Today I decided to try something I haven't had yet at Dugout Deli. I went with the Hammerin Hank. It consists of Hot Roast Beef and Pepper Jack on Sourdough without BBQ Sauce. The Pepper Jack is so gooey and creamy. Their Sourdough is so good and chewy. I am glad I tried something outside of my usual. This sandwich shop is so good. Amazing!! So good. A nice clean place with several two and four top tables surrounded by baseball memorabilia. Be sure to use the address on their website (Arden Way near Watt) and not what Google tells you (Cottage Way). They moved some time ago and Google has yet to update. We had the Wild Pitch (Chicken breast with your choice of melted cheese and spicy ranch sauce), the Say Hey Kid (Hot pastrami and your choice of melted cheese), macaroni salad, and soft drinks. The Wild Pitch was on Sourdough (their bread is terrific!), huge in size and was full of chicken chunks. Very tasty and a definite do again. The Pastrami was on Sweet French (once again, wonderful), also huge and loaded with lean, thin sliced, Pastrami (probably from Sysco). I am some what of a Pastrami freak and this definitely wasn't my style. The Mac Salad was not home made and likely straight out of the bucket from Sysco. Basic salad is the best way to describe it. The sandwiches are somewhat limited in terms of proteins. Chicken and turkey dominate the starting lineup with pastrami and roast beef are pinch hitters. Totally missing are the traditional deli standards such as salami, mortadella, ham, and capicola combination sandos. Despite what the website says, they do have fountain sodas. It is Pepsi centered but lacks Pepsi Zero (it does have Diet but not the DW's fav). The website says the Pure Leaf Tea is $2.75 but was billed at $4.00. Better Pastrami and salads would have made this a 5 rating rather than a 4. We will return but only for the bread and chicken/turkey. read more

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's a deli so a common deli approach. All the subs are baseball themed. Close to the Hilton and very reasonably priced. I was shocked to see the size of the subs. This place is down to earth and not inflated like most places. The subs are absolutely amazing! This is a must go to place if you are visiting Sacramento. First time visiting this town and I'm driving down the road in the middle of the day and the traffic is reduced to one lane. I merge to the left but as I'm doing that I see a guy holding a sign that says, "Traffic sucks, our sandwiches don't!" Made a mental note to come back here and was glad I did. The sandwiches are so good! I'd compare it to Ike's down here in So Cal, but they're better. I went in around closing time and was able to score the Bambino on Dutch crunch bread. Garlic sauce is fantastic, but the bread is falling apart and they forgot my bacon. So... I'm seriously bummed. The Deli is really clean and the staff are super nice. I've been eyeing this spot for months. Since it's close to work, and glad that I did. I ordered the tri-tip salad. This is a huge salad with tons of meat. You can pick your dressing. Also, the tri-tip is cooked every day. And you can tell. Because this salad is delicious. The meat is cut to a perfect size for the salad. The flavor of the meat is really good and seasoned well. I would say this is a must get item. Also ordered the Bamino sandwich with sliced wheat bread. So good. This is a hot sandwich. The size is huge. Guaranteed to fill you up. Or save some for later. This place is awesome!!! I'm so glad we found it. The sandwiches were delicious, prices were very reasonable which is rare these days, love the baseball theme, the owner - and all the staff- was so nice (working behind the counter and greeting customers). And the staff? So sweet. They remember people's names, orders, and always make you feel like a regular--even if it's your first time. We have been twice now and both times, we are welcomed and asked how are days are going. The menu has lots of variety - I always get a roast beef and cheddar on Dutch crunch. I was in the Arden area the other day, and was looking for a sandwich. I drove by this place and decided to give it a try. It's basically one of those sandwich shops that's similar to a Mr Pickles, just with different sandwich names and a different theme, but has the same bread options and ingredients. I got a club sandwich, on sweet bread. It was a good sandwich, but a sandwich I could have went anywhere and got. I have been here several times and to the Cottage way location. Their pastrami is just ok, their salads are solid, and I usually order the BLT. But on my most recent visit, I ordered the tri-tip sandwich for the first time, I had cheddar cheese and no BBQ sauce . I've been to the deli on Cottage but this was my first time to the location on Arden. Omg highly highly recommend. Location moved but same delicious sandwiches. We went yesterday and those sandwiches are memorable. Upon entering you immediately see all the awesome baseball art. You're also greeted by the awesome and friendly staff. You feel very welcomed and they're very helpful to answer any questions you have. I'll be back for sure again. I ordered the Hammerin' Hank roast beef and Hubby ordered The World Series Rueben. The sandwiches are huge and you get a treat with every order also, a cookie. The flavor is there and service is very good no complaints.
