I was at a private party at the oh-so-very atmospheric McMenamins in downtown Centralia last month, and the service alone deserved a gold medal! The drinks kept flowing, the tasty buffet kept being refreshed and just when you thought you were full, the most gorgeous tray of desserts arrived! Loved this place! We had great service in the bar area, our happy hour smash burgers were delicious and we enjoyed all of the beers/ciders we tried. Not the biggest fan of the style of fries they have here, but to each their own. The vibe is very unique and there is good entertainment with the pool tables, pinball, and shuffleboard. We came here for lunch and to stamp our passports en route back to Seattle and we had enjoyed ourselves a lot. The games (shuffleboard, pool, etc) were a super fun options, and the ambiance with all the historical aspects and plants made it even more special. I'd love to return for a movie and wish we had a place similar in our neighborhood of White Center Seattle. This review is most importantly being written to give a shout out to our bartender/waitress Chelsea. She was spectacular--extremely friendly, welcoming, and took her time to assist us regardless of being busy. With my multiple food sensitivities/allergies, she was willing to make suggestions and adjustments to my meal. She was understanding and made me feel understood. The burger and tots were spectacular! Came in for a bday celebration today. (Mother in laws ). Service was ok. I think because it was sat it was busy. They ran out of pizza.. bummer. So I made a second choice. Reuben meat was tough for me. Taking half home. Hubby will eat. I ended up throwing half Sammy away next day he didn't want it. The only thing that looked good was the fries cause they were hand cut looked like and natural looking, wings, salads. They were busy on Sat just due to location downtown and shopping area. They would not allow us to bring a homemade cake into the establishment. ( health code violation?) sooo we couldn't make a big deal out of her 93rd. Not good. Old, dark and greasy food at tourist prices. Pizza fell apart, oddly shaped with dry toppings and too much cheese. The Caesar was ok but it's grocery store quality at $14. I was looking for the McMenamin's Olympic Theater and the GPS led me here. There was no box office, but just a pub. I kept walking in and out, checking the other store fronts next door to see if maybe I was int he wrong place, but no, this was the place. You just have to walk to the back room, wait for the guy at the register to check you in, and you can order food there that they will serve you in the theater. I got a burger, fries, and a hard cider and it was all pretty good. This place is where the locals hang out and they don't really bother you and they're not helpful or anything, but that's okay- I wouldn't bother to help either if I was a local and people came in to find the cool theater hiding in the back. It's a small place in the front with tables in the back, so it's very intimate. We were here during the daytime so there wasn't a lot of action, but looks like there'd be more energy if you show up on the weekends. read more

Stopped by for some food and was pleasantly surprised that it has so much more to offer: food AND games! When you walk in you walk past a long bar with many stools into a large seating area that shares the floor with multiple pool tables, shuffle boards, and pinball machines! Staff there were very friendly and food was served quickly. They have plenty of burgers, sandwiches, and drink options. I ordered the El Diablo - chicken sandwich which sadly was missing flavor. After finishing your food/drink you can rent a table to play pool/shuffle board for $5 an hour. If you stop by do not forget to go to the bathroom! I'm in town for one night, I'm on a two week roadtrip. We stopped in after a 9 hour drive day. We were hungry! I ordered the dip sandwich with fries. It was good, a little on the salty side, but hit the spot. What surprised us, was that they had plenty of pool tables that you pay $5 an hour. Pescatarian Alert: The Ahi here is good quality and ample for your meal here. I have spent the last year working 2wks a month in WA, and am always shocked with the inability to get good fish outside of Seattle. Now, I shall bounce between McMenamins and Royal Sushi in Chehalis for my meals, while working in Centralia. Vibe: PNW vibes are strong here. The loud-ass bartender is legit living his best life, making the loudness adorable instead of grating. The servers are either fantastic actors, or they actually enjoy their lives too. My server saved me from ordering a glass off the HH menu 9 min too early. I saw a server correct people at a big table who didn't realize that due to their party size, tip was included. (Who does that?! Maybe I'm just a bad person, but when I served, I giggled with delight when I got double tipped by accident.) There are pool tables and games that are separated from the eating area, but just by a little, which is nice. I'm here on work so I'm alone, but I can imagine if 2 people in a party of 4+ want to play, it's nice for them to be not too close and not too far. There's also board games and books in the mini library, so super chill vibe. Will come back. You should visit. Don't let the name "Tourist bar" discourage you. ***I'm a NYer, so if anything sounds negative, read it through that lens. Great place to go for a weekend getaway. Hotel is comfy and clean. You can watch a movie in the theatre on a couch or comfy chair while having a drink! The 2 bars are super cool. If you haven't been to Oregon or Washington, you haven't been to a McMenamins. If you have spent time in these PNW locales, you have at least heard the name. And if you've actually visited any of their locations, you "know"...you just know. McMenamins is an experience. The locations are quirky, typically historic and a treat to explore...they provide so much eye candy that you probably won't get a chance to absorb all the details in a single visit. And the tots! Yes, the Cajun tots with ranch is worth the visit alone. But get a craft beverage (or two, or three) while there. I tried three hard ciders and they were each unique & delicious. I rounded out my meal with a cheeseburger and I have to say, it was one of the best burgers I've had recently. If you go to a show (I watched Dune: Part Two) there's enough ambient light to eat without fumbling about. Yes, it does affect the screen image quality a bit, so factor that in...it's a compromise that's worth being able to enjoy your dinner and drinks during the show. Insider tip: go during happy hour and this fun, funky and delicious experience will be about what you pay for ticket, drink and popcorn at the generic cinamaplexamacmallits. Only McMenamins is leaps and bounds cooler my friends. Oh yeah, there's a McMenamins passport program which I did not know about until after I had left. First a caveat: this is a McMenamin's establishment, and all that that portends. What I mean is mediocre "craft" beer and mediocre food. McMenamin's establishments also famously have slow service, but that hasn't proved to be the case here. That said, the Olympic Club is a gem of old space, and we're lucky that the McMenamin's preserved it. Goregous cut class windows and chandeliers. Beautiful wood bar. The bathrooms have orginal fixtures. The first time I came in here I was astonished by the huge porcelain urinals in the men's room from the turn of the 20th century. There's pool here. Play a few games. Drink a beer. Check out this "step back in time" beautiful old club. It's worth your time just to pop in and look around. read more

One of the most beautiful bars I've seen in a long time. We had a booth with a stained glass canopy. Service super friendly. I had the reuben--looked overgrilled but wasn't. Was greasy and slippery and a little hard to eat but that's almost a plus for me. There were sufficient napkins. The tots were perfectly crisp but a few more would have been nice, especially for the price. Really disappointed in this McMenamins location. We arrived and were told to seat ourselves. After searching for a table for our party of 3, we were unable to find a booth or table that would suit us and ended up at a large table. About 5-10 minutes go by without greeting and we are rudely interrupted mid conversation, forced to switch tables because Saturday is "very busy". We were moved to a booth (previously occupied) next to tables that had not been cleaned. We had lost all interest in ordering food and left after one drink. This establishment was not busy whatsoever, though appeared to lack tables for parties of 4. The table we had previously sat was empty upon departure, as well as the large table next to it. I know a lot of people travel between Portland and Seattle, but I can assure you this is out of the way and not a good place to stop. read more

We stopped in fairly late for a bite to eat. After seeing the prices for a hamburger (16-20 dollars) we decided against the food and just played some pool and pinball. I have heard from others, the food is fantastic, but I can't justify that kinda price hike on a burger. The rooms are very unique and it's definitely a place I would stop in for drinks or pool or to rent a room but be prepared its a little pricey. Really loved the ambiance though. Lovely restaurant bar with some really great, friendly staff and good food/drinks. This place has the typical McMenamins vibe where it's quirky but yet historically intact. A beautiful space that for the history is worth a visit. They will be celebrating their 116th year for this location on Jan 20th 2023. Server was super friendly and accommodating the entire time. Made us feel super welcome. We ordered 2 Aztec salads and 1 Greek salad(can't remember the name) with the added grilled chicken. Super huge salads that were filling and it was noticeable that all the ingredients were fresh. The grilled chicken had flavor and was quite a good addition. Tried their pomegranate basque cheesecake and it was to pretty amazing. It was a little lighter than your traditional NY cheesecake. Would recommend for anyone to try this place! read more

We had the truffle fries, pretzels with cheese and clam chowder along with some Blackberry Cider, Apple Cider Mimosa and a variety of beer. The food was okay...nothing special about it. The blackberry cider was pretty tasty as well as the apple cider mimosa. Wanted to try the cranberry orange cider, but it wasnt available on tap. Ended up buying a few cans to go, because if you try to purchase the cans to drink there, they charge you an extra $3 per can. Our waiter could use some work on his customer service...maybe could use a few tips from the other waiter that was working the floor. Due to the current situation, indoor eating is not allowed, but there is a tent outback where you can sit to eat/drink. I want to start off by saying I have been to Oly Club many times but my date Tim had not. The service was great! The food is a bit overpriced for the quality but what you're really paying for is ambiance inside, pool tables, wood fireplace, cool hanging plants. The place is a hodgepodge of character but where they lose you is the back patio area...you wouldn't even know you were eating at the same restaurant and it honestly felt a little dirty. Don't get me wrong because outdoor seating is a plus regardless but it just needs a facelift. It certainly doesn't offer the same experience as the inside does. Lastly, Tim ordered steak tacos that were just ok, I had the Greek salad that was just ok, although the chicken was cooked perfectly. I said no pickled red onion because I had no idea if my date who was a total babe was going to kiss me..he did not make a move so it's quite possible that was an amazing Greek salad but without the picked onions I may never know. After checking in to the hotel, we stopped into the pub for a quick snack before heading out to visit friends up north for the day. Our server, a diminuitive redhead whose name I can't remember, was incredible: attentive, friendly and personable! We ordered a distillery flight of brandies, with pretzel sticks & fondue. Neither of us had had brandy before, but we were pleasantly surprised by them! My wife loved the Pear brandy, while I appreciated the other two much more. I wasn't prepared for how strong they were at first, and oddly enough, they became less aggressively potent as they became darker. I think the Pot Still Brandy was my favorite, as it was the most whiskey-esque of the three. Pretzel sticks were soft, warm, chewy, salty...all the correct adjectives! The fondue used a different type of cheese than I'm used to...more cheddar-y with a hint of garlic, I believe, but very tasty! Needless to say, there were no leftovers. This is always a fun stop on our passport adventures. The hotel is super creepy to me but I love hopping over there for the hotel photo hunts. I'm a history junkie so the McMenamins buildings are some of my favorite places. This place is full of awesome history & vintage stuff that they've collected, or came with, the building. This night we stopped in for stamps and dinner. We sat at the bar since it was a busy Friday night and the restaurant area was pretty full. We expected to wait a little longer for food since we ordered in the bar, and that it was busy, so we ordered drinks and kicked back to people watch. The bar tenders are very friendly and checked in on us regularly. Drinks are good and they're really great about making custom drinks. This location has my most favorite soft pretzels and cheese. We also ordered some tacos and clam chowders. All our food was great & served hot. We'll be back soon with our next passports. read more

We stayed the night at the Olympic Hotel last night. We purchased the prohibition package, which included a $40 dinner and $30 breakfast. We also grabbed drinks throughout the night. Definitely worth it to buy a package. The food was really tasty. The atmosphere is super cool and unique. We also got an hour of pool with our package. I thoroughly enjoyed my mystic burger and we were able to get our breakfast to go and have it in our room this morning. I had the caprese eggs benedict (basil, mozzarella, and tomato, with poached eggs on top of English muffins, served with hollandaise sauce and hash browns). I was so pleased that nothing was greasy! Lots of vegetarian/can be made vegan items and all of the staff were wonderful! read more

I forgot to snap a pic of thee amazing pretzels and cheese, but those were amazing as well as the rest of the food. I came here with a friend and was kindly greeted, and got my order in fairly quick. The Mac was a tad bit drier than I was hoping for, but I put the extra cheese from my pretzels in it and it was divine. I loved the atmosphere in this place with the accent lighting and plants.
