If you've read my reviews, you'd know I don't take risks with Mexican food. But this was really good. My party and I really liked our food. Everything was fresh. We were the only ones in there and it's a good feeling when you place an order then hear the grill sizzle. Ahhhhh...... that tells me our food was made fresh. And it taste like it too! The cotijas burrito only comes with asada, roasted serrano Chiles, Monterey Jack cheese, and creamy sauce . But I added beans and rice. Look at it, that thing was huge! We also got the asada fries. Great portion for a "full" serving. They have regular and full. Got the full. The meat was soft, well seasoned and it wasn't chewy. The asada torta was on point. Didn't have leftovers lol. Everything went so well. Enchilada plate was soooo good. The sauce was spicy but not too much to ruin the taste. Beans and rice were proper too. The young lady that helped us out was super cool, friendly and attentive. Guided us through the menu and answered all our questions. my mom and I went to the drive-through at 7 PM we got out of the line at 7:25 and mind you there was just one car in front of us. we got home and our food was ice cold and with brown guacamole... the food was terrible. if I could I would give this is zero star rating read more

We ordered the fish taco special in drive thru and asked for the cream on the side. After double asking at the window, they guaranteed that they were done as asked and yet we get home to find the fish tacos with cream inside them. We called to make them aware and John the owner, and after sending him pictures said don't worry about bringing back the tacos and he would honor the receipt. When we got there later, Tiffany had an attitude and questioned us not bringing the tacos back. I don't need your free tacos cause you got it wrong the first time! I was trying to give an opportunity to have them rectify the experience but the service failed all the way around and the food wasn't so good that it is worth the attitude, dirty restrooms (which I won't even put pictures out of courtesy for customers) and inconvenience of having to come back. read more

Absolutely appalled at the service we just received at the drive thru window. The woman working the window with glasses, brown hair and bad attitude. She entered one of our orders incorrectly, we let her know when we received the food and seeing it was incorrect on the receipt. She proceed to say it was our fault because she repeated the order and "we said yes." She did not repeat the order to us, she said your "total will be at the window." Instead of correcting her mistake, she was extremely rude to us and shut the drive thru window on us mid conversation. She has no place in a service job with the current way she just handled a simple mistake. Please train her better. This was our second time coming here, because the food was so good the first time, but we will not be returning. 6:20pm on 1/22/23 Update: I was reached out to by the restaurant. I am so disappointed. I've been going to Cotija's for years. I had no idea they were in the IE. I started going to the ones in San Diego. The Hashbrown Burrito [was] my go-to. This establishment has a B grade. As I was passing through on the 215 my stomach led me to the drive thru. I couldn't resist the 99 cent mini fish tacos. I ordered 2 and the cashier asked if you sure babe. She was so funny. I could sense her bubbly personality through the speaker. The tacos were amazing!!!! The batter, the tortilla, the sauce....drool. I went back the next day because living in San Diego, I didn't know when I would get all that goodness again. Walked inside today around 6. My Wife and I and an elderly couple stood in line for about 5 min. The cashier didn't not even turn around once to tell us she'll be with us to help us. Just by passing by the place seemed empty, but we decided to give it a chance. And I must say we were not disappointed. Ordered the asada cali burrito and the surf n turf burrito. The surf and turf was a ginormous burrito in wrapped in two tortillas and very flavorful for only 12.99 Was amazed at the amount of food, for the price we received. I'm awfully confused on the good ratings here. Showed up wanting a carnitas burrito, left with more than half of it in the trash. Zero effort in the burrito. Carnitas were dry, almost choked, fortunately they shoved an overwhelming amount of salsa in it or the ambulance would have been on their way to the restaurant. So I gave this place another shot. But what the f*** is this?! Last night, we went and order food, again. After so long not buying from you guys. So the food wasn't bad. But I order arroz con leche. And when I opened it, looked like this. (Picture below) one it was warm, so it went sour, when I taste it, it had a sour taste. Two I've never seen arroz con leche look like this, all curdle. Three, it has like this gelatin all around, and if you move it, it just spread. I'm so beyond disgusted by this. I threw it away, along with my money. So sorry I'm not coming back to this place. Save your money. This place leaves much to be disered in cleanliness. The ladies are nice and helpful. The Tacos are not too bad. The beans were colorless, pastey, and tasteless, like reconstituted powdered beans. The rice was bland. I will not even go into the condition of the bathroom. I could hear two or three women in the kitchen carrying on with a happy conversation. I wondered why one of them was not cleaning. Even the windows in this place needed to be cleaned. Super impressed with Cotija's! What a find! Even though they have a drive-thru, we went in to order since it was our first time here. The restaurant was super clean which is something I could not help noticing. Yajaira, the cashier was super nice and answered all our questions and we didn't have to wait too long for our order. We got a shrimp burrito ($8.49), a combo #20 (carne asada burrito, 3 rolled tacos with guac, and a med drink), an El Grande Burrito, 1 five rolled tacos and a large drink and our total was $43.05. It was an amazing amount of food and everything tasted great! (Just check out my picture of the burrito comparison!). We will definitely be back soon! read more

Cotija's burritos are HUGE! Seriously, see my picture and see the size of the burrito in comparison to the salsa cups. I would estimate it was at least 10 inches long and probably 1.5 lbs. I ordered a carne asada burrito and I liked how it was just asada, pico de gallo, and guacamole. There were no beans or rice so you get more bang for your buck, but I'm sure they would add them in if you wanted. The flour tortilla also has a slightly flaky quality, which I also liked. The only area of improvement is in the asada flavor. I thought it could use a little more seasoning because after eating half of the burrito, I couldn't really taste the asada anymore and everything just tasted like salsa & guac. But overall, it was still delicious and filling. The price is going up ($8 now) but it's still worth it! I'll have to try the carne asada fries next. read more

The food here was great and they have very large portion sizes for good prices. The cashier was extremely busy and did her best at attending and catering to everyone's needs(busy drive thru and busy dining room) the manager was running late apparently so I'd say they need better management.
