Best. Cakes. Ever. I normally do not like cake - I'm just not a cake person. But Ettore's cakes are to die for. So far, I've tried their Princess Torte and their Chocolate Decadence Cake (both multiple times). Unreal taste and perfect texture. Gorgeous presentation too. Ummm... I have mixed feelings about this place. Let's start with the positives because there are plenty. The cakes, pastries, and beverages were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. In fact, the cakes impressed me so much that I can honestly see myself ordering future birthday and celebration cakes from here. The ordering process was smooth, and the décor is gorgeous, making it a really inviting place to spend some time. I enjoyed the bakery so much that I came back a week later to try lunch. Unfortunately, that's where things took a turn. I ordered the burger, and someone in my party had the salmon burger. Both were incredibly bland. It honestly tasted like no salt or seasoning had been added at all. If you prefer very lightly seasoned food, this might be right up your alley, but it just wasn't for me. The iced tea also comes unsweetened, so keep that in mind if you're expecting sweet tea. One small thing that could also be improved is the ordering setup. There are separate lines for the bakery and the kitchen, but when it gets busy it can be a little confusing--especially since you order first and then find a seat. Overall, I'd absolutely return for the pastries, cakes, and drinks. The bakery side is outstanding. As for lunch, though, it left me wanting a lot more flavor. read more

My granddaughter and I recently went to Ettore's for their tea service. It's offered on weekday afternoons, which is not the case with dedicated tea rooms which are only open on weekends. Ettore's is a bakery cafe, not a tea room. This fact was demonstrated by what we were offered to eat and drink. They gave me a tea bag! I've been trying to eradicate tea bags from my life because of the microplastics, so this was a major disappointment, but not the first! We were seated on the enclosed patio, not inside the restaurant, and it was during a heat wave. There were fans, but it was still uncomfortably hot. Also, for a bakery cafe, the food was surprisingly mediocre. Croissant = soso. Same for the sandwiches. Petit fours and macarons, inedible because of their sugary sweetness. Honestly, I think someone probably nipped over to Safeway to buy the macarons. The only reason I awarded three stars rather than two is because of the waitress. She was very attentive and super nice. I will not go back to Ettore's, nor will I buy their uninspired baked goods. And for those who enjoy afternoon tea, I recommend a dedicated tea room. read more

I ordered my cake over the phone since it was within 48 hours of when I needed it. Took a bit of time before someone assisted me but when they did they were super helpful and friendly! I set my pickup on a Sunday at 12 pm. There is a number to notify the bakery you're there for your pickup. Unfortunately, they were so slammed no one picked up and it went to vm. I couldn't go inside since I had my 1 year old asleep in the car. I parked near the front and knocked on the window. An employee saw me and gave me excellent and expeditious customer service! Respectful, kind, and appreciative for my business. I wish I got his name! He walked the cake all the way to my car and made sure I took a peak to see if my cake was correct. We ordered the Strawberry White Chocolate Mousse cake for my son's 18th birthday. Not super sweet even though white chocolate can be that way. The mousse was light and not too decadent. This cake is one to please many! We're still eating the leftovers 7 days later. As long as it's in an airtight container it'll taste just as amazing as the first day. read more

Phenomenal lunch on Friday, a couple days ago. I had my usual, the bacon cheeseburger with fresh cut French fries. My wife and her mother shared the roasted turkey sandwich with pasta salad. Of course we had dessert, but they didn't last long enough for pictures to be taken. I went with my old faithful favorite, a slice of the Kahlua cake. My wife tried a seasonal fruit puff pastry thing. Of course mine was better! This place is a gem! Always busy, with a steady flow of customers. We came right at the transition time from breakfast to lunch. That can be a bit chaotic. But staff were pleasant and warm and welcoming. The cafe is open seating and you place your order at the counter. Your food is delivered to wherever you are seated. It's rather spacious and has some outdoor seating as well. read more

Came here to order their wonderful burger unfortunately only brunch is served on Sunday. We tried the Salmon Scramble and Avocado Scramble instead. Both were good but I felt they lacked a little bit of seasoning. There is probably an entire avocado in the scramble making it very filling. We ordered three desserts to share. Lemon Chiffon cake, Napoleon and a Salted Caramel Cannoli. We devoured the Napoleon and Lemon Chiffon cake saving the cannoli for later. I have been to Ettore's a few times before - most recently we stopped in on Saturday to pick up a birthday cake for my Sister in Law. I have only eaten at Ettore's once so I can't really comment on the food since it was a while ago, but the bakery display is top tier and the staff is always friendly and super helpful. They also had a nice Mardi Gras display right when you walked in the front door. The interior on the left side has a decent amount of tables and has a bistro vibe which is nice and cozy. When we arrived on Saturday it was pretty busy - both the line to order at the bakery and in the dining area. We stood in line and decided on the Black Forest Cake for around $55 - they even personalized it for us. They have so make cakes, cookies and pastries to choose from Fruit Basket Cake to Red Velvet to Creme Puffs to Tiramisu to scones to croissants to muffins! I wanted to order one of everything! They offer a Sunday brunch so we will definitely be back soon to eat in the cafe again! Check them out! read more

I really miss all the memories from when he and I used to come here while in the area visiting my parents and bringing them food to go. But the main reason we recently patronized this establishment was because it was my dad's birthday, and their scrumptious bakery first came to mind. This was my first visit to Ettore's Bakery & Cafe. I had high expectations since I have family that orders their desserts here for special occasions. My sister brought me here for a craving she was having. As we walked in, I noticed the bakery display cases to the right were the desserts. It was gorgeous! Beautiful! Colorful! It all looked... perfect! When we walked up to the case to admire and decide what we wanted, we were asked multiple times if we were ready. They have full size cakes cake slice cookies crossiants, muffins and scones to choose from. After a look at everything, I ordered a slice of Kulua cake slice. My sister got the Red Velvet cake slice. Although, we were eating there, they unfortunately packed them up to go into one box and it was anything but graceful. I had to ask for a couple plates and forks. We seated ourselves in a not so large area. A 2 person table. My Kulua slice was delicious. Not too sweet, and you could taste the Kulua. My sisters Red Velvet cake was also delicious. You're crazy if you don't like cream cheese frosting! Also, there is a Cafe here where you can order food. I saw someone order a salad that looked pretty delicious. This is a pretty popular bakery/restaurant in Sacramento has been here for a while. Prices can be steep $35-$40 for a fruit tart. We went and picked up one yesterday. We walked in and had to stand there for almost 5 minutes while the blonde "guy" (who seemed to be in a managerial position) ignored us standing -- didn't say hi, didn't speak. I've been coming to Ettore's for over 15 years for their cakes and fruit tarts and they've always been incredible. Truly never had a complaint from anyone who's tried them. This review is about a recent cafe visit. I came in on a rainy weekday around 11 and it was packed. The entrance is pretty small, so everyone waiting for the cafe line was squeezed into that front area. The bakery case to the right looked as beautiful as always with all their cakes and pastries, which they're known for. While waiting in line, I only saw the digital menu behind the counter. I didn't notice any printed menus and with how crowded it was, I felt rushed. I ordered a slice of the meat quiche and a small fruit cup for my child, not realizing the quiche already comes with fruit and a side salad. I wish the cashier had mentioned it because I definitely would've skipped the extra fruit. Most of the tables were full, so I waited for an indoor table near the patio to open. Even inside, there was a cold draft whenever someone went in or out of the patio area. Something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to cold or planning to sit outside on a chilly day. Our food came out in about 15 minutes. I've always known Ettore's for great quality, but this visit fell short. The fruit was the biggest disappointment. The cantaloupe and honeydew looked like they had been sitting out for a while, a little translucent on the edges. The grapes had tiny bug holes and most of the blueberries were mushy. I think we were just unlucky with the fruit on this day. The meat quiche was also not what I expected. It was dry and really needed more milk or cheese to give it some creaminess and flavor. The thin ham with broccoli and squash didn't come together well for me. The spring mix with berry vinaigrette was actually the best part of the plate. I'm hoping this was just an off day because Ettore's has been one of my go to spots for years. I'll definitely give it another try, but this visit missed the mark. read more

After getting lattes at Temple, we headed to Ettore's for breakfast. First time having breakfast here. You order at the counter, get a number and the order is delivered to your table. Silverware and napkins are at the counter. I tried to decline the offer of free pastries, but the plate with two small cinnamon rolls and two glazed mini croissants was handed to me. We ate them, despite being concerned it would tank our appetite. The eggs, bacon and potatoes were cooked as requested, over easy and crispy. The toast was served with a separate wrapped room temperature pat of butter. Unfortunately, the bread was not warm enough to melt the butter. Breakfast also included a small cup of fruit, watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple honeydew and grapes. I ate everything and left quite full. Service was quick. The restaurant was minimally occupied, but maybe after church will fill up. Hash browns aren't an option and I prefer those, so I doubt I'll be back, despite the good food. read more

The restaurant is a little hidden, you have to get off the main Fair Oaks blvd and turn onto the little parallel street stebbins lane to turn into the parking lot. There is plenty of parking though. Inside there is an area to order the baked goods, desserts and coffee and the other side of the restaurant that has more of the dine in and savory options. I still haven't tried their savory options, but it's on my list. On my latest trip I ordered a key lime tart, a couple chocolate chewy cookies, and a danish. The team members here were friendly and helpful and kept the line moving. From the items I ordered, the cookies were my favorite. They were chewy and rich and had nuts in them that gave them some crunch and a nice flavor balance. The danish was really nice, I should have drank it with coffee because that would have paired so well together. The key lime tart wasn't my favorite, I'm definitely more of a pie fan and it was a bit too bitter for me from the lime zest, or maybe from the slice of lime sitting on top. I find it abysmal that they overcharge so hard on slices of cake in which they don't even show the price during the shopping process. I find that this is a very cheap and malicious method to extract as much cost as possible without the customer having the ability to back out since the cost is only known during the final checkout phase. We had breakfast here and it was great! We liked that you could order at the counter then sit yourself. We also really liked the complimentary breakfast pastries! Everything we had was great. I did a create own omelette and my partner had the steak scramble. Food quickly came to the table. There were ample servers through the cafe taking plates away or helping with anything you may need. This place feels like an upscale bakery! There were so many varieties of pastries and sweet treats to choose from. All of these delicious choices made it hard to pick, but I went with a fruit tart and bear claw. Each one of them were around $5-$6. Service was good. I wanted more time to decide because there were so many options, but I didn't want to keep the employee waiting so I had to go with my gut. I recently had lunch at Ettore's when I unexpectedly had to leave my car to be serviced. Full transparency, I have not historically been a fan of their cafe food, although their pastry has always been excellent. On this occasion I had a bowl of clam chowder, which was served with toasted focaccia coated in olive oil. The bread was average, a little oily, but the soup had a good flavor, with chunks of carrot and potato and clams. I was served quickly at the counter (12pm on a Thursday) and didn't wait long for the food to come to my table. The pastry case still looks fabulous which is why I'm conceding four stars; it will take another lunch to win me over fully to the cafe. read more

Not good for gluten-free because staff is not knowledgeable about the dishes and the kitchen is not attentive. Every time I order a salad, tell them needs to be GF, and every time there is a big (delicious-looking) piece of bread on my plate. The salads are pretty good and the almond horns are amazing, but at an American-style restaurant in 2026 California they should be able to accommodate the common allergens. I have shopped at the bakery in Ettores and also have dined in their cafe for years. A few years ago I placed a large order for bakery items for my 60th birthday. It was delicious and the service was great. Recently, I met a new friend there for breakfast. It was her first time going there. I arrived first and got in line right away. But then realized that I could seat myself. But I asked a staff member to be sure and she was extremely kind and helpful and pointed me in the right direction. Her name was Veronica. After my friend arrived we ordered our food and sat back at our table. Shortly after we were approached by a very friendly lady, Lisa. She welcomed us and offered to share a complimentary assortment of pastries. We were excited about this as it was not expected. Lisa returned with 4 different pastries and explained each one, even said she made some of them herself. They were delicious. Turns out Lisa is the owner of Ettores and Veronica is her daughter. Tea could have been tasty but was weak both mint and orange spice Croissants were good but could have been better cut in half and filled with coronation chicken salad. cucumber/lox canapé was ok but would have been better with crustless cucumber sandwich and a salmon spread sandwich instead. Had a chocolate cake preordered from here for a friends birthday - the cake was GINORMOUS. It was SO thick and decadent. The chocolate mousse paired well with the rich chocolate frosting.
