It's a wherehouise store, you find all sorts of large things to buy, big selection of stuff, big parking lot though it's usualy pretty full. Also the parking lot can be a bit of a pain to go through as there are often pepole walking to and from the buoilding and some don't look at where they are going. Easy acsess and it's not to hard to find what you want with a little searching. Lot's of tv's and electronics, the dvd section has shrunk down to almost nothing now but they do have a large selection of kids and adult books. Membership includes petrol so geting a discount fill uup here is always good. Checkout lines vary but can get rediculisly long even when they are staffed. Overall if you like bullk items this is a good place to shop. read more

I like Costco. I'm a member. I like their concept. I like many of their prices and quantities. I do NOT like this location. Circuitous to get to and lots of pushy, grumpy, rude customers. I prefer the Midtown location. Easier access and a bit more pleasant. Not sure why that is but that's been my experience. I try NOT to use the Lenexa location but I was out this way. Perhaps because it is a popular location and population concentration. I had a guy keep pushing his cart into my behind in the check out line and the third time, I turned around and he just kind of stared at me like deer in the headlights. Lots of other angry and impatient people there that day too but it seems like it's that way every time I decide to go ahead and give it another try. Ugh! read more

I have a secret love affair with Costco! I like a good deal. But I love a really really good deal, and Costco has them! And you get snacks while you shop. Who doesn't love butlered hot d'oeuvres?!! This Costco is my main Costco. I also have a side Costco, in midtown. Two weeks ago I had to do the dirty and head to Walmart. My steam mop had cut out and my nephew who is still crawling was on his way over. Walmart had the brand I was looking for, with the features that I wanted so I picked it up. Fast forward to last weekend I'm reading my Costco coupons. Wouldn't you know it, my steam mop, plus more features, and more attachments is the same regular price. And for the next two weeks its on sale for $20 off! SCORE! So guess who has to head back to Walmart and do the dirty a second time! But what will make it really worth my time is taking back my steam mop and two boxes of Ziplock vacuum clothing storage bags I paid $16 each for. Costco has assortment of 15 bags in different sizes for $19. But wait... they are on sale, so now they are $15. SCORE! The staff here is always friendly, and they are always working with hustle. If the lines are long, its not because they are up there taking their sweet time. Its because Aunt Buellah picked up the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans with no tag. Make no mistake about it, if you work for Costco, you work hard! There are always bargains at Costco. The snack bar rocks too. My wife loves the ice cream bars hand dipped and rolled in nuts. F'ing delicious! And they have good pizza and sausages too. The large pizza is a great value to take in to the office and treat your team. Grab an economy size bottle of Tums while you are there too. read more

100 gallons of mustard for everyone! Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration... I'm a CostCo member and so should you! CostCo has some really good deals on food and beyond (I booked my honeymoon through CostCo travel and it worked out well for us). To really make the most of a CostCo membership, I'd suggest having a large freezer to store the bulk frozen foods or meat you are freezing. If you've been to a CostCo, this one is basically the same as all the others minus alcohol (Oh, Kansas...), if that is something you care about. As far as CostCo stores go, I would generally give them all 4 stars but this one has two things working against it. First, the parking situation. The parking lot is a weird layout due to the site and layout of everything and the parking lot is usually FULL. Like really full. The store is really busy and the odd layout just make the parking a bit of a cluster. (traffic at the intersection of 95th is also a little wonky sometimes but nothing too serious). Secondly, this store doesn't have any self checkout lines. I love the self checkout lanes. People tend to be less willing to go to them and therefore the lines are shorter and you get through that whole process so much quicker, but not here. You've got to go through the standard lines which just means longer lines... This CostCo is pretty standard but keep in mind the parking is wonky, no self checkout and no booze. read more

I love this Costco and it is my favorite location by far in the Ks/mo area. The samples happen daily but more are out on the weekends of course, around 11:30-2 usually. It is definitely more spacious than the other locations. Workers here are friendly and quick. I really like their layout on their products, seems to make the most sense compared to the other Costcos. read more

My favorite Costco store in the metro area. Staff is friendly and willing to help if needed with larger items. The layout of this store is perfect too. I am a tried and true Costco fan!!! I however recently transferred my perscriptions to a local Walgreens b/c it can take FOREVER to get Rx and a lot of times I show up and they haven't started filling yet. They will say 30-40 minute wait. No text alerts when ready. No app to use for refill. Long lines. The thing I hate about this location is the RUDE demo staff. Not all but most are very rude, monotone, will keep giving their monotone speal after you've walked away. Makes you want to sneek up, grab a snack, and RUN!!! If you want a super excellent demo experience go to KC/Linwood and Main. They greet you, invite you to sample, and thank you. So nice. You can also purchase wine and spirits at that location which can help you deal with the Lenexa demo staff..... I buy all paper products here, all laundry/bath/dish soaps, swifter products. Maybe it's me but I think the fruit prices are higher and I can do better at Sprouts. Lettuce is hands down cheap here for the Romaine. Eggs, Yes!! Bakery, every time!!! Huge cakes for under $20.00 and they taste great. I love the seasonal desserts made on site. Plan on getting there early for major holidays. They often have a line across the store waiting for Pumpkin pies, bring them out freshly made on pallets and watch them DISAPEPAR!!! Hugely entertaining. My Hickley water home delivery service was through Costco and I think I'm saving money on that. That demo lady is amazingly nice!!! Got a great pair of Bolle sunglasses during the sunglass event for $60.00. Speedo swimsuits for under $20.00. There are just some things you won't find as nice for as much or less anywhere. The Rotisserie chicken are twice the size as Wal-Mart for less than $5.00. I get all my fuel there and save a lot. I use GasBuddy to see just how great a deal I'm getting. I just don't enjoy shopping at the Overland Park location because it's backwards. If you're a Costco fan, you understand that statement. read more

My parents are members of Sam's my aunt is a member of Costco. So I've been to both places. There are plusses and minuses of both. I can see why some people are members of both clubs. The deserts alone are reasons to be a member of Costco. The cakes here are AMAZING. The samples here are wonderful, you could come here and have lunch just on the samples! Wow. The staff seems friendly and even when we were here two days before Christmas and in a long line, it went very quickly. I was great! Parking is pretty good too. Lots of close spaces. read more

Only have two disappointments with Costco, kind of petty however I do believe that Costco takes better care of their employees than their competitors and that's why I have loved Costco for years. One issue is when you get use to where product is, and you go to pick it up someone has relocated the pallet somewhere else in the warehouse. that is fine however I will not spend a lot of time looking for that product and end up going to Wal-Mart usually to pick it up. Second one is when covid hit they stopped serving onions for the hot-dogs (also the pizza) and they put the hot-dogs in a paper bag. that was the highlight of my experience when going to Costco and we would go twice a week for that. As of now I have not eaten at the food court for some time now, however myself and my wife when we do shop at Costco we now drive over to Sam's Club and eat at their food court. I would never have thought how much better the hot-dog tastes with onion and Sauerkraut which is unbelievably good. the only issue now is my wife wants to let the Costco membership expire and switchover to Sam's Club instead of going to both warehouses. not sure if we will do that however very disappointed if we do switch over. To Sam's customers they do make a good lunch and stand behind condiments for their product that is served. read more

This location at I-35 and 95th St. is near where I live so I shop here regularly. It has the usual array of goods in (usually) large sizes and quantities at great prices. There are always surprises, like Sicilian Volcano Lemon Juice instead of bottled RealLemon, or a gourmet dried mushroom mix that includes expensive morels. They carry economy-size plastic clamshells of palmiers and madeleines. Lots of good-quality cheeses at very good prices, excellent smoked salmon and crab meat, and on and on and on. The downside is that, unlike Sam's Club (conveniently located across I-35 from Costco) they're always moving stuff around and the aisles aren't labeled, so the things you're looking for frequently disappear from where you're used to searching for them. That happened with the palmiers, for example -- they used to be with the cookies and baked goods, then vanished. Now they've moved to the candy and snack aisles that I rarely shop and it was just by chance that I discovered them there. You also have to traipse up and down the aisles to find stuff because of the lack of marking and signage, and keeping things where you expect to find them. Still, it's a good shopping experience and good value and quality. I want to sing the praises of Costco's car-buying program. Last November I suddenly found myself having to buy a car, but I was at a particularly low emotional point in my life and the prospect of going to dealers and haggling seemed overwhelming. Enter Costco. On the basis of a friend's recommendation, who said he'd bought numerous cars through Costco, I picked up one of their brochures. By calling or going online you can research cars available and then get hooked up to a dealer selling new or "pre-owned" vehicles. In the K.C. area they didn't have that many used car dealers signed up yet, but they did have a big Toyota dealership as part of their program and that's one of the cars I was considering. I went through the program (online) to make an appointment with the dealership's Costco representative and, after looking at several possibilities, found a great 2007 white Corolla LE model with only 35,000 miles on it (a returned leased vehicle). There was no haggling at all. The Costco program saved me about $900 over the asking price of the car, and I drove off the lot with the car, good financing (cheaper than my credit union) and insurance (from a separate company) three hours after I arrived. Painless! I can't say how much I appreciated being able to buy this way and not go through a lot of pressured salesmanship at a time when I just wasn't up for facing that! There have been no problems with the car since I bought it and Costco periodically sends an e-mail basically checking to see if I'm still satisfied with things. I am!!! If you want to avoid the typical car-buying rigamarole, this is the way to go! I'm very glad I did! read more

Today .. Costco you disappoint. I call to pre order pizza and your phone system is out of order. I check out and you throw my items in my cart like Aldi's. I go to the food court and you have zero ice in your machines .. But your cashier tells nobody when they purchase the drinks. Every 5 minutes he says .. Oh that side was working earlier. I order a pizza and I watch it sit and and sit and sit .. Growing old and hard while I drink my almost warm soda and my groceries melt. Maybe I shouldn't spend that $50 for the membership again if I can get the same service at the Aldi's grocery down the road. I am very disappointed. read more

Costco makes my life so much easier. All I have to do is drive there and buy my necessities in large quantities, which frees up a lot of time for other things. I only have to go to Target about once a month and always have a lot of back-up stuff at home like lunch bags, trash bags, deodorant, etc. I don't really enjoy shopping except for roller derby gear, so saving all that time and frustration really helps. Costco has delicious food, so I only have to pick up my Shatto at Hy-Vee occasionally as well. read more

Costco itself is pretty amazing, but I would never recommend using the pharmacy at the Lenexa, KS location! The staff is rude and completely incompetent. I've tried to have prescriptions filled there several times, and something always goes wrong on their end. Also, all of the staff acts like they are constantly mad and overworked. Customer service was outstanding today. I forgot the size on my furnace filters. On a whlm I decided to check with customer service since I purchased them there before. In a matter of two minutes they pulled my last purchase (a year ago) up and gave me the size and saved me a trip back home! The store was packed which meant the parking lot was full today, but I waited less than one minute in line. This issue boggles my mind...not about Costco but about customers in general. The shopping carts were all over the place outside and the employees were running like they were trying out for the Olympics to collect carts and take them up to the staging area. However, the carts were coming out the door as fast as they were going in. Why do customers walking into Costco or any other store not take a cart in with them? They are already walking from the car into the store and pushing a cart in seems so logical to me. Has anybody out there in Yelp Land ever done a study on this? I would love to see the results of it. I wish all stores operated their carts like Aldi's. Pay a quarter to get a cart. Return the cart and get your quarter back, if not, somebody else gets your quarter for taking the cart back. Consequently, I never see any carts in the Aldi parking lot...ever. read more

I'm a recent Costco convert. I have to say that this store is cleaner and the lines faster than the Sam's across the highway. Costco seems to also carry more organic items than Sam's and I appreciate that. The associates from check-in at the door, to the pharmacy, and back to the service desk have all been pleasant when I have interacted with them. My only annoyance is their credit card policy (no VIsa) but I suppose I can live with that and run it as debit. read more

Line up in single file, make sure you are facing the correct direction, doesn't matter if you are blocking the aisles, don't look behind before you make a right angle turn, park your basket on the heels of the person ahead of you, if you have kids make sure that you and your cart and your kids are aligned perfectly abreast to block the entire aisle, always come blasting out of a side aisle into the mainstream without looking, come to an abrupt stop at every free food dispensary even if people are behind you, gather like sheep for free fat snacks, and whatever you do..........don't ever park your vehicle facing east if you are buying gas. Even if cars are lined up to infinity and only one side of the pump islands have cars.......do not ever try to gas up facing east. After 15 years of having my costco business membership I am done. Seriously, take a calculator and do the math, this place is no bargain. read more

Five stars for their return policy. I know of the stories where people abuse their policy but I believe they fixed it. My car jack broke and I brought it in 3 years after buying it without a receipt. The lady looked up my buying history and found it. They didn't have any in stock at the store but found a branch that had it and just refunded my money in cash. Very easy. I get more of a hassel from Walmart for my returns. read more

Remodeling a store and switching locations of departments is not compatible with customer service. At Christmas especially, the are few if any people available to direct customers to the right locations because of the hordes of sales that get wrung up at this time of year. Disgusting is a word that befits the experience I had at Costco (Lenexa) today 12-22-15. I should not have to ask,"where is the ice cream moved to" presuming I could get the attention of a clerk to help in the first place. I may have to check out Sam's Club. read more

I dread the parking lot and the check out lines, but everything in between those times is great. There's only a few items I get in bulk. It's the rest of their merchandise that I like, and for the most part, you do come out getting a good deal. That's even with the price that comes with a membership. I'm not much of a sampler, but there are plenty of people that love the multiple free food and drink samples they have out. Their meat and seafood department is great, but you don't really get much of a savings on them. I think that's where they make up some of the discounts on other items. I do like their rotisserie chicken. It looks like the bakery puts out some really good items, but that's just based on visual observation. I've gotten fruits and veggies here before, but not that much just because I like to get them at the regular grocery store I go to. You never know what they'll have down every aisle, and that's part of what I like about Costco. I've walked out many times with something extra that I wasn't planning on getting. I'm not sure how much closer this location is to my house, but I really do like it better than the south OP location. I think it's much easier to navigate around the store and it just never seems as busy. They have pretty much everything the other location does, but it makes for a more relaxing shopping experience when it's not as busy. I can actually shop here with my two young children and not feel like I'm going to lose my mind! This allows me to reward my toddler with a frozen yogurt (that is monstrous enough to share) on our way out! read more

On march 1, 2014, I went to Costco to inquire about the possibility of getting my deli and surprise 80th birthday cake one day early. I was feeding 70 people. It was meant with a smile and an of course. They apologized to me that I would have to come back in a few hours but were aware that a storm was on its way. i am originally from Topeka and our only option for a wholesale shopping experience was Sam's Club. I shopped there regularly and noticed the service was just like shopping at Walmart, which is not very good. I have been shopping Costco for about 4 months now and the service is always excellent. They commonly have people at the checkout lines who offer to help if you need it and the cashiers have always been polite and professional. We purchased tires from Costco and yesterday went for the free tire rotation. I mentioned I wanted the best tread on the front and was told it's their policy to put the tires with the deepest tread on the back since the front is heavier. I pointed out it is a front wheel drive car but that didn't matter to them. This is flat wrong and has made me lose confidence in their ability. By that logic you would never rotate your tires since the front wears at a faster rate. I guess I'll take it somewhere and pay to have it done correctly. read more
