It was about 8" long with a nice cornmeal coating and fried to a medium brown. The outside was very crispy and the inside velvety. The dog wasn't overly salted. I'm not a corndog aficionado, but it was pretty good. Not sure if I will buy one again at that price point. It was certainly filling, though.

Kanak Express food truck, Sunday July 13th lunchtime at Green Acres Boise…read moreBeen awhile since I had visited Kanak Attack, the food truck started up in 2009 and the business model now includes a mobile group that supports fire fighter activities, as well as a permanent catering division at Lake Harbor with a restaurant. As with any food truck, some of the hardest part of finding them is knowing where to look. I've had the best luck by following Kanak on Instagram, but you can also look up Green Acres by Shoreline Drive on Pioneer street (new location) to see the multiple trucks scheduled that week. Another source I use a lot is the Treasure Valley Food Truck Finder (formerly Boise Food Trucks) on Facebook. Like most food trucks that feature proteins, the prices have jumped up in the last two-three years. A salad with protein is the best bet for bargain hunters at $10, or the three tacos (see menu photo) but I have found that getting the twenty dollar "Two Entree Plate Lunch" works out pretty good as it's usually enough for one meal immediately and another reheated in the microwave (rice) and air fryer (meat). The plate lunch includes a) choose a rice, b) choose a salad and c) choose a protein. My favorites are the Kalua Pig, which is smoky, shredded pork that is juicy, not overly fatty, but maybe to salty for some. I saved most of this and made enchiladas the next day at home. Teriyaki chicken is the same price, add a $1 for the Katsu Chicken which was juicy and crispy with the breaded fried exterior and includes a dipping sauce that's a little sweet and addictive, it's so good. Used to plain macaroni salad? Hawaiian style is a little different, but delicious and is usually the first side I finish. If you are a first timer, don't be afraid to ask for help figuring out what to order, the crew usually takes the time to answer questions and guide you. The menu is pretty well organized into sections.

Overall, the flavor was decent, but I think the claim about them being the number one burger in the area is definitely overhyped. The patties were much smaller and they give you a small bag of chips to go with it. Although the burger was decent, I feel like the quality and the price point did not meet the value of it. It is at the Greenacres location so if you get to have a burger there you can enjoy the music that's in the area or choose from other options. Because we weren't too satisfied from the volume of the food we ended up having to get food from another food truck. Wouldn't be my first pick out of all the options there.

"Well, it's because you tried to make a modification to it". The only modification I asked for was to get a brioche bun instead of a potato bun. He then continued to manhandle the burger in front of me while he looked to see what toppings it was supposed to have. I have been sitting on my fingers since I learned this a week ago to not have to type the news into Yelp in the magical thinking that if it wasn't said it wouldn't be true. But, very sadly, it is. Not only have Aaron and Kelly (he the inaugural chef at Juniper and she the one time business manager for Coiled winery and other food businesses) contributed greatly to people who love to eat good food through their support of local growers and suppliers to use those ingredients in Aaron's remarkably delicious creations and modeled the best customer care, Kelly's ears should be burning for how many times her name comes up when conversations are had with others about examples of "how to" for extraordinary hospitality, they have contributed much to the Boise community by being really wonderful people. I was so tempted to try their tamales but went with #3 combination-- tostada, 2 tacos, rice and beans. The beef in the tostada was tender and generous. Same for the chicken in the tacos. Everything tasted fresh. I also tried the birria consommé and it was fabulous. I'll go for the quesabirria next time. Friendly owner and the food came out quickly. He was the only one working on a late Friday afternoon so it likely takes longer at busier times. The price for my lunch plus tip was $15 (no drink).
