Well, Cotton Patch really rolled out the red carpet for me. I picked up my to-go order right on time--impressive, except when I got back to my hotel, I realized I'd been gifted with absolutely no silverware. Nothing says fine dining like staring at a baked potato with no way to eat it. Speaking of that potato, I think it was cooked sometime last week--it was so overdone I could've used it as a doorstop. The chicken fried steak? Let's just say the elementary school cafeteria of my childhood turned out a better version, and that's saying something. The gravy was the real star, though--thick, lumpy, and about as flavorful as a glass of tap water. A true culinary masterpiece. I was in town for a wedding and found this place and so happy I did because the food was amazing! I had the roasted turkey & dressing along with their cornbread and it was very delicious. If we had a Cotton Patch Cafe in Atlanta I would be there every week, yes it's that good and I highly recommend this place! The service was amazing and Hannah was awesome and very attentive. I have tried, really tried to like this place and since my girlfriend likes the salads, we sometimes come here. My girlfriend placed a togo order for a salad for lunch last week and even though I ordered nothing, I agreed to pick it up. The nice lady at the front brought me the salad in a large takeout sack and told me that she made sure to put a few rolls in the sack to go with the salad. Silly me, I didn't take the time to check what was in the sack. Luckily, the rolls are just about the only thing I like here, so I thanked her and paid the 14 dollars for the various lettuces and whatever miscellaneous small vegetables that went with the lettuce. Once I got home, I handed my girlfriend the container of salad which you would think would be overfilled with various lettuces and other vegetables, to accompany the 14 dollar price, I found that the nice lady who rang me up, didn't place any rolls in the small sack that I thought held the rolls. Basically, she either lied or assumed that someone else put the rolls and we all know what assume means. Some folks might think I'm being petty, all this fuss over a few rolls and a salad that would fit in my grandsons cereal bowl, all for the low low price of 14 buck with tax. No, this is just an addendum to the other bad experiences I have suffered at this place. With that being said, I will do everything I can to convince my girlfriend to go elsewhere for her salads and rolls, and the last time I checked, Cotton Patch isn't the only place in town to get a small, overpriced salad with the promise of a few phantom hot rolls. read more

We went to the cotton patch for lunch one Sunday afternoon, and the service was wonderful, friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the food was very bland almost like hospital, a nursing home food. I am not an expert on that type of food as I have never been in either, but I have definitely visited friends and family in both . We went this Sunday for lunch when we saw the commercial advertising "$9.99 value meals 7 days a week." We thought that meant the CFS was $9.99 7 days a week as well as all the value meals only to be told it only applies to the SPECIFIC meal for a SPECIFIC day listed on the $9.99 menu. So the CFS is only that price on Mondays. I ordered it anyway and it was perfectly delicious. The meat was tender with an evenly coated breading not too much. However, the mashed potatoes portion was really small, smaller than a scoop of ice cream, about the size of a child's scoop of ice cream on a cake cone, 4 bites worth. Really disappointing since they were as delicious as the fried okra. Hubby's 3 cheese burger and fries were great too. They were very busy but we were seated without a long wait. I think the commercial should've noted the $9.99 meals were limited to special days of the week. read more

A nice neighborhood restaurant that specializes in southern comfort food. The little lady really likes the Cobb Salad served with chicken and their good avocado dressing. On our most recent visit I had the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and some of the great cream gravy that is also on the chicken. Love the gravy! For me, it could almost be a beverage. I added broccoli and an excellent dinner salad for a very enjoyable and satisfying evening meal. The service is always on point and it's hard to beat the prices. Popped in at noon on a Saturday and was happy it wasn't wildly busy because I was borderline hangry. We ordered two entrees with our two sides, inhaled those delish rolls and were back on our way. My meatloaf was good, mashed potatoes were perfect with gravy and mixed veggies to balance it all out. Went recently to CP on a Thursday around 7:00 pm for dinner. Some school activity was going on in gbury that day and they were super busy. The kitchen was obviously backed up so our plates were very slow coming. But upon arrival all was fresh hot and CP good. Noticed a large group at another table loudly complaining about the slow service. Perhaps they didn't notice how busy it was or didn't care. They apparently insisted to see the mgr and think they got their dinner compt. They must have stiffed the server too, she was obviously upset getting the brunt of something not her fault. The servers aren't paid an hourly wage and must rely on tips. When a place is super busy it's a sign that it's a good place to go to. So to those impatient people that want individual service consider 1880's next time. Just be prepared a group of 8 can be pricey. read more

Only one star since no lower rating available. Sat for twenty minutes before I finally called for a server. They walked all around us, but, no acknowledgment. Cesar salad with wilted lettuce drowned in Cesar dressing, nasty. Chicken fried steak mostly overcooked batter, the entire serving of mashed potatoes was so stiff and cold it could be lifted with the fork and had some sort of pitiful flavor and the gravy was almost as stiff as the mashed potatoes with a chalky texture. The napkins must have been extra cost since they never materialized, even after they were requested twice. This was my second visit to a Cotton Patch restaurant with the same meal and same experience. Needless to say I will not be returning...don't waste your time or money. read more

My general rule when traveling is to avoid chain restaurants, because I like to explore local food places for experiences I can't get at home. However, we were in Granbury to see a play at the Opera house, and didn't know how much time it would take if we went exploring for a local food place, so we decided to go to the Cotton Patch since it was very near our hotel. I ordered the grilled catfish over rice; my husband got the chicken fried chicken with jalapeno gravy, and both of us were very pleased with our choices. Our waitress Caitlyn was wonderful in keeping my husband supplied with sweet tea without our having to track her down and request it. Even though I broke my traveling "rule," I'm glad I did! Been wanting to try cotton patch for two years now. Never will go again. The soup was horrible. It had a beef jerky posing as bacon. It was disgusting. We got pot roast instead of turkey meal we asked for. My husband EVEN POINTED TO THE MEAL. The waitress said oh I wasn't paying attention sorry. First time for me here but my bf and his mom brought me. I gave this place a 3 star because the service was mediocre and some of the workers seem slightly racist because, they placed us at the very back while the place was pretty empty, and the food was decent. Representation of the place and food was nice though. We ordered Fried mushrooms, catfish and shrimp combo, the catfish, and chicken fried chicken. We got to choose homestyle sides and they were good as well as the fried mushrooms. There was complimentary bread. Bread was good, chicken was good, but the catfish and shrimp was alright. The catfish tasted muddy... I would give this place another try but for first impression, it was okay. Till then? Let's eat! read more

All I ordered was a bowl of potato soup to-go because not only do I love it, but I am not feeling well right now and it's the only thing I can keep down at the moment. I ordered and paid for a BOWL of potato soup without the bacon. That's IT. Got home to find it was only half-way full, (so, a cups worth), and also had the bacon on top. Apparently it was way too much effort to actually FILL the styrofoam bowl with 2 ladles of soup instead of 1, as well as way too difficult for the to-go girl to remember to leave the bacon off.... Not a huge deal, but definitely annoying and frustrating that I didn't get what I paid for. read more

The turkey was a hard as leather the macaroni cheese has zero taste at all, and the kernel corn was dehydrated even though it was soaking in water, I don't know, but the texture was way off. Also, everything was lukewarm at best and it took forever to get our food. I would never go back there for any reason. The restaurant itself was dirty. Apparently they had mop water coming out of the kitchen area all the way into the dining area, and I would say about every other table still had dirty dishes on them for me God knows, when. almost every table was either dirty or had dishes on them from previous customers tables. read more

Ordered pickup after reading all the bad reviews because I felt optimistic. What the hell is this? You didn't think that MAYBE you should try to avoid making my chicken fried steak this soggy. Breading fell off immediately. Not even edible. The green bean juice was all over everything. It was a 5 minute drive from the cotton patch to my house. That's no where near enough time for it to get soggy like that, so I know it was just sitting back there soaking for a while. 0/10 would never recommend this location. Spent $75 on 3 meals and the triple dipper...for being so pricey, even if a ToGo order, customers should receive fair amounts of sides! Also, with the triple dipper(which comes with 3 chip dips) I literally got 12 chips! Meaning I had 4 chips for each large dip! Food is great and worth the money but the staff of this location needs to learn to give enough...otherwise it's not worth the money when they don't. Cotton Patch is one of those no-frills places people come to for comfort foods and good variety. I've been coming here for the past 8 years, and rarely had any issues. Typical menu items include Chicken Fried Steak/Chicken, Burgers, Salads, Grilled items, and Fried Catfish. Served with hot rolls or cornbread, they aim to make sure you're stomach is happy. Sometimes, however, service and be hit-and-miss, as well as the cooking. On a couple of occasions I've had to send something back because of the saltiness of it. Evidently, Granbury has a fascination with salt that I fail to understand. So, if you're trying to keep your sodium level low, it's probably best to tell your waiter/waitress for "no added salt" to your food. The only other complaint are the mashed potatoes. Now, I like skins in my mashed potatoes, but I also like them to be somewhat creamy. This is ultimately where Cotton Patch needs to re-think it's recipe. Potatoes are minimally moist, and have no luster to them whatsoever. Best to pile on the gravy in order to make them tolerable. Other than that...no problem. We come here about every-other-week (or so). Clean, and a nice atmosphere, we know it's likely to be a good meal overall. read more
