Salmon Burger on a brioche bun
    Tien D.

This is a nice location at the Pavilions. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. There is a self service water and utensils station. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Indoors is a bit noisy so aim to sit outside if you want a more quiet atmosphere. There are heat lamps at each table so it is comfortable even on a cool day. I had the veggie bean burger which was okay. The patty was a bit mushy so didn't hold up well. It didn't come with any sides so it's an extra $2.50 for side salad or $4 for regular or sweet potato fries. The regular fries I tried was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. On a previous visit I had the salmon burger which I liked more than the veggie option.

We ordered food to go. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwich. The potatoes were so good! I also had the vanilla latte.

I was greeted immediately and asked for a table outside and totally shaded. They accommodated me with a lovely table just outside the bar area, and it was a beautiful setting for our party of six. We all ordered different items and we were all very impressed. My cheeseburger had a delicious grass fed beef patty cooked perfectly. The lettuce, tomato and onion were fresh and nicely assembled. The burger was juicy and scrumptious. I would definitely recommend eating here. I am looking forward to my next visit.

LOVEEE this spot -- especially on a nice day + I always see someone here it seems like -- yesterday i just stopped in for an afternoon coffee and a business meeting!! again - perfect spot - they have lots of booths that have plenty of room, the inside and outside areas are all lovely and spread out enough that it isnt so loud you need to yell - the food is always also the best!!!

We went here last week for a family dinner to celebrate 2 birthdays, one of my bro-in-law (BIL) and dad-in-law. It was a great time chatting and eating. We had been here before and I realized I hadn't written a review. So here is a compilation of photos taken from a previous visit (see pics). We usually have a great time with our orders. My favorite order was the salad sampler and also the carrot cake which I didn't see on the menu this time. My fiancé likes the breakfast burger along with the black bean burger but I think he enjoyed the breakfast burger more! In this recent visit I ordered a half Cobb order and so did my BIL and the server switched up the order. I would suggest to the serving staff that they know which person ordered what so they're not passing the plate around to the customer. And if the same server returned then each person would have gotten their order placed in front of them versus 2 servers asking who ordered what... I also wish they would have specials where price-wise it was reasonable like a holiday entree and a glass of wine for said price for example. The ambiance was ok the table we sat in was just a little tight for 5 people. We sat in one of the booth tables and 3 people squeezed in on one booth.

Came here a couple times with friends to grab a small bite or coffee. Though I had not had a full on meal yet, I have had great service. Setting: - This location is at the Pavilions so there is free parking. Catch is it can get busy with parking but if you go early enough and weekend mornings have been no issue. - I love the option to sit inside or outside on the patio. - Though I have only been here on the weekends, early ~9am , it does get pretty packed Service: - Even though they get busy here, I appreciate how the servers check up on us regularly, but not too much were my friends and I can have our deep talks/conversations and not be too bothered. - The last server I had was respectful about the tip especially since we only had coffee/drinks during that visit, but still gave him a good tip anyways. Price point: - Everything here is decently priced especially being in a nice area, defiantly appreciate that and so does my wallet - They also have a reward system to earn points! Homemade chai tea latte: -This is a must try! it comes in a giant cup (pretty much a bowl). Though no handles, it wasn't too hot and just held it by the rim. -It doesn't have a strong spice bite that some other chais have, which at times I do like, but I don't mind the way they make it. -I love the blend of spices they use, giving it a well balanced taste of flavors (nothing overpowering another). I find it being a smooth, creamy, sweet, and not watered down Avocado toast: -Nothing overly special about this dish, was surprised it didn't come with much toppings as I saw in other pictures, just red onion, but it was still good., but not the best avocado toast I've had. -It hits the spot if you are not looking for anything too hefty. Overall: definitely a cute spot to bring your friends or take a date

We've eaten here probably over a dozen & a dozen more times! However the last time we ate here this restaurant was hopping!!! So probably best to come during the week midafternoon. Only once we did have a bad situation out of the bazillion times we have been here. Chalk it up to that one snooty Asian waiter who seated us in the back by the kitchen so we walked out. Yes seriously & we saw him yesterday. So glad we ordered to go then! We even saw Peja Stojakovic with his son leaving here after their meal! No we didn't approach them. Just left them alone. I think our friends found some cash on the ground after that too! Most recently we saw Tina Macuha as well! Our favorite was the Crispy Cauliflower appetizer & Chicken quinoa grain bowl! Those two items were the bomb! My wife was bummed when they no longer have the crispy cauliflower & now have the shishito peppers instead! At least my wife enjoys their salmon salad. We have also eaten the salmon BLT Sammies with sweet potato fries! What's nice is they usually have dessert items in their dessert case just in case you are craving something sweet. We have yet to do that but it's surely tempting! Woohoo what are you waiting for? By the way be sure to sign up on their iEat rewards site. They have multiple Cafe Bernardo's locations throughout Sacramento. Pavilions, Midtown, Fort Sutter Hotel & Davis. Now my wife is hooked on their salmon on mashed sweet potatoes with veggie dinner plate which may only last for few months as they change it up every so often per their manager? Order it to go & they are quick! Like within 15 minutes! I'm sure they compete with our favorites like Mendocino Farms & Urban Plates which are in the vicinity but now they are our favorites! Maybe we shouldn't let the cat out of the bag? Ambiance is glorious as they have outdoor seating & indoor for those crazy hot summery days! Yes we WILL BE BACK!

An interesting hybrid restaurant The seating (indoor or outdoor) has cloth napkins and stainless flatware but you order your food at a counter. The lunch menu is a little limited but the food is tasty. The restaurant is located in a large shopping area with ample parking.

This is trying to hard to be an epic sandwich that everyone raves about - but not when the fixings are skimpy.

Stopped in here for a late-afternoon happy hour with some friends 'cuz I had heard about their salmon BLT sandwich. It's not on the HH menu, but that didn't matter. I was all in for ordering that gem. But - man - so sad - it has the makings of a really nice sandwich, if only the fixings weren't so skimpy. I mean, $17 for a sandwich with no side is pricey, so you expect that it will be edge-to-edge with the ingredients. Nope. As noted in the photo, the salmon piece on one half was maybe the size of a slice of hard-boiled egg. the bacon was a single slice across both sides of the bread. Oh, and don't get me started about "garden weeds" masquerading as lettuce. This didn't even qualify as "Spring Mix." Nope. Hard pass for a reorder on this menu item. Servers are great, but poorly staffed in the Cafe part during the afternoon shift which necessitates ordering at the bar. Not my favorite style of dining. To balance this with what was good: the salmon was flavorful, the bacon was crispy, the tomatoes were juicy and cold, and the toasted white sourdough was delicious. Like I said, all the makings of a legendary sandwich - just didn't happen that way for me yesterday. DANG!

    Thai noodles
    Michael S.

I was undecided between a burger and the Thai noodles and I chose the noodles! Super yummy :) and plenty of food so I wasn't hungry for a looooong time afterward. You better not look too close at what they have in the case when you first walk in otherwise you're going to end up with a dessert haha. Friendly staff. Prompt service. Plenty of parking. We'll be back!

This was my first time at this particular location and I thoroughly enjoyed the service, ambiance and the meal. This location is tucked in at The Pavilions shopping center and is a great addition to this area. The entrance and dining area is warm and welcoming and for dinner, they seat and serve you which is really nice. My husband and I shared the Salmon BLT sandwich with fries and a bowl of their freshly made cream of potato soup. The sandwich was so good, the salmon was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of flake, the bacon was the perfect touch. The soup was ideal on this super chilly tule fog night (fellow Sacramentons, IYKYK!). It was creamy, flavorful and had the same delicious bacon that was in the Salmon BLT. I do wish the soup had been hotter, it was just barely warm and I like my soups hot. Still very tasty though! I also enjoyed my cocktail as well. I've never had a bad meal at Cafe Bernardo and love that we have several locations to choose from! Always a great go to in Sacramento!

Stopped in for a quick brunch but barely missed the opportunity to have breakfast :/ got lunch instead and thankfully found a spot pretty quickly. The pear and prosciutto pizza is delicious. The grilled salmon BLT was also pretty good! Their French fries are really good tho! Very polite staff on this visit - one of the gentleman even helped me take off my jacket. Chivalry at its finest haha

Love coming here it always feels so cozy and all the waiters are so nice and friendly. I always go for the triple salad so I can try all different flavors and that number fails to amaze me filling and tasty at the same time. We also got the blue cheese burger, which was absolutely flavorful and filling. Loved it. Would make this place better if they had a coffee . They don't have syrup to make specialty coffees and only provided cappuccino.

We had the Hoisin glazed ribs, salmon skewers, prime rib, Brick's chicken carrot cake. - Food was presented well - Ambiance was great (tvs too at the bar) - Prices reasonable, especially with inKind - Overall felt clean and comfortable - Friendly service Cons: - Service was a little slow. For example, my water cup stayed empty twice for a while and only got filled when I asked. But it was initially given without asking which was good. Also, waited a bit to order and to get check. - Air condition a tad bit too strong for us. It was about 96°F outside though. - Men's restroom sink with auto sensor would have water runner for at least 7 seconds after my hand was away - Brick's Chicken that has a description of half a chicken shouldn't be taken literally. It doesn't have a drumstick. When asked about it, the server and chef didn't know why. - The horseradish with the prime rib was more of the creamy variety. I would have preferred more of raw horseradish with a bite.

Chicken was dry, bland and uninsired, and a very small portion. I also ordered a side of spinach that was bitter and oily. Another person ordered the short ribs, which were also a letdown, dry and overcooked. My other friend got the meatloaf, which was ok, but definitely not anything to remember. We all ordered soup and salad, and those items were good. It just seemed like the items prepared by the chef were terrible. Also, the time between courses was ridiculous. It wasn't even busy and there was over a 30 minute wait between each course. Our dinner took almost two hours! The service, while friendly, was very slow. No refills, not check backs. The restaurant was not even half full. I dont understand why salad, entree and desert takes two hours to come out. Prices were not in line with the quality of food presented. Sadly, we all agreed we'd never come back.

The cakes, pastries, and beverages were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. In fact, the cakes impressed me so much that I can honestly see myself ordering future birthday and celebration cakes from here. The ordering process was smooth, and the décor is gorgeous, making it a really inviting place to spend some time. I enjoyed the bakery so much that I came back a week later to try lunch. Unfortunately, that's where things took a turn. I ordered the burger, and someone in my party had the salmon burger. Both were incredibly bland. It honestly tasted like no salt or seasoning had been added at all. If you prefer very lightly seasoned food, this might be right up your alley, but it just wasn't for me. The iced tea also comes unsweetened, so keep that in mind if you're expecting sweet tea. One small thing that could also be improved is the ordering setup. There are separate lines for the bakery and the kitchen, but when it gets busy it can be a little confusing--especially since you order first and then find a seat. Overall, I'd absolutely return for the pastries, cakes, and drinks. The bakery side is outstanding. As for lunch, though, it left me wanting a lot more flavor.
