Just to Clarify: This is a YELP review for Country Cousin in Centralia! When speaking to management about a refund that has not been refunded after 5 days, I was given the cold shoulder. She was harsh and non-empathetic over the phone. I was given the brush off and told that the issue would take hours for her to resolve and she is off work at 2pm (my problem how?). My daughters card was charged by mistake. My daughter is on a limited income with special needs. This amount is well over $100.00 and a real concern to my family. My question is this... It shouldn't take over 5 hours if your management team was working on the problem all along, right? Also, why haven't you been working on it? Country Cousin offers solid food, good portions and even better breakfasts. This wasn't the first time for me, but this is my first review. My friend got a huge veggie omelette, with country potatoes and a biscuit. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I got the French Dip with fries. It was tasty. Nothing "WOW" about it, but it was tasty. The fries were a bit on the soggy side. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant has a nice gift shop area with some fun tchotchke stuff. The restaurant itself does needs an update. It's kind of dark and dusty. Not necessarily dirty, but it's old and could probably use a good, thorough cleaning. The carpets look well worn. This place is a great spot to stop for a meal or snack between Portland and Seattle. The inside is standard with booths and tables on one side and a lounge on the other side with a small gift shop stuffed in the middle. But the food was great! BLT was toasted perfectly with a lot of crispy bacon. A little skimpy on shredded lettuce but was still good. The hot turkey dinner was a full plate of several slices of turkey, big scoop of mashed potatoes, dressing and a tiny cup of cranberry sauce. All smothered in turkey gravy! My friend and I stoped here for a lunch on our road trip from Albany, OR to Seattle, WA. My friend has eaten here several times and enjoys their food. Food - I ordered the Pork Roast diner plate. The meat was very tender, moist and delicious. The cubes of potato & carrots were fork tender and also delicious. The slices of onion, in my opinion, were a little large but it was easy enough to use my knife to cut it in half. The gravy was delicious and not too thick. My friend ordered the pot roast sandwich. She said it was good. Service - the hostess guided us to our table and brought us our waters. The waitress/server took our order, brought our food and checked on us twice which is awesome. She also refilled my water once and offered to fill it again but I declined. She was very attentive. Ambiance - it is definitely an awesome step back into time place. I love seeing items that were used on the farms back in the day. It really set the theme. I absolutely loved the chicken print fabric that covered the light shades that were over the tables. The restaurant was very clean. Lots of open parking and easy access into the restaurant. The only downside to this place was there were no hand rails in the female bathroom stall. I have had nothing but great food and experiences here at the Country Cousin! Located right off of I-5 at Exit 82, the Country Cousin serves delicious, comfort food at a very reasonable price. Been there three times: solo, with just the kids, and as a whole family. Each time I had superb and caring service (they're great with kids). As for the food ... so good. Down home cooking that fills you up. Some of things we've had that have all been good: Chicken Fried Steak and a Patty Melt (two of my favorites), Cheeseburgers, Mini Corn Dogs, Chicken Strips, Turkey & Potatoes Dinner). Dessert was apple pie for one of us and berry crunch (cobbler) for the other. The pie slice was very generous. In the past year, I've been here at least three or four more times. I wish I had something positive to add, but I won't be coming back here again. The establishment has dim lighting for a reason. It's SO dirty. The last table we were sat at was next to a window that had flies everywhere both dead and living. My water glass had lipstick on it. I shutter thinking about the silverware. It was my Mom & Dad's anniversary and they had eaten here often so I thought it would be the perfect place to remember them. I wanted to eat in the bar, but it was so cold that there was no way I could stay in there. I asked the host for a table and he made it clear I could not spread out a table of four as they were saving it for larger groups. I wanted to do some paper work and he didn't appear to care. It was Wednesday night, and they had several booths open. After going thru the dining room, I finally said to the host, "how about this booth...I will just sit here". He was regrettably ok with it. (what ever happened to that customer is #1?) I ordered a cocktail before my meal, but I had to remind the server as it was not arriving after some time. It was obvious he had forgotten the drink. I ordered a patty melt for dinner and it was large. Two patties, but very bland. I could tell if if there was any seasoning on them The accompanying french fries also had zero seasoning, so I added salt and pepper. And...the asked for tartar sauce came in a portion cup with the lid still on...very tacky. And finally, the guest check is delivered with a questionnaire written on it...the issue is that the host sees this receipt upon payment, so I did not leave any comments. read more

Absolutely wonderful country diner. We used to stop by on every trip through southern WA, but now live a little closer and made a point of coming down. Previously we only ever did that on rare occasion and for the fried chicken, specifically. Sadly that is no longer on the menu... even though everyone I know loved it. People talked about it even up in the Seattle area. Sad, although admittedly the rest of the menu is also delicious. The staff are always friendly and you're always greeted by a rooster at the door. This place almost gets 5 stars from me. They've kept the decor country over the years and the gratuitous country attitude and delicious country food we love. Best hashbrowns ever! Crispy crust and delicate inside. Eggs cooked perfectly, and fluffy delicious biscuits (with apple butter). Everything is fresh and made there.
