I came in for an afternoon snack. I planned on it being a to-go order and was convinced otherwise by the hospitality of the workers their. I was also met kindly by the manager David as well. I notice also the tidiness of the restaurant, each employee contributed to the cleaning of every table and not their own. Very please to see this as I once was a server who usually work in cleaning everybody's section with help of a coworker or two. The maintenance now is outstanding and the customer service has beyond exceeded expectation. From the entrance and music choice to the calm environment easy on the ears and cushioned seats for bottom end. *The Double Burger: Their new choice in bread with grains on top, softly held and savoring taste. Perfect combination with my onions and lettuce I included. - the Fries on the side needed a bit more in the fryer but still great on taste. *Service: Michael was my server and he provide great conversation (Ask him about Chicago!) The chicken fried chicken had great batter & was very tender. My son said the same for his chicken fried steak. After that - hit & miss at best. Fried green tomatoes - batter not well seasoned & came off easily. Had they battered it with the same batter as the chicken, it would have been far better. The green beans were tasty, but the black-eyed peas were mealy & NOT seasoned. The garlic mashed potatoes were dry, coursely mashed & tasteless. The gravy is a packet type mix, that was also underseasoned. You can season food well & not have it be salt laden - they missed the mark entirely. Long Island Iced Tea - not bad. We were coming here with a large group of high schoolers, as we are on a trip in the area. We called for a reservation of 32, and a few minutes before we were about to go the bus had not arrived yet so we called to change the reservation time. The person on the phone was very rude and said we were causing them to lose money because they were holding such a large table. But, when we walked in the restaurant it was not packed at all, with lots of room for other customers so we were not affecting their money at all! Although that situation was bad, our waitresses were amazing and did a perfect job. We didn't have to wait forever for the food, but I was not completely impressed by the food either. This place is a "hit or miss" for me. I normally order my food "to-go," and most of the time someone else picks it up for me....which means I'm screwed when they mess up my food or order/it's already been delivered to me. I like that the food is home-style cooking, but half the time somethings over-seasoned, over-cooked, old or missing. Sometimes, if I'm on a roll, I eat there maybe 3 times in a month, but I'm going on a strike because of their inconsistency with the food production. It's very annoying! This past week I ordered their expensive slice of peach cobbler for dessert. I was so excited to bite into it that evening with my vanilla ice cream in tow. I put some in my mouth and something just didn't taste right. It tasted like something was seriously lacking, especially since I eat peach pie/cobbler often and have ordered it from Cotton Patch numerous times, so I know what deliciousness to expect. I analyzed my pie and noticed that it was very flat, so I flipped up the crust and realized that they only gave me pie crust with some peach jam. No peaches!!!!!! Zero peaches at all in my cobbler. It's not peach pie or cobbler with no peaches. I was soooo angry. I paid almost $5 for a small slice of crust. Consequently, Cotton Patch will not receive any of my business for a very long time, esp. this location. read more

This was the second time went to the Cotton Patch Cafe. The first time we went our experience was great. The service and the food were great. This time however was a whole other story. Granted it was a busy Sunday afternoon, but they totally screwed up our order. We waited for 20 minutes just for our drinks. Two of of us had salads with our entrees, which came after our meal did. They forgot my sister in laws side dishes and my father in laws dish all together. To top it all off, when they finally came with our food they dropped a steamy hot plate of food right next to my 20 month old daughter which startled her. The staff did quickly apologize several times and did come back to make sure she was ok. However I felt with the many screw ups and the hot food dropping and scaring my daughter at the very least the Manager should have come to apologize. However that didn't happen, which is why I only gave it two stars. If you want to try this place, I would suggest try it in the middle of week when it's not busy. The food was still good, when they finally did get our order fixed, but just feel that the customer service was lacking when the manager failed to check on my daughter who could have been injured. read more

Very Disappointed. Where should I start. Ok food, service not good. Restaurant was not too busy either was our waiter. The Cajun Duo was a little too salty. My garden salad was a little frozen. The waiter did not seem to know what steam vegetables were being served with the grilled entrees, and he never came back to check on us or to fill our water and tea glasses. We had to request more rolls twice. I order a limeoncello and he bought me a margarita, lucky a another staff member was on the ball and bought me the correct drink right away, he must had pick up the wrong drink. I was staying in Arlington, TX on 10/3 at the Hilton Garden Inn. I am so tired of the standardized menu at HGI's, I decided to walk over to the Cotton Patch Cafe in the parking lot. I ordered chicken and dumplings and a side salad. First let me say, disappointed in the chicken and dumplings. They were NOTHING like Cracker Barrels. I had two small pieces of chicken about the size of a pencil eraser. I have pictures of the salad. I did not check the salad before I left the restaurant, I should have. When I entered I was practically dying of hunger. I was told we were going to be added to a waitlist, which I didn't mind. I asked the rude young man in the host stand why there was a wait and he mentioned a server went into labor in the middle of the restaurant. I was sat down shortly after and the women was on my table pushing out her baby. When the baby came out he flipped me off then proceeded to call me a racial slur. The roaches and the rats then started to defend me and they started fighting the baby. The battle lasted several minutes and many lives were lost. The baby ended up losing in the end, but at what cost? Many of the rats and roaches were now gone. Fathers, sons, brothers, husbands, all gone. They won in the end but that what cost? The roaches and the rats were the only thing about this restaurant that made me feel welcomed. One of the rats invited me to his wedding but I wasn't able to make it due to personal issues. I've eaten here at least three separate times and have not been disappointed. Food is good homestyle cooking and served hot. My favorite happens to be the chicken and dumplings. I also like the coconut cream pie, served chilled, when I can make room for it! Wait staff is attentive and service is excellent. I recommend this place for good home cooked style dining. read more

We ate at this location tonight for the first time. We have eaten at cotton patches before but this one I wasn't impressed by. Let me start off by saying we were seated IMMEDIATELY when we walked in and they weren't that busy. The hostess got us set up with rolls and drinks and said our server would be right with us. AT THIS POINT COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE HOSTESS AND THE WAIT STAFF FAILED!!!19 MINUTES LATER WE HAD TO FLAG DOWN A WAITRESS TO ASK IF WE HAD A SERVER YET!!!!!! She politely apologized and began taking care of us. She took our order offered us a free appetizer on her because of the mix up. We got our food and ate. Food was good, service was good. I had a coupon for a free kids meal with an adult entree purchase. She took the kids meal off the bill. We got charged for the appetizer however. I didn't say anything. We paid and left. Today was my first time visiting Cotton Patch. It was on my lunch break and I had 3 coworkers with me. Our waitress was Nala and she greeted us and got our drink orders. She quickly brought our drinks and hot fresh rolls. We ordered after that. I got the chicken fried chicken with black eyed peas and french fries. The food was out within 15 minutes and it was hot and delicious!!! The chicken was tender and had lots of flavor. The gravy was nice too. I was very impressed and I will be back. read more

Came in on a Sunday and it was busy which is understandable. I decided to order the baked fish with shrimp and baked potatoes but I was told they ran out of shrimp earlier. So i had to settle for the fried fish. When the fish came out you could smell burnt old grease plus they ran out of tarter sauce too. I ate a couple of bites but the crust was nasty. The cinnamon apples were delicious and the fries were good. Imo, the food at CP is good or average, nothing special and it's too expensive for what you get. I cannot justify over $13 for a rather small piece of meat and a small garden salad (which replaces TWO sides) plus a roll that is very bland and often not fresh/warm, and no drink. It's just not a good price vs. size ratio. For that price, and especially for to-go orders, they should include a soft drink or tea, since there would be no refill. The most concerning issue, though, is hygiene. Cotton Patch, like most restaurants now, requires servers to take payments from patrons, which includes handling money. Paper money and coins have been proven in studies to be at the top of the list of filthy items, often testing positive for feces and a variety of bacteria. And it is a fact that servers do NOT wash their hands every time they handle money, so that means they are serving food with contaminated hands. There's just no denying that. And the employees who take payments at the to-go register also help package the food, another troubling issue. Requiring servers to take money should be legally considered a health violation and this practice should be stopped by all restaurants. Lastly, at this location, when you go into the to-go area, you get a full view of the kitchen and area where the servers get drinks, rolls, etc. and I've witnesses occasions when they clearly were not being careful about hygiene: They get rolls with their hands (!) not tongs, they hold cups of salad dressing by the rim where their finger actually touches the contents, they pick up the containers of butter with their hands and throw them in the sack with the rolls, which then contaminates the rolls. We hope Cotton Patch upper management will consider all these facts and insure that proper hygiene practices are followed, including ceasing the practice of having servers handle money. read more
