    Sweets Box
    Jenna W.

Came here early Saturday morning and ordered the sweets dozen box where they pick your donuts. It came with 2 bars, 4 glazed, 2 sprinkles, 2 cake, 1 old fashioned, and 1 cream cheese donut (plus free donut holes) for $16. I believe based on those specific donuts, you save money by ordering the random box as opposed to making the selection yourself with the same types of donuts. I was a little wary about dropping that much money just on donuts, but the quality of their donuts is unlike any I've ever had. These donuts don't leave that gross greasy residue in your mouth after you eat them (even when eating them cold!) and they're so light and airy. The toppings are also not too sweet, plus they have a great variety of flavors and types of donuts. The only downside is they're only open until 1 PM, otherwise we'd be here way more often!

I adore this little donut shop. It reminds me a lot of my childhood. No commercialized glitz...just damn good donuts. This is a small store on Franklin Ave, tucked behind a Dutch Bros in a little strip mall. There was 1 or 2 places to sit, but most everyone gets their donuts to go anyway. You must go early! I've been in at 7:00 am before and half of the days donuts were gone. They have tons of varieties and they're all carefully crafted. I love their cake donuts. Substantial, tangy and they come in tons of fun flavors like Red Velvet, Chocolate, Apple Pie and more. They also have some other fun pastries like sausage rolls and fritters. Sweet Sensations also does custom orders! We ordered a bunch of cute blue and green donuts for a baby sprinkle once. They throw in a handful of donut holes into any order so you can snack on tiny puffs of heaven on your way out the door and avoid any chocolate or powdered sugar mess on your mouth. Always thinking of the customer! ;)

We are newer to the area and have been searching for "THE" donut shop. This is it. We've tried lots of different places. My kids like cute donuts but I like delicious donuts and in our experience, it's hard to find a place where you can find cute donuts that taste good too. I got a chocolate cake donut, a blueberry donut and a maple bar. YUM. My kids got the rainbow and m&m donuts and demolished them. We went to a fancy shop in Boise and my kids didn't even finish the donuts. They looked awesome there but lacked real flavor and were very stale. These are the classic donuts I'm used to. The owner was SO nice! I mentioned that we had been looking for our new donut shop and she threw in a maple bar for us to try for free. She was super friendly and so sweet. We were able to eat inside (thank you!!!) and they had lots of napkins (like real ones, not the tissue paper ones lol) to help me clean up my messy kids. The inside was super clean. I also noticed the drive thru once I came in which we will definitely be utilizing in the future. All in all, great experience! Can't wait to come back here again soon!

These donuts were just okay. They weren't terrible but definitely not the best I've ever had. The donuts were soft but a lot of the donuts tasted straight up like oil. Their chocolate frosted donuts were terrible. I'm not sure how you can mess up chocolate but they did. The only donut I enjoyed was the cheesecake donut but honestly it wasn't enough cheesecake on top. I would choose Krispy Kreme over this place any day.

Best apple fritters in Boise. The cinnamon rolls are also great, the sourdough version has plenty of icing and are delicious.

    Do you have beignets?

I am sorry We do not

    Do they makes kolaches?

    Yes we do.

Do they have any gluten free options?

    Unfortunately, we do not, no.

Are y'all open during the stay at home order?

Yes, We open everyday from 5:30 to 1:00 except Mondays. Thank you.

Is this business still open? I've called and no one answers. I went by during posted business hours and it was closed...?

The owner was battling serious cancer and their business hours were affected. I haven't been in recently but drove by a couple of days ago and saw a "GRAND OPEN" banner outside. Not sure if they are under new ownership or if the health challenges…

Do they make fresh cream puffs?

Yes, they have cream puffs. They also have donut holes (super affordable!) that you can buy by the dozen. I can't seem to get away without getting 2-3 dozen.

A treat when she had a good session. My son and I finished having brunch down the road. We were both bummed that my husband couldn't join see we decided to get him a sweet treat. The way to make everything better for my husband is a good apple fritter. Apple fritters make everything better. The size of these donuts are the first thing you see. I don't remember these donuts being so big! There were some round ones the size of a salad plate. It honestly would be fun to have this huge donut for a first birthday photo. Shoot, I would love to have this huge donut for my birthday! I couldn't get over the fact at how glorious these donuts looked. They were all delicious looking! There were plenty of huge apple fritters! No need to ever be concerned about this joint running out. There was 3 big trays worth. Maybe this joint is known for their apple fritters. Plenty of stock on hand. The sweet girl behind the counter grabbed the five that I asked for and got them all packaged up. One for my husband. And of course some for my boys and in laws. Country Donuts did not mess around with these apple fritters. They were perfectly fried on the outside, golden and crispy. So soft in the middle. A hint of cinnamon to make it warm. Chunks of apple throughout the fritter. This pastry did not lack on the glaze, every inch of that baby was covered. Everything about that fritter was fabulous! I guess it's good that this shop is clear across town from where I live. I would become a diabetic if I lived closer. We do have a couple local bakeries by us but they aren't pushing fritters out like this. It was cool coming in and grabbing a sweet treat for my husband. Even though it is an older shop, don't let the hole in the wall look deter you from coming. Shops like this usually push out the best products. It was worth stopping in for that apple fritter today.

On the morning we stopped in there weren't a lot of choices and judging by the size of the cases on the counter that's typical. I give major props to that little glazed croissant- it was delicious but I also appreciate that it wasn't huge. I felt satisfied but not sickly full afterward. I tried the buttermilk later in the day and it wasn't okay, the frosted donut for a similar review from my daughter- like, solid food donuts but nothing we couldn't find at the local grocery store bakery. Worth the stop if you're in the immediate area, not a destination spot though.

Now that it's Monday, I decided to head into Guru to grab an a fritter of the day. New week new flavor of fritter. The gentleman that helped me today was super nice! We have tried fritters from every shop imaginable so I'm determined to try one from here. But today I grabbed another Hipsterberry, a seasalt chocolate glazed bar and a cereal of the day. I didn't get a chance to eat the Hipsterberry on Saturday so I will have some today! You can't go wrong with a classic chocolate bar with seasalt and a cinnamon toast crunch topped donut. All 3 donuts were killer good today! Fresh, soft and so flavorful! It's hard not to get one of every donut from this joint. They all look so good! This is what I use as a comparison to other doughnuts. It's my baseline. This one was good, but not at the top. The outer crust was good, and the icing was the perfect amount of sweetness. The interior was just right. We also grabbed a cup of doughnut holes, which is where we struggled. They were overly sweet and fairly dry on the inside. They had some specialty donuts on display and man did they look killer! I didn't know what they were specifically but they looked delicious! All of them nicely decorated and garnished. But, with much restraint, I got a big apple fritter for my husband and some donut holes for the grandmas. My mom didn't let me grandma have any donut holes so I had to take one for the team and enjoy them for her. They were so good! They were soft and tasty. Every donut hole was nicely glazed. It's amazing you can polish off 7 donut holes and not realize that you had that many. They are so dainty that you don't realize how fast you're eating them. Each one was great! The service (thanks to Riggen) was as sparkling as the donut case and interior of the shop is clean and although we planned to share a donut, we found much to our surprise that they make cinnamon rolls too. Have they always and we just didn't notice? Regardless, today one of those was our choice. My 100% Italian heritage husband who grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn never has quite warmed up to cinnamon rolls, a staple of my WASP Portland-Seattle upbringing so it is usual that if we order one to share then I will get the lion's share. But as we sipped our Americano's and enjoyed this one, I nearly had to stab his hand with my plastic fork to keep him from eating some of my half. Another great surprise on this visit was their donut holes, offered in a bag and little clear container, made with their sour cream cake donut batter! Samples were offered on the counter and SO good that I thought about picking up a container before we left but a woman came in while we were eating and sipping, tasted the sample and bought the bag and every one of the six or seven containers of them to take away with her. Yes, they are that good. Other details in my previous review comments from 2023. If you want donuts, cinnamon rolls, expertly made hot Americano and with warm service in a sparkling space playing of-the-day FM music at the just right level to know it is there but no so much as to compete with conversation this is the place.
