We travel there often and always stay at covered bridge, and always have a fantastic time. The first host you come across is very nice, even in the uncertain times of covid 19. Our site is always fantastic, with a grilling fire pit and picnic table. The campground has many bathrooms and dumpsters throughout, so you don't have to travel far for either. Heads up that some sites have a stair case you have to haul your stuff up, but it's totally worth it. Those are some of the best sites along outer loop of the campground. A short walk will bring you to the swift river, an awesome place to get sun and hang out. Trails and waterfalls line the highway, take your pick, it's all amazing!!! We just love it here so so much. My husband is an outdoors enthusiast and has tons experience camping so I felt comfortable knowing that if this experience was less than glamping (i.e. a place to plug in my hairdryer - btw bring a hair dryer and conditioner) I would be fine. Well, it more than met my requirements for glamping. We stayed in Trappeur Tent #45 right by the brook. There's enough distance from adjacent tents that you do have privacy without feeling totally secluded in the woods. Each tent has electricity, running (potable) water, flushing toilet, a shower and basic toiletries. There's no cooking in the tent so be prepared to do all your meals on the outdoor grill. The kitchen area is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, bowls, glasses, utensils, cutting board, colander, cutting board and basic cleaning products. There's a small refrigerator but no freezer. We had a cooler that was stocked with food and ice that we stored in the bear proof outdoor storage unit. There's a fire pit that we used every day. NH has a strict law about bringing wood in from out of state, so you do need to purchase wood from them. All the details about this are on the website when you register. You have an option to bring your own linens, but we opted to have them provide it by registering for the Zen rate (again all is explained on the website). Our unit had one queen size bed and two bunk beds. There was a portable floor fan in the unit for cooling. We didn't need it because it got to the lower 50's at night and upper 70's during the day. The tent does have a wood stove for heating that we did not use. You do have to bring your own towels for the pool. On site there's a basketball court, playground, ping pong table, corn hole, foosball table, bocce ball court, movie night, other activities like yoga, kayaks and tubes for rent, and a variety of board games. You cannot drive your car to your unit but there are plenty of carts in your assigned parking area to haul your stuff from your car to your unit. You do have to dispose of your trash at their localized trash site which is a bit of a walk from your unit. OK it was a bit of an effort but I got my steps in for the day with that task alone. The food truck is great. We enjoyed crepes and coffee each morning. There are also muffins and smoothies. I am told that the pizza is quite good. The food truck opens at 7:30 AM. Check when you register what their hours of operation are since they run two shifts - morning and afternoon/evening. With all those details I was most impressed and grateful for the beauty of the site as well as the genuine friendliness of the staff. You are in the middle of the woods in the White Mountains "roughing" it with all the amenities. I was truly at peace and had some of the best sleep in months. We're heading back in September to do some hiking. I'm sure I'll rattle on about that experience in a few months. Just go! Have fun!

Glamorous Camping AKA Glamping this memorial day weekend…read more This is the second time in a row we came here. The place is very peaceful with all the facilities of a service apartment. Furnished tents with fresh linens, kitchen stuff. Our tent had a full bathroom with stack of fresh towels, soaps and shampoos. It is a pet friendly place with swimming pool, volleyball and basketball ground, food truck good staff. Both the evenings of our stay, they had a concert and magic show for kids. Kids loved it. I am definitely coming back to stay in their nee Chalet cabins.

Our site was super spacious and easily fit three tents, our minivan, and chairs around the fire. I was especially impressed by the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I counted about five functional toilet stalls, as well as two showers. There was toilet paper available and multiple sinks, which all had hot and cold water. There was also a washing area for dishes around the corner as well as a laundry room right next to the women's restroom. Everyone was very respectful of lights out as well as quiet hours.

The sites are spaced enough apart (with the exception of a few joint sites) that you don't feel like you're on top of your neighbor. Some of the sites now have new shelters built on site, which was a great surprise when we came in July and it was downpouring! 2.) Super clean and updated bathroom facilities. Showers are 25 cents for 3 minutes, they also have laundry room. 3.) Tons of hiking opportunities nearby and lots to do in the area. 15-20 minutes to Mt. Washington and North Conway. 4.) Staff is super nice and helpful! Since it's out in the middle of the woods, there is no cell phone service. Also, last few years it hasn't been a problem but a few years in a row about 5 years ago we had a black bear come through our site a few times. Since it was a problem for a few months the bear was relocated. Just a heads up to put all food and trash away as you should at any campsite!

Called me back after leaving a message. - The tent sites are very nice, level, VERY SPACIOUS and PRIVATE! - Close to hiking in the local area - Free hot shower - Value priced Needs improvement: - My one requirement was flush toilets. The tent camping area only has port-a-potties which were clean and OK but I have become a "camping snob" being seasonal at 5 star resort. LOL! It is a 1/2 mile walk round trip to the main bathhouse. They had some issues and was closed Saturday evening and Sunday. There is a single uni-sex bathroom with shared shower near office (but can be a line). NOTE: They do look like they are building something next to the old bathhouse. - The bathrooms over all could use refurbishing. They were clean but just old. Other things: - Pool (didn't use) - Rec Hall (didn't use) - Food truck on Friday night (didn't visit)

I just stayed 4 nights at the campground- and I feel it's a great choice for the area…read more What I needed was a basically a base camp where I could have a nice tent camping space that would be used mostly for sleeping (vs. staying at the campground for relaxing, using the river, cooking, etc). My space, #57, was very large for tent camping, had a picnic table and fire pit (which I didn't use). There was plenty of flat, root-free space for me to pitch the tent. I put my tent on flat, hard-packed sand...which is fine but I would recommend a mat or towel for the tent entry way to wipe your feet and leave your shoes on. I used the shower daily. The shower I used was clean, plenty of hot water, good water pressure...and free! The bathroom was bare bones but clean and well maintained. The campground was busy but I didn't feel it was rowdy and certainly wasn't loud. The quiet hours were observed when I was there. But for me, Bearcamp River Campground is about its owners. They take great care of the campground and great care of the people who stay there. Just one example, I was (very) late for my Wed. night check in. I called and was told the parking gate pass would be waiting for me and it would be no problem at all to be late...just make myself at home. I really appreciate their accommodating me. Overall, 5 stars. It's it a great setting, a well maintained facility, run by nice people who genuinely want you to have a good time and will do anything to make sure you do.
