I was accused of stealing by someone who was identified as the manager, Sammy, by others who knew who he was. In case that's not his name, he dressed in jeans, a tank top, and is tall. It was around 8pm on a Thursday when I went to the store. The store is on the larger side, and there are a few other shoppers beside me. I only see one worker and it's the guy in the tank top and jeans. I'm shopping for a bikini, and I grab three different styles and different sizes for each style since bikini sizing fluctuates, especially since I wanted to try crochet ones too. There's no one by the fitting rooms, but I see a fitting room door open, so I go inside. The fitting room is a mess, and there are no hooks for me to hook the bikinis onto, to the point I have to hook them on the door, the actual wall, and the doorknob. There is also gum stuck in the holes where the hooks should have been. I didn't really care though, I was just there to try the bikinis on. After trying three pieces, nothing looked good on me, so I gave up and hung everything back onto the hangers and onto the go back rack all together. Suddenly, that employee wants to run into my fitting room I had just exited, with speed. He checks inside. I'm over here thinking he just really needed to clean that room or something because it was one hour until closing. I start making my way out of the store, when he starts running towards me. I'm at the door, he steps in front of me, and tells me "Ma'am, I'm gonna need the rest of the swimsuits back." Me, thinking he just wanted to get started on clean up early, replies, "Yeah I put them all back on the rack!" He goes, "No, but there's empty hangers in your room so I'm gonna need the rest of those swimsuits." I tell him sternly, "Yeah, I just told you I put them all back on the rack." He goes "Do you want to show me then?" So I tell him, "Yeah, let's go." I walk him to the rack, and show him all the items I put on the go back rack, which were all the items I did and didn't try on. I then tell him, "I don't have anything in my bag, but if you want to check," and I show him my very small, open bag with no zipper that clearly doesn't have merchandise in it. I turn to him and say, "I don't have anything on under this shirt, but I don't have anything." For reference, I'm wearing a large baggy tee, but you can see my neck and it's clear I don't have any straps. I'm wearing tight spandex shorts, so if I was hiding something under it would be really obvious. He looks at me and goes "Okay then." I'm so mad at this point that I just walk out the store. If he really is the manager, behaving like this is insane. Doing all this for a 2 for $50 swim separates that I didn't steal is crazy. Do better. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE FROM JACOB !!! my family was at the Glendale cotton on and found the last Barbie shirt that they had but it was on the manikin and took it off and sold it to me and because my other daughter wanted one as well the very nice manager Jenna at the Glendale store called over and found that they had it and it was a discussion that she was able to pull hers off the mannequin and he should be able to as well. She hung up the phone and said they're holding it for you. I drove 30 minutes to traffic to get to the Santa Anita mall and I don't use that one but there are two mannequins up in the store with this Barbie tank top on, but he refused to take the shirt off the mannequin, even though it is the absolute last one online and in the store, and my daughter size He had zero concern about how long we drove how we had waited and how it was made clear to us that it should not be a problem getting it. He proceeded to tell us that he couldn't take it off the manikin because then he has no other shirt to replace it with. I pointed out to him that he has another mannequin in the store with that same shirt but it's just not in my daughter side. I've been told him that I wasn't very happy and that this was a communication error that I should not be responsible for between him and the manager of the cotton on store in Glendale and instead he turned it back to me and said that "isn't it a problem with you and the manager because you obviously didn't understand and she didn't understand " He had absolutely no care, concerns, consideration, and he almost seem to be reveling in his ability to block people. My daughters and my wife have been going to cotton on in years and at this point will never go buy anything at that store again. I've had a few disappointing encounters with Cotton On clothes, but for the most part...they're doable for the price. However, this review isn't about their clothing or any of their merchandise, but rather their customer service. I understand the holiday season is a busy time for all retailers, but shouldn't excuse retail workers attitudes. I was changing in the fitting room when a male employee UNLOCKED and opened my door. I was topless when he did this and he had another male customer behind him. I was shocked he didn't knock or even bother to check under the door. But what really surprised me was his lack of an apology! He just walked away and let the other customer into another room. I asked to speak to his manager who he called over. I told the MALE manager what happened and he apologized on behalf of the employee (who still did NOT apologize at this point). The manager then said he will bring it up to them later on...seriously? That's it? But then he proceeded to defend his employee by saying he had just clocked in and started his shift. Please tell me how that is AT ALL relevant to the fact that he unlocked a fitting room while someone was inside and did not even care to say sorry or acknowledge his mistake. The employee ended up saying sorry after awhile into my conversation with the manager who was a bit of an arrogant jerk. When I went back inside my dressing room they slammed my door close by pulling on the doorknob. This surprised me, but I decided to let it slide. So much for shopping there again. So long Cotton On. Ventured into the Santa Anita mall today to find a new store situated next to the disgustingly gaudy Metro Park. I was originally going to pass it by because it looked too messy and a hell of a walk to get through until my friend said "Its like the H&M of Australia." BAM. I veered my path offcourse and wandered in. There's not much "attention getting" marketing besides giant floating signs for $14.95 "aussie boots on sale," which as a man, I am not attracted to. I walked through pass the overly priced $29.90 dress shirts to some really skinny jeans and finally made my way to the sale section. The sizes caught me off guard, as a Large is a Medium size in the AU. An XXL is about a Large and so on and so forth. Being a natural medium, I went for it....to no avail. I sadly upped an AU size to the Large and left. Mind you, for sale items, there are no exchanges or refunds. I will come back on a weekday to peruse casually and calmly. -1 star for the mess and for the deluge of tweens roaming about. read more

RUDE MANAGER at Cotton On!!! I tried to return 3 T-shirts at the location in Santa Anita Mall, Arcadia CA. I got the T-shirts for a deal, 3 for $30. That was the only purchase I made that day & I only had one receipt. I decided to return all 3 one Sunday. The cashier saw on the receipt that 1 of the 3 T-shirts had the wrong description but the other 2 was fine & they told me that 1 T-shirt was not on the receipt & was questioning it. I told them that I didn't know either... those were all I got when I purchased the deal. Apparently I don't work there, how would I know? It seems that the cashier who rang me up when I purchased the T-shirts made a mistake. So, she called the manager & the manager was questioning what really happened. She said similar things to me that the 1 shirt was not on the receipt, but again ....that was all I got when I made the purchase. I said (almost laughing in disbelief) that I didn't know...because I was just a customer. Then she told me she would do me a favor this time (I was like, "WHAAT?"), but she can't do anything if it's not on the receipt (BIG MISTAKE TO SAY THIS). I told her again ... that it doesn't matter because I didn't know ether. The manager only said the same thing to me & I had to keep saying the same thing... I don't know... I don't work here. VERY RUDE!!! She should've apologized to me instead for the staff that made a mistake & refunded me the $$ without questioning me & telling me what to do AS IF it was my fault...!! I'm gradually becoming a fan of Cotton On... I first discovered the chain when it didn't have very many links. It's simliar to H&M and Forever 21 when it comes to quality and style. They often have good sales, and their regular prices are fairly reasonable. The sweatpants I got here on my last visit are really cool! Laziest little kids working here. I went in today to exchange an item for the same one bc the one I was returning had a stain, and this lazy girl at the register told me to look for the replacement myself. I told her I only saw 5 of the same item, none my size, and asked her to check the system to see if they had it in store. They did. She told me, "are you sure you don't wanna double check?" If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Not commenting on the pricing or quality, solely on customer service. I was just there moments ago with my friend, browsing. We didn't find anything so we were on our way out before a worker stopped us dead in our tracks and said, "EXCUSE ME. WHERE IS THAT TANK TOP?" We were confused...and assumed he was accusing us of stealing so we opened our bags. He didn't find what he was looking for and then demanded that we take him to where we left the tank top. Advertising here for sales is misleading as heck. There was a sign for an additional 30% on sale items, so I picked out a shirt that was on a rack of items marked down to $10.50. Went up to the cash register, and they told me that it was originally $15, so $10.50 before tax was my final price. Uh, the signs outside and inside the store clearly state an additional 30% off marked down items. Why would you have conflicting signage, and have clueless staff that couldn't explain the confusion? Most of the stuff in this store is not my style (they carry clothes that are more hipster style), but they offer a good selection of affordable basics. My BF got some plain v-necks and thermals that he likes 2 for $20. I bought some flats (a black pair and a silver pair) 2 for $15. Obviously, the prices are pretty good. The company is Australian-based, and they sell bottles of water for $1.50 with the proceeds of sales going to flood relief in Australia. Make sure to pick one up for the cause, and because you're surely famished from all of that shopping. read more

I was checking out at the register when I noticed that there were metal chokers/collars on the counter. They were facing the cashier, so you can't grab them - you have to ask for them, which I did. I asked for a gold one and she put a rose gold in my bag and charged me for it. I didn't noticed it was rose gold, okay. Bad lighting and whatnot and I'm confident of my communication skills. Walking away from the register I noticed the error and hopped back in line to tell the girl. So, if you don't already know. The proper way to do an exchange is to input it into the system/computer and have your manager authorize it. Did this girl do that? Nope. She asked this guy near her (presumably the manager) if she was suppose to just hand it to me and he said yeah. Now, a month later after having NEVER worn the necklace, I noticed a another error. The gold necklace I had was priced at $9.95, but the rose gold one - though exactly the same freaking item is $19.95. I called to complain and they basically said they couldn't do anything about it and that I would have to take the matter to corporate because 1) It's too late (return policy is 14 days - ridiculous) and 2) JENNY doesn't work there anymore. I've already escalated it up that far and corporate only offered me an exchange at $9.95. Honestly, I could have prevented the whole thing and checked all the prices and stuff, but WHO DOES THAT?! Shouldn't I feel safe as a consumer?! It's not about the money, it's the principle. Intentional or not, TWO PEOPLE SCAMMED ME. First I like to wear comfortable cloth, and they make things out of cotton... Most of their items for sell are cheap, from $5 to $20, some are more pricey, above $30 with better design. Cheap, but the decent quality is the key. I bought leggings and a PARIS shirt from them, very fit and comfortable. The downside of the material is it gets a layer white on the fabric after few washes, maybe is my detergent or washing machine. read more

When I asked a sales guy if they can open another register he just barely looked at me and walked away. I just saw him using the other register. Ah, a great Aussie export. When I lived in Australia, I lived down the street from a Cotton On and practically browsed that store every day. I hadn't seen one in the states until I came to this mall. Ah, memories! I feel like the stateside Cotton On stores have a slightly smaller collection of clothes than the ones in Australia, but oh well. I'll take what I can get! Cotton On is definitely sort of the H&M + American Apparel hybrid of Australia--a lot of basics for both men and women. Some trendy stuff for women, like high-waisted skirts and print dresses, but for the most part, it's a lot of very basic solid colored items. I got a skirt for $12 here, so it's pretty inexpensive, but decent quality. And if you donate $2 to the charity they support, you get a cute tote bag. I'd say it's even better quality than most of the basics you get at H&M (which have lasted me a max of 3 washes before holes start forming or pilling begins...), since a lot of pieces are a good percentage of cotton instead of say, polyester or rayon. Although sad that I must leave Cotton On in sunny California, I'm sure I will pillage that store again before I leave(: read more

I was just walking by and saw this cute Halloween outfit that would work for what I was looking for. I was surprised because I didn't know there was a kids section. I went in and looked around and they had a cute kids selection of clothing. I asked the store representative Karl about a promotion they had for the Halloween sets and he went above and beyond to help me. He was so easy to approach and genuinely wanted to help me. Liked their style but not the very mal-organized checkout system. Cashier has to manually put in discounts into the system and they don't recognize items that should be on sale unless you mention. I went when there is a promotion that if you sign up you received 20% off in store purchase. Not only the 20% off cannot be combined with any promotion items, which is okay since some stores do that, it cannot be applied to other full price stuff IF YOU HAVE ANY SALE ITEM IN THE TRANSACTION! yes, if you buy some items on sale, your full price items will not received discount unless you agree to raise the sale items to full price and then apply the 20% off. When I was checking out, they had difficult time 1) an item that scanner doesn't recognize the tag, 2) a shirt on sale scanned $10 above the advertised price and they didn't apply discount, 3) the store manager level young man came and said if you want to use 20% discount for signing up at all, the sale items will go back to full price and then they apply the 20% on the transaction, 4) I then asked to check out all sales items separately the manager didn't recognize one of the sale item again (which HE SEPARATE OUT because of it was on sale, and he said the previous discount of 10$ was because of the 20%, come on, 20% of $30 = $10 according to his math skill), and he did not apologize after finding out himself was wrong. Throughout the process the attitude of the store manager was not pleasant. It's a shame to find out if you pay some items separately will result in lower price than single transaction, really inefficient system that tries to trick customers, and not honoring their own promotions/sales. I really like shopping at Cotton On especially at Santa Anita mall. The store is bigger than the Glendale store. Clothing/Price: The styles are nice and cheap. It's never way too expensive for a shirt or dress. Once in a while, the store offers discount like 50% off this rack or 20% off the entire store. Besides clothing, you can find shoes, belts, wallets, bags, and accessories. BTW, this offers clothing to both male and female. Quality: The quality of the clothing are okay. It really depends on the materials. I really don't like Cotton On shoes, the quality is awful. It's bad for long hours and daily wear. Service: the customer service is okay. Return and exchange policy: I don't remember exactly the return policy, but I think it's only 30 days to get a full refund/Exchange with a receipt. read more

One of my favorite places in this mall. I've also been to the ones at the Glendale Galleria and MainPlace in Santa Ana and they were such big disappoints. The Santa Anita one is cleaner, looks nicer, and I honestly think carries more stuff. They have nice clothes here. Yeah, there's an occasional "what-the-hell-is-this" shirt or dress here and there, but I get pass that. They sell flats that are really inexpensive. What I don't love about them is they rip quickly and the thinness of the material will pretty much make your feet smell like shit if you wear it for way longer than you should, but if you're on a budget and need a pair of flats as quickly as possible, this is your place. What I do love, however, is that they are completely plain flats with no tacky designs or anything on them. I hate that department stores will carry a bedazzled cheetah-print flat with a pointless bow at the tip of the shoe, but will not carry a nice, simple one-colored flat with no random do-dads or shapes. Unlike Forever 21, I actually do see guys shopping in the designated guys section here. My boyfriend prefers going in here than stepping into Urban Outfitters with me, because there isn't an apparent "douchey, hipster vibe" in here. So if you have a guy you're shopping for, whether it's a friend, boyfriend, or even relative, it won't really hurt to get them something from here. Look for any sales they might throw out at the very front of the store! The first time I came here, they piled a whole bunch of actually very nice-looking skirts for only a mere 5 bucks! I came here with my cousin to check out this store because of the buzz. the actual store is pretty big and they have a good selection of mens and womens clothing. the prices are very good and they have an even better sales section where many of the clothes are $5, $10 and so on. the clothes are very cute and they had a lot of skirts, dresses, jeans and tops for the summer. the only thing that is kinda disappointing is that the largest size is a L, and for me being a little larger, depending on the place sometimes a L is just not big enough. they need to bring in XL and things would be great! overall the clothes are really cute and the prices are very good, you'll definitely find a couple of items that you have to buy. i cant wait until the store opens in del amo. read more

This is probably the worst Cotton On in the area. It looks like a low end Old Navy. The management has an attitude problem and the fitting rooms are always dusty and dirty. I even overheard the manager (older guy with dark hair) make rude comments about customers to other employees. However, the sales associates are nice. Ultimately I'd rather go to the Pasadena or Glendale locations because they're more clean, organized and have friendlier management. read more

I've only been to the Cotton On in Santa Ana, but I assume all the other Cotton Ons are the same. I love the clothes. Good quality clothing for such a steal! Their sales associates are nothing but friendly and helpful. Even when they try to sell you extra things as they're ringing you up -- Shoes for only $10? A bottle of water to help Ugandan children? Well don't mind if I do! -- it's impossible to say no because of how nice they are. Every time I go into this store, I walk out with at least one item. It's such a better alternative for basics than say American Apparel where something as simple as a white tanktop can run you up to $20. Here, you can get one for sometimes $5! The sales are amazing. I've bought two pairs of shorts for under $10 each, a grey leopard print mini skirt on clearance for $5, two tunics for $20, the cutest cream colored dress with a black print for $20, comfortable black leggings for $5, a grey cropped racerback for $10. I LOVE THIS STORE. I've yet to try the jeans -- since it is summer -- but they seem fairly priced for their quality. I wish every store was as amazing as Cotton On. read more

It's this place's manager that, by herself, earns this place a one star rating. The sales associates are wonderful, and deserve someone with better leadership and personal skills. Quickly skim through the other reviews for this place, and you will quickly see that many other people echo my sentiments. It's not the products. The management is toxic and dragging the establishment into the ground, and they could care less. I purchased a beautiful hat for a birthday gift. Unfortunately, it didn't fit. Called the store about returning the product same day. Was told I could. Tag still on. No wear and tear. Went back to the store and returned the product. The cashier was very kind. Went back a few minutes later because I thought I might have left my phone in the store. The manager was there now. Immediately antagonistic when she saw me. Now she claims she never told me I could return the product. Threatens the cashier with punishment for accepting the return earlier. I offer to just buy the hat back, and ask her to not punish the cashier. The atrocious, vitriolic, and spiteful manager refuses both requests. I am a physician and tried to maintain a conversational voice and professionalism, but she continued to rant and rave regardless. Was it worth it, lady? Was it worth losing a customer for life? Was it worth losing all the potential customers after I spread the story of your complete incompetence and idiocy? Was it worth bombing your rating on yelp? Did it make you feel like a big person being able to yell at your customers and bully your associates? You need to be fired. Great clothes, Great Prices but slightly on the dirty side and does anyone who works smile??? Any who, I went shopping on the busiest day of the year, Black Friday. Well let me use bullet points: - Excellent Customer Service: I asked the girl in front for a Crop Top and even though she had no idea what it was... I have nothing against cotton on, I love their clothes, but I do have a problem with this particular branch. First, an acquaintance of mine was hired there as a seasonal employee, but got 4 shifts in a span of 6 weeks. Being a student is hard enough and students need a steady source of income, but apparently can't be found here. Also, I was once there looking at clothes and I got dirty stares as if I was planning on stealing something. How rude. I'm seeing other reviews complaining about the attitude problem with the employees, so I know this isn't a one time occurrence. All in all, don't hire people if you don't need employees and don't assume every teenager is out to steal your merchandise. This store is one of the cleanest and most organized store I've been to from this clothing chain! Oddly enough didn't have my boyfriend's size in pants in any of the ones he liked (size 30), but it's a pretty popular size (I think? Lol). But very organized, and great prices.
