My family and I stopped here for breakfast after visiting Silverwood Theme Park. My Husband got the BBIT aka Best breakfast in town with the side of biscuits and gravy. He said the BBIT was delicious and definitely lived up to it's name. He would order that again. However the homemade biscuits were reminiscent of old shoe leather that had to be chiseled into pieces. My 12 year old daughter had the Hungry Farmers omelette. This omelette came with a side of Home fries and biscuits and gravy. She thought her omelette was delicious. She said she would order it again but swap out the hard biscuits for toast instead. She said the home fries tasted as if Jesus himself came down from the heavens and made these golden delicious chunks of potatoes for her. My 9 year old daughter got the French toast. Regular not stuffed. She loved the powdered sugar on top of her French toast. She said she would order it again. She said it was one of the best French toast breakfasts she has ever had! My 4 year old daughter had one pancake, one egg and one piece of bacon. She said hers was sooo good. It was as good as chocolate cake she said...;) Her bacon was extra crispy which we would not have liked but she lived it. I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs Benedict came with a side of home fries. The eggs, English muffin and hollandaise sauce was absolutely amazing. Comfort food at its best. The Canadian bacon on the Benedict was less than to be desired. I took it off and did not eat it. It was just a slice of lunch meat on each muffin. The home fries were delicious. Fried perfectly. I would order this again. Our server was not very friendly but she was not terrible either. We would go back! read more

With how small this town is, I am pleasantly surprised every time I go to Country Boy cafe. I live in Las Vegas but my family is from this area and when I go visit we always go to this place. It is not just good "for a small town," it is good in general. I would visit the Country Boy Cafe if it opened in Vegas. However, because of it being the best food within 20 miles either way this place can be busy. Since I always come with my family we are in a pretty large group. Even then we have never waited long - but the "waiting area" is an outside porch. It has walls but in the winter its FREEZING. They are absolutely fine if you wait inside by the cash register. The zucchini fries were a delight. The french dip is a favorite. I'll have to take more pictures next time I go because these are some of their best items and they don't show them on Yelp yet! Country Boy Café is a small local spot that is great for Breakfast or Lunch. I helped open the new Super 1 Foods in Athol this Spring, and we ate at Country Boy each day for a late breakfast or lunch and it was tasty. Fresh and delicious homemade soups, the clam chowder was fantastic. Breakfast hit the spot and the hash browns were seriously on point, cooked perfectly. I also tried the Pork Cutlet sandwich and it was seriously good, perfectly cooked and crispy. Stop in to the Country Boy Café and you will leave full and happy! Ok so I had heard good things about this place and was excited to try it because I love local businesses and who doesn't need a good breakfast spot. I ordered their version of the breakfast sandwich. The sausage was not very tasty and the English muffin tasted like it hadn't been toasted. The wait for the food was long and there were flies all over the place. I appreciate this place but a few minor improvements like stepping up their sausage game and getting rid of the flies would go a long way. read more

Was a little busy when we came in for breakfast. After watching people come in after us, get menus and order we wondered why we hadn't got menus. The worst part is is that the server walked straight past us twice with a handful of menus never giving us one and put them away. Mind you there were several other servers and staff around. This quaint cafe had really good food. I ordered a chef salad. All the greens were crisp and fresh. The toppings were abundant. For the price it was well worth it. I was pretty excited to try a local cafe for breakfast and had heard good things about this place. It was okay. I had steak and eggs. My steak had no flavor. I thought only Dennys could cook the taste right out of food, but they managed to do that here. I had home fries with it. Generally home fries are potatoes with peppers and onions. These were just potatoes and they were cooked to parade rest--well done. No flavor either. My over easy eggs were over hard for sure. No yolk action at all. The biscuit and gravy was good. I'll give them that. My wife had a BLT and I had a bite, it was tasty. She also ordered a salad and they were out of ranch dressing (at 10:00 am), what were they gonna do for the lunch people? The service was dreadfully slow, but the waitress was great (I'm told she is the owner). I hate ripping small local establishments, but based on my meal and the length of time we spent there, I just can't bring myself in good conscious to rate this place any higher. read more

One of those hometown feeling restaurants with that family feel to it. Got here around 11am and it was packed. Came in with a party of 6 and got us seated in 20 or so mins. I got the country fried steak with Idaho sounds with gravy on everything. Tasted very good and was pretty stuffed. The service was great and nice. Coffee cup empty, had to get my own utensils from an empty table, etc. When I first arrived, I Sat here for 15 minutes before the waitress stopped by with a glass of water. This is a country diner. Huge portions for reasonable prices. Everything is fried and sauces and gravies are encouraged. The staff is friendly and service is prompt. If you are vegan or dieting, this is probably not for you. On the other hand, if you are a huge eater, or playing the part of one for the day, this is an awesome breakfast spot. Yum! We ordered the stuffed French toast 3 pieces, Spanish omelet with home fries, biscuits and gravy, French toast, and bacon. Bacon is nice and thick. Yummy Stuffed French toast. Two pieces would have been more than enough. I wish the berries were either fresh or defrosted frozen. I think they would be better flavor that way. Biscuits and gravy were ok. Being a small-town guy, there's something comforting about stopping by places like this when I'm vacation. "Places like this" means little restaurants where the locals eat. Every little town (including mine) has one. My wife & I had a late breakfast and, as expected, portions were generous. It wasn't the best we've ever had but not bad at all. I would have added at least one more star except: the service was neither attentive nor especially friendly. I sort of had the impression they didn't really care if we were there or not, which was a shame. First time here. Saw they had good Yelp reviews so decided to give it a try for dinner. First thing I noticed...they were BUSY! Good sign so far! Very laid back, typical cafe atmosphere. Friendly service. GREAT food. Portions are HUGE! We had taco salads and the chicken fried steak. Both were so good and way better than we even expected! Oh, and the cornbread is like cornCAKE! Foods fantastic for the most part, employees.. Not so much. They've always been rude when we rarely come in. Tried calling to check close time and no one answered. Drove over an hour to go there specifically, because according to the website they were open all day with the new owners. Get there and refused service because we arrived 15 min before closing. Could have used that extra money in my opinion. Won't be returning for a long while. Update your website, or serve your customers when they call you out. read more

Athol is a very small town, so I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. We had the salmon, fish and chips, and pancakes. All three were great! The staff were nice and attentive.
