Fantastic feed store! Great prices and very helpful staff. If you're looking to buy baby chicks, or chickens, this is the place! They also sell rabbits, turkeys, and other small animals. Call ahead to see what kind of chicks they are getting in. My kids love to go and see all the animals around back. Just make sure you wear boots if it's been raining. I was in today after not being in there for a couple of years. It's a long story that I don't want to get into, but the blonde employee working the register was easily the most rude cashier I've ever met. She had a total attitude and made many rude faces and eyes during our communication. She has no sense of customer service. So I'm a little surprised at the reviews on Customer Services too. I shop here fairly often for my chickens and now pet pigs. They are really helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The only time I've seen them a little more reserved is when they're busy with other customers. But I don't call that bad customer service. I call that doing their jobs. The only reason why I took off one star is because compared to Escondido Feed, they don't have quite as big a selection of chicken feed, treats, supplies, etc. But so far, whenever I've gone there, they've always had what I went there for. But I thought I should note that in case someone is used to going to Escondido and thinking that they can buy think they can find things like bulk feed, large quantities of DE or a store brand of worms here in Vista. If you're just getting started with things like chickens or pigs, they will really help you and they don't try to oversell you. They've been around since I was a kid, so they have to be doing something right. read more

The chicken with the defective beak surprisingly lived a pretty long life. Her deformity didn't really hold her back. She could still eat a bug and also grab individual pieces of feed. It was pretty amazing that she could still thrive with such a malformed beak. I definitely thought she would have a challenge to get enough nutrition. We always made sure the feed bucket had plenty of food so she could scoop the food in. I'm glad I didn't hand her over to likely be culled. read more

I've lived in Vista for twenty years and never even thought to go into this store until my vet told me that I could find quality dog and cat food here. I had always assumed that it was for horse and livestock feed, which we've never needed. The buildings - there are two - are old and have a great feel. They have a surprisingly good selection of food and other pet supplies. If you live in the area, it is worth checking out. read more

I honestly don't know why all these people complain about the customer service. Casey and Kat are both extremely friendly and have been more than nice to us every time we have come in. We go there at least once a week to pick up feed for our training/ boarding facility. They both treat us like family when we go there and are always very helpful! So is the gentleman that works there and th guys that load the feed for you! We have been using this feed store since we moved to vista 7 months ago. We shopped around at first and found their prices to be the best as well as the quality of their hay. We haven't gotten a bad bale from them yet! Love these guys and this feed store! I'm back to update my prior review. The small person in charge of notifying me to order when our feed gets low didn't do their job... so reluctantly I stopped back in this store. I was pleasantly surprised by the changes here! The counter employee was very helpful and friendly, an employee outside was extra cheery and directed my kids on where they could locate a friendly cat to pet, and I was really impressed by the improvements in the animal area. Fencing was added to the front of cages with smaller holes preventing easy finger-nipping, a young female employee walked around kind-of supervising the area (and patiently chatting with my kids lol), and the place overall just looked much more cleaned up and safe. I just left off one star because I still didn't see a sink and because no one responded to my earlier post with any mention of first aid kits or post-bite procedures being in place. But it looks like progress has been made, so I would definitely like to acknowledge that and say good job guys!! A good business makes changes when needed so I'm happy to see that's been done! Can I leave zero stars??? Absolutely will not be back to do business here. EXTREMELY rude. Went in for a flea medication and talked to the girl working about different options. Ended up buying frontline and she still charged me for the shampoo. Called the store about their return policy and the lady on the phone told me it depends on the item. When I told her the situation, she got extremely rude with me and said it's a strict 30 day policy and doesn't matter what it is and continued to make rude remarks. I just returned from the store after buying a lunge whip to use as a tease toy for my dog. I called before hand and the woman on the phone was cheerful and helpful. When I drove up I didn't know which building to go into, one is for dogs and cats, there was a nice man that told me which one I wanted. I saw what I needed right away and as soon as the lady at the counter was done with a customer, she took a moment to acknowledge me and to let me know if I had any questions she would be happy to answer them, then she went on with the next customer in front of her. I have been buying my pet food here for almost 10 years. If you haven't been here in awhile they now have a separate building just for dog and cat food.. I find the staff pleasant and very helpful and seem to know all their customers by name which is very rare these days. The only thing I don't like is that they aren't open late like the big box stores, but its rare that I have a kitty litter emergency. So it's not a problem for me. read more

I called The Country Feed Store and they graciously donated a cage so I could give this little guy a good home. I'm pretty sure there is no big box store that would do that. This is a great new little store. They have just about everything you need for your dog (other pets aswell, but I have a dog). I was looking for a long lasting,, good quality, rewarding chew toy for my dog. Karen and Luke were very helpful in comparing the benefits and durability of each toy. They were both very knowledgeable in their products, and they have very affordable pricing for a boutique pet store. Their product line is clearly of peak quality. I have been going to this store since I moved here from Texas four years ago. I buy all my cat food here. They have the greatest customer services. Wonderful products. My son recommended them as he bought all his dog food for his bulldog at this store. I have watched the store cats grow up from kittens and enjoy seeing them each and every time I go! I have been buying my dog and cat food here for several years. I usually come in on Sundays, as they publish a coupon for 10% off for seniors. Lately it has been difficult to find Evo cat food due to a recall. Last week, I stopped by on a weekday, found that it was back in stock and bought a small bag, thinking I would wait until Sunday to buy a large bag. I came back in today, Sunday, with my coupon hoping to buy the large bag. Unfortunately, they were out of stock again, but said they would have a new shipment in Thursday. I asked if I could have a rain check on my 10% coupon, and they said "No, it is our policy not to give the discount except on Sunday". While they have every right to their policy, I felt it was not very good for customer relations to not honor the discount, when they were out of the food. I was disappointed with the salesperson, who made no attempt to check with a supervisor, or apologize for my inconvenience. They have lost customer, and a good one. read more

They are helpful in carefully loading my car when I'm buying pine shavings as I have a 4 door car vs pickup truck. Their customer service is outstanding and their products are quality. The manager Cat (Kat) is terrible choice of a manager. My wife and I were all excited that a feed store was so close to our house. The convenience of it seemed awesome, that is, until we ran into Cat. They had piglets there one day and my wife considered buying one. This lady (Cat) was standing in front of their enclosure holding and snuggling one of them. We thought she was just a customer because they don't wear identifiable clothing to show that they work there. My wife politely ask if the lady could move over slightly so as she might be able to see some of them too. The lady very rudely said no and told her to wait a minute. Cat put the piglet back in the cage and my wife was able to sneak in the door to have a look at them herself. Cat preceded to make snarky facial expressions and Then was trying to get my wife to move out of the way again. We just thought it was an extremely rude customer. Come to find out, it was the store manager. THE STORE MANAGER!!! What kind of customer service is that???? She should be doing her job and help the customers! She should not be taking priority over the other customers! We left with a sour taste and then spent our money (a lot of it) else where. If I were one of the owners, I would fire that manager. She has absolutely NO customer service skills to say the least. I will be polite because this is Yelp and there is a variety of people reading, but I would spend my money elsewhere. read more
