First time visiting this town and I'm driving down the road in the middle of the day and the traffic is reduced to one lane. I merge to the left but as I'm doing that I see a guy holding a sign that says, "Traffic sucks, our sandwiches don't!" Made a mental note to come back here and was glad I did. The sandwiches are so good! I'd compare it to Ike's down here in So Cal, but they're better. I went in around closing time and was able to score the Bambino on Dutch crunch bread. Ate it outside and it was the best lunch after flying in earlier that day. Definitely would come back again as it's a standout sandwich!

Garlic sauce is fantastic, but the bread is falling apart and they forgot my bacon. So... I'm seriously bummed. The Deli is really clean and the staff are super nice. I feel bad about the review, but the bacon was a 2$ up charge and it's missing. And I'm hungry and I could not hold it to eat because it crumbled on me. Bad Call Blue!!

This place is awesome!!! I'm so glad we found it. The sandwiches were delicious, prices were very reasonable which is rare these days, love the baseball theme, the owner - and all the staff- was so nice (working behind the counter and greeting customers). The only thing I wish is that it had more seating so that I could bring my kids baseball team. We will definitely be back and we will share this find with our friends.

If you have been searching for a delicious deli in Sacramento with the best bread, this is the place! It's so hard to find a GOOD sandwich spot without spending $18+ on a sandwich. I have been in the hunt for a sandwich spot that has fresh sandwiches, good vibes, and good prices. Dugout deli checks all the boxes! The staff is very friendly. We have been twice now and both times, we are welcomed and asked how are days are going. The menu has lots of variety - I always get a roast beef and cheddar on Dutch crunch. Everything was just so good. The last twice times that we went there, they even gave us a complimentary cookie to go with our sandwiches. In total, I spent about 27$ with tax on our two sandwiches, which is hard to beat now a days. Each weekend I am getting addicted to this place because I find myself wanting to go here to get a sandwich.

This place was a 10/10. Will highly recommend this restaurant. The staff was amazing and attentive.

Does Dugout Deli still participate in the buy 9 sandwiches get the 10th one free, punch card?

Unfortunately that program ended a few years ago. We had a number of people using their own punch and rather than embarrass them by calling them out on it, we would just honor them and take the hit but decided to stop the cards at that point. We are…

My body almost turned me around immediately, but I was sooo hungry and it was almost 3pm and I hadn't eaten all day. But the place was really really dirty, there was leaking water on the floor in front of the many potato chips near the cash register. I watched a little girl (unknowingly) dance around in it and prayed she didn't slip. Anyway, I ordered the tritip plate with double potato salad. The tritip was "ok" it was sliced super thin. And so it wasn't tough or anything. Not necessarily how I like it sliced, but ok. The sauce was pretty good. The potato salad was super bland. Only thing that was delicious was the slice of German chocolate cake that I got from an outside vendor called "Terri Does Dessert". THAT was super good! But yeah, this place. I don't know. I don't think they would pass a health inspection.

My to-go order is the Hornet on a Dutch crunch roll with everything on it except mustard. Make it a combo with chips and a drink, and you'll have an incredible lunch. The ambiance is different from other sandwich spots in midtown. The chairs and tables are older and worn, and it's small inside, but it's also inside an old house that was converted into a restaurant. That alone makes this place unique. People hang out inside or outside with friends and enjoy the vibes. There's a real sense of community that the Sandwich Spot brings along with uniquely crafted sandwiches. All of the sandwiches are named after people or landmarks in Sacramento. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and will help you with recommendations if you're not sure which sandwich to get. It honestly feels like you're in the company of good friends. The staff joke around and seem to enjoy their job and working together. The restaurant is in a really cool old Victorian house, and the staff were super friendly. The interior was clean and looked like a nice place to dine in, but I ended up taking my order to go. I ordered the #19 with turkey, prosciutto, avocado, and swiss on a dutch crunch roll. The bread had just gone into the oven, so we had to wait about 10 minutes, but I can't complain because it was baked fresh to order. Overall, I thought the sandwich was very good, but honestly not quite as amazing as people online had made it out to be. It was definitely good, but I don't know if I'd be dying to go back when I think Ike's, Mr. Pickle's, Corti Bros, and maybe even Nugget or Sprouts make more interesting sandwiches. To me, those places use slightly higher quality ingredients as well, though maybe I just didn't order the best sandwich here. Overall, it was a good sandwich and a good experience. My expectations were probably just a little too high. I wouldn't be dying to come back but also wouldn't say no if someone wanted to go there for lunch.

For those living in the neighborhood this is such a convenient spot. This is a smaller grocery store so you won't be able to find everything, but what they do have is plenty. There's fresh produce, wine, beer, shelf stable items essential to everyday recipes, and where they really shine is their deli and butcher area. They also have some prepared items like desserts, salads, dressings, pickles, dips, and more. On my latest visit I ended up ordering their Italian Hero ($11.99) from the deli counter, and picked up some of their pickles and house made caesar dressing. Everything was high quality and I loved that they have these options available. The Caesar dressing is delicious and I'll definitely be stopping in again for more. I've been using it on salads since picking it up. It had a good amount of parmesan cheese so The pickles have a very unique flavor, they're definitely tasty but not my favorite version of Dill Pickles- they are more tangy and zingy that traditional dill pickles, not bad just not what I expected. (I was thinking more kosher dill, like Claussen pickles or like the pickles you'd get at a Jewish deli). The sandwich was the star of the show, for $11.99 it was HUGE, the Italian Hero comes with prosciutto, mortadella, salami, roasted red bell pepper, and provolone- all sandwiches also come with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and pepperoncini. The combination of ingredients on Dutch Crunch bread was amazing and I think having roasted red peppers as an option is underrated, it elevates a sandwich so much. While I wouldn't do my normal shopping here, I would absolutely come for specialty items or pick up needed items for convenience. I'll be back again soon!
