You now order from a kiosk menu, which has photos, descriptions, and current prices. It was quick and easy. I ordered Ye Beg Alicha, which the menu describes as a lamb soup. I would refer to it as a stew, exactly what I was hoping for. It was a large serving of many, small pieces of lamb, in a spiced, buttery stew and comes with a small salad. It was delicious. My husband had the veggie platter, which came with Cabbage Wot (cabbage, plus a few carrots and potatoes), Miser Wot (spicy red lentil stew), Gomen Wot (collard greens), Shiro Wot (chickpea stew), Kik Alicha (mild split pea stew), and a small salad. He's not a big fan of collard greens, but ate and enjoyed everything. He found the Miser Wot particularly spicy, which he appreciated. Both our entrees were served on a large piece of Injera, and also came with 3 rolled up Injera pieces. We both love their Injera, which has a perfect sour flavor, and the texture of 100% teff. It takes a while to get the food, but I like the fact that that means they cook from scratch with fresh ingredients. As mentioned, Injera (darker and sourer than other Ethiopian restaurants we tried) is a good example. Service was warm and welcoming, as they state on the web site as a goal they strive for.

They have now become my go to place for Ethiopian when I am in the Sacramento area. We were warmly greeted when we arrived and placed our order at the counter. They also serve breakfast, speciality coffees and a variety of drinks. We ordered the veggie platter, gored gored and chicken tibs. Absolutely delicious!!! The shiro was the best I have had in a long time. Everything was hot and fresh. The dressing on the salad really stood out and the leaves were nice and crispy. The restaurant is small but welcoming. You sit where you would like. After placing your order and paying at the counter, and they will bring the food out to you. Kind Bean Cafe is located in a small strip mall. I highly recommend. We will be back.

I set my pickup on a Sunday at 12 pm. There is a number to notify the bakery you're there for your pickup. Unfortunately, they were so slammed no one picked up and it went to vm. I couldn't go inside since I had my 1 year old asleep in the car. I parked near the front and knocked on the window. An employee saw me and gave me excellent and expeditious customer service! Respectful, kind, and appreciative for my business. I wish I got his name! He walked the cake all the way to my car and made sure I took a peak to see if my cake was correct. We ordered the Strawberry White Chocolate Mousse cake for my son's 18th birthday. Not super sweet even though white chocolate can be that way. The mousse was light and not too decadent. This cake is one to please many! We're still eating the leftovers 7 days later. As long as it's in an airtight container it'll taste just as amazing as the first day.

Ummm... I have mixed feelings about this place…read more Let's start with the positives because there are plenty. The cakes, pastries, and beverages were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. In fact, the cakes impressed me so much that I can honestly see myself ordering future birthday and celebration cakes from here. The ordering process was smooth, and the décor is gorgeous, making it a really inviting place to spend some time. I enjoyed the bakery so much that I came back a week later to try lunch. Unfortunately, that's where things took a turn. I ordered the burger, and someone in my party had the salmon burger. Both were incredibly bland. It honestly tasted like no salt or seasoning had been added at all. If you prefer very lightly seasoned food, this might be right up your alley, but it just wasn't for me. The iced tea also comes unsweetened, so keep that in mind if you're expecting sweet tea. One small thing that could also be improved is the ordering setup. There are separate lines for the bakery and the kitchen, but when it gets busy it can be a little confusing--especially since you order first and then find a seat. Overall, I'd absolutely return for the pastries, cakes, and drinks. The bakery side is outstanding. As for lunch, though, it left me wanting a lot more flavor.

Austin, the manager, is such a friendly & hospitable person to chat with. He is passionate about the flavor creations he tinkers with, & all the syrups are made in-house. He's happy to explain the menu to new customers. We enjoyed the seasonal pumpk.n spice as a foam.top iced latte last time, & found it just as tasty as a hot latte this time around. It is really flavorful, & I wanna say it has a delightful floral note. We also tried the seasonal mint.d mocha as a hot latte & liked it. It was subtly flavored, but enjoyable. I think the syrup settles to the bottom, so swirl as you sip. Neither drink is too sweet, & both were at a warm vs hot temperature. We ordered the cafe.bar.wich with a side of green chile lime sauce. It was packed with flavor & rich from ingredients like buttery bread, mayo, & bacon. The lime sauce is a must--a delicious bright note that cuts through all the richness. We previously tried the cruz (very interesting combo of strong coffee and chai with a distinct lavender floral note) & a club.nini (another tasty, but super rich sandwich), which were great. This is part of the Sacramento Youth Center, so a very worthwhile organization to support. The menu offers many memorable & unique flavor combinations. They offer a drinks rewards card--buy 6 & you get your 7th free!

There is seating inside as well as some tables and chairs outside as well. I found the coffee and food at The Mill to be excellent. There are many coffee and tea selections as well as some pastries in the front section and waffles. The waffles seem to be the only hot food item there, but it is very popular and is an item totally worth getting. The waffles is an excellent size and has a crispy outside and chewing interior. It comes with powdered sugar all over the top and your choice of jam or maple syrup. I went with the jam and I really enjoyed the waffle with it. The coffee was of very high quality. I had the cold brew with their sweet cream on the top. The cold brew was strong and the cream had a premium stiffness to it that standard coffee places don't do. It was not very sweet and for those who enjoy their coffee with less sugar, this is great. I found the coffee enjoyable throughout my time with it as I sat in the cafe hanging out with my friend. Now with only two people taking orders and making drinks during the lunch rush, the line and wait times are much longer. We ordered pizza and fries and I could see them sitting by the kitchen for about 10 minutes before they were brought to us, so they arrived barely warm. I also ordered two sides of their house-made ranch (which cost extra) but only received one. When I asked a server about the second ranch I had already paid for, she brushed me off with attitude. I had to ask multiple times and wait another 10+ minutes just to get something we were already charged for. Overall the service felt disorganized and slow. Unfortunately I won't be returning to this location anytime soon.
