The cocktails were spot on, and the steaks came out cooked perfectly. Most of the sides were great, though I'd probably skip the macaroni next time, it just lacked flavor. The complimentary bread with herbed olive oil was a perfect start to the meal. The pricing felt a bit high for what you get, but the ambiance more than makes up for it. Our server was super friendly and did an excellent job pacing the meal so everything flowed smoothly. The only hiccup was a water glass showing up with bright red lipstick on it, but it was taken care of immediately, no harm, no foul. I'm the kind of guy who takes pictures of every meal, this time I didn't because I was busy enjoying them quite a lot! I got the New York Strip and my husband got the duck, both were amazing. For starters we had the artichoke dip which was uncannily good, and the dessert (which we got for free for our anniversary) was simply delicious. The service was great too, very attentive server making sure our glasses were full and that our overall experience was great. I'm not the biggest fan of steak but 1890 makes a pretty good piece of beef. My filet was cooked PERFECTLY (Medium Rare). I added Danish blue cheese on top as well. It was delicious. I even enjoyed the sides: Haricots Verts and Sauteed Spinach. The "Rustic Escargot" small plate was very good. You're basically eating a fancy queso dip. The ambiance and service were very nice. Eighteen Ninety seems to find the perfect balance between upscale dining and comfort food and relaxed cocktails. I love to come sit at the bar and have a drink and you can snag dinner at the bar too. If private dining or a special dinner is what you are looking for they can do that too. My favorite is the pork chop that is SO thick yet still juicy and perfect with a char on the outside. I have tried almost the whole menu and are rarely disappointed. Can you get a fancier steak in FTW/Dallas? Sure but for Granbury and the surrounding area this the THE place to get a great meal. Amazing! We've eaten at Eighteen Ninety a number of times. Each time has been fabulous and tonight was no different. Three of us ate here on a Friday night at 5:30 ahead of a concert nearby at the Granbury Opera House. Once seated, our server, Kendall, was there with water and took our drink order. Kendall was super pleasant and very knowledgeable about the dishes. We ordered the Escargot appetizer and at Kendall's suggestion, we added the lump crab meat. Wow, what a great appetizer. Our pre-dinner cocktails were great too. I had their Old Fashioned. Always real good and my wife had a Cosmopolitan - also tasty. My son had the Potato Leek Soup and the Shrimp and Grits and he said they were both fabulous. My wife and shared the Wedge Salad and the Beef Filet. They offer two types of plate sharing. We opted for the version that allows each of us to get 2 full sides. They even offer to have each of our portion of the filet to be cooked differently. The salad, steak and sides were great. With the appetizer and salad, we didn't finish our steak or sides, but they're going to make a nice snack, breakfast or lunch at home. Of course, we had to shop at the Eighteen Ninety store where we replenished some Premium A White Balsamic vinegar, some Salt-Free Garlic and Herb seasoning, and some Garlic Finishing Salt. We love coming in 1890 for date nights. The food is fantastic. I love the atmosphere however, lately there's been a really large rowdy crowd that comes on Saturday evenings. It's always the same crowd. You'll probably know who I'm talking about. They're rude and obnoxious, and when I politely asked them if they could tone it down, they started making fun of me. Mind you that these people are in their 40s and 50s and acting completely immature and belligerent. Several people have complained and the staff says they know and there's nothing they can do. We usually have a great experience here, but we went on Valentine's Day with the prix fixe three-course meal with additional appetizer options. One of the guests in our party is a vegetarian. There are usually options for her here, but not with this specific limited menu. She wanted to order an appetizer for her meal as an alternative, and the server had to ask permission for her to do so. He would not allow her to also get a salad as that was only on the 3-course option. For such a classy place, you would think they would have a little flexibility in situations like this. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves attention. My girlfriend bit into a wooden skewer hidden in her dish -- something that absolutely should not happen. Accidents can happen in restaurants, but what bothered us most was the response. Instead of taking responsibility or offering any sort of refund for the mistake, we were only offered a free dessert. We declined, and after that, the staff avoided us. They left us sitting there without the check for an uncomfortably long time, to the point where it felt like we were being held hostage at the table. A sincere apology and basic customer care would have gone a long way. Instead, we left feeling ignored and dismissed. I had to balance the richness of the shrimp and grits with a Caesar salad. Their salad was made proper with anchovies and garlic. Probably one of the best salads I've ever had! We thought we would try this restaurant yesterday evening, and we were not disappointed!! We visit Granbury every weekend or so and stay out on the lake. We plan to try all the local spots and figured tonight we would have a taste of this one. Based on the restaurant, we wanted to make sure we would be dressed appropriately as neither of us wanted to change after making the drive out. After calling, the dress code was "polished" casual and thankfully there was no waitlist on as of yet on Thursday. The staff greeted us promptly and were friendly, and our server, Cruz, was very attentive and delivered outstanding service. We started by enjoying their Potato Leek soup. It was presented beautifully and every bite was delightful. We then shared a very large dinner Ahi Tuna salad and enjoyed the complimentary two-color bread and garlic dipping oil. I forgot to take pics but when I remembered I was half way there helping the meal. We both ordered duck (one of our favorites), though they had many enticing dishes to try, like their house-aged beef or their Chilean Sea Bass (another fave). We paired our entrees with a wonderful red wine and proceeded to enjoy our meal. We ended with ordering two to-go desserts (forgot to get those pics too). Both their Traditional Banana Pudding and their Kahlua Infused Chocolate Cake w/Salted Carmel Glaze were delicious, with our favorite being the chocolate cake. With tip, it came to over $200 for two, so no different than what you'd expect out on the town in downtown Dallas.
