Been looking for a variety of baby chicks and they had a HUGE selection here. Even better, they were already sexed and at very fair prices. Staff is super knowledgeable and other animal care products were great prices; saw eggs at $5 a dozen which is a steal given the egg prices in stores nowadays. Drove over an hour and a half to get here but will definitely be returning; this is a great multi-generational family shop. The staff here are super knowledgeable and friendly. They've got a pretty good selection of baby chicks that are available often. Their feed and supplies are priced fairly. If their parking lot is full, you can park along the side road they're off of. read more

Horrible experience. I texted back and forth with owner said Sapphire olive egger gems and olive Eggers advertised and she stated she had them. I drove 131 miles form LA. Man helped me there always on the phone. I said many times Sapphire olive Eggers and olive Eggers he gave me the regular Sapphire gems not the olive egger ones. I went home saw this I texted owner doesn't want to do anything about it. Making excuses over anf over agin. Now I have 5 chicks I did not want. So sad to not even try to fix it. Worst experience in years. I contacted them bc I was interested in a used horse shelter they had on consignment. It was significantly over-priced. Kevin, the owner who was my point of contact through all of this, said he would contact the seller to see if they would accept a reasonable offer. I waited 2 weeks with no response. I called and got a ton of excuses and "poor me", life is hard, etc. I'm a very compassionate person, but it clearly someone who is disorganized and clearly dropped the ball, searching for excuses. He finally after 3.5 weeks got back to me, and we agreed on a price. They were supposed to deliver by a certain date because we were on a deadline to get the shelter. He totally blew us off, didn't deliver, didn't call...nothing. I called again. Kevin said he assumed I wouldn't want the shelter because he hadn't done what he said he would do and figured I would be pretty mad about it. He did apologize and said he would make it up to us by delivering and installing it at no charge. I thought this was considerate and I let him know that I appreciated the offer. I told him I wasn't so much mad, as frustrated bc we really need the shelter. He said he would have his daughter take pics so I could see the condition of the shelter and would deliver that week on Saturday. Fast forward...he never sent the pictures and he no-showed again. I called his cell, he didn't answer. I called the store and left a detailed message asking him to call, he never called. I texted him, he didn't respond. He totally ghosted us. I spent the entire day Saturday waiting for him. No Call on Sunday. No call on Monday. I spoke with him on Tuesday and there were a bunch of poor-me excuses, again, at which point I told him that it was really crappy of him not to have the courtesy, at minimum, to respond to our multiple attempts to contact him, or have one of his employees contact us, and let us know he had no plans to deliver the shelter and honor his commitment. He started ranting like a 12-year-old saying "yeah, I made my truck break down, yeah I wanted to have a bad day, yeah, I wanted to make $60 bucks commission, yeah I wanted to spend my day doing that". Wow. It was literally like listening to a spoiled child have a tantrum. It's kind of laughable listening to a grown man be so vested in not being accountable that he sees this type of behavior as a reasonable alternative. Again, wow. He finally said he has no intention of ever delivering it. Worst experience in years with a retailer. I don't think we've ever tried so hard to spend money with a business. I would run, not walk, away from doing business with this company. read more

Was searching for some very particular chicken breeds, came across an ad they had. Drove about an hour and 20 minutes down and it was completely worth it. I have talked with different staff both times I went and they were super friendly and helpful. I finally was able to get my hands on some lavender orpingtons, in addition to a few other great birds! They all are doing great so far, healthy and growing. Also appreciated the extensive amount of supplies they have, including rings to mark your chickens and more than the run of the mill treats. The owners/staff are wonderful. They care about animals and are eager to help you out with any questions you have and meet your needs. They help us out when we are short on hay and low on money... They are against selling animals because they don't want to sell to bad homes, but their cat had a litter and they had three kittens left they hadn't given to people they knew. One 8 month old kitty jumped in my arms one visit and i was in love... they know us well at this point, and home we went... She was cared for so well with them it was apparent. She is loving and kind and unafraid... who makes a better feed store owner then a great pet owner? read more

I only buy propane from here so my ratings is based soley on the fact that their propane is about $1.50 cheaper a gallon then the other place I frequent. Which is A+ to me :) read more

I bought hay from them, which was of decent quality. I arranged to have it delivered, and was told I would be notified if there were any problems. The hay was delivered 2 days late, I had to borrow from another horse owner, and they didn't even bother to call and let me know what was going on. Poor communication. I have tried every feed and supply store in Valley Center and this is the best. They are friendly, knowledgeable and don't rush you in and out. Always someone to carry things out for you and propane is only cheaper if you get it delivered to your home in large quantities. Good quality feed and did I mention they are friendly and knowledgeable? I wish more places in VC would treat their customers like this. I now buy ALL of my livestock and pet supplies here. The only negative is that all sales are done by hand and it can get a bit slow. Still a great overall experience every-time. read more
