I asked him what the fruit flavor of the fritter was and I was told it's cherry again. I told him that I wanted to grab the fritter on Saturday till I found out it was cherry as well. That's when I was told it's more like flavor of the month vs. week. I'm determined to grab a fritter that my husband will like so we will just have to wait till August. We have tried fritters from every shop imaginable so I'm determined to try one from here. But today I grabbed another Hipsterberry, a seasalt chocolate glazed bar and a cereal of the day. I didn't get a chance to eat the Hipsterberry on Saturday so I will have some today! You can't go wrong with a classic chocolate bar with seasalt and a cinnamon toast crunch topped donut. All 3 donuts were killer good today! Fresh, soft and so flavorful! It's hard not to get one of every donut from this joint. They all look so good! My husband and I got to start our week off with some great treats from Guru. Looking forward to coming back and trying a different round of donuts. This is what I use as a comparison to other doughnuts. It's my baseline. This one was good, but not at the top. The outer crust was good, and the icing was the perfect amount of sweetness. The interior was just right. We also grabbed a cup of doughnut holes, which is where we struggled. They were overly sweet and fairly dry on the inside. We ended up throwing the rest out, unfortunately. My other baseline is an Apple Fritter, so if I give them a second chance, that will be my next choice!

I mentioned how I have trouble getting there on time, and the owner went completely out of her way to bring donuts to me, just out of pure kindness. Who does that anymore? The donuts themselves absolutely lived up to their reputation. They were fresh, soft, and so yummy! My favorites were the blueberry and the maple. It's rare to come across people who care this much, and it made the whole experience unforgettable. I'll be going back for sure, and I highly recommend you give them a try.

There was no offer to warm anything up, which would have helped at least a little. In my opinion, if a place is only open three days a week and caters to a limited window, the baked goods should be exceptionally fresh and worth the hype and trek. These felt more like yesterday's leftovers than anything made that morning. Disappointing experience overall--we won't be back. We have no issue driving to Boise for good food but this was not worth the drive. Wasted $16 plus tip for nothing good.

I love, love the version that Goldstein's makes, loaded with caramelized thin strings of onion in the middle. One difference between a bagel (boiled and baked) and a bialy is that it's only baked yielding a crunch. My wife prefers the Everything bagel, toasted with melted butter. If I splurge, the Bagel Shop Reuben or the Kosher Style Deli with pastrami, mustard and a kosher pickle hit the spot with intense flavors. Both are $13. The black & white cookies remind me of Junior's 1515 Broadway New York, NY, although smaller than their oversize version. You'll also find lox options, and other smoked fish plus an array of nostalgic canned and bottled drinks, coffee and can even order a Ubet's chocolate egg cream soda. I have brought Gastons sourdough bread as gifts, to other foodies, across this country, but today, wouldn't put my word on the product being produced. What was once a chewy, hole riddled, tasty and sour, sourdough recipe, is now, glorified white bread, except the flour being used for the past year or so, is "YELLOW", and so is the bread, baked to no attempt at a uniform degree of doneness. Sad, truly sad, whether it's poor management causing the use of substandard labor and ingredients, ownership lost it's once impeccable quality control, or ownership changed, and Gastons is now sold out to a lousy commercial bakery, such as "Franz". Not to mention, a loaf now runs almost $11. I'll pay $11 for a quality food product, but not yellow, "white bread" baked with no passion or love. Like most companies today, Gastons has failed at adjusting to today's business challenges and lost managerial control. I hope ownership returns to doling out their own Q.C. as their bakers and current management, surely have zero care about the product that is being sold. A shame for sure, and additionally, I used to downright crave the chocolate almond croissant, until it shrunk 50% in size, while increasing 60% in cost. Only poor management, and the lack of not wanting to sink one's complete time and energy into a company, would lead to ridiculous cost increases, and dramatic product deterioration. Good luck, but much like quitting buying croissants, when the product didn't match the cost, I will need to seek out a different sourdough loaf, from now on. Thanks for the few years of stupendous sourdough that I got to experience, but I'm afraid that is just another lost memory. I feel for any business owner today, as today's workers, are more interested in anything other than the tasks at hand, in front of them, and the survivability of the folks that employ them.
