Pulled pork quesadilla and hatched chili Mac
    Christina B.

OK, getting a drivers license in Texas right now is crazy, I had to wait two months and drive out to Tolar, to get one... Next-door was this amazing barbecue place, everyone at the DPS office was talking about it and they couldn't quit raving about their patty melts. After Smelling them, while waiting in the queue, I had to go get something. I walked into Hill city chophouse. Outback, they have wood grills running and the smell was making me drool for hours. When I walked in, I didn't see Patti melt on the menu so I ended up ordering a quesadilla with pulled pork. It was damn tasty, they are very generous with the meat and the meat was succulent. I also got a side of their hatch, macaroni and cheese because I wanted to try it. I have to say the quesadilla was perfect, their green tea sauce has a little cake to it, and it was a perfect accompaniment. The hatch mac & cheese was a little light on flavor, but when you mix it in some of the tomatillos stuff it kicked butt. The only letdown I had there was the beans, they're just wasn't a depth of flavor to them, and there were so much other good food. I didn't want to waste space while sitting there eating my quesadilla. Someone came in in order to Patti and I went you can get one... The Grill master/owner came out to talk to his friend and I mentioned I wanted to try the patty melt and so he whipped me one up... It was to die. Totally worth all the hype, it was juicy and it had lots of good pepper in it. The cheese was perfectly melted, and bread was crispy and buttery and perfect. I put half my quesadillas away most of the patty melt. While sitting there I was talking to his friend and Grimm and he discussed his smoked turkey but they were out, so now I have to drive all the way back to Tolar to try the turkey cause it is totally worth it. I highly recommend taking a trip just to eat. By the way, the people there are super sweet, and couldn't be nicer. So when you're in Tolar next to Granbury, stop by and say hi.

3 meats- sausage, brisket and pulled pork 3 sides- macaroni (regular), slaw and beans Bread pudding

First time trying here and it was very good! Staff was super friendly and the food came out fast! My husband and I shared the 3 meat and 2 sides platter (which was way more than enough) we had so much leftovers. We got shredded pork, brisket and sausage. The brisket and sausage were so so good! The pork was just ok (in my opinion). We got the beans, regular Mac and coleslaw. Everyone raved about the coleslaw, personally it wasn't my favorite. I enjoy the sweet type of slaw and this was not sweet at all. The macaroni was so so good! Also the beans were spicy and great as well. We'd order those again. My husband got the bread pudding and it said it was fantastic. This place is definitely a good bbq place and we will go back

    Very clean bathrooms!

Guy, y'all have to eat here!!! Personally, I rank this BBQ as some of the best I've ever had! As soon as you walk in, you're created by very friendly staff. Get in line to order your food, and you're met with the great staff. My husband and I got a three meat, two side plate to split, and we still had left overs to take home! Each meat is 1/2 pound, and the sides are huge. I cannot believe the amount of food you get for their prices! Jalepeno Cheddar sausage : Soooo good! Very juicy, the cheese oozes out with just a hint of jalepeno. Ribs: I am not a fan of ribs in general, but I would eat a whole rack of these ribs as they are so tender and fall off the bone. Turkey: Smokey and peppery, while remaining juicy. Very good flavor. Sides: Tator salad: Mustered base, and good. Nothing special, but definitely very good. Slaw: EXCELLENT! Only open Thursday-Sunday from 11a-2p. Met some family from Stephenville here, and they said they found a new spot to keep going back too. About a 20 minute drive from Stephenville and about an hour from Fort Worth. We will absolutely be back. Well done, y'all!

Three meat plate with sliced brisket, turkey breast, waygu jalapeño sausage with basic Mac and cheese and borracho beans.

We're always checking out new Texas BBQ places. We saw this on the Texas Monthly up and coming bbq places and decided to check it out. The brisket was thick, juicy slices that melted in your mouth. The turkey breast had great flavor with the pepper rub. The stand out for us was the waygu jalapeño sausage. Great snap and extra cheesy! It has some kick, but wasn't too hot. The sides were good but not great, but still wouldn't be surprised to see this on Texas Monthly's Top 50 next year. Would definitely make the stop again.

2 meat plate: ribs, jalapeño cheddar sausage, potato salad & slaw.

I looked on Yelp, and it had great reviews, so we were definitely interested in going. Upon arrival, we got a great parking spot and headed into an uncrowded restaurant. We were met immediately and taken to a table against the far wall. Menus delivered quickly, and finding out we had never been to this location, our waitress gave us plenty of time to review the options. Asked about what she would recommend, she said it was all good. We ordered an appetizer called Wagon Wheel. It's a fried cheese wheel of cheddar, gouda, and parmesan. It's sprinkled with bacon, green onions, and has a dollop of jalapeno cream cheese in the middle. It sort of looks like a thin pizza. We all loved it! The restaurant is kind of a gourmet burger place and everyone besides me ordered that. I saw that they offered a country fried wagu steak, and I ordered that. It came with garlic cream potatoes, honey-bourbon baked beans, and a cornbread pancake. The food came out quickly and was just as everyone ordered. The others in the party enjoyed their food, and I really, really, really liked mine (I would order again). The only complaints were about the seasoning. It seemed like the chef forget it on all of our meals. The only other complaint had to do with the extreme heat in the guy's restroom. Will I return? I will if we are back in Stephenville visiting and anyone suggests going out to eat:)

The location right on the square is perfect, and the ambiance is warm and inviting, ideal for a special night out or a celebratory dinner. The food is consistently excellent. The Chilean sea bass is a standout, perfectly cooked every time. The seared scallops are wonderful, with a beautiful crust and tender inside. I've had the salmon multiple times and it's always nicely seared on the outside and wonderfully tender and flaky. For appetizers, the pear & Brie crostini is a must-order sweet, savory, and absolutely delicious. Yes, it's a bit on the pricier side, but the quality, presentation, and service more than justify it. This is a busy spot (especially on weekends), so reservations are highly recommended. From start to finish, everything about Christina's feels special. Attentive service, beautiful plates, and food that tastes like it was made with care. If you're in Granbury, make the time to eat here -- you won't regret it. This restaurant has wonderful space--they have indoor seating and then a separate, HUGE pavilion. We opted for the pavilion because it is dog-friendly. It was perfect--multiple TVs, long bench-style tables for parties of all sizes, a stage for live music, a small bar area, and outside of it, pickleball courts! To eat, I ordered some "Mozzarella Cheese sticks," a "Brisket Sandwich," and a side of "Mac and Cheese." The cheese sticks came out fresh with cheese melted and dangling with every bite as it should. The brisket in the sandwich was moist and tender and the Mac and cheese was also very flavorful and delicious. I topped it off with some sweet tea. The cherry on top for us was the wonderful customer service--a manager/owner came out and spoke with us, asked where we were from and thanked us for coming by. Great hospitality. I ordered the Massey Mess with pulled pork. It's a frito pie with delicious BBQ. The serving is massive. My wife had the loaded baked potato with brisket. She couldn't finish hers either. Both dishes were delicious. The meat was tender and full of flavor. All the ingredients were fresh. The service just couldn't be beat, beginning with the owner. Todd Massey himself greeted us as we came in and gave us a warm welcome. He answered all our questions about the menu. How often does THAT happen? The serving staff is sweet, friendly, and attentive. There are fans on the perimeter and ceiling fans to keep everyone comfortable. The lighting was great and the sound of the band was too. There are ample clean bathtrooms. We sat there on a Saturday evening eating delicous BBQ and listening to good music. There were kids playing in the grassy area behind the pavillion. Couples got up and danced to their favorite songs. There was a nice breeze blowing. In the distance you can see the golf course. Folks, it just doesn't get much better than this. Mr. Massey even made sure we had a good time and thanked us for coming as we left.
