with BBB. American Tire Company failed to offer any reasonable settlement. The Honolulu location is not trustworthy. I remember when the company was on Colburn St. when the company first started. SHAMEFUL! ! ! Maybe this location suits commercial vehicles only. "Quality repair services" ..."perform accurate and friendly auto repairs and tire services" is false advertisement. "We maintain a culture of respect, honesty, and commitment that extends to our people; both internal and external." These are all false statements in their website. "Caveat emptor! ! !" I spoke to Daniel, who explained things to me clearly and welcomed me in when I was ready to get the service. Kainoa was also very helpful. I had shown up early one morning, without an appointment, hoping to get in for the service, as my Ohana were visiting and I wanted to take them around the island. Kainoa got me in immediately and the usual hour and a half time allotted for an alignment went by more quickly than expected and we were on our way. There was a part I needed to replace in the back tire, which the mechanic found during the alignment. After a few weeks of waiting, the part came in and I took my car back to American Tire. They took care of everything promptly and efficiently. Even gave me a ride home (because they weren't too busy and had an extra person on the clock. This service is not usually provided, just fyi. They went out of their way, instead of having me wait for the work to get done plus the realignment, which would take approx 4 hours. Dre was super nice and we talked story on our short drive. Once finished, Dre came back to pick me up. He's a very nice young man. These gentlemen are professionals and yet, make you feel like family. Highly recommend American Tire Company, Kapolei
