605am 5 minutes after opening and completely stocked with fresh donuts.

The BEST donuts in Boise hands down. These things are SO fresh and massssssive at that. Each one has a distinct flavor (not all the same batter) and I willll be a repeat customer:-)

Ok so I'm honestly surprised I haven't written a review for here yet. Legit thought I wrote one a few years ago right after my first visit. This place is awesome!! Literally never disappoints. I'm always in search of the best doughnuts in any city I live in or visit and I'm ALWAYS wanting a blueberry jelly doughnut. Soooooo many places don't carry them and honestly, that's just dumb af. My dad, when I was a kid, that was his favorite doughnut. So I, as a wee boy, fell in love with them and for like 30+ years they've been my favorite. Country Doughnuts is the only place I know of that has them and they are phenomenal!!! Omg so good! I've of course had their other doughnuts as well. Can't write a review based off of ONE doughnut even though it would be very easy because they are that great here! The place is small, always stocked with tons of doughnuts and the prices are very similar to any other bakery...even though Boise lacks big time in a variety of bakeries. It's really odd, tbh. Every 3 months, I have a doctors appointment up off of Eagle and Franklin. When that happens, I ALWAYS stop at Country Doughnuts as a treat to myself. I USUALLY TRYYY to watch what I eat. That's why this is an every 4 months type of treat UNLESS...I'm randomly in the area then I absolutely have to stop hahaha! The people are always so incredibly nice. I have yet to meet a not-so-nice person there lol. You seriously cannot go wrong with Country Doughnuts. 5 Stars is easy to give to this place. I absolutely love it and I know anyone would love this place and their doughnuts. Hands down, my favorite bakery. I have one other favorite that was number 1, but I either tied that with this place or bumped it to number 2, but shhh don't tell them because I love all the ladies who work at the other place haha! Check it out! If you're disappointed, yell at me! But I guarantee you won't be because THEY. ARE. THAT. GREAT! Thanks everyone! Cheers! Merry Christmas!

Now that it's Monday, I decided to head into Guru to grab an a fritter of the day. New week new flavor of fritter. The gentleman that helped me today was super nice! I asked him what the fruit flavor of the fritter was and I was told it's cherry again. I told him that I wanted to grab the fritter on Saturday till I found out it was cherry as well. That's when I was told it's more like flavor of the month vs. week. I'm determined to grab a fritter that my husband will like so we will just have to wait till August. We have tried fritters from every shop imaginable so I'm determined to try one from here. But today I grabbed another Hipsterberry, a seasalt chocolate glazed bar and a cereal of the day. I didn't get a chance to eat the Hipsterberry on Saturday so I will have some today! You can't go wrong with a classic chocolate bar with seasalt and a cinnamon toast crunch topped donut. All 3 donuts were killer good today! Fresh, soft and so flavorful! It's hard not to get one of every donut from this joint. They all look so good! My husband and I got to start our week off with some great treats from Guru. Looking forward to coming back and trying a different round of donuts. I might have started a new bad habit for my husband and I.

Decent place in downtown Boise. Love the vibe!…read more I don't really eat doughnuts very often, but when I do, it's almost always an Old-fashioned doughnut. This is what I use as a comparison to other doughnuts. It's my baseline. This one was good, but not at the top. The outer crust was good, and the icing was the perfect amount of sweetness. The interior was just right. We also grabbed a cup of doughnut holes, which is where we struggled. They were overly sweet and fairly dry on the inside. We ended up throwing the rest out, unfortunately. My other baseline is an Apple Fritter, so if I give them a second chance, that will be my next choice!

Honestly, at that moment in time, I wasn't even excited for the fritters after having such a dry donut the day before. I asked for 1 fritter to be in a box and the other 3 to be in another. The gal that helped me the day before opened the window, didn't greet me, stared at me which was an awkward interaction. I told her I was there to pick up my fritters and her response was "I know". Yes, you know but I didn't know if you remembered..... A sweet gal popped up with my boxes. Explained to me which box was what and sent me on my way. I got my goods and made my way home. When I was picking up the boxes, I noticed the warmth of the box and the weight. I can tell these were going to be heavy weight fritters. Opening the box, this baby was huge! Perfectly glazed from top to bottom. My husband took his first bite. He was very happy with the fritter. I took a chunk and was very delighted at how sweet, crunchy and delicious this fritter was. The middle was soft and airy. The exterior of the fritter was crispy and crunchy even though there was a glaze over it. The cinnamon and apple chunks were in every bite. It was a fantastic apple fritter! My husband was greedy and ate a majority of it. I'm happy I got a nice chunk of it to try out. The donut and fritter was night and day. I'm happy that I got to experience the hype of the apple fritter that everyone had raved about! Believe the hype! The apple fritters here were money. If I could do half stars, this visit would have been 4.5 but it's going to be a 4. My first initial interaction with the first gal wasn't the best. You deal with a ton of different people everyday, how was I to know you knew what I was there for if you don't say anything to me? A simple "we are grabbing your fritters" would have been cool but I got stared at. I'm assuming the gal that gave me my order was the person in charge. Professional, sweet and great line of communication. I don't know when I'll be back for another round of goodies but if someone asks where they could get some fabulous fritters, I'll be suggesting this joint for sure.

I ordered the peach and mango clear tea today. It was pretty in color. You can taste the peach and mango in my drink. It's not as sweet as I'm used to but it was still good. Headed to gym event, but needed doughnuts haha! Did they have them? Nnnnnnope! Made me very sad. This place sells their cookies in WinCo and I think Whole Foods. Their cookies are RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING! I could easily eat a bag of 8 in probably half a day lol. Then I'd get all depressed because my bikini wouldn't fit right :( So when I asked about the doughnuts she said they haven't been making them and I think she said it was because of staffing issues. Thanks to the virus and people now refusing to work because the government is giving them too much in unemployment, this is the case with way too many restaurants, bakeries, etc. That's my subtle jab at the current government and what they're doing to the country lol! So I left without doughnuts BUUUUT I did buy a bag of cookies. The same bag I could have bought at WinCo or Whole Foods. She said basically everything they did that morning was make the cookies for the stores and she watched them leave to take them to the stores. Exciting! I felt all guilty as soon as I bit into one of the cookies but OMFG THEY ARE SO GOOD! Have y'all ever been to a crumbl? If you have one where you live GOOOOO! This places cookies are basically they lower calorie version of Crumbl because some Crumbl cookies have 850 calories in ONE cookie hahahaha! Is it worth it tho? Absolutely lol So are these cookies, but if you are trying to watch your calorie intake then maybe stay away because you can tear through a bag of these with ease. Chocolate crinkle and snickerdoodles are my go-to's! Ooooooh! Ok, y'all, WTF is with the twist ties you used to tie up the bags of cookies? STOP using those! They are literally THE WORST! I'm sure they're cost effective but stop! I'm also sure with selling to those two major grocery stores plus selling them in your bakery that you can absolutely afford to use better ties, ones that we can actually open and reuse vs these where you can't just open them, you have to cut the top of the bag and then basically...the bag is useless after that. I know this sounds petty, but ugh they're they worst! Aside from that, this place is super nice. It's in a very weird location tho, I was surprised by that. It's like the only sit down place on this street. Across from them is a warehouse of some sort, half a block up are homes, it's just seems like it would be better on the north end, or NW Boise, basically anywhere other than where it is lol. The staff is super sweet, the ones that were there lol. I'll definitely be going back. Glad my first experience there was a decent one even if they didn't have doughnuts for my heffa ass hahahaha! The service (thanks to Riggen) was as sparkling as the donut case and interior of the shop is clean and although we planned to share a donut, we found much to our surprise that they make cinnamon rolls too. Have they always and we just didn't notice? Regardless, today one of those was our choice. My 100% Italian heritage husband who grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn never has quite warmed up to cinnamon rolls, a staple of my WASP Portland-Seattle upbringing so it is usual that if we order one to share then I will get the lion's share. But as we sipped our Americano's and enjoyed this one, I nearly had to stab his hand with my plastic fork to keep him from eating some of my half. Another great surprise on this visit was their donut holes, offered in a bag and little clear container, made with their sour cream cake donut batter! Samples were offered on the counter and SO good that I thought about picking up a container before we left but a woman came in while we were eating and sipping, tasted the sample and bought the bag and every one of the six or seven containers of them to take away with her. Yes, they are that good. Other details in my previous review comments from 2023. If you want donuts, cinnamon rolls, expertly made hot Americano and with warm service in a sparkling space playing of-the-day FM music at the just right level to know it is there but no so much as to compete with conversation this is the place.
